QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE IS RECALLING CERTAIN AFTERMARKET BALL JOINTS SOLD FOR USE ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE SOCKET MAY HAVE BEEN EXCESSIVELY HARDENED WHICH COULD CAUSE IT TO CRACK NEAR THE RETAINING RING GROOVE ALLOWING THE BALL STUD TO SEPARATE UNDER IMPACT LOAD. THE SUBJECT BALL JOINTS WERE SOLD AS FOUR PART NUMBERS, D10945, D10946, G10945, AND G10946. THE AFFECTED CONTROL ARMS, D10945 AND D10946, ARE STAMPED WITH THE FOLLOWING DATES ON THE BALL JOINTS: 134308, 135708, 100109, 102709, 104109, 105509, 107609, 108909, 110309, 113209, AND 116609. THE G10945 AND G10946 ARE THE SAME PART AS THE D10945 AND D10946 RESPECTIVELY. THEY ARE LABELED DIFFERENTLY DEPENDING ON THE AFTERMARKET CUSTOMER.
Consequence: SEPARATION OF THE BALL STUD FROM THE SOCKET OF THE BALL JOINT HOUSING WOULD ALLOW THE CONTROL ARM TO COLLAPSE AND THE WHEEL TO FOLD IN CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.
Remedy: QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE WILL REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON NOVEMBER 9, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT QUALIS AUTOMOTIVE AT 1-800-493-4128.

FEDERAL-MOGUL IS RECALLING CERTAIN REPLACEMENT CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLIES, PART NUMBERS K7425, 10945, FA4510X, K7427, 10946, AND FA4611X, SOLD FOR USE ON VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE BALL JOINT ON THE CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY CAN FAIL CAUSING THE BALL STUD TO WEAR THROUGH THE CONTROL ARM HOUSING RESULTING IN NOISE AND/OR SEPARATION OF THE BALL STUD FROM THE HOUSING.
Consequence: IF THERE IS A SEPARATION OF THE BALL STUD FROM THE HOUSING, THE DRIVER CAN LOOSE STEERING CONTROL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS, WILL NOT START AFTER RAIN. THERE IS NO DISTRIBUTOR AND I FEEL THAT IT COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. I PUMP THE GAS AND TRY TO TURN IT OVER IT JUST CRANKS SOMETIMES IT DOES EVENTUALLY START. I HAVE MISSED DAYS OF WORK. SO WHEN EVER IT RAINS I AM ALWAYS WORRIED, THIS HAPPENS OFTEN. *TR
THE DISTRIBUTOR HAS GONE OUT TWICE (2X) ON MY 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN 2007 WHILE I WAS SITTING IN A CAR WASH. I THOUGHT PERHAPS SOME WATER HAD SPLASHED IN AND SHORTED SOMETHING OUT. SO I DIDN'T REPORT IT. BUT THE SECOND TIME WAS ON FRIDAY, MAY 29TH. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE I-210 FREEWAY IN THE CARPOOL LANE - NEAR AZUSA, CA. SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND I HAD TO PULL ACROSS 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO SAFELY GET OFF THE FREEWAY. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS. IF I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO PULL OVER, THE CAR WOULD JUST HAVE STOPPED DEAD ON A BUSY FREEWAY ON THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON OF THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. I ASKED THE MECHANIC AT CLIPPINGER CHRYSLER IN COVINA WHERE WE HAD THE CAR TOWED IF THE DISTRIBUTOR WENT OUT OFTEN ON THEIR CARS. HE SAID IT WAS "RARE." I THINK THAT THE FACT THAT IT HAS GONE OUT TWICE ON MY CAR IN THE PAST 2 YEARS IS VERY STRANGE AND COULD CONSTITUTE A SERIOUS DEFECT. *TR

THESE FILTERS MAY DEVELOP A LEAK IN THE HOSE ASSEMBLY AND/OR CONNECTORS DUE TO IMPROPERLY ADHERED LINE CONNECTORS.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE.

ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2.4 LITER ENGINES, THE HIGH PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE MAY PREMATURELY HEAT AGE AND DEVELOP A LEAK.
Consequence: POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE MAY RESULT IN AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.

CERTAIN TIGAS FUEL PUMP MODULES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN JUNE 1 AND SEPTEMBER 24, 2006, SOLD UNDER VARIOUS BRAND NAMES AND P/NOS. THESE FUEL PUMP MODULES ARE SOLD AS AFTERMARKET FOR USE IN CERTAIN DAIMLERCHRYSLER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. SILICONE MATERIAL USED IN MANUFACTURE OF THE FLAPPER VALVE WAS OUT-OF-SPECIFICATION, LEADING TO EXCESS SWELL OF THE FLAPPER VALVE RESTRICTING THE FLOW OF FUEL TO THE FUEL PUMP MODULE.
Consequence: FUEL RESTRICTION COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER AND/OR ENGINE STALL, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy: TI AUTOMOTIVE WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMP MODULES FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 6, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TI AUTOMOTIVE TOLL-FREE AT 1-877-461-1834.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE TUBE CAN CONTACT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CLAMP AND WEAR A HOLE IN IT.
Consequence: DAIMLERCHRYSLER RECALL NO. 843. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE TUBE COULD LEAK, REDUCING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ONE-HALF OF THE DIAGONALLY SPLIT BRAKING SYSTEM, AND RESULTING IN LONGER STOPPING DISTANCES.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BRAKE TUBES FOR VISIBLE EVIDENCE OF CONTACT WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM CLAMP. IF THE TUBE SHOWS EVIDENCE OF CONTACT, IT WILL BE REPLACED. IF NO EVIDENCE OF CONTACT EXISTS, THE TUBE WILL BE FASTENED WITH A CLIP.
Component: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:FLOOR SHIFT
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FLOOR SHIFTER IGNITION-PARK INTERLOCK MAY FAIL AND ALLOW THE SHIFTER TO BE MOVED OUT OF THE PARK POSITION WITH THE KEY REMOVED. AN INOPERATIVE INTERLOCK MAY ALSO ALLOW THE KEY TO BE REMOVED WHEN THE SHIFTER HAS NOT BEEN PLACED IN THE PARK POSITION.
Consequence: EITHER CIRCUMSTANCE MAY RESULT IN THE VEHICLE ROLLING AWAY WITHOUT WARNING.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW LOAD-LIMITING PUSH ROD INTO THE FLOOR SHIFTER LEVER OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON JUNE 14, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, MY CAR BEGAN STUTTERING AND STALLING OUT WITH NO WARNING. THE OIL LIGHT REPEATED FLASHES ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES AND THEN STAYS ON, AND THE CAR WONT START OR JUST CUTS OFF. THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE OIL WAS CHANGED. THIS PAST 3 MONTHS ALONE, IT HAS BEEN AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 6 TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT I NEED A TUNE-UP, WHICH WILL COST $700, THEN THE EGR NEEDS REPLACED, AND A FEW OTHER THINGS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE MECHANIC HAD IT LAST WEEK, HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THE CIRRUS VEHICLES HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEMS THAT I AM HAVING. I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE MALL VIA THE PARKWAY WHEN THE CAR STALLED OUT. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS SLOW BECAUSE IF I WAS ON THE PARKWAY AND IT STALLED OUT, MY SISTER AND I COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED. THERE IS NO PREDETERMINED TIME WHEN THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 89500 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ALL OF MY ORIGINAL REPAIR PAPERS. PROPER MAINTENANCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN DONE ON MY CAR. WHEN IT WORKS, IT IS GREAT. UNFORTUNATELY, I JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO NOT START. *TR
I HAVE A 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. MY WIFE TOOK THE CAR FOR THE DAY 10/15/08, SHE CALLED ME AT WORK TO SAY THE BRAKES WERE MAKING A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE NEXT DAY I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKES SERVICED. ON THE WAY OVER, THE BRAKE PADS COMPLETELY STOPPED FUNCTIONING. I HAD TO DOWN SHIFT TO STOP. I DROVE AT 10 MPH OR SLOWER THE LAST MILE TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE BRAKES. THIS CAR HAD NO BRAKES. WHAT TROUBLES ME, IS THAT THE BRAKE PADS HAD NO WEAR INDICATORS ON THEM. HAD I HEARD THE SCREECHING OF THE INDICATORS, I WOULD HAVE HAD THE PADS REPLACED SOONER. I HAD NO IDEA THE PADS WAS THAT BAD. A FEW DAYS EARLIER, I WAS IN RHODE ISLAND TO VISIT MY DAUGHTERS. I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT HAD THE BRAKES FAILED THEN. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT NOT ALL BRAKE PADS HAVE THESE WEAR INDICATORS. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THE COST OF INCLUDING THESE ON ALL BRAKE PADS COULDN'T BE THAT MUCH. I CURRENTLY OWN A 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS V6. AUTO IS EQUIPPED WITH A 41TE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH 104,000 MILES ON IT. ACCORDING TO AL WEB SITES I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT THE 41TE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS PROVEN TO BE AN UNRELIABLE UNIT RESULTING IN PREMATURE FAILURE AND BEARING FAILURE. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT. AS OF THIS WRITING THE PINION BEARINGS HAVE FAILED IN MY VEHICLE AND CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR AS THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION FOR WHICH THE MANUFACTURER DENIES AN RESPONSIBILITY. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE LIKE ME OUT THERE WITH NO RECOURSE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. THE CONTACT HAD A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THE LATCH PLATE COULD NOT BE SECURED INTO THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE SEAT BELT WAS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, NHTSA, AND SPOKE WITH SOMEONE AT CHRYSLER. HE ALSO SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM TO OBTAIN THE COST FOR THE REPAIRS AND HAVE THE DEALER IDENTIFY THE FAILURE COMPONENT. ONCE AT THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,050.
