The collision alert warning lights have been coming on since the DAY I drove out of the dealership! They tried to dismiss it as my fault - I got too close to something (I was simply passing another car). This has been a constant issue and I’ve told the dealership every time I’ve had it serviced. I’ve had about four times that I’ve been driving at high speeds and the vehicle suddenly slams on the brakes because it’s “thinking I’m gonna hit something.” Usually it’s if I’m passing another car, but it’s also happened when there is nothing near at all. This past week was the last straw!! I was going 70 mph down the highway, had just passed a semi, and all hell broke loose. Jerked me from side to side, the brakes engaged and were jolting me, smoking, grinding, and screeching horribly because they would not give up in trying to stop me. Oil dumped all over and a burning smell, shaking and jerking, couldn’t steer, etc.. during this scary time, the service 4WD light and crash alert lights all come on. Thankfully the semi I was passing was paying attention and did not hit me. I was two hours from home so the Jeep was towed to the nearest dealership. I later learned there is a service recall that JUST came out early March 2026. It’s called 12D and is a software update related to all these codes it’s been throwing and how myJeep has been behaving for TWO years. Software needs to be updated or can have all this stuff that happened to me… because the systems don’t know what to do?? There is also a service bulletin out there that service techs SHOULD be aware of that addresses known issues with the PTU (power transfer unit). I just learned from the dealership that has my Jeep - the PTU is shot!! Imagine that! They have a PTU unit ordered but will not know what else is damaged until they tear into it. It shouldn’t take an injury or death to get notices out there when there are known issues. Thank you! This dealership where my Jeep is finally seems to know what they are doing!
Three times now, my steering wheel feels like it’s jerking out of my hands and difficult to turn. It has happened at low speeds while maneuvering in parking lots. I’m afraid it’ll happen at higher speeds as it gets worse.

Vehicle traveling at highway speeds 70 mph, will suddenly slam on brakes. While there is nothing in front of the vehicle and or sensor. weather type was clear not a sight of rain or snow.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it remained for approximately one month; however, the dealer failed to duplicate the failure. The dealer requested that the contact drive with a mechanic to pinpoint the failure experienced with the vehicle. The mechanic requested to drive the vehicle on the parkway, but the contact declined. The contact returned the rental vehicle and drove the vehicle back to the residence. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance, and the contact was provided a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
On February 18, 2026, while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system activated unexpectedly. There were no vehicles, pedestrians, or obstacles present. The vehicle came to an abrupt stop, causing the tires to squeal and creating a hazardous situation. A second incident occurred on March 14, 2026, while traveling approximately 55 mph. Under normal driving conditions with no apparent hazards, the automatic braking system again engaged suddenly and without warning, bringing the vehicle to an unsafe and unexpected deceleration. This malfunction poses a significant safety risk, as it could lead to rear-end collisions or loss of vehicle control, endangering both the driver and other motorists. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership on March 16, 2026, for inspection. Initial diagnostic testing reportedly found no issues. At my request, the dealership retained the vehicle overnight for further evaluation. Upon pickup, I was informed that a software update was performed on the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) module; however, no definitive cause of the malfunction was identified. The dealership also indicated that the manufacturer is aware of similar issues but has not provided a resolution at this time. There were no warning lights, alerts, or prior indications of a malfunction before either incident occurred. The problem has not been resolved and may still be present. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
Vehicle started show MULTIPLE errors on dash from blind spot not working , lane assist not working, AEB need to be checked, rear brake light not working, turn signal not work, lane assist not working and other errors. Went to dealership for these errors where they repaired a faulty sensor on the front for the lane assist and from collision. Said it was fixed...It was not. Within a hour leaving the dealership, if you pressed to turn off the power save button for when the vehicle when it comes to a stop and not idle, the errors all pop up one after another.. they did not correct any of the errors. I check back lighting and they are on and working but errors say they aren't. Front collison day is it not on but it works and alarms a sound. This is dangerous and if it will have dangerous outcome given it would not correct. Also was receiving notification.to pay into a program for future problem the moment it started again (i paid for extra coverage at signing) I don't know if it's electrical, auto start stop, the lights or something else. Car is barely 2 years old with less than 10,000 mi on it (straight for dealership). Dealership do not clear codes or correct the errors no matter me mentioning them to them.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes independently activated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact was informed that without any fault codes, no actions could be taken. The dealer deactivated the front sensor. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
1.) I own 2024 Jeep Compass Latitude 4x4. Several occasions where rodents have climbed into engine eating away at all the wire components. First time totaling about $4000. No other closely parked cars have been affected since we live in apartment complex. 2.) The automatic emergency braking light keeps illuminating and has activated at least twice during traffic unprovoked and always says to clean all sensors. We have done that but the light still comes on when it wants to.
I was in an accident that I hit a guardrail once going 70 mph and then bounced off and hit the guardrail and none of my air bags deployed.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure had occurred approximately four times. The vehicle was repaired for the same failure approximately three times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
UNKNOWN.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while driving at 35 MPH and started to decelerate unintendedly. The check engine and the throttle system warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was test-driven, but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, who informed the contact about the stored codes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to another local dealer, Clay Cooley Irving Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram (815 E Camp Wisdom Rd, Duncanville, TX 75116), where it was diagnosed and determined that a cell was dead and there was an auxiliary battery failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
Since the first day that I got the vehicle to the dealership I just driven it over the night and the engine light came on (check engine light) the sales agent told me that probably it would be the battery so nothing to be worried and also told me that they will take care about it so I drop off the car to the dealer and also I went to be able to see if it was possible to get a return or any other trade for it because obviously I won’t keep the vehicle, so they reject it and they just told me that it wouldn’t be possible at this time. So they keep in the vehicle to check it and at the same day I’ll start searching for the vehicle history report and I found out that it was involved in a transit accident a year ago and they even’t mentioned anything about it. Not even that I found some more that they obviously didn’t mentioned also.
Vehicle randomly locks up while going down the highway as if I’ve hit something or the emergency parked has turned on. No codes present and when taken to the dealer they are not able to replicate the issue. This vehicle has only 41,000 miles! After searching forums and groups on social media, I have found MANY people experiencing the same issue. This vehicle needs to be recalled for safety concerns. Ask anyone that this has happened to and they will tell you that it is violent when it occurs. This type of thing is absolutely unacceptable and dangerous. Stellantis needs to issue a recall on these cars!
Upon engine start up at the home of my S/O, [XX], the warning "Service Automatic Throttle Control" appeared on the dashboard. Placing the vehicle into gear first in reverse, then in drive resulted in sudden acceleration and erratic lurching. I had no brakes whatsoever. At one point my S/O nearly hit on the dash per signed affidavit. I had to place my 2024 Jeep Compass in Park in order to stop and then slowly maneuver it into a safe parking spot before having it towed to Golling Jeep Ram Dodge in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Tech diagnosis two days later showed Error Code 2299. But the vehicle started and operated as normal. Nothing wrong. After a test drive the next day to be sure, they had me get my vehicle. Although my door sticker gives a manufacturing date of 6/2024, I call your attention to NHTSA Recall 24V-240 over throttle control system software. Strangely enough, this exact same malfunction occurred at the same address on [XXX], almost a year earlier. It was towed at that time to Suburban JDR in Farmington, MI where, again, my vehicle showed the same 2299 Code but otherwise, performing well, advising me to come get my Compass. So, both times my 2024 Jeep Compass took control away from me, this time with no brakes, almost injuring my S/O. Fortunately, both incidents happened in her gated community with no pedestrians or traffic. In addition to this intermittent, dangerous malfunction, I owned both a 2018 and a 2021 Compass one of which, like the Dodge Ram recall, had a horribly malfunctioning turn signal. The VINs: 2018 [XXX] ; and the 2021 #[XXX]. This is real and dangerous. That I can attest to. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
