General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL, 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender, and Saab 9-7x vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the headlamp driver module (HDM) may overheat and fail, causing the headlamps and daytime running lights to not illuminate.
Consequence: Headlamps that do not illuminate reduce the driver's ability to see the roadway and reduce the vehicle's visibility to oncoming vehicles, both of which increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the HDM, free of charge. The recall began on May 17, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 or Pontiac customer service at 1-800-762-2737. GM's number for this recall is 14291.
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION
This defect can affect the safe operation of the airbag system. Until this recall is performed, customers should remove all items from their key rings, leaving only the ignition key. The key fob (if applicable), should also be removed from the key ring. General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, 1997-2003 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2005 Malibu Classic, 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am and 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

On March 27th, 2023, the car was parked and off for only approximately 5 minutes when the engine caught fire. The engine and vehicle is a complete loss. A claim has been filed with Farm Bureau insurance. There were no engine warning lights, smells, or smoke during or after driving, until the 5 minutes passed when the car was turned off. I did not locate any engine recalls due to fire for a 2007 Grand Prix. I noticed earlier models recalled due to potential fire.

The multifunction/turning signal switch is malfunctioning. It started in 2012 about a year after I purchased the car. The brights would randomly turn on without me touching the switch and then the brights would turn on when I'd use my turning signal. I delt with it for several years, but eventually it got so bad that the brights wouldn't even turn off at all. I would have to drive with my finger holding the switch to keep the brights off. It made it extremely difficult to drive the car, especially when I had to turn. It was very unsafe not having full control of the steering wheel just to keep the brights off. I finally decided to have the switch replaced in 2019 and it seemed to solve the issue until about 6 months ago. The brights started randomly coming on and now they are on all the time and won't shut off. I feel incredibly unsafe driving because of having to hold the switch so it stays off. I'm sure it's a nuisance/unsafe for other drivers to have bright lights in their eyes all the time while driving too. I believe the switch is faulty based on the fact that I've had two and have had the same issue with both of them.
steering wheel refusing to lock. therefore safety issue as car locks will not lock as a result. no messages or warning lights or behaviors. this happened once a year ago. and was able to lock steering by moving wheel and moving key in ignition.
The TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ITS GOING TO CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT WHILE IN DRIVE LEAVING A STOP LIGHT A CAR NEARLY SLAMMED INTO ME FROM BEHIND WHEN LIGHT CHANGED CAR HAD NO POWER TO GO. ON HIGHWAY IT DOES A SUDDEN HARD JERK WITH LOSS OF POWER SHIFTING INTO NXT GEAR.
I HAVE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHERS. HAVE BEEN ABLE TO START CAR SOMETIMES BY PUTTING IT IN NEUTRAL. SEVERAL YEARS AGO I LEFT THE CAR WITH OUR SON TO SEE IF HE COULD FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE MY WIFE QUIT DRIVING THE CAR AFTER BEING STRANDED A FEW TIMES. WHEN USING BLINKERS THE HIGH BEAM WOULD COME ON. IT HAS A ROARING SOUND LIKE A WHEEL BEARING GOING OUT.THE KEY FOB DOESN'T WORK. I'VE BEEN TOLD THE BCM BODY CONTROL MODULE COULD BE CAUSING PROBLEMS. HAD ESTIMATE OF $500 TO REPLACE AND PROGRAM NEW BCM.. WE HAVE TOWED CAR HOME AFTER GOING TO STORE. I USED TO DRIVE OTR SO WE GOT A SECOND VEHICLE TO DRIVE. AFTER READING OTHER POSTS ON THIS CAR 4/4/2021 I DON'T THINK I WANT TO PUT MORE MONEY INTO IT. ESPECIALLY WHEN I'VE READ GM TECHS CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEMS.. ONCE THE VACUUM LINE TO BRAKE BOOSTER CAME OFF WHEN MY WIFE WAS GOING DOWN HILL. I PUT THE LINE BACK ON, IT HASN'T DONE THAT AGAIN. WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR OUT OF TOWN FOR FEAR OF IT BREAKING DOWN. AND SHOPS NOT BEING ABLE TO TELL US WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT.. I TIED A CABLE ON TRUNK RELEASE SO I CAN OPEN TRUNK. . WE DID LOVE THE CAR WHEN IT WAS RUNNING. HAS 193,000K AT THIS TIME. HAS STALLED/QUIT ON CITY STREETS. AND WE QUIT DRIVING IT ON HIGHWAY.
MY 2007 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX HAD A HEADLAMP SWITCH PROBLEM. I WOULD BE DRIVING AT NIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD JUST GO OUT. SOMETIMES IF YOU'D KEEP THEM ON LOW BEAM YOU'D HAVE LIGHTS. BUT SOMETIMES EVEN THIS DIDN'T WORK. THERE WAS A RECALL IN THIS SO I TOOK IT IN FOR THE REPAIR. IT WORKED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT THEN QUIT WORKING AND THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AGAIN. WE PARKED THE CAR FOR A WHILE. THEN GAVE IT TO MY DAUGHTER AND HER HUSBAND. WE RECENTLY GOT THE CAR BACK FROM MY DAUGHTER BECAUSE THEY HAD BECAUSE OF THE SAME REASON. THEY WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED A GM DEALERSHIP HERE IN TOWN AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T COVERED. I THEN CALLED GM DIRECTLY AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR.
I HAVE A SECONDARY AIR ISSUE THAT WE CAN'T SEEM TO GET FIXED, EVEN WITH ALL THE PARTS WE HAVE REPLACED. ALSO AT NIGHT EVERY TIME I USE MY BLINKER THE HIGH BEAMS COME ON AND WON'T TURN OFF. THE ISSUE IS WHEN IM DRIVING AT NIGHT IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN MY BLINKER CLICKS BACK INTO PLACE.
PONTIAC WONT START, CHANGED STARTER, SAW RECALL FOR IGNITION SWITCH. RACK & PINION LEAK, COVER GASKET LEAK, SAW RECALL. AIR BAG CODE CAME UP.
MY LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS ARE BEGINNING TO FAIL. MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT NO LONGER TURNS ON AND I BELIEVE IT BE THE FAILURE OF THE HOOD LAMP DRIVER MODULE. AFTER REPLACING ALL BULBS AND CHECKING ALL FUSES. I HAVE CONCLUDED IT IS THIS RELAY THAT IS CAUSING MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS TO FAIL. THERE IS DOCUMENTATION THAT THIS IS A KNOWN FAILURE BUT MY CAR IS NOT SHOWING UP ON THE RECALL LIST.

MY "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT CAME ON. USED A SNAP ON $5000 SCANNER. CODES SAY GAS PEDAL SENSOR. CHANGED THAT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. CLEANED THROTTLE CASE. CAR STALLS AND I HAVE TO PRESS GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO 20 MILES AN HOUR. THERE ARE SO MANY BLOGS ON THIS PROBLEM ITS UNBELIEVABLE. I JUST HAD THE RECALLS FIXED ON THE IGNITION AND HEAD LIGHTS. NOW THIS ISSUE. PLEASE HELP. IM SINGLE, HOMELESS, AND UNEMPLOYED. THIS IS THE LAST THING I NEED RIGHT NOW.
MOUNTING OF POWER STEERING RACK SUDDENLY BROKE ON PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL ALLOWING IT TO TURN INDEPENDENTLY FROM LEFT FRONT WHEEL. I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVEING ON FREEWAY I COULD OF CRASHED AND LOST CONTROL OF CAR. WE CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID NO RECALL , WE FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL
