DORMAN IS RECALLING 979 STEERING KNUCKLES, DORMAN P/NOS. 697-902 AND 697-903, SOLD UNDER DORMAN'S "OE SOLUTIONS<SUP>TM</SUP>" BRAND NAME, AND NAPA P/NOS. 7-8502 AND 7-8503 WHICH WERE SOLD FOR REPLACEMENT USE ON THE VARIOUS VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. A POTENTIAL MATERIAL OR DESIGN DEFECT COULD RESULT IN THE STEERING KNUCKLE BREAKING IN THE HUB AREA.
Consequence: A BROKEN STEERING KNUCKLE COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A POSSIBLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

K2 MOTOR IS RECALLING 1,921 AFTERMARKET HEADLAMPS OF VARIOUS MODELS SOLD FOR USE ON THE ABOVE LISTED VEHICLES. THESE HEADLAMPS ARE MISSING THE AMBER SIDE REFLEX REFLECTOR WHICH FAILS TO CONFORM WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT."
Consequence: WITHOUT THE AMBER SIDE REFLEX REFLECTORS, THE LIGHTING VISIBILITY MAY BE AFFECTED, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: 1997-2001 CHEVROLET VENTURE, PONTIAC MONTANA/TRANSPORT, AND OLDSMOBILE SILHOUETTE MINI VANS EQUIPPED WITH PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOORS THAT WERE SERVICED IN CAMPAIGN 01013 (01V-067) FROM APRIL TO AUGUST 2001. ALSO 2001 CHEVROLET VENTURE, PONTIAC MONTANA, AND OLDSMOBILE SILHOUETTE MINI VANS EQUIPPED WITH PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOORS ASSEMBLED IN JANUARY THROUGH APRIL 2001. THESE VEHICLES HAVE INADEQUATE FRONT WELDS. IF A FRONT WELD FAILS, THE ACTUATOR CAN JAM IN THE UNLATCHED POSITION AND, WHEN THE SLIDING DOOR CLOSES, IT WILL NOT BE LATCHED.
In January 2022, I noticed white smoke coming from the engine and a mechanic said it was the water pump that needed to be replaced, so I have it replaced. Recently, I noticed the same white smoke coming from the engine and took it back to the same mechanic who installed the water pump. The mechanic said it was the intake manifold that caused the white smoke. I decided to take it to another mechanic to see if the first diagnosis was correct and that mechanic confirmed the first mechanic's diagnosis and my previous experience with another GM vehicle (1997 Vhevy Lumina) that had the exact same problem: water pump went out and intake manifold also started to fail until the Lumina's engine was fried.
Car is losing coolant quickly, even though I have replaced the water pump about a month ago. Due to GM Manufactuing, they only allow Dex Cool coolant for their vehicles but not everyone carries Dex Cool. Also, the oxygen sensor code need to be read oxygen sensor only and not with 4 or 5 other codes.
AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF, THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX IT AS THEY DON'T MAKE THE PARTS ANYMORE, NOT SURE IF AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY IF EVER NEEDED.
WAS DRIVING FORWARD COMING UP TO AN INTERSECTION AND APPROACHING A RED LIGHT WHEN THE BRAKES WENT OUT .WHEN TRYING TO STOP AND PUSH THE BRAKE DOWN IT STARTED SHAKING AND THE BRAKE CAME UP AND THEN WHEN PUSHED IT BACK DOWN IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY OUT. THEM GOING OUT CAUSED US TO ROLL THROUGH THE INTERSECTION CAUSING US TO GET HIT BY A VEHICLE COMING THROUGH THE LIGHT, SPINNING US AROUND AND GOT HIT MORE THAN ONCE. HIT US ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE AND WINDOWS WERE SHATTERED OUT BUT NOT ONE AIR BAG WENT OFF/DEPLOYED AT ALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED.THERE WERE 3 BABIES IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

ON CERTAIN MINIVANS EQUIPPED WITH SECOND-ROW BUCKET SEATS OR CAPTAIN'S CHAIRS AND A POWER SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, A PASSENGER USING THE INTERIOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE POWER SLIDING DOOR COULD BE INJURED.
Consequence: IF A PASSENGER USES THE INTERIOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE POWER SLIDING DOOR AND HOLDS ONTO THE HANDLE WHILE IT IS BEING OPENED BY THE MOTOR, THE PASSENGER'S ARM MAY BE PUSHED INTO THE SEAT BACK OR ARMREST AND A WRIST OR LOWER ARM INJURY MAY RESULT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE POWER SLIDING DOOR INTERIOR HANDLE ON THE PASSENGER-SIDE. IF THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A POWER OR MANUAL SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER-SIDE, THE INTERIOR HANDLE WILL ALSO BE REPLACED FOR APPEARANCE REASONS. NOTE: BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED, GM ADVISES OWNERS TO NOT USE THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE DRIVER CAN OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR FROM SWITCHES AT THE DRIVER'S POSITION OR BY USING THE REMOTE KEY FOB. THE DRIVER SHOULD TELL PASSENGERS TO USE THE SWITCH LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE DOOR TO OPEN OR CLOSE IT. THE DRIVER SHOULD USE THE OVERRIDE SWITCH TO PREVENT OPERATION OF THE POWER DOOR BY CHILDREN OR BY OTHERS WHO ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH ITS USE. CERTAIN DELPHI FUEL PRESSURE REGULATORS, P/NOS. FP10020-11B1, FP10026-11B1, AND FP10027-11B1, SOLD AFTER JANUARY 9, 2007, AS AFTERMARKET EQUIPMENT FOR VARIOUS PASSENGER VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. THE UNIVERSAL PRESSURE REGULATORS (UPR) WERE PRODUCED WITHOUT AN O'RING AND RETAINER.
Consequence: FUEL MAY LEAK, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A FIRE.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MINI VANS WITH EXTENDED WHEELBASE. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE INOPERATIVE FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVES AND FUEL LEAKAGE WOULD EXCEED THE PERMISSIBLE AMOUNT IN A ROLLOVER TEST. THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY."
Consequence: IN A VEHICLE ROLLOVER ACCIDENT, IF AN IGNITION SOURCE IS PRESENT, A FIRE COULD RESULT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE VEHICLES TO LOCATE AND REPLACE THOSE FUEL TANKS THAT COULD HAVE INOPERATIVE ROLLOVER VALVES.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES, LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS, SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, AND MINI VANS EQUIPPED WITH TRW SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES. THE BUCKLE BASE OF THESE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES WERE NOT PROPERLY HEAT TREATED AND THEREFORE DO NOT PASS THE LOAD BEARING REQUIREMENT OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 209, "SEAT BELT ASSEMBLIES."
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY RESTRAINED.

BOUGHT 4 NEW GOODYEAR VIVA 2 TIRES AT WALMART IN APPROXIMATELY 2014 SOMETIME. ACCORDING TO LOCAL TIRE SHOP THEY HAVE 2014 DATE CODES. VAN STARTED DEVELOPING A LOW SPEED WOBBLE WHEN DRIVING. FRONT L TIRE WAS LOW ON PRESSURE SO TOOK TO A LOCA SHOP TO HAVE IT CHECKED THINKING I JUST NEEDED A PATCH. WRONG! THE SHOP DISCOVERED A TREAD SEPARATION ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL! LUCKILY I WAS NOT DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER COMING HERE AND READING ALL THE OTHER ALMOST IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS TO ME IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A TREND OF BULGING/POOR RIDE QUALITY/BLOWOUTS AND TREAD SEPARATION FROM THESE WALMART GOODYEARS. LUCKILY I ONLY MADE A 2 MILE ROUND TRIP FROM HOME TO A FRIENDS AND I WAS ABLE TO CATCH THIS BEFORE I HAD A BLOWOUT.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
PLEASE INVESTIGATE INCIDENTS OF FAILURE OF THE GM PASSKEY/PASSLOCK/VATS SECURITY SYSTEM. SECURITY LIGHT WOULD FLASH AND VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. PROBLEM OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS, AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. NO ACCIDENTS INVOLVED, BUT SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. PROBLEM OCCURRED VERY FREQUENTLY IN THE PAST WEEK, AND NOW VEHICLE WILL NOT START DUE TO SECURITY FEATURE. I AM USING FACTORY ORIGINAL KEYS, NOT REPLACEMENTS. I WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC AT A DEAD STOP,THEN WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. AS SOON AS I DID THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK,WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND CAUSED ME TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. ALSO MY GAS GAUGE DIDN'T WORK AND WOULD RANDOMLY MOVE BACK AND FORTH,EVEN IF I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS. THEN,THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUED TO GO OUT DUE TO THE MELTING OF THE PART OF THE BULB,NOT THE BULB ITSELF. MY ELECTRIC SLIDING DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE CAME OFF THE TRACK DUE TO THE CORD AND PULLEY/MOTOR IN THE DOOR. I COULD NEVER GET THE DOOR TO WORK OTHER THAN BY MANUALLY OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR AFTER THAT. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO SUSTAINED BRUISING FROM THE SEAT BELT RESTRAINING UPON IMPACT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 174,699.
FUEL LINES CORRODED, DANGEROUS. GASOLINE LEAKS. SENT TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. NOTIFIED THAT THE PARTS ARE DISCONTINUED. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR OTHER FUEL ISSUES. CHEVY DEALER NOT ABLE TO REPAIR VEHICLE THAT THEY BUILT IN 2000. IF YOU HAVE A 2000 CHEVY VENTURE YOU SHOULD HAVE THE CAR FUEL LINES NEAR THE ENGINE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED AND YOU SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET & GM TO INSIST THAT THE BUILD THE REPLACEMENT PARTS TO REPAIR THE CAR SO THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT INJURED. *TR
