THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE LAMPS DO NOT CONTAIN THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS.
Consequence: DECREASED LIGHTING VISIBILITY MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CHEVROLET CAMARO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH AND NOTICED A BURNING ODOR. IN ADDITION, TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE HOOD AREA AND A FIRE ERUPTED FROM THE DIPSTICK TUBE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIR. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER, WHO REFUSED TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
ORIGINAL OWNER OF 95 CAMARO 350 ENGINE THAT DID REGULAR MOBIL 1 OIL CHANGES AND HAS 97000 MILES. HAD TO REPLACE DAMAGED-WORN CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT GM IS HAVING WITH OTHER CARS ALSO. I HAD A PROBLEM BACK IN THE 70'S WHEN GM HAD A RECALL ON SOFT CAM SHAFTS AND THIS LOOKS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I JUST HAD FIXED ON THIS 1995. *TR
LOSS ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING CAR TO WORK. CAR WAS STRANDED ON SIDE OF ROAD. HAD CAR TOWED TO REPAIR CENTER. TECHNICIANS REPLACED COMPUTER MODULE AND OPTI-SPARK DISTRIBUTOR . A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER CAR WOULD NOT START. SYMPTOMS SIMILAR TO BAD BATTERY. REPLACED BATTERY, CAR WOULD STILL NOT START. HAD CAR TOWED TO REPAIR CENTER. AT CAR REPAIR CENTER CAR STARTED WITHOUT ANY SERVICING BEING PERFORMED. REPAIRMAN COULD NOT FIND OR EXPLAIN POSSIBLE REASON FOR CONDITION. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER ANOTHER SUDDEN LOSS OF ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM THE GROCERY STORE. MANAGED TO COAST CAR TO A SAFE LOCATION OFF THE ROAD. AFTER A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, POWER RETURNED AND WAS ABLE TO START CAR AND DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. *TR

CERTAIN HONEYWELL FRAM RACING BRAND HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED FROM MAY 25, 2006, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 14, 2007, AND SOLD FOR USE AS REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT FOR VEHICLES LIST ABOVE. THE AFFECTED FILTERS ARE MARKED WITH A DATE CODE A61451 THROUGH A72571 SEQUENTIALLY. THE DATE CODE AND PART NUMBER APPEAR ON THE FILTER HOUSING. FRAM RACING HP4 AND HP8 OIL FILTERS NOT BEARING A DATE CODE IN THIS RANGE ARE NOT AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL. THE GASKET OF THE OIL FILTER BECOMES MORE PLIABLE UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE INADEQUATE SEALING AND LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.
Remedy: HONEYWELL WILL REPLACE THE AFFECTED OIL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN DURING NOVEMBER 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT FRAM CUSTOMER SERVICE TOLL-FREE AT 1-800-890-2075.
Component: STEERING:GEAR BOX (OTHER THAN RACK AND PINION)
THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT COULD HAVE BEEN IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED CAUSING THE SHAFT LOWER COUPLING TO LOOSEN AND ROTATE ON THE STEERING GEAR INPUT SHAFT.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT FOR THE CORRECT LOWER COUPLING AND REPLACE IT AS REQUIRED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CHEVROLET CAMARO. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE BUMPERS ON BOTH VEHICLES WERE SCRATCHED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, THE PEDAL WOULD DROP 3 INCHES AND THEN RE-ENGAGE AFTER 2 SECONDS. THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE PEDAL RETURNED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 180,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, FLAMES ERUPTED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE PULLED OVER AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE ENGINE AND FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WERE COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE SERVICE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. AN INSPECTOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER WAS SENT TO INSPECT THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE CONTACT SUSPECTED A MELTED SECTION OF THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE MELTED AND LEAKED FUEL ONTO THE HOT ENGINE CAUSING THE FIRE.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ANY SPEED. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP DETERMINED THE STEERING SHAFT COUPLING WAS LOOSE. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, #95V046000, REGARDING THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER, IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN.
I WAS HEADING NORTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND I CHANGED LANES FROM THE LEFT TO THE RIGHT LANE. ONCE I CHANGED LANES MY CAR JERKED VICIOUSLY BACK TO THE LEFT I CORRECTED THE PROBLEM AND WENT BACK TO THE RIGHT, BUT THE CAR RAN OFF THE ROAD AND LOST THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL AND TIRE. THE TIRE WAS STILL INTACT WITH THE HUB AND AXLE (LUG NUTS WERE STILL CONNECTED ALL OF THEM WERE TIGHT.) THIS SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED. I BELIEVE I WRECKED BECAUSE MY REAR AXLE BROKE. AND FURTHER MORE MY AIR BAGS MUST HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT. THEY HAD DEPLOYED WHEN THE TOW TRUCKS BROUGHT THE CAR OUT OF THE HOLE. *NM
I HAVE HAD MY CAMARO FOR AWHILE NOW AND I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE WINDOWS HAVE BEGUN TO SCRATCH JUST BY ROLLING THEM UP AND DOWN. AND ALSO THE WINDOW RATTLES WHEN THE DOOR IS SHUT. I HAVE TALKED TO PEOPLE ABOUT IT AND FOUND OUT IT IS A COMMON THINGS IN CAMAROS. NOW I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S MISTAKE. *AK
A PAIR OR POWER WIRES SHORTED OUT BY TOUCHING THE SUPPORT WIRES UNDER MY DRIVERS SIDE SEAT CAUSEING THE WIRES TO HEAT UP MELTING AND SCORCHING THE FOAM UNDER THE SEAT, CAUSING A SMALL FIRE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT COLLISION AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING A RAINSTORM. THE VEHICLE HYDROPLANED, SPUN AROUND, AND STRUCK THE MEDIAN. THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED TO HELP GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *SCC *JB
MY DAUGHTER PUSHED IN THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER THAT IS WHEN SHE SAW A SPARK AND A TRAIL OF FIRE GOING TO TOP OF STEREO AND OVER TO STEERING AREA. SHE PARKED CAR AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. THE ONLY THING LEFT OF MY CAR IS BACK TIRES AND TAILLIGHTS. I HAVE HAD THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE LIGHT STAYING ON. WIPERS WORK ONLY WHEN AND IF THEY FEEL LIKE IT. THEY DON'T COVER GLASS ON DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. NOT BEING ABLE TO GO UP OR DOWN IF YOU DIDN'T WAIT AN HOUR IN BETWEEN. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 70000 MILES ALL FACTORY NOTHING ADDED ON. *PH

MY 16-YEAR OLD SON WAS INVOLVED IN A FENDER-BENDER. BOTH THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, DESTROYING THE DASH AND WINDSHIELD OF HIS 1995 CHEVY CAMARO. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF HIS CAR FROM THE CRASH, EXCEPT FOR A BROKEN FOG LIGHT, AS HE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX 5-8 MPH. THE AIR BAG RIPPED THE DASH FROM THE FIREWALL, BURNED HIS ARM AND SCRATHCED HIS FACE AND ARMS. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IN THIS LOW SPEED THIS MUCH DAMAGE SHOULD HAVE RESULTED FROM THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT. WHEN I SPOKE TO PRODUCT ALLEGATIONS GROUP WITH GM, THEY AGREED WITH ME THAT THIS TYPE OF AIR BAG WAS DESIGNED FOR"MODERATE-TO-SEVERE CRASHES", NOT A LOW-SPEED INCIDENT. BUT UPON LOOKING AT PICTURES SUPPLIED BY THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER, GM IS NOW TELLING ME THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED BASED ON THE SOUND WAVES COMING FROM THE STEREO SYSTEM. WHAT A LOAD OF BUNK! IF THAT IS THE CASE, AIR-BAGS SHOULD BE GOING OFF ALL OVER THE PLACE. AND IF THAT WERE TRUE, ISN'T THAT ALSO A DESIGN FLAW? PLEASE CONTACT ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE....I BELIEVE THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING MY SON'S DESTROYED DASH AND WINDSHIELD, BASED ON THE FACT THAT THE AIR-BAGS WERE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.
