THIS IS SECOND TIME MY BATTERY HAS DIED AND L AM STILL UNABLE TO JUMP THE THING. SOMETHING IS WRONG THAT THE MECHANICS OR DEALERSHIPS AREN'T TELLING ME . *TR
1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS, WILL NOT START AFTER RAIN. THERE IS NO DISTRIBUTOR AND I FEEL THAT IT COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. I PUMP THE GAS AND TRY TO TURN IT OVER IT JUST CRANKS SOMETIMES IT DOES EVENTUALLY START. I HAVE MISSED DAYS OF WORK. SO WHEN EVER IT RAINS I AM ALWAYS WORRIED, THIS HAPPENS OFTEN. *TR
THE DISTRIBUTOR HAS GONE OUT TWICE (2X) ON MY 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. THE FIRST TIME WAS IN 2007 WHILE I WAS SITTING IN A CAR WASH. I THOUGHT PERHAPS SOME WATER HAD SPLASHED IN AND SHORTED SOMETHING OUT. SO I DIDN'T REPORT IT. BUT THE SECOND TIME WAS ON FRIDAY, MAY 29TH. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE I-210 FREEWAY IN THE CARPOOL LANE - NEAR AZUSA, CA. SUDDENLY THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND I HAD TO PULL ACROSS 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO SAFELY GET OFF THE FREEWAY. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS. IF I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO PULL OVER, THE CAR WOULD JUST HAVE STOPPED DEAD ON A BUSY FREEWAY ON THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON OF THE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. I ASKED THE MECHANIC AT CLIPPINGER CHRYSLER IN COVINA WHERE WE HAD THE CAR TOWED IF THE DISTRIBUTOR WENT OUT OFTEN ON THEIR CARS. HE SAID IT WAS "RARE." I THINK THAT THE FACT THAT IT HAS GONE OUT TWICE ON MY CAR IN THE PAST 2 YEARS IS VERY STRANGE AND COULD CONSTITUTE A SERIOUS DEFECT. *TR
ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, MY CAR BEGAN STUTTERING AND STALLING OUT WITH NO WARNING. THE OIL LIGHT REPEATED FLASHES ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES AND THEN STAYS ON, AND THE CAR WONT START OR JUST CUTS OFF. THE TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE OIL WAS CHANGED. THIS PAST 3 MONTHS ALONE, IT HAS BEEN AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 6 TIMES FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. I AM NOW BEING TOLD THAT I NEED A TUNE-UP, WHICH WILL COST $700, THEN THE EGR NEEDS REPLACED, AND A FEW OTHER THINGS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE MECHANIC HAD IT LAST WEEK, HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THE CIRRUS VEHICLES HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEMS THAT I AM HAVING. I WAS ON MY WAY TO THE MALL VIA THE PARKWAY WHEN THE CAR STALLED OUT. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS SLOW BECAUSE IF I WAS ON THE PARKWAY AND IT STALLED OUT, MY SISTER AND I COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED. THERE IS NO PREDETERMINED TIME WHEN THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 89500 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ALL OF MY ORIGINAL REPAIR PAPERS. PROPER MAINTENANCE HAS ALWAYS BEEN DONE ON MY CAR. WHEN IT WORKS, IT IS GREAT. UNFORTUNATELY, I JUST NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO NOT START. *TR
I HAVE A 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. MY WIFE TOOK THE CAR FOR THE DAY 10/15/08, SHE CALLED ME AT WORK TO SAY THE BRAKES WERE MAKING A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE. THE NEXT DAY I DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKES SERVICED. ON THE WAY OVER, THE BRAKE PADS COMPLETELY STOPPED FUNCTIONING. I HAD TO DOWN SHIFT TO STOP. I DROVE AT 10 MPH OR SLOWER THE LAST MILE TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE BRAKES. THIS CAR HAD NO BRAKES. WHAT TROUBLES ME, IS THAT THE BRAKE PADS HAD NO WEAR INDICATORS ON THEM. HAD I HEARD THE SCREECHING OF THE INDICATORS, I WOULD HAVE HAD THE PADS REPLACED SOONER. I HAD NO IDEA THE PADS WAS THAT BAD. A FEW DAYS EARLIER, I WAS IN RHODE ISLAND TO VISIT MY DAUGHTERS. I WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT HAD THE BRAKES FAILED THEN. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT NOT ALL BRAKE PADS HAVE THESE WEAR INDICATORS. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. THE COST OF INCLUDING THESE ON ALL BRAKE PADS COULDN'T BE THAT MUCH. I CURRENTLY OWN A 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS V6. AUTO IS EQUIPPED WITH A 41TE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH 104,000 MILES ON IT. ACCORDING TO AL WEB SITES I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT THE 41TE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS PROVEN TO BE AN UNRELIABLE UNIT RESULTING IN PREMATURE FAILURE AND BEARING FAILURE. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT. AS OF THIS WRITING THE PINION BEARINGS HAVE FAILED IN MY VEHICLE AND CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR AS THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION FOR WHICH THE MANUFACTURER DENIES AN RESPONSIBILITY. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE LIKE ME OUT THERE WITH NO RECOURSE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS. THE CONTACT HAD A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THE LATCH PLATE COULD NOT BE SECURED INTO THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE. TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE SEAT BELT WAS FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, NHTSA, AND SPOKE WITH SOMEONE AT CHRYSLER. HE ALSO SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM TO OBTAIN THE COST FOR THE REPAIRS AND HAVE THE DEALER IDENTIFY THE FAILURE COMPONENT. ONCE AT THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,050. (1)A 1999 CHYSLER CIRRUS WAS RUN TO NEAR EMPTY ON GAS. THE GAUGE READ BETWEEN A QUARTER TANK AND EMPTY ON THE WAY TO THE GAS STATION. UPON ARRIVING AT THE GAS STATION THE TANK WAS FILLED. AFTER FILLING WITH GAS, I PROCEEDED TO TRY AFTER START MY CAR AND IT FAILED TO FUNCTION. MY HUSBAND WHO IS A SELF-EMPLOYEED MECHANIC THOUGHT IT TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP. (2)UPON REMOVAL OF THE GAS TANK UNIT AND THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY, WE FOUND THERE TO BE A POSSIBLE HAZARD WITH THE WIRING HARNESS LOCATED INSIDE OF THE GAS TANK UNIT ITSELF. THE WIRES ACTUALLY BEGAN TO MELTS TOGETHER INSTEAD OF DISTURBING THE FUEL PUMP FUSE LOCATED NUETRALLY ON THE FUSE PANEL IN ANOTHER AREA OF THE CAR. WE FEEL THAT IF THE MELTING OF THE WIRES HAD BEEN MORE INTENSE THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN AN EXPLOSION DUE TO THE MIXTURE OF HEAT AND COMBUSTABLE GASES/FUMES. (3)THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW UNIT AND INSTALLED.
OIL LIGHT IN WELL-MAINTAINED 1999 3.5L CHRYSLER 300M CAME ON AT 68,565 MILES IN FRONT OF DEALER, WHERE CAR WAS LEFT. ENGINE MAKING NO UNUSUAL NOISES WHEN SHUT OFF. INFORMED THAT WHEN RESTARTED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, ENGINE WAS MAKING NOISES INDICATING SUBSTANTIAL TOP AND BOTTOM END DAMAGE, NECESSITATING REPLACEMENT FOR $5,180.22. WAS GIVEN CHRYSLER'S CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER BY DEALER, BUT CHRYSLER STATES THERE IS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO ABOUT IT SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS CLEARLY PREMATURE ENGINE FAILURE FOR WHICH THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BEAR SOME RESPONSIBILITY. VEHICLE HAD ALSO HAD PREMATURE STEERING RACK WEAR SEVERAL YEARS PRIOR THAT WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. *JB
I HAVE A 300M, AND I HAVE TWO CRACKS ON MY PASSENGER AIRBAG. *AK
I CRASHED INTO SAND BARRELS AFTER I WAS CUT OFF THE ROAD AND USING MY BEST JUDGEMENT, TRIED TO UTILIZE THE EXIT. THE CENTER TO LEFT OF MY 1999 CHRYSLER 300M WAS CRUSHED AND THE CAR WAS TOTALLED AT OVER 80 PERCENT DAMAGE. I RECEIVED ONLY WHIPLASH AND A BRUISE FROM THE SEATBELT. SO WHERE WERE THE AIRBAGS? CHRYSLER CLAIMED, DURING A PHONE CALL, THAT AIRBAGS ARE SMARTER AND THE COMPUTER SENSES THE EXTENT OF NECESSITY FOR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. WHEN THE COLLISION SHOP DECLARED THE AUTO A TOTAL LOSS AT FIRST SIGHT, ALONG WITH THE ALLSTATE APPRAISOR, I HAD TO QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF THE CHYRSLER STATEMENT. CHRYSLER SAYS THAT THE COMPUTER CAN ESTIMATE THE TIME THAT THE CAR GOES FROM (I.E) 60 TO ZERO AND MAKES THE DECISION TO DEPLOY. OTHER CARS IN THE COLLSION LOT HAD SIMILAR DAMAGE AND THEIR AIRBAGS WERE HANGING OUT OF THEIR DASHBOARDS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ANY SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO JERK FORWARD. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.
I WAS TURNING INTO MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I LOST STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GAS STATION FOR REPAIR. BOTH BOLTS ATTACHING THE INNER TIE RODS TO THE RACK AND PINION STEERING MECHANISM HAD SHEARED. THE BOLTS WERE REPLACED. I HAVE THE OLD BOLTS.*AK
NHTSA RECALL 04V021000 ON THE FLOOR SHIFT IGNITION PARK INTERLOCK. AFTER HAVING A NEW LOAD-LIMITING PUSH ROD INTO THE FLOOR SHIFTER LEVER INSTALLED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. CONSUMER WAS ALSO HAVING PROBLEM SHIFTING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
EVERY EIGHT TO TEN THOUSAND MILES THE ROTORS WARPED. WHILE STOPPING AT 70 MPH STEERING WHEEL FELT AS IF IT WAS GOING TO COME RIGHT OUT OF CONSUMER'S HANDS. CONSUMER STATED THAT CHRYSLER MANUFACTURED THE VEHICLE WITH THE WRONG PART. THE BRAKES WERE WORKED ON THREE TIMES. BUT, PROBLEM RECURRED.*AK

WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED THREE TIMES. THE CONSUMER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK *SC *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO FOUND THAT FUEL VAPORS WERE LEAKING FROM THE GAS TANK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL TANK SEALS, BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE OF SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE FUEL TANK. *AK THE SEAL WAS REPLACED AGAIN HOWEVER THERE WAS A SMALL INDENTATION WHERE TANK SEAL FIT. *SC *JB

I PURCHASED A 1999 CHRYSLER CIRRUS FROM LINNES NISSAN WEST IN STANHOPE NJ 8 MONTHS AGO. SINCE THEN, I'VE BEEN HAVING DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. I TOOK IT BACK AROUND 5 TIMES TO NISSAN. THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND. AT ONE TIME DURING THE WINTER MY OIL LIGHT,BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON,THE CAR WOULD CUT OFF.. I CALLED NISSAN AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM. THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE IT TO NISSAN IN BLOOMFIELD. MY CAR WAS THERE ONE WEEK. THEY CALLED AND SAID THEY HAVEN'T FOUND ANY PROBLEM. SO I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR. I WAS ABOUT 10 MINUTES AWAY AND IT CUT OFF AGAIN. I WAS STUCK ON THE STREET IN WINTER STORM TRYING TO GET THIS CAR STARTED. I CALLED NISSAN IN STANHOPE TO TELL THEM BLOOMFIELD DIDN'T FIX MY CAR BECAUSE IT CUT OUT ON ME AGAIN. THE NEXT MORNING NISSAN IN STANHOPE CAME TO MY HOUSE AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THEM. MY CAR WAS THERE FOR THREE OR FOUR DAYS. A FEW MONTH'S PASS. AROUND APRIL OR MAY, I PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY FROM SEARS. ONE MONTH LATER MY BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. SO I BROUGHT THE CAR TO NISSAN IN STANHOPE. THEY LOOK AT IT AND SAID IT WAS MY BATTERY BUT I HAD JUST PURCHASE THAT BATTERY A FEW WEEKS WITH THAT TIME FRAME. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO SEARS THEY INSTALLED ANOTHER BATTERY AND SAID IF THIS MATTER HAPPENS AGAIN TAKE IT BACK TO NISSAN AS IT MIGHT BE MY ALTERNATOR . A FEW WEEK AGO, THIS OCCURED AGAIN SO I CALLED NISSAN AND THEY AREN'T TRYING TO HELP ME OUT AT ALL. I'M SO FED UP WITH THIS CAR & NISSAN.
THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN PARK. THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THE DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BUT THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *PH *SCC *JB

DEALER STATES THAT IT IS CONSIDERED NORMAL BY CHRYSLER THAT THE ENGINE HAS SEVERE CARBON BUILD UP AND THAT IT MAY SOME DAY CAUSE MY HEADS TO CRACK. I DONT FEEL THAT IS RIGHT AND I SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF IT DOES HAPPEN. GENERAL MOTORS OFFERS THEIR CUSTOMERS COMPONENT COVERAGE LETTERS WHEN THEY HAVE A CONCERN LIKE THIS WITH THE ENGINE TO SHOW THIER CUSTOMERS THAT THEY STAMP BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. I THINK THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
