Received an error on the dash for Service Electronic Braking System and ABS System. Took to a mechanic and it is a failure of the Anti-Lock Brake Module. This is the same failure they are recalling other Ram trucks for already. I am not sure why the Ram 1500 is not included in the recall also.
1Rear end shifted to passenger side 3 in 2. The intermittent shaft made the steering wheel over turn over half a turn. 3 manifold bolts replaced but snapped again. Fuel pump went out. Tailgate has opened multiple times. 120 k seems unfit to drive wheel studs drivers rear broke off 1 by 1 till there were 2 left
Electronic Power Steering just stopped all of a sudden while I was going up the mountain into North Carolina that almost caused an accident the only reason it didn’t is because of the pull off right after the curve I was going through when I lost all steering! With the truck already in the pull off I stopped to see if I had lost a serpentine belt unaware this Ram is equipped with the EPS System. I had no phone service luckily someone came by when they did because of the snow storm seeing vehicles was few and far between! After letting the truck sit for about 20mins with the positive cable unhooked I started the truck and had steering again. So the nice gentleman that stopped said he would follow me to the nearest cell service area so I could call someone, No warning light the first time at all the second time the only warning light was service ABS system which shouldn’t affect having power steering. So I repeated the steps as I did the first time and had steering again the service ABS System light was gone and we made it 11 Minutes up the mountain before it happened again only this time all kinds of service lights came on all at once, Service Electronic brake system,Service ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, SERVICE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER, SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM, traction control was disabled which isn’t good in snowy weather conditions and i had no choice but to continue 3mins to the next town with no power steering no traction control and all these other warning lights because it wouldn’t fix it anymore temporarily by in hooking the positive battery cable and waiting 20 minutes which I attempted 3 times with no success once we reached the town I was able to call and have someone come pick me and my truck up and brought a scan tool I cleared the codes only for them to come right back as soon as I would crank the truck! Had it professionally scanned with same results! Very dangerous issue! Yes it can be inspected yes professionally inspected $2300part only not labor to!
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 1500. While the vehicle was at a dealer for routine maintenance, the contact was informed that the fuel system was fractured and rusted. Fortunately the vehicle was not in an accident. About a month ago ABS and traction control lights came on. Took pickup to mechanic with a C2200-49 code. Mechanic said the dealer could only fix the issue. Took to the dealer a couple of weeks ago and am now on a wait list with no indication when a repair can be made because of part availability. This problem seems to be the same as Ram 2500s have and have been recalled. The safety issue is the same.
The contact owns a 2017 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the service transmission warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that a transmission flush was needed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted, and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the power steering rack had short-circuited and needed to be replaced. The contact researched and was made aware of an unknown NHTSA recall; however, the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,455.
The Coolant liquid is absorved with no external leaking. There is an active Recall (19V-757, FCA Recall VB1) that the dealer said fits perfectly my vehicle but for some reason my VIN# is not included under the recall and they can not do anything unless I pay them.
I was driving on Interstate 20 in the third lane from the right of four total lanes when my truck suddenly lost all propulsion while attempting to pass another vehicle. The engine did not shut off, but it immediately dropped to very low RPM and the accelerator pedal no longer controlled the vehicle’s power. Multiple engine warning lights illuminated at the same time. I immediately activated my hazard lights and attempted to maneuver the vehicle across traffic to reach the shoulder. Because the vehicle had no propulsion, this created a dangerous situation in active interstate traffic. Several vehicles had to take evasive action and I experienced multiple near-collisions while trying to reach the shoulder. After safely stopping, I had the vehicle towed to my home and later towed again to the dealership at my own expense. The day before this incident, I received a recall notice in the mail related to this issue: Safety Recall 66A/23V-411. However, the dealership has informed me that my vehicle is only covered under recall 66A (a software update) and not recall 73A, which involves replacement of the tone wheel component. Based on the symptoms experienced and the dealership’s diagnosis, the tone wheel requires replacement. However, the dealership states that this repair is not covered under the recall currently assigned to my vehicle. Given that this failure caused a sudden and complete loss of propulsion at highway speed, I believe this issue is directly related to the safety concern described in the recall and poses a serious safety risk. I am requesting that NHTSA review whether the recall coverage for this issue is adequate and whether vehicles experiencing this failure should also be covered for tone wheel replacement.
