The back glass on my convertible is separating from the fabric. This isn't something I did or anyone else has done. This is a huge problem with thousands of camaro owners that have a convertible. Something needs to be done because its obvious that the design that was used on mine and many many others alike is a flawed and something that we should not have to deal with. Right now my only options are to buy a new top and spend over $3,000 to have it installed or buy some glue and rig it up myself but I refuse to do that. Please, this is my first Camaro and I love it and just want it fixed. I don't see any Mustangs or other convertibles having this issue. Attached with my photos is a screenshot from a Facebook post with over 300 comments of people having the same issue and also a service bulletin that was put out a while back. There needs to be a recall on this issue or lawsuits are going to start being filed. Thats what most people are threatening to do now.

The power steering locks up and message appears saying power steering enabled please drive carefully. When this happens the steering wheel becomes very hard to turn, sometimes making it impossible to turn right or left if it is a sharp turn. I then have to shut car off and start it again and move steering wheel in order for it to steer properly again. Sometimes I have to repeat this process over and over again while driving from point A to B. Then at other times I have no issue. As of today(4/27/2026) this has been happening on a daily basis for the past 2 weeks. Before then, it was occasionally beginning in November 2025. A friend told me there was a recall but there are none listed for this car on the dealership site. When I googled recalls, it stated there were 3 critical recalls 1 being this power steering issue.

The contact used excessive force while depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact associated the brake failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V576000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Chevrolet has a well documented issue with the automatic transmission on my car. This is the same model transmission in other cars as well. First issue: the stock transmission fluid was incorrect. This required repairs. The underlying issue is the torque converters and solenoid. Most recently, one solenoid got stuck and forced my car into Limp mode while driving. This caused the vehicle to force 4th gear and incapacitated my ability to control my speed correctly. I was forced to pull off to the side until the computer reset itself again. A less experienced driver could potentially get into a car accident without the ability to properly regulate speed

I would like to report a safety concern with my car having a strong shuddering or vibration, including the steering wheel which I’m unable to move. When this happens RPM remain below 3000 rpm as if the the gears were having trouble changing, the shaking remains while driving in the city at around 25-35 mph and highway speeds at around 65-76 mph. My car was under warranty when this started happening, the dealership flushed and replaced the transmission fluid and it took care of the problem for about 2000 miles (GM has several bulletins in regards to the “shake” on different model vehicles since 2014). When the shuddering returned, I returned to the freedom Chevrolet where I bought the vehicle (actual mileage 53768) and explained the shuddering returning. I was advised to leave the car which now has been at the dealership for months and they refuse to fix the problem stating it is out of warranty. I provided all the bulletins I found on related issue which GM has stated they fix the problem by swapping the transmission on new cars but nothing has been done on the cars that have the existing problem because “there is no recall” as the service advisor stated. This problem could’ve been resolved when I took the car the first time but I wasn’t aware of the severity of the problem or that I would have so much trouble with the dealership now. All I asked is to honor the warranty as the issue was brought up when the vehicle was still under warranty and has less than 60,000 miles.

Got trapped inside the car in 100 degree weather plus humidity. The car started the whole and operated perfectly fine while a message prompted on the dash. After doing a push to start that morning before work. The car runs for 10mins until it shuts off. That morning closed myself in to get ready to head to work. Remote not detected prompted. It said it three times that day. The last time it said it I was heading home after getting food. After a push to start that’s when it trapped me inside. Called 911 in Rocky Mount Nc. All they were worried about is a OnStar button. If I had to wait on them probably would’ve been dead. Cause they have to ask a multitude of questions. Rescuers never came. While OnStar was on speaker I thought to check to see if I had the app available to unlock the doors. Usually I don’t pay the bill for it thought the remote way was better. Due to the fact that the app takes a while to upload and could update at anytime as well as signal issues in certain places. Luckily it was setup on autopay. Although it did take a little while to load I was kind of at ease knowing OnStar was still on the speaker. Spoke with a Gm specialist about doing a recall. Instead expressed that, that’s if my vehicle is even eligible for an upgrade. Had suggested the installation of physical unlock levers instead they ignored the suggestion. This is a deadly safety hazard not only for myself but for others as well. Especially if they are not alert about it. When I found that the key fob wasn’t rechargeable inside the vehicle after being trapped inside it. I bought a battery from the Chevy company that was brand new but still a dead battery. Which caused me not to be able to start the vehicle at all. The only thing that help was recharging the battery on the Apple Watch charger by removing the battery from the key fob. Not everyone knows that and still isn’t a good and or safe reliable method to use cause of uncertainty of battery life. Let the car go back for this reason.

While driving, the vehicle suddenly lost all electric power steering assist, making the steering extremely heavy and difficult to control. This occurred without warning and significantly increased the risk of a crash, especially at low speeds and during turns. The issue occurs intermittently and temporarily resolves after restarting the engine, which suggests an intermittent failure. The defect matches the description in GM’s active recall (GM Recall N252497020 / NHTSA Campaign 25V175000) for similar 2017 Chevrolet Camaro models, involving a faulty printed circuit board in the steering gear assembly. This failure has happened multiple times and creates an immediate safety hazard. I have not yet had the issue confirmed by a dealer because GM and the dealership are requiring me to pay a diagnostic fee, even though this is a known safety defect on similar vehicles. The steering system has not been inspected by the manufacturer at this time. A warning message stating “Service Power Steering” sometimes appears after the failure, but not every time. No other warning signs were present before the loss of assist. This problem has occurred during normal driving conditions on public roads.

Steering assist failure and is not included in the 2018 recall of other General Motors vehicles. The failure is as described in the cars under the recall. GM has no desire to cover this component failure. This is a serious safety issue as it still can be steered but with great effort and could result in a serious wreck. The car has 12,000 miles and garage kept. There are no check engine lights. The battery is good with a full charge. The engine temp is good. The car is currently at the GM dealership and I am being told that it will be my responsibility to pay for it.

The blender door that controls the air flow will close all the way and causes fog build up on the front windshield constantly whether it's cold or hot outside. It also randomly changes from hot to cold during driving. This is a concern due to drivability with the windshield fogging up or the comfortability of driving in extreme conditions ie... Hot, cold, or rainy conditions keeping the temperature in the car to see. Thank you for your time.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The service technician at the dealership linked the known issue to the torque converter and potentially the transmission system. The suspected faulty components are available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving my 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, the vehicle intermittently and abruptly slows down and shakes/shudders violently, as if riding over rocks. This unexpected and dangerous behavior could easily result in a loss of control, especially at higher speeds or in traffic, putting both myself and other drivers at risk. This issue compromises the safe operation of the vehicle. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The service technician told me this is a known problem with Chevrolets and stated that they currently have four other vehicles in their service department with the same issue. Given the frequency of this issue (as noted by the dealer) and the sudden onset without warning, I am concerned that this is a broader safety-related defect that warrants investigation. The technician stated multiple times that the issue is likely the torque converter, or in the worst case, a failing transmission. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? No, the vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer directly, or by police or insurance representatives at this time. I’ve never received any notice from the manufacturer regarding the shudder and recommended fluid flushes. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights or messages have appeared. The sudden shuddering and slowing down of the vehicle while driving occurs without any prior warning.

My steering wheel continued to shake and vibrate and it was also loud like the electronic part didn't shut off with the car. It continued to do this for about 10 minutes with the car off. I started it again and it seemed to be normal. I called the dealer they confirmed the electronic steering assist was an issue and it was recalled for this and the repairs were no good. They said it mlnever do it again but it also might but there was no fix! Well my car's electronic steering assist has done this several times almost causing me to hit another car, ditch, mailbox and pedestrians. There are two primary concerns with this vehicle that, after further investigation, appear to be commonly experienced issues. While driving, the vehicle shudders unexpectedly and intensely, then the issue spontaneously resolves. Upon contacting the dealership, I was informed that this is a recognized problem. The service representative explained that moisture was accumulating in the transmission fluid due to a factory defect, resulting in the sporadic vibration. I was advised that a transmission flush using Mobile One would rectify the problem, but this measure proved ineffective. The dealership is now suggesting that the torque converter may be the cause. Separately, the rear window has detached from the convertible top. Despite my efforts to seal the gap, water still seeps into the vehicle during rainfall.

I immediately shut the vehicle off within seconds of seeing this warning and towed the vehicle home. I've read that these vehicles-Camaro ZL1 are notorious for failed oil pumps. I have babied this vehicle and do not use it as a daily driver. I only take it out a few times a year and have only 18,000 miles on it. The vehicle is in stock condition and has not been modified which blows my mind that this would even occur on such a well taken care of vehicle that is so expensive and supposed to be the top the line. Of course the dealer was unhelpful due to it being pass what they consider warranty timeframe. I am hopeful that GM will assist in any way possible being that I believe GM installed faulty oil pumps on these expensive vehicles. Also I am a loyal customer to GM. Transmission in the 2016 and up 6 speed manual will pop out of second gear and making horrible grinding noises upon engaging and releasing clutch. I know several people who have had this issue and they told me GM is aware of the issue but ignoring it but it is a safety issue because it leaves a person in neutral in traffic when shifting to second it will go in and pop out. It is defective transmission housing in these expensive cars and mines has been doing it since I have had it and it is definitely the defective transmission housing and there is even a YouTube video on it. This needs to be addressed before Gm gets sued for this. Pandemic has made it even harder to get dealership to get stuff done because personally my car sat at Butler Chevrolet in Macon two months and they still never touched it and told us to come get my vehicle because they had no one to work on it and they had us in a loaner car with improper tags and registration issues and we reported that to local authorities and we are planning to sue them also if they don't settle for the discrimination and hard time they gave us letting my car sit months for no reason just to tell me they had no qualified technician to work on it and they had got my car full of ants and insects. We need this recalled so that anyone with these dangerous transmissions will get it repaired. Don't do your customers like this we are well aware of what's happening here. We pay good money for these cars. Recall these things before it leads to bigger class action issues and I'm a car truck guy and very mechanically inclined and have many friends who have these cars in manual and some of them have had transmission replacement due to defective housing and that solved the issue.

I began slowing down for a traffic light and experienced what felt like a car hitting me from behind. The problem is, "no one was behind me". A few days later I began noticing a distinctive shutter between 40 -70 Mph. under my seat, " It felt like I was going over rumble strips . I began researching this issue and learned that GM issued a Service Bulletin ( 18-NA-355 ), and the problem is a "known Issue". My question for my Senator is this "why wasn't a recall sent out"? Apparently a major car makers can get away with designing, building, and marketing a product with know problems which could lead to more serious issue. Since the issue deals with the power train, transmission safety, and the safety of the drivers , "How was GM permitted to simply issue a service bulletin? I followed the instructions and the dealership did not want to complete the work, "I had to write to GM and ask them to mandate the service on my vehicle. After the service my vehicle ran ok for a while, "but now I have strange shifting, slipping, clinking, and a violent jerk at times. How can the NTSB allow a vehicle with issues on the road? Again, this is a question for my Congressman and Senator.

In the middle of driving, power steering shut off and a notification saying "Service Power Steering" popped up on the dashboard. There were no signs/issues/warnings prior to this happening. Restarting the car didn't fix the issue so the car was taken to the dealer to diagnose the issue, which turned out to be a faulty power steering gear. This exact piece was replaced in Aug 2019 under a recall (NHTSA campaign id: 19V086. GM recall id: N182182760). I believe the recall does not address the issue or I was given a faulty piece. The dealer replaced the part but at my expense. GM could not give me a reason for why I should be held responsible for a faulty piece even though they stated that the part that needed to be replace is a sealed part and the fault was an internal fault/short. I had no control over damaging the part and the dangers of sudden loss of power steering put me, my passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians at risk. Power was lost in the middle of a rain storm and I needed to drive over an hour with no power steering just to get back home. The difficulty to turn with no power steering was so difficult that I couldn't even parallel park/pull over in a safe manner. I understand parts fail but GM should be held accountable for the faulty parts or properly address the recall from years ago because the "solution" clearly didn't fix the problem.

THE MOST RECENT ISSUE I HAVE WITH MY 2017 CAMERO IS THAT THE STABILITY TRACK LIGHT CAME ON, THIS CAUSED MY CAR TO CUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY REPAIRED THE STABILITY TRACK ISSUE BUT I NEED A NEW ENGINE OR TO HAVE THE ENGINE REBUILT. THE DEALERSHIP STATED A CODE#2 CYLINDER MISFIRE INTERNAL CODE DISPLAYED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT A NEW ENGINE WOULD COST ME AROUND $8900.00 PLUS LABOR. THEY STATED TO REBUILD IT IT WOULD BE OVER $10,000.00. THEY STATED MY WARRANTY WAS UP AT 60,000 MILES AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY OR GM CAN DO TO TO ASSIST ME. THIS IS THE FIRST CAR THAT I HAVE EVER PURCHASED AND IT 'S UNTHINKABLE THAT A ENGINE GOES OUT ON A CAR WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT. I ALSO KEPT UP WITH MY REGULAR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE . I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK AND THEN AT 11,000 MILES IT OCCURRED AGAIN: HTTPS://YOUTU.BE/RRNMXBNKXWM -- THIS TIME I TAKE IT BACK AND SHOW THEM THE VIDEO AS WELL AND THE DEALER TELLS ME BECAUSE THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE, THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR OR STEERING RACK (WHICH HAVE BEEN FOUND TO BE THE CULPRITS OF THESE ISSUES.) FOR THE REASON THAT GM WILL NOT REIMBURSE THEM IF THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND THEY NEED TO WAIT TILL IT FULLY BREAKS... ...THEY ALSO LITERALLY TOLD ME THAT IT SWITCHES TO MANUAL STEERING AND THAT IT SHOULD STILL BE OKAY.. AND THIS IS A $50,000 CAR.. THIS IS NOT OKAY, IF I LOSE POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF A CRITICAL TURN UNEXPECTEDLY, IT COULD VERY WELL PUT ME INTO A DITCH.

BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW JANUARY 2017...2017 CONVERTIBLE CAMARO SS. 6 WEEKS LATER THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN SQUEAKING ALL DAY EVERY DAY. THEY SQUEAK ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD AND AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO 3 DEALERSHIPS TO BE LOOKED AT AND FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH GM THEY REFUSE TO HELP ME WITH ANYTHING. I HAVE FOUND THOUSANDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND IS JUST REFUSING TO FIX THE ISSUE OR REFUND THE MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLES. THEY ARE SAYING THE SQUEAKING OF THE BRAKES IS NORMAL. I ASKED FOR THEM TO REPLACE THEM AND FIX THE ISSUE AND THEY WON'T. NOW WHEN THE VEHICLE GETS OVER 50 MPH THE WHOLE FRONT END ALSO VIBRATES AND WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND PRESS THE GAS TO ACCELERATE IT LUNGES FORWARD. NOTHING IS BEING FIXED.

NONE OF MY 2017 CAMARO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AFTER AN 18 WHEELER HIT ME WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. I WAS GOING APPROX. 55 MPH IN THE FAR SLOW RIGHT LANE. TRUCKER HIT ME ON DRIVERS SIDE AND MY CAR WAS HOOKED TO THE TRUCK. HE THEN DRUG ME APPROX. 50' AT SPEEDS OF 45-55 MPH. WHEN I DID FINALLY GET LOOSE FROM TRUCK IT THE SLUNG ME IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK WHERE HE THEN HIT ME AGAIN FROM BEHIND. AT LEAST ONE OF THE 4 AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. ESPECIALLY THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. THIS ANGERS ME B/C IT IS ONE MAIN REASON I PURCHASED THIS CAR. AND IN ADDITION, APPARENTLY NON OF THE CRASH RESPONSE SENSORS WORKED EITHER. ONSTAR WAS SUPPOSED TO CONTACT ME SHOULD AN ACCIDENT OCCUR. I TRIED CALLING THEM WHILE I SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. SAT ON HOLD FOR AN AGENT 10 MINS BEFORE I FINALLY HUNG UP.

2017 CAMARO ZL1 MANUAL THIS IS SPECIFIC FOR THIS CAR MODEL. THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THROTTLE RESPONSE WHEN MOVING OUT OF A STOP. ENGINE STALLS AND RPM COMES BACK AFTERWARD VERY HIGH. THIS IS DANGEROUS ON CROSS ROAD STOPS AND STOP LIGHTS. HAD FEW EVENTS THE CAR WOULD ALMOST STALL AND BE IN A DANGEROUS PLACE IN THE ROAD WITH UPCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE A COLLISION. IT REQUIRES NEW IGNITION TIMING PROGRAMMING OF THE ECU. CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE FOR A LONG TIME AND HAS NOT ISSUED ANY FIXES YET.
POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINENovember 9, 2017
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP, AT NORMAL SPEED, THE ENGINE BOGS AND ALMOST STALLS. THIS REQUIRES A RE APPLICATION OF THE CLUTCH AND MORE THROTTLE TO PREVENT STALLING. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A DRIVEWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH A CLUTCH FOR OVER 30 YEARS ON BOTH CARS AND MOTORCYCLES. THERE IS A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE TORQUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON THIS CAR. THIS PROBLEM AFFECTS MANY OF THIS MODEL OF CAMARO THERE IS AN ONLINE FORUM THAT HAS AN IN DEPTH DISCUSSION OF THE PROBLEM: HTTP://WWW.CAMARO6.COM/FORUMS/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=498180&PAGE=10
POWER TRAIN,ENGINENovember 2, 2017
THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION BOGS IN FIRST GEAR UNDER AGGRESSIVE ACCELERATION FROM A STANDING START. THIS MOST OFTEN OCCURS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE ALMOST STALL ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS IWHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I BELIEVE THE CAUSE IS EXCESSIVE TORQUE MANAGEMENT IN THE VEHICLE'S ECU PROGRAM.

PULLEY BEARING OR PULLEY TENSIONER IS SQUEAKING. THE SERVICE ADVISORS AT MY DEALER REFUSED TO BELIEVE ANY SORT OF NOISE, EXCEPT ANOTHER SERVICE REP SAID HE HEARS IT. THEY REFUSED TO FIX ANY ISSUE BECAUSE THEY'RE LAZY AND DONT WANT TO PAY FOR THE PART.
STEERINGOctober 12, 2017
I DROVE THE CAR 4 MILES THEN TURNED IT OFF AND PARKED. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE AGAIN THE POWER STEERING FAILED. A WARNING ON THE DASH INDICATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING AND TO DRIVE CAREFULLY. I DROVE THE CAR BACK HOME 4 MILES AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE. THE CONDITION CLEARED AFTER I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED.

THEY HAVE A FLAW WHERE THERE IS ALWAYS VENT FROM WHEN THE AC IS ON TO THE DEFROST VENT ON THE WINDSHIELD, HERE IN TEXAS WHERE THERE IS 100 HUMIDITY MOST OF THE YEAR. I HAVE POOR VISIBILITY BECAUSE OF ALL THE CONDENSATION FROM COLD AIR HITTING THE WINDSHIELD ALL THE TIME. I AM HAVING TO RUN MY WIPERS ANYTIME I DRIVE MY VEHICLE, EVEN WITH NO RAIN. IT CAUSES FOR A MAJOR DISTRACTION AND I HAVE ALMOST WRECK SEVERAL TIMES

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THROUGH CORNERS, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL INTERMITTENTLY STEER IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION THAT I'M TURNING. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT CAN LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, BUT THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED MAY 12, 2017.
