Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 LR2 and 2012-2013 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. A component within the Occupant Classification System (OCS) Electronic Control Unit (ECU) may fail, resulting in the front seat passenger air bag being totally or partially disabled.
Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, if the air bag is disabled, the air bag may not deploy or may not deploy properly, increasing the risk of injury to the front seat passenger.
Remedy: Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will update the Restraint Control Module software, free of charge. The recall began on August 30, 2014. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is P046.

LAND ROVER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010-2011 LR2 VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM NOVEMBER 12, 2009, THROUGH AUGUST 23, 2010. THE SHORTING BAR IN THE CLOCK SPRING MAY BECOME DISCONNECTED WHEN THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE CONNECTOR IS INSTALLED.
Consequence: THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED OR AT ALL AND THEREFORE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT THE DRIVER, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A SPACER INTO THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING HARNESS CONNECTOR. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 13, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT LAND ROVER AT 800-637-6837.
THIS VEHICLE HAS TERRIBLE BATTERY ISSUES. THE BATTERY WILL NEVER STAY CHARGED FOR MORE THAN 2 DAYS WITHOUT DRIVING IT. THE BATTERY DIES REGULARLY AND HAS LEFT MY FAMILY AND I STRANDED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 6 TIMES IN 3 YEARS. EACH TIME I PURCHASE A HIGH END BATTERY TO TRY TO MITIGATE THE PROBLEM, BUT IT PERSISTS. THE BATTERY STARTS OUT GREAT, BUT OVER TIME IS WORN FURTHER AND FURTHER DOWN. THIS IS AN IN GOING ISSUE WITH MANY, MANY PEOPLE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN RESOLVED. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED. THIS THE CAR MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER USE, WHAT IF THEY ARE STRANDED SOMEWHERE UNSAFE BECAUSE THIS BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS INSUFFICIENT? THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL HAS NEEDED REPLACEMENT! VERY COSTLY AND DANGEROUS.
4 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IT BROKE DOWN DUE TO A LEAK IN THE ENGINE, THAT WAS FIXED. COST A 1000 TO REPAIR, WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE CAR JUMP AND STARTED TO SMOKE SO I PULLED OVER AND GOT IT TOWED. AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK, I NOTICED THAT THE ALARM WAS GOING OFF FOR NO REASON. ALL DAY (IT WAS PARKED). THE ONLY THING THAT GOT IT TO STOP WAS TAKING OUT THE FUSE, BUT THAT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE. I REPLACED THE FUSE WITH A NEW ONE YESTERDAY AND THIS MORNING THE ALARM WAS GOING OFF IN MY GARAGE. THIS CAR ALSO HAS BATTERY ISSUES. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT FOR TWO DAYS AND THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THIS CAR IS CAUSING ME TO GO INTO DEBT DUE TO ALL THE THINGS THAT KEEP HAPPENING. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS MODEL AND MAKE OF THIS VEHICLE HAS THESE PROBLEMS. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS, I CALLED LAND ROVER TO ASK IF THIS WAS A ISSUE THAT HAPPENS OFTEN AND THEY COULDN'T TELL ME ANYTHING. I DON'T WANT TO PUT ANYMORE MONEY INTO A CAR THAT CANNOT BE FIXED.

I HAD TO PUT A SOLAR PANEL IN MY VEHICLE TO HELP WITH THE VEHICLE FROM DYING. THE VEHICLE IS STILL DEAD AFTER THREE DAYS. I CANNOT TAKE A TRIP AWAY FOR MORE THAN 3 DAYS WITHOUT MY VEHICLE DYING.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THE 2010 LR2 FROM A USED DEALERSHIP AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT AND SEAT BELT LIGHT ARE ON. THE SEAT BELT WORKS JUST FINE, BUT THE LIGHT STAYS ON (EVEN WHEN A PASSENGER IS IN THE CAR AND HAS THEIR SEAT BELT FASTENED). I SAW THAT THERE WAS A PREVIOUS RECALL ON LR2'S FOR MY YEAR ABOUT THE AIRBAGS AND I AM WORRIED THAT THEY WON'T FUNCTION IF I GET INTO A WRECK BECAUSE THE LIGHT IS ON.

REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. STRONG NOISE COMES FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL WHICH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ENTIRELY. HIGHLY DISTRACTIVE WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED MORE THAN 30 MPH.
I HAVE A 2010 LR2 HSE WITH APPROX. 59K. JUST TOOK IT TO MY REPAIR GUY WHO DIAGNOSED A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL. HE REFERRED ME TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO REPAIR. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND REALIZING THAT THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH MY VEHICLE, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF CAR AND IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR. I CAN'T GET MY VEHICLE INTO THE LR DEALER FOR MORE THAN 2 WEEKS - HOWEVER I AM WONDERING WHY, AFTER REVIEWING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IN THIS MAKE/MODEL OF VEHICLE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON IT. I HAVE CONTACTED LR NA BUT DO NOT EXPECT REMEDIATION. I AM HOPING THE NHTSA WILL LOOK AT YET ANOTHER COMPLAINT AND PROVIDE CONSUMERS SOME ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER.

MY 2010 LANDROVER LR2 WITH 70K MILES, STARTED MAKING LOUD HUMMING /GRINDING NOISES COMING FROM THE REAR END LATE IN 2016 WHEN DRIVING OVER 30 MPH, I CONTACTED LAND ROVER OF OMAHA AND LAND ROVER OF NORTH AMERICA FOR HELP IN RESOLVING THIS DEFECTIVE ISSUE. THE ONLY HELP I RECEIVED WAS A QUOTE FOR ABOUT $9300 TO FIX IT. WHICH I COULD NOT AFFORD. I NOW HAVE IT IN AN INDEPENDENT SHOP TO REPLACE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WITH A USED ONE THAT I HOPE LASTS FOR $1800
2010 LR2 WITH 25,900 MILES ON IT DEVELOPED A WHINE IN THE REAR END. DEALER SAYS THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL NEEDS TO BE REBUILT/REPLACED FOR $2000+. SLIGHTLY OUT OF WARRANTY BY AGE (BUT NOT BY MILEAGE). DEALER SAY'S WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER, HOWEVER IT APPEARS THERE ARE MANY MANY OTHER CASES FOR THE LR2 THAT HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA OR THE DEALER IS INTERESTED IN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE, DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT SEEMS TO BE A PERVASIVE ISSUE. IT SEEMS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL ISSUE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.
I BOUGHT A 2010 LAND ROVER LR2 FROM THE DEALER LESS THAT 1 YEAR AGO. IT HAD 72,000 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT, THE SALES REP AND LAND ROVER SAID THE CAR WAS A "LOANER" CAR FOR CUSTOMERS. THEY SAID IT WAS FULLY MAINTAINED AND SERVICED AT THE APPROPRIATE MILES. IVE ONLY DRIVEN IT 8,000 MILES AND THE DRIVE TRAIN IS NOW HUMMING AND WHIRLING. I TOOK IT TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THESE LAND ROVER ARE INFAMOUS IN HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. MORE THAN ANY OTHER CAR. IN THIS CASE I STRONGLY FEEL LAND ROVER SHOULD AS A COURTESY FIX MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL BECAUSE IT IS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM AND A FLAW IN THESE CARS. THE HUMMING WHIRLY NOISE COMES AS YOU START TO RUN THE CAR AND GETS DUDE AS YOU SPEED UP. IN CONCLUSION THE REPAIR FOR THE DIFFERENTIAL IS VERY EXPENSIVE.
LOUD WHINE/GROWLING SOUND COMING FROM DRIVE TRAIN AT ALL SPEEDS. GREW LOUDER OVER A PERIOD OF TWO WEEKS. HAD TO HAVE THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL REPLACED AT ONLY 35,890 MILES DUE TO BEARING FAILURE.
