Component: BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Odyssey, 2019-2020 Passport, and 2019-2021 Pilot vehicles. Incorrect instrument panel control module software can cause the instrument panel to not display critical information, such as engine oil pressure, speedometer, and gear selector position until the next ignition cycle. Additionally, it can prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 101, "Control and Displays" and 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
Consequence: Operating a vehicle without a functioning instrument panel or rearview camera display increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the instrument panel control module software, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is T89.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Pilot, 2019-2020 Odyssey and 2019-2020 Passport vehicles. Incorrect central network software programming may cause several errors to occur that can delay or prevent the rearview camera image from displaying. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rearview Mirrors."
Consequence: A delayed or inoperative rearview camera display can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners that updated software is available. Owners have the option to either follow the mailed instructions to download and update the software for free, or visit a dealer to have the software update performed, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is Y7Y.
I own a 2019 Honda Pilot. The transmission failed and was replaced under warranty in October 2023. In March 2026, the same transmission problem occurred again and the vehicle is now not drivable. The dealership diagnosed the issue and estimated the repair cost to exceed 19,000. The manufacturer, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., opened and then closed my case (#16240409) without explanation and has not responded to repeated requests for assistance. The vehicle remains at the dealership awaiting authorization from American Honda Motor Co., Inc whether to repair the vehicle or not.
I am submitting this complaint to report a catastrophic engine failure in my 2019 Honda Pilot Elite that is consistent with the defect described in NHTSA Safety Recall 23V-751, and to request that my vehicle be included in the recall or that the scope of the recall be expanded. My vehicle, manufactured in July 2018, experienced a sudden onset of engine knocking accompanied by a flashing check engine light and a P0301 (cylinder 1 misfire) diagnostic code while driving at highway speeds. After safely returning home and attempting reasonable repairs, I brought the vehicle to a Honda dealership for inspection. The technician determined that: •The cylinder #1 connecting rod bearing had spun •There was extensive internal engine damage •Metal shavings were present in the oil pan •The engine required replacement of the short block assembly The total cost of repair was 9,784.94. This failure mode is identical to the defect described in Recall 23V-751, which attributes rod bearing failure to manufacturing issues with the crankshaft. Despite this, my VIN is not currently included in the recall. Key concerns: •My vehicle falls within the same production timeframe as affected vehicles •The failure mode is identical to the recalled defect •The failure occurred under normal driving conditions •The vehicle was properly maintained and not abused This raises serious concerns that the defect extends beyond the currently defined recall population.I respectfully request that NHTSA: 1.Investigate this incident as part of the ongoing review of Honda 3.5L V6 engine failures 2.Determine whether Recall 23V-751 should be expanded to include additional vehicles 3.Consider my vehicle for inclusion in the recall due to identical failure characteristics This issue represents a significant safety concern, as sudden engine failure at highway speeds could lead to loss of control or increased risk of collision. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Passport, 2016-2019 Pilot, and 2017-2020 Ridgeline vehicles. The hood latch striker may become damaged and separate from the hood, which can result in the hood opening while driving.
Consequence: A hood that opens while driving can obstruct the driver's view and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will either repair the hood latch striker, or replace the hood if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 18, 2022. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is PBV.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Passport and Pilot vehicles equipped with Continental tires. On the affected vehicles, it is possible that one or more tires were cured for too long during tire production.
Consequence: Overcured tires may develop a break in the sidewall, resulting in sudden air loss or belt edge separation, which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect all four tires and replace them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 22, 2021. Owners may contact American Honda Motor Co. customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is UA2.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Acura MDX, MDX Sport Hybrid, RDX, TLX, Honda Accord, Civic Hatchback, Insight, 2019 Acura ILX, Honda Accord Hybrid, Civic Coupe, Civic Coupe Si, Civic Sedan, Civic Sedan Si, Civic Type R, Fit, HR-V, Odyssey, Passport, Pilot and Ridgeline, and 2018-2019 CR-V vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.
Consequence: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed May 18, 2021. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-314.

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Pilot and 2019 Passport vehicles. The front frame left and right side upper members may not have been welded completely to the unibody. As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 219, "Windshield Zone Intrusion."
Consequence: In the event of a crash, incomplete body welding may provide inadequate protection to occupants, increasing the risk of an injury.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle for missing welds, free of charge. If the vehicle is identified as missing welds, the dealer will offer to repurchase the vehicle or provide a similar replacement vehicle. Owner notification began November 6 2019. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Acura MDX and Honda Pilot vehicles and 2019 Acura RLX, RLX Sport Hybrid, TLX and Honda Odyssey and Ridgeline vehicles. The timing belt teeth may separate from the belt.
Consequence: Teeth separation from the timing belt may result in an engine stall, increasing the risk of crash.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any affected timing belt free of charge. Vehicles receiving a replacement timing belt will also have the engine inspected and any damaged components will be replaced for free. The recall began June 7, 2019. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2019 Honda Ridgeline and Pilot vehicles. The mounting holes for the clip that secures the right center pillar trim panel may be larger than intended. In the event of a crash necessitating right side curtain air bag deployment, the clip may not hold the center pillar trim panel in position and it may potentially interfere with the curtain air bag deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection," and 226, "Ejection Mitigation."
Consequence: In the event of a crash, if the curtain air bag does not deploy as intended, it can increase the risk of injury.
Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will install a bracket on the right center pillar that will securely hold the center pillar trim clip, free of charge. The recall began January 22, 2019. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is D3D.
Component: BACK OVER PREVENTION:DISPLAY FUNCTION
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018-2023 Odyssey, 2019-2022 Pilot, and 2019-2023 Passport vehicles. Due to a faulty Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) communication coaxial cable connector, the rearview camera image may not appear on the display. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."
Consequence: A rearview camera that does not display an image can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the MOST cable harness and install a straightening cover over the vehicle cable connector, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 24, 2023. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Acura TLX, 2016-2020 Acura MDX, 2016 and 2018-2019 Pilot, 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline, and 2018-2019 Odyssey vehicles. Due to a manufacturing error, the connecting rod bearing in the engine may wear and seize, damaging the engine.
Consequence: A damaged engine may run improperly or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a fire, crash, or injury.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair, or replace the engine as necessary, free of charge. I leased this vehicle in Oct2019 and then brought this vehicle and till date did 44710 miles and on 2/25 we had multiple warnings on the dashboard regarding lane assist failure, adaptive cruise control, break system failure, forward collision failure and many more warnings, we took it to Honda Dealer to investigate and they said that he don’t Monocular camera has to be replaced with a estimate cost of 2395, when searched online there are many customers of the 2019 model facing the same problem and are subjected to such high repair cost. I believe that this is a faulty part from Honda and needs to be recalled and fixed as this impacts critical safety functions.
Transmission shudder/stutter during acceleration, most noticeable between 25-45 mph under light to moderate throttle. Issue began at approximately 10,000 miles and has persisted to the current mileage of approximately 65,000 miles. The vehicle has been taken to the Honda dealer on multiple occasions for this issue. The dealer has performed two separate transmission fluid flushes, which temporarily reduce the symptoms but do not resolve the defect. The dealer has now recommended a triple transmission flush at a cost of approximately $1,000, which the dealer acknowledged is a suboptimal solution. The dealer stated their hands are tied because no recall has been issued for the 2019 model year. This is the same transmission shudder defect that led to recalls and Technical Service Bulletins for the 2016, 2017, and 2018 Honda Pilot models. The 9-speed ZF automatic transmission (9HP) in the 2019 Pilot is the same or substantially similar unit. The defect creates a safety concern during acceleration, particularly when merging onto highways or accelerating through intersections, as the vehicle hesitates and stutters instead of delivering smooth, predictable power delivery.
Vehicle: 2019 Honda Pilot Issue: Complete dashboard blackout / loss of safety systems Safety Defect: Yes Description of the problem: While driving, the entire dashboard and infotainment system suddenly go black without warning. This includes the speedometer, fuel gauge, warning lights, backup camera, and all Honda Sensing features (Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation, Road Departure Mitigation). When this happens, I cannot see my speed or any critical vehicle information. The system reboots on its own while still driving. This failure happens intermittently and unpredictably, including at highway speeds. It creates a serious safety hazard because I lose all driver information and safety alerts. Many other 2019 Honda Pilot owners report the same issue, and Honda has not issued a recall or permanent fix. Honda cannot figure out why this happens depsite me taking it to dealer several times. Frequency: • Has happened multiple times When it occurs: • While driving What has been done so far: Honda dealers have not provided a permanent fix. Software updates and resets do not resolve the issue. Honda has not acknowledged this as a safety defect despite widespread reports. Why this is a safety issue: Losing the speedometer, warning lights, and safety systems while driving is extremely dangerous. I cannot tell how fast I am going, whether the vehicle has warnings, or whether safety systems are active. This should be investigated as a safety defect.
My car turned the brake light on, the cruise control stopped working, it has the lane departure warning on, the sensor on the windshield apparently is not working.. I can't use the cruise control nor the lane departure assistant and I am concerned that when needed the emergency breaks won't work.. this is a serious issue Honda should remedy.
Noise underwood sounds like valve spring, dealer says high pressure fuel pump. Emissions system problem trouble code on dash. Rough start, vehicle sluggish sometimes, hesitates. Noise gets louder upon acceleration.
The front camera is kicking a code of U3000-49 so now none of my safety features work nor is honda 100% certain on how to fix his issue. I've spoken to Honda and no one can provide a clear answer. I'm not driving my car with my 2 small children because it's the only car I have and none of my safety features are working due to the damage from the front camera. I've been told by a glass service, it's likely due to heat damage as Honda's front camera are known for this. This could cause so many issue, especially since Honda isn't giving any feedback on how to correct this issue.
Front camera sensor (behind rear view mirror) has failed prematurely therefore causing multiple dash lights to come on such as ACC, LKAS, collision mitigation system, Brake system. Confirmed battery is not the issue as it is in great condition.
The Forward facing camera has failed causing the cruise control automatic, breaking land departure, and other various electrical problems due to the malfunction of the camera
We were driving from the [XXX] Area to [XXX] in June 2024. We noticed a "Transmission Too Hot" indicator on our dash while we were driving on [XXX] in [XXX] . It was not a hot day. We pulled over because we did not want to damage our car. We were towed to Ciocca Honda in [XXX] . They ran diagnostics and determined the problem was a known issue "A23-073" and our car needed a software update. The did a fine job and got us back on the road. My concern is that this was a known problem which could still be affective other motorists. Please evaluate whether a recall is needed for the fix done to our car and the software update. Thank you! I was driving around 30-35 mph when my car's dashboard lights were flickering on and it then gave me a warning that the collision mitigation system was coming on. The car started braking hard and it swerved me to the left, so much so that I was halfway into the left lane. Thankfully no other car was in that lane. Then my car automatically went into neutral and I had to stop on the side of the road. I took the car into the Honda Dealership the same day. They told me that it could possibly be a dirty multi use camera by the rear view mirror and so they claimed to have cleaned it. I'm not certain that was the issue since I had just gotten a car wash recently and it did not seem to have been dirty.
The contact owns a 2019 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was restarted; however, the advanced safety features remained inoperable. The vehicle remained in LIMP Mode and failed to properly accelerate while driving. The contact referenced TSB: 23-0780 (Torque Converter); however, the vehicle was not associated with the TSB. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,500.
When my Pilot is stopped and the engine idles off, you should be able to take your foot off the brake and it start back up. My engine continuously shuts down completely when I take my foot off of the gas and multiple alert lights on the dash come on. About 70% of the time, I can shut the car off completely, breathe a second and then press the ignition button and the car will restart. Now, increasingly it stalls completely and will not crank for several minutes. I have had this happen more than once at busy intersections and once while stopped in traffic on an interstate. I had to put my hazard lights on so cars would go around me. I have taken it to the Honda dealer a couple of times just for this and they say there is nothing showing to be fixed and there is nothing they can do to fix it. They only told me to remember to press the button to turn the feature off. Yes, I know that’s possible but I’m a busy mom and I often forget. What is the point of having the feature if it continuously stalls out? I have searched this problem on the internet and I’ve seen other Pilot owners have had the same problem. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
While operating the vehicle in reverse at a low speed (under 5 mph), the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) failed to provide any audible or visual alerts regarding a stationary vehicle positioned directly behind my path. The vehicle is equipped with a Rearview Video System and Rear Proximity/Parking Sensors, both of which were active. Despite a clear line of sight and the secondary vehicle being a standard passenger car, the sensors did not "ping" or trigger an emergency brake/alert, resulting in a rear-end collision. The sensors and camera lens were clean and free of debris at the time of the incident. This represents a failure of the safety system to perform its primary function of obstacle detection in a standard backing scenario, posing a significant risk for back-over incidents involving pedestrians or other vehicles.
