General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1997-2004 Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. The affected vehicles were previously repaired under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 to address the possibility that engine oil may drip onto the hot exhaust manifold.
Consequence: Engine oil that drips onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold may result in a fire.
Remedy: The remedy applied under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engines front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, or 15V-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on February 19, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Oldsmobile customer service at 1-800-442-6537 and Pontiac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 15757. GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING 1,497,516 MY 1997-2003 BUICK REGAL, MY 1998-2003 CHEVROLET LUMINA, MONTE CARLO AND IMPALA, MY 1998-1999 OLDSMOBILE INTRIGUE, MY 1997-2003 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.8L V6 NATURALLY ASPIRATED ENGINE. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH DROPS OF ENGINE OIL MAY BE DEPOSITED ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD THROUGH HARD BRAKING.
The contact owns a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the dealer for service under NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V701000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however after the service the vehicle started but did not idle due to an air intake hose not reinstalled on the vehicle. The contact stated that the air intake hose needs to be replaced however, the repairs have not been completed. The contact stated that before taking the vehicle into service the manufacturer was made aware of an issue with the dealer due to his interaction with the service manager. He was worried that the dealer was not going to service his vehicle correctly. The contact did not have a case number available as he stated that he had contacted the manufacturer several times. The contact stated that the vehicle had no issues before the recall service. The approximate failure mileage was 159,000.

TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 180K MILES. CAR WILL NOT SHIFT ON IT OWN I HAVE TO FORCE CAR INTO GEAR BY SPEEDING UP HEARING TRANSMISSION WHINE AND THEN LETTING OFF THE GAS PEDAL SO TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GEARS. THIS IS ON ALL ROAD CONDITIONS. DORMAN IS RECALLING 979 STEERING KNUCKLES, DORMAN P/NOS. 697-902 AND 697-903, SOLD UNDER DORMAN'S "OE SOLUTIONS<SUP>TM</SUP>" BRAND NAME, AND NAPA P/NOS. 7-8502 AND 7-8503 WHICH WERE SOLD FOR REPLACEMENT USE ON THE VARIOUS VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA.
Consequence: A BROKEN STEERING KNUCKLE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A POSSIBLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." GM IS RECALLING 207,542 MY 1997-2003 BUICK REGAL AND PONTIAC GRAND PRIX VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.8L SUPERCHARGED V-6 ENGINE. THESE VEHICLES HAVE HIGHER FRONT ROCKER COVER GASKET TEMPERATURES, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR EARLIER DEGRADATION OF THE FRONT ROCKER COVER GASKET AND EVENTUAL OIL SEEPAGE.
Consequence: CERTAIN UNDERHOOD FIRES MAY BE CAUSED BY DROPS OF ENGINE OIL, FROM SEEPAGE OR SPILLAGE, BEING DEPOSITED ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD THROUGH HARD BRAKING. CERTAIN DELPHI FUEL PRESSURE REGULATORS, P/NOS. FP10020-11B1, FP10026-11B1, AND FP10027-11B1, SOLD AFTER JANUARY 9, 2007, AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE UNIVERSAL PRESSURE REGULATORS (UPR) WERE PRODUCED WITHOUT AN O'RING AND RETAINER.
Consequence: FUEL MAY LEAK, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DELPHI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE UPR FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 23, 2007. OWNERS CAN CONTACT DELPHI AT 877-411-8770.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG MODULES HAVE AN UNDERSIZED INFLATOR ORIFICE.
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THAT WOULD TRIGGER A PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, THIS UNDERSIZED ORIFICE CAN CAUSE THE INFLATOR MODULE TO EXPLODE. IF AN AIR BAG INFLATOR MODULE EXPLODES, METAL AND/OR PLASTIC DEBRIS COULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG MODULES.

THE BUCKLE BASE OF THESE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES WERE NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND THEREFORE DO NOT PASS THE LOAD BEARING REQUIREMENT OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 209, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES."
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED.

I TOOK MY PONTIAC GTP TO BURLINGAME PUTNAM IN CA BECAUSE I CHECKED ON HERE NHTSA IF I HAD A RECALL AND I DID WHICH WAS FIRE WALL COMPARTMENT RECALL SO WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALER AND HAD MY CAR SERVICED I PICKED IT UP AND ONCE I GOT HOME I NOTICED ONE VALVE COVER WAS REPLACED WHICH WAS ONLY ONE VALVE COVER FACING THE FRONT OF THE CAR! THE VALVE COVER FACING THE REAR TOWARDS THE FIRE WALL WAS STILL THE OLD VALVE COVER! AND IS STILL LEAKING OIL WHICH IM AFRAID MIGHT TAKE OUT MY ENGINE IF IT BLOWS THE HEAD GASKET COMPLETELY AND CAUSE A FIRE,CAN EVEN CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT! PLEASE HELP. TECHNICIANS SHOULD DO A COMPLETE SERVICE NOT JUST HALF OF THE JOB AND BE LAZY TO NOT EVEN REPLACE THE REAR VALVE COVER THATS VERY IRRESPONSIBLE AND WHAT IF I HAD KIDS OR FAMILY WHEN THIS HAPPENS

EXCESSIVE OIL LEAK FROM THE TOP OF THE ENGINE. VALVE COVER GASKETS AND INTAKE GASKETS LEAKING OIL DIRECTLY ON TO THE MANIFOLD I SMELL IT BURNING EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT AND THERE IS A VISABLE PUDDLE OF OIL ON THE TOP OF THE ENGINE

A WHILE BACK THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX YEARS 2000 - 2004 IF IM NOT MISTAKEN DUE TO OIL LEAK CAUSING AN ENGINE FIRE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A PRIVATE OWNER AND WAS WONDERING IF THIS WAS THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT WHEN I PUT OIL IN IT IS DOES LEAK ON TO THE GROUND BUT WITH HOW MUCH OIL I PUT IT IN ALREADY DOESNT EXPLAIN WHERE THE REST OF IT WENT, ID SAY ABOUT 5 QUARTS IN A DAY. I JUST DONT WANT TO BE DRIVING AND SUDDENLY HAVE THE ENGINE CATCH FIRE IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE DOWN THE ROAD AT 55MPH, THE VEHICLE WILL JUST CUT OFF FOR NO REASON, THEREBY I LOSE CONTROL OF LL THE VEHICLE SAFETY COMPONETS,HAVING TO TRY AND GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENS TO A LOT OF GM VEHICLE MADE IN THIS VEHICLE YEAR. THERE ARE MANY ON THE INTERNET WITH THE SAME VEHICLE DEFECT. THIS IS CLEARLY A GM VEHICLE DEFECT. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALL AS A PUBLIC SAFETY HAZZARD. MYGM REFERENCE NUMBER IS ( 8-3665783770). SO PLEASE DO THE PUBLIC A SERVICE AND HAVE THIS VEHICLE RECALL , BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM IS A PUBLIC SAFETY HAZZARD. NO ONE MECHANIC SEEN TO BE ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I AM PROBABLY THE 3RD OWNER OF THIS CAR AND WAS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THE RECALL EXISTS BECAUSE I WAS SEARCHING FOR A REASON FOR MY CAR TO EXPERIENCE AN ENGINE FIRE THIS PAST MONDAY. AFTER CALLING THE MANUFACTURER, IT APPEARS THAT THE SEARCH FOR CURRENT OWNERS IS NOT IN THE PURVIEW OF THE MANUFACTURER AND ALL OF THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RESEARCH OF THE CAR IS ON THE PURCHASER. AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE, THE CAR HAD BEEN BEING DRIVEN TO THE COFFEE STORE, WHEN RETURNING TO THE CAR ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER, IT WAS DISCOVERED TO BE ENGULFED IN FLAME. WITH FLAMES COMING OUT FROM THE HOOD. MY ISSUE IS WITH THE RESPONSIBILITY OF NOTIFICATION AND THE REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF A CONSUMER THAT THE MANUFACTURER OF A LICENSED VEHICLE MAKE ATTEMPTS TO COMMUNICATE RECALL DATA BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER. ALL STATES MONITOR ALL LICENSED VEHICLES INCLUDING THE CURRENT OWNER. IT SEEMS THAT THIS DATA CAN BE UTILIZED TO MAKE A FAR BETTER ATTEMPT TO LOCATE OWNERS WHEN SUCH A HAZARD EXISTS WITH THE CAR. I WAS COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE RECALL STATUS OF THIS CAR.
THE CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW AT DESERT PONITAC, IT APPEARED NOT TO HAVE THE ALARM I WAS TOLD WAS INSTALLED IN THIS CUSTOM CAR OR EVEN AIRBAGS WITHOUT ME EVEN KNOWING-IN THE PAST SEVERAL VEHICLES HAVE BEEN TAKEN WITHOUT MY PERMISSION , GETTING MORE BOLD AND VICIOUS EVEN TO MY OWN HOUSE IN ANAHIEM .CA WHERE I MOVED TO GET AWAY FORM PEOPLE FROM RIVERSIDE , ALLERGAN PHARM-AND PEOPLE FROM A GROCERY STORE NEAR THE TYLER MALL RIVERSIDE .CA - THE FOLLOWING AGES HAVE BEEN STOLEN WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION OF ANY KIND- APPEARING THE ME , BY [XXX] AND AN ASIAN WOMAN APPEARING IN THE FARRELS AS FAR BACK 1972 AND CONTINUING ON EVEN REPORTING THIS AT MY OWN WEDDING IN 1985 TO TWO ORANGE COUNTY SHERIFFS AT MY WEDDING THAT MY CAR WAS ALREADY MISSING FROM THE PARKING LOT BEFORE THE WEDDING WAS EVEN OVER-ANAHEIM .CA BALL RD-CAMEO WEDDING CHAPEL-[XXX] MY BROTHER WAS AT THAT TIME ALLOW TO DRIVE MY CAR BUT NOT TO GIVE IT TO ANYONE AT ALL-(HE LIVED IN FOUNTAIN VALLEY.CA- I ASKED THE ANAHEIM POLICE TO REPORT [XXX] AS THE HOUSE I LOVE [XXX] SHE KEEPS TRYING TO TAKE PEOPLES HOUSES AND [XXX] DOES NOT PROTECT ME OR MY CHILDREN AS HIS SISTER- AS HER BROTHER USED TO OWN THE HOUSE ? TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2000 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX. AFTER DRIVING A MILE FROM THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND PARKING AT A BUSINESS DISTRICT, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V116000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 179,000.
IN SEPT 2011 MY 2000 PONTIAC GRAN PRIZ BURST INTO FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD IT WAS PARKED AT FARM CREDIT. I ONLY HAD LIABILITY INSURANCE SO NO CLAIM WAS FILED. I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A POSSIBLE ENGINE FIRE. I CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE CAR ANYMORE. OF COURSE I DON'T HAVE THE CAR IT BURNT COMPLETELY UP!!!
