DOPE, INC. IS RECALLING 42,540 COMBINATION CORNER AND BUMPER LAMP ASSEMBLIES OF VARIOUS PART NUMBERS SOLD FOR USE AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE LAMPS DO NOT CONTAIN THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS.
Consequence: DECREASED LIGHTING VISIBILITY MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: DOPE, INC. WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER A FULL REFUND FOR THE NONCOMPLIANT COMBINATION LAMPS. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 28, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DOPE, INC. AT 1-626-272-1798.

SABERSPORT IS RECALLING 16,270 COMBINATION CORNER AND BUMPER LAMP ASSEMBLIES OF VARIOUS PART NUMBERS SOLD FOR USE AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." The contact owns a 1999 Ford E-350 Jamboree equipped with Sailun Tires, Tire Line: Terramax H/T, Tire Size: 225/75/R16, DOT Number: (535PLE50). The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, there were pieces of the driver's side inside dual tire striking the underside of the vehicle and hitting the highway. The contact managed to drive the vehicle back to his residence. The contact stated that the tread had separated leaving only the steel belt and the side wall. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 80,000 and the tire failure mileage was 5,000.
While turning into a parking space the bolts to the steering box sheared off with complete loss of steering. Further inspection showed severe cracking and loss of metal in the steering box area. After doing some searches I found that this is common issue in the E series vans. I did do a recall search and a CSA search to see about having this problem resolved safely by a certified shop. Unfortunately I haven't found any recall information on what is obviously a serious safety issue. Apparently the bolts shear off at low speeds while turning. The real concern is should one bolt only crack and not let the steering box become useless the vehical may be at highway speed when the failure does occour causing complete loss of control of the vehicle. I've read hundreds of emails on this subject and none had a resolution provided by the Ford Motor Company. I would think that something this critical would have been addressed by now. Concidering the recalls for comparatively much lesser safety issues. Thank you for reviewing this matter.

FORD IS RECALLING 225,000 MY 1992-2003 ECONOLINE, MY 1993-1995 TAURUS SHO, MY 1992-1998 CROWN VICTORIA, MY 1993 BRONCO, F-SERIES, MY 1995-1997 F-SERIES SUPER DUTY STRIPPED CHASSIS, MY 1992-1998 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS, AND MY 1992-1995 LINCOLN TOWN CAR VEHICLES. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES WERE PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED USING A WIRING HARNESS THAT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE VEHICLE CIRCUIT POLARITY.
Consequence: AS A RESULT, THE FUSE IS LOCATED IN THE OUTPUT CIRCUIT RATHER THAN IN THE INTENDED INPUT POWER FEED CIRCUIT, AND MAY NOT OFFER THE INTENDED PROTECTION IN THE EVENT OF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT TO GROUND.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW WIRING HARNESS, OR REPLACE THE MATING ELECTRICAL COMPONENT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 18, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: BI-FUEL CNG PICKUP TRUCKS AND BI-FUEL CNG VANS, MODIFIED BY CFI CONTROL SYSTEMS, INC., FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 303, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY OF COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS VEHICLES." THE LABEL AFFIXED TO THE FUEL FILLER DOOR BY THE VEHICLE MODIFIER CONTAINS THE INSPECTION DATE AND EXPIRATION DATE OF THE CNG TANK. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT CONTAIN THE STATEMENT "SEE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE FUEL CONTAINER FOR INSPECTION AND SERVICE LIFE."
Consequence: THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS.
Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED A LABEL WITH THE REQUIRED STATEMENT, ALONG WITH INSTRUCTIONS FOR AFFIXING THE LABEL AT THE FUEL FILLER DOOR. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN NOVEMBER 2, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CUTAWAYS AND STRIPPED CHASSIS WITH SINGLE REAR WHEELS. THE LUG NUTS CAN POTENTIALLY BOTTOM OUT ON A SHOULDER ON THE STUDS.
Consequence: IF THIS OCCURS, THERE CAN BE AN INADEQUATE CLAMP LOAD TO ATTACH THE WHEEL TO THE AXLE, RESULTING IN NOISE, DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL AND HUB, OR IN EXTREME CASES, LOSS OF A REAR WHEEL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE REAR WHEEL ATTACHING STUDS.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: UTILITY VANS EQUIPPED WITH THE "60/40" HINGED SIDE CARGO DOORS. THE STRIKERS FOR THE 60/40 DOOR SINGLE LATCH SYSTEM WERE FOUND TO CONTAIN STRESS CRACKS AT THE STRIKER WIRE LOWER STAKE JOINT. STRIKERS WITH STRESS CRACKS MAY NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 206, "DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS."
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE DOOR STRIKERS MAY NOT HOLD THE DOOR, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DOOR STRIKER.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PICKUP TRUCKS BUILT WITH SINGLE REAR WHEELS AND EQUIPPED WITH 3.55:1 AND 3.73:1 AXLE RATIO. THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH INCORRECT SPEEDOMETER DRIVEN GEARS, RESULTING IN A LOWER SPEEDOMETER READING THAN THE ACTUAL VEHICLE SPEED BEING DRIVEN.
Consequence: THIS CAN RESULT IN THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN AT AN UNSAFE OR ILLEGAL SPEED SHOULD THE DRIVER NOT REALIZE THAT HIS VEHICLE ROAD SPEED IS GREATER THAN THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATION.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL THE CORRECT SPEEDOMETER GEAR.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED 24' 1999 WINNEBAGO ITASCA SPIRIT WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE AND AT THAT TIME I NOTICED A SHAKING OR VIBRATION PROBLEM POSSIBLY COMING FROM THE TIRES. I OWNED A MOTOR HOME IN THE PAST AND HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE. THIS MOTOR HOME SAT FOR SEVERAL YEARS SO I ATTRIBUTED THE SHAKING TO THE MEMORY IN THE RUBBER OF FLAT SPOTS ON THE BOTTOM FROM SITTING FOR A LONG TIME THAT USUALLY SMOOTH OUT WHEN DRIVEN ESPECIALLY AFTER 30 OR 40 MILES ON A WARM DAY, BUT AFTER A 400 MILE TRIP IT DIDN'T SMOOTH OUT, IN FACT IT SEEMS TO HAVE WORSENED. BEFORE PURCHASING IT FROM A PRIVATE PARTY I RAN AN INSTAVIN AND CARFAX REPORT AND ONLY DISCOVERED AN UNCOMPLETED NHTSA RECALL #05S28 ON THE SPEED CONTROL ONLY. I THEN SEARCHED SEVERAL FORUMS AND DISCOVERED MANY, MANY REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SHAKING AND LEARNED IT IS DUE TO FAULTY WHEELS AND FORD IS NOT MAKING GOOD THE PROBLEM BUT OFFERED AN EXPENSIVE FIX THAT I UNDERSTAND IS ALSO IFFY. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY FAMILY'S SAFETY DRIVING ON THESE DEFECTIVE WHEELS AND FIRST LOOKED INTO REPLACING THE TIRES WHICH I LEARNED ISN'T THE PROBLEM BUT THE FAULTY WHEELS THAT WERE AN OEM FORD PART, SO I WANT TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE MANY YOU ALREADY HAVE AND MAYBE FORD WILL FIX THIS POTENTIALLY SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD ECONO RV S-DUTY EQUIPPED WITH A SAMSUNG MICROWAVE, MODEL MR5493G. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS IDENTICAL TO OVEN CIRCUIT RECALL NUMBER: 03E044400. A NEIGHBOR ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RV WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE MICROWAVE CAUSED THE FIRE AND SHE EXTINGUISHED IT WITHOUT NOTIFYING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED AN EXTENSIVE BURN ON HER LEG, BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. SAMSUNG ADVISED HER THAT THEY HAD NO PARTS TO REPAIR THE MICROWAVE ALTHOUGH IT WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO AUTHORIZED RV DEALERS IN HER AREA TO REPLACE THE MICROWAVE. THE MICROWAVE WAS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT IN THE RV AND IT WAS MOUNTED ON THE CEILING OF THE RV. THE FIRE BURNED A HOLE IN THE CEILING AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE CABINETS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT DRIVEN THE RV SINCE THE FIRE OCCURRED DUE TO THE SAFETY RISK AND THE HOLE IN THE CEILING. THE SERIAL AND PART NUMBERS WERE UNKNOWN. *TT

SPARK PLUG EJECTION WITH PLUG PARTS GOING INTO MOTOR AND PUTTING HOLE IN PISTON-THIS IS A WORK VAN-NO WAY TO ECONOMICALLY FIX IT. HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING 25MPH ON CITY STREET
IF YOU LOWER THE STEERING WHEEL FOR COMFORTABLE STEERING THE BLINKERS AND BRAKES AND SEVERAL OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS STOP WORKING. WHILE IN MOTION OR STOPPED.IF YOU RAISE THE STEERING WHEEL LL THE WAY BACK UP THE THINGS START WORKING AGAIN.
MY MARK III CONVERSION VAN HAS A FUEL LEAKING FROM THE MID-SHIP TANK. I NOTICED THAT THERE IS A RECALL FROM FORD, BUT WHEN I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER ENFIELD FORD IN ENFIELD CT THEY RAN THE VIN AND STATED MY VAN WAS EXCLUDED. THE ONLY TIME IT LEAKS IS WHEN I AM PUMPING GAS, IF I PUMP SLOWLY THERE IS LESS FUEL SPILLING ON THE GROUND

BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT OF ENGINE 2ND ONE THAT HAS HAPPEN AND IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WITH THIS ENGINE

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE STEEL BELT WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,012 AND THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,913.

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL STRAP BENEATH THE FUEL TANK ON THE REAR AXLE WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WELDING ON THE TAIL PIPE WAS ALSO RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
THE VEHICLE STALLS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS DUE TO LACK OF FUEL. INVESTIGATION PROVED THAT THE INTERIOR PAINT OF THE GAS TANK PEALS BLOCKING THE FUEL PUMP. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT DELAMINATION OF THE GAS TANK IS FREQUENT IN THIS MODEL CAUSING A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AS THE VAN CAN STOP AT ANYTIME AS IT LOOSES POWER AND PROPULSION DUE TO THE PAINT FLAKES BLOCKING THE FUEL. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MAIN PROPANE TANK NEEDED TO BE LIFTED OFF THE SPRING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 1999 FORD ECONOLINE 350 EQUIPPED WITH KELLY TIRES, TIRE LINE: SAFARI LT, TIRE SIZE LT23585R16. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, A LOUD BANGING NOISE AND THE SOUND OF METAL BEING DRAGGED ON THE GROUND WAS HEARD FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE HAD NOT BEEN REPLACED.THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300,000. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
