There is a known defect with all MV Agusta Motorcycles whereby the rear brake fails to operate in a normal fashion due to air getting into the brake system. The result is a "squishy" rear brake that does not activate the rear brake. End result is non-functioning rear brake. This puts the rider in a dangerous situation where they may not be able to brake in time to prevent an accident or full stop when needed. The problem is well known and documented by MV Agusta. My vehicle has been into the authorized dealer to rectify the problem 3 times, currently in the service center for the 4th time for this issue. There are no warnings indicating the braking system is malfunctioning.
The rear brake does not slow the vehicle even when pressed to the end of brake lever travel. Yes, available for inspection upon request. Braking capability is reduced (only front brake works). Yes, the problem has been confirmed by dealer, and I was informed that it has been seen on other vehicles of the same make/model. The dealer attempted to fix the issue but it has resurfaced after only a short amount of time. The dealer informed me that it was a design issue where the brake fluid is too close to the hot exhaust system and this problem will continue to reoccur until this is changed. Has not been inspected by manufacturer, police, insurance, etc. No warning lamps. The only symptom is progressively more stroke on the brake pedal/lever to engage the rear brake. When it bottoms out, there is no longer any braking capability from the rear brake. Issue first appeared less than 6 months after purchase of new vehicle.
