Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE:SOFTWARE
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence: DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N222386380. Component: SUSPENSION:REAR
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The rear suspension outer control arm bolts may not have been properly heat-treated, which can cause the bolts to break.
Consequence: A broken suspension bolt can result in misalignment of the rear wheel, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace both rear suspension outer control arm bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 14, 2023. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020; Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006; and GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N232415910.
We were driving down the highway at around 77 miles per hour. I noticed that the vehicle chimed as though I initially got into it and needed to start the engine. I saw the dashboard asking me to start the engine. I attempted to start it while we were coasting to a stop, but it wouldn't start. I was able to barely get out of the lane of travel and avoid a collision. I tried to turn off the vehicle and turn it back on but it would not start. It would not even turn over. The vehicle eventually cannibalized the battery because it would never shut off.
At less than 50,000 miles, my alternator went out and had to be replaced, causing the battery to need to be replaced also. Now, at only 51,000 miles, my transmission is having problems and causing the vehicle to jerk when shifting. This vehicle has had regular maintenance performed by a combination of dealers and certified service centers since it was purchased brand new. I have never had this much trouble with a vehicle and am very concerned about it's overall safety and integrity, given the severity of the problems for something that is not old and does not have high mileage.
Passed a truck in 2023 Chevy Tahoe on a two lane highway and the Tahoe would not accelerate. It switched into neutral and would not run. This was a major safety issue. There was a semi truck behind me that could have run over me and my family. Luckily there was wide open area next to the road that I coast into. Truck was towed to a dealership out of state while we were on vacation.
My wife just picked up our 4 year old from daycare. She just merged onto I-81N and the vehicle shut off on her at highway speed during rush hour! A message on the dashboard said "Please restart vehicle". She managed to pull the Tahoe off onto the shoulder, but couldn't get it started. She remained in the vehicle with my daughter and called 911 to request a state police vehicle park behind her so that she wouldn't be hit by any passing traffic. I (her husband) met her on the side of the highway and we tried starting it with a battery booster pack to no avail. We called a tow truck and had the car towed to the dealership that we purchased the vehicle from. They confirmed that the motor was indeed locked up and needs to be replaced. This vehicle already underwent the 6.2L recall test and "PASSED". It was running the 'remedy' 0W-40 oil. This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.
The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe has 5 NHTSA recalls and 176 consumer complaints on file. It received an overall safety rating of 4 out of 5 stars in NHTSA crash testing. Component: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:BRAKE FLUID LOW WARNING: LAMP
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, and Escalade ESV vehicles. The electronic brake control module software may fail to display a warning light when a loss of brake fluid occurs. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Vehicle Safety Standard number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Consequence: Without a warning light, the vehicle may be driven with low brake fluid, which can reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The Electronic Brake Control Module (eBCM) software will be updated through an over-the-air (OTA) update or by a dealer, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 25, 2024. Owners can contact GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N242447990.
Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:HARD PARTS INTERNAL/MECHANICAL
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.
Consequence: Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Component: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY
General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021 Cadillac Escalade, 2021, 2023-2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, and 2022 and 2024 GMC Yukon vehicles equipped with a 6-cylinder diesel engine. The original fuel tank may have been replaced with an incorrect fuel tank, which can allow fuel to leak in a rollover crash.
Consequence: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect for the correct fuel tank and replace it, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 5, 2025. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-333-4223, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252512770. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on September 18, 2025.
Engine failure resulting in new engine.
1) The engine failed and lost propulsion while driving. It is currently at the dealership where I purchased the vehicle new, so it may be available for inspection upon request. 2) My safety was put at risk because the vehicle lost propulsion while driving. This is a dangerous situation in general. In my case I was able to pull over safely and have it towed to the dealership. 3) The problem is that the engine failed. This can be confirmed by the dealership. 4) This 6.2L engine was part of the N252494001 recall for specifically the issue of engine failure and loss of propulsion, so it had been inspected by the dealership recently. I brought the vehicle into the dealership for this recall several months ago. Per the recall, they told me that the engine would need to be replaced if it didn't pass the inspection. They performed a Pico test, informed me that it passed the test, and changed the oil to 0W-40. It has not been inspected by GM, the police, insurance representatives or others at this time. 5) There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 50 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted before the engine seized. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the reverse(R) indicator was flashing. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The semi-truck behind the vehicle almost crashed into the rear of the vehicle. After several minutes, the contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, the failure reoccurred. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the reverse(R) indicator light was flashing. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and pulled over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to accelerate 5 MPH. The contact drove back to the residence slowly. The contact arrived at the residence, and the vehicle failed to shift into reverse(R). The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Total Engine Failure
The vehicle motor goes out with no indication that anything’s going to happen. It does this a different stages of miles. Mine happened when I was passing someone on the high way. It just shut off
Our vehicle passed their inspection required test for the engine recall and then at an intersection just died with absolutely no warning and wouldn’t even start again. Warning light for low engine oil came on. We were stuck and couldn’t even put the vehicle in neutral to be towed out of the intersection. Had to call a flat bed tow truck to load it and take to dealership where it was confirmed the engine failed!!! Police did show up at the scene to facilitate traffic and the loading of th vehicle
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) in November 2025 by the local dealer. The contact stated that the engine had passed the inspection, and a higher viscosity oil had been added along with the other steps stated in the recall. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The gear shift indicator indicated that the transmission had been shifted into neutral(N). The contact attempted to shift to drive(D) when the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was stopped but was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the same dealer who had completed the recall repair. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine, starter, radiator, and fuse block needed to be replaced. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
My 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe LS has experienced repeated service issues within the first year of ownership. The vehicle has been in the repair shop five separate times and out of service for approximately five months total. Due to extended repair periods, the mileage remains extremely low. A primary concern involved the steering system. The steering wheel was noticeably off-center while driving straight, requiring continuous correction to maintain proper lane position. Steering-related components were inspected and replaced. There were no warning lights present at the time. However, improper steering alignment raised safety concerns regarding vehicle tracking and stability. The vehicle has been inspected and repaired by authorized service providers. I am submitting this complaint to determine whether this reflects a broader safety-related issue with this model year.
I took my 2023 Chevy Tahoe in for all recall corrections promptly when the notices were received. My last recall was to run a check to see if my motor was one of the defective 6.2L engines. It was determined it was not and the dealer changed my oil to the new required 0w-40w. Now a month later as I am accelerating on to the freeway ,I am at 65 MPH I cross traffic to merge on to a connector bridge and my car RPM's go through the roof and the car starts to slowly lose power. Zero warning lights are on at this point just decreasing power. As I am on the bridge my engine light comes on with a engine oil hot idle engine notice I am now at 35 MPH. Then a oil pressure low turn vehicle off notice comes up and we are at 15 MPH the car turns off. The screen says press start again but as we do it wont do anything. It then randomly starts turning off and on. We got to a point on the bridge where we could coast to the connecting freeway below and pull over. My car was towed to the dealer where it has been confirmed it needs a new motor with no know ETA of the new motor.
Since 15,394 miles vehicle has experience multiple system failures upon vehicle startup. 2/24, 2/25, 12/25, 1/26. In all of these 4 instances the brakes become spongy/hard, steering wheel locks, and I am not able to control vehicle. Dash lights up; "Brake system failure - 43mph top speed", "Fwd collision system unavailable", "Service traction control", "Service ESC", "Service steering column lock", "Service brake pad monitor". Dealership has replaced, Telematic control module, Electronic brake control module (EBCM), Serial data gateway module, Park assist module and most recently they replaced the battery and cleared the codes to "fix" the same intermittent but recurring condition. In 11/24 Recall N242447990 was performed, reprogramming of Brake system control module and Serial Data Gateway Module, the exact same issue happened before and after the recall.
To NHTSA, I am reporting a serious safety defect in my 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe purchased from Criswell Chevrolet (Gaithersburg, MD). Defects include a documented brake system failure while driving and repeated electrical/shift faults preventing shifting out of Park. The issue is ongoing even after the dealer/manufacturer stated it was fixed. Key events: Feb 3, ~12:45 pm: While traveling ~35–39 mph on a five‑lane road, brakes failed. I slowed by coasting uphill and using maximum pedal force to ~5–7 mph before stopping. I have video of the incident and two other times this has happened with pictures as the car was in park. Three prior start-up incidents: All dash lights illuminated (including brake failure and Forward Collison System Unavailable); vehicle stuck in Park. First required towing; dealer could not replicate despite reported stored codes. Subsequent event stranded my family. I have notified Chevrolet and the dealer; their offer does not address safety or recurrence. Please record this complaint, assess broader risk, and advise on related recalls/investigations. If there is a path forward to ensure the safety of my family, please respond with that guidance. My phone number is [XXX] .
