DOPE, INC. IS RECALLING 42,540 COMBINATION CORNER AND BUMPER LAMP ASSEMBLIES OF VARIOUS PART NUMBERS SOLD FOR USE AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE LAMPS DO NOT CONTAIN THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS.
Consequence: DECREASED LIGHTING VISIBILITY MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: DOPE, INC. WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND OFFER A FULL REFUND FOR THE NONCOMPLIANT COMBINATION LAMPS. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 28, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DOPE, INC. AT 1-626-272-1798.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH CRUISE CONTROL AND V6 ENGINES, AND BUILT AT ONE OF TWO LINES AT THE KENTUCKY PLANT. THE ACCELERATOR CABLE HOUSING COULD BE DEFORMED AT THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATOR-TO-THROTTLE BODY CONNECTION. THE ACCELERATOR INNER-CABLE COULD WEAR AWAY AND EVENTUALLY BREAK.
Consequence: THIS COULD ALLOW THE THROTTLE TO RETURN TO IDLE OR REMAIN IN ITS MOST RECENT POSITION REGARDLESS OF ACCELERATOR PEDAL OPERATION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ACCELERATOR CABLE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN FEBRUARY 23, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT TOYOTA AT 1-800-331-4331.
aftermarket drive side corner light will not stay on and work

NOTHING HAPPENED YET, SINCE I CANNOT KNOW FOR SURE IF THESE ARE BAD AIR BAGS SINCE CAR WAS IN ACCIDENT AND REPAIRED WITH REPLACEMENT AIR BAGS IN PAST, SO NO WAY TO FIND OUT UNLESS TOYOTA PAYS TO CHECK THEM FIRST AND MAYBE REPLACED. WORRIED THAT REPLACEMENT AIR BAG ARE DEFECTIVE OR DANGEROUS NO ONE IS ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE WHY??? MY REPLACEMENTS NEED TO BE CHECKED BY SERIAL NUMBER???
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS AND TRAC OFF INDICATORS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JACK TAYLOR'S ALEXANDRIA TOYOTA (703-684-0700, LOCATED AT 3750 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, ALEXANDRIA, VA 22305) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 274,000.
THE VEHICLE UPON START HAD GOT HEAVY. IT WOULD ONLY INCH UPON HEAVY ACCELERATION. THEN SUDDENLY AT TURNING, RETAINED NORMALITY AND BURST FORWARD
I TURNED ON REAR DEFROST AND WITHIN FEW SECONDS BACK SEAT WAS ON FIRE. WINDOW BURNT SEAT AND SEAT BELT ALSO BURNED HAND. IT APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A POSSIBLE ELECTRICAL CAUSE. I FIGURED A FUSE WOULD BLOW PRIOR TO A FIRE INSIDE CAR. HAD I BEEN ON FWY I WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN LUCKY GAS TANK IS INCHES BELOW FIRE .

OUR MECHANIC HAS TRIED MANY SOLUTIONS TO REPAIR THIS AND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS LATER, WE ARE NOW BEING TOLD IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM TO THIS VEHICLE - THE EVAPORATION VAPOR CANISTER. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THIS PIECE WAS PART OF A LAWSUIT AGAINST TOYOTA THAT TOYOTA LOST. WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY OVER $400 FOR A PART SO THAT IT PASSES INSPECTION. ESPECIALLY WHEN TOYOTA KNEW THIS PART WAS A PROBLEM. TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR OF THIS PART.
THE HEAD LIGHT HAVE VERY LOW ILLUMINATION AND BARELY LOOK LIKE THEY ARE ACTUALLY ON AT NIGHT. THIS IS HAS BEEN A MAJOR SAFETY RISK TO DRIVE THIS CAR AT NIGHT. TOYOTA NEED TO RECALL THESE HEADLIGHTS AND FIX THE DESIGN FLAW,
AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASHBOARD BLINKS
ON MY 1999 TOYOTA SOLARA I HAVE TO USE HIGH BEAMS JUST TO SEE, AND MY CAR WENT 90 MPH BEFORE SLOWING UP,MY HANDICAPPED SON WAS SO SCARED! THEN IT JUST CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. HE HAD TO COAST TO SAFETY AND NOW IT NEEDS A NEW MOTOR !! RECALLS ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS PERTAIN TO THE 1999 SOLARA AND ARE CRITICAL. THIS IS TWICE LIFE WAS ENDANGERED AND TOYOTA IS DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP RESOLVE THIS VERY SERIOUS ISSUE . I GUESS THEY WAIT TILL SOMEONE DIES IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE TOYOTA DOES WHAT THEY SHOULD DO TO KEEP THE PUBLIC SAFE!!! MY CAR IS JUST SITTING THERE , HOW MUCH DOES TOYOTA CARE WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN REPLACE THE PETAL OR EXCELLERATION PROBLEM?? LET THERE FAMILY MEMBER BE ENDANGERED AND SEE ! WHILE GOING SHOPPING TO GET OUR WEEKEND NEWSPAPERS,OUR CAR EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION AND WOULD NOT STOP.THE ONLY WE HAD TO STOP IT WAS TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK WHILE MOVING FORWARD.THE CAR WENT OVER A CURB.
