SEAT BELTSApril 24, 2026
Third row seatbelts broke. They came undone from where they are bolted to the bottom of the car. My children were in their car seats anchored by the seatbelts when these broke when the vehicle was moving and they flew sideways. Looks like poor products were used to secure the seatbelt, there are signs of product disintegration and rust coloring on belt where they occurred.

NHTSA #11733603SERVICE BRAKESJuly 22, 2025
Parking brake requires continual adjustment. Brake becomes non functional when brakes are hot and then park on a hill. Examples would include pulling our boat and going to the boat ramp off the highway. Parking brakes loses any ability to hold the vehicle.
UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMJune 29, 2025
Fuel filler door hinge and pin does not work properly. The hinge, door, and pin are bent. This prohibits 1) opening the door, 2) filling the gas tank, and 3) the door from closing properly. The spacing around the door is not equal and is askew, tilted to the bottom right and dips inward. Toyota seems to have used this design on other models, eg Camry, Sienna, etc. I located a NHTSA Customer Support Bulletin for those models with a similar fuel filler door hinge and pin design; however, I was not able to not locate one for a 2019 Toyota Sequoia. Your website does not allow video uploads, so 3 photos are attached: 1) widest point the door will open with assistance, 2) widest door will open without assistance, and 3) the door closed. Please look into this matter. Please 1) provide replacement for current owners, and 2) send feedback to Toyota to engineer a better option for future vehicles. Many thanks,
SUSPENSIONApril 30, 2024
My 2019 Toyota Sequoia Platinum with air suspension is leaning to the left. The driver rear measured from the center of the tire hub to the bottom of the fender is 1and 1/8 inch lower than the passenger rear. There was a similar Toyota T-SB-0179-17 with a similar issue that was issued for 2013-2016 Toyota Sequoia Platinum vehicles with air suspension. Please look into this and potentially extend the previous TSB or issue a new one to solve this issue. Thank you.
STEERINGSeptember 1, 2023
I took my 2019 Sequoia to Toyota of Knoxville for scheduled maintenance and was told the boots on my rack of my power steering has a leak and needs to be repaired for the cost of $2000. My Sequoia has 84,308 miles and I was told this was caused by "normal wear and tear." When I started looking into it I found a recall for 2008-2022 Sequoias with the exact same issue as mine (Toyota Recall 21TB10 or 21TA10) issued on November 22, 2021, but was told that despite my car having the same issue that it was not covered by the recall and I would have to pay for repairs to-of-pocket. Upon further research, the number one cause for leaks in power steering is age and use, again, my Sequoia is a 2019 with 84,308 miles, so neither would apply.
UNKNOWN OR OTHERFebruary 28, 2021
ON FEBRUARY 23RD, 2021, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES PER HOUR ON I-40, THE MOON ROOF ON MY 2019 TOYOTA SEQUOIA INEXPLICABLY EXPLODED. IT WAS WELL BEFORE RUSH HOUR AND THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC TO SEND DEBRIS TOWARDS ME. NOTHING HIT ME. THE GLASS EXPLODED OUTWARD. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE ROOF OF MY VEHICLE.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMJune 18, 2020
THIS COMMUNICATION IS IN REFERENCE TO A KNOWN FUEL PUMP PROBLEM FOR WHICH WE RECEIVED AN INTERIM NOTICE OF RECALL SOME TIME PRIOR TO 5/7/2020 (EXACT DATE UNKNOWN DUE TO COVID SHUT DOWN DELAYS). THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY/REPLACEMENT PART AVAILABLE. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TIER 2 SUPPORT HAS SUGGESTED THAT I REACH OUT THROUGH NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE IN EXPEDITING A SOLUTION THROUGH TOYOTA MANAGEMENT. THE REASON THIS IS SO CRITICAL IS THAT THIS VEHICLE IS PART OF AN EMERGENCY SERVICES FLEET OWNED BY DOWNSTREAM CASINO RESORT, AN ENTERPRISE OF THE QUAPAW NATION (TRIBAL). IT IS A SPECIALTY VEHICLE WHICH CARRIES LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL AND CANINE OFFICERS TO AND FROM MULTIPLE TRIBAL ENTERPRISES AND OTHER LOCATIONS AS REQUESTED BY OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. PERIODICALLY TRAVEL OCCURS AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED AND OVER LONG DISTANCES, UP TO 400 MILES. RELIABILITY OF THE VEHICLE IS CRITICAL TO THE LIVES OF THOSE IN IT, THOSE THEY SERVE, AS WELL AS THOSE THEY COULD POTENTIALLY BE TRAVELING TO ASSIST. IF THIS KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART FAILS DURING ONE OF THOSE PROCESSES IT COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. WE PURCHASED THESE VEHICLES NEW FROM A MANUFACTURER WE BELIEVED COULD SERVE THE RELIABILITY NEEDS OF OUR FLEET. WHILE WE UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE ALWAYS UNKNOWN POSSIBILITIES, WE ARE DISAPPOINTED THAT A REMEDY IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE, AND WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO OBTAIN A COMMITMENT FOR AN EXPEDITED REMEDY TO, WHAT FOR US, IS A CRITICAL CONCERN. AGAIN, AS SUGGESTED, BY TOYOTA CUSTOMER SUPPORT, WE ARE REQUESTING ASSISTANCE IN PUSHING FOR AN EXPEDITED REMEDY. THANK YOU, [XXX], RISK MANAGER, DOWNSTREAM CASINO RESORT - AN ENTERPRISE OF THE QUAPAW NATION [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *CC *TR
