VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 201, "OCCUPANT PROTECTION IN INTERIOR IMPACTS." THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONSOLE COVER/ARMREST CAM LATCH THAT COULD RELEASE AT LESS THAN THE REQUIRED LOAD OF THE STANDARD.
Consequence: DURING A CRASH, THE CONSOLE COVER COULD OPEN AND THE COVER OR ITEMS STORED UNDER IT COULD INJURY AN OCCUPANT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CONSOLE LATCH MECHANISM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THIRD ROW NEON BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOT GIVEN THE PROPER ILLUMINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE THEREFORE, THE DEALER CUT THE THIRD ROW NEON BRAKE LIGHT CABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,390 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,800.
WHEN I PUT GAS IN MY GMC ENVOY IT WILL GO UP TO THE FULL MARK AND THEN JUST DROP DOWN PAST EMPTY AND THEN AFTER AWHILE START REGISTERING RIGHT..MY GAS LIGHT COMES ON WAY BEFORE I AM EMPTY,BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK BACK IN JUNE OF 2011..I HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS I AM...HOPE GMC DOES SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2000 GMC JIMMY ENVOY. I SMELLED BURNING PLASTIC AS I WAS DRIVING AND WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER MOTORIST THAT I HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS. THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON AND THEN THEY WOULD NOT WORK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP TO REPLACE THE TURN SIGNAL & HAZARD WARNING SWITCH. THIS CORRECTED THE BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM. AFTER READING ABOUT THE REASON FOR THE RECALL OF THESE SWITCHES, I DISASSEMBLED THE OLD SWITCH ONLY TO FIND THAT IT ALSO HAD BRASS CONTACTS FOR THE HAZARD WARNING LAMPS. THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY REPLACED IN 2003 BY A DEALER. REPLACING IT WITH THE SAME PART THAT WAS RECALLED! *TR

CONSUMER HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION IN THE 2000 GMC ENVOY REBUILT.*MR THE SUN GEAR FAILED WHICH REQUIRED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION BE DISASSEMBLED TO REPAIR. *NM
10234, DOOR TRIM COMES OFF; 17660, HINGE HOOD RATTLES; 26510, IDLER ARM HAD TO BE REPLACED; 44938, PINION SEALS & POWER STEERING SEALS WERE LEAKING; 56785, CD PLAYER HAD TO BE REPLACED; 72375, TRANSMISSION WENT OUT; 95819, COMPUTER HAD TO BE REPLACED; 106169, RIGHT HEADLAMP HAD TO BE REPLACED (FOR ALMOST $800!!!); AND SPORADIC INCIDENCES OF DIFFERENT DASH LIGHTS COMING ON & STAYING ON. OBVIOUSLY, ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS WEREN'T ON THE DATE LISTED BELOW, BUT THAT'S THE DATE OF THE FIRST ONE.
WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING 4-WHEEL DRIVE WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO INTO EFFECT. *AK
HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS ON 2000 GMC ENVOY. THROWS A BEAM OF LIGHT ALMOST STRAIGHT UP THAT DIMINISHES YOUR VISION WHEN DRIVING ON DARK ROADS AT NIGHT. *JB

CONTACTED GMC AND HAD A RETURN REPLY BY CAC@GMC.COM APOLOGIZING FOR MY DISSATISFACTION OF HAVING THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. THAT IN MY FAMILY WE HAVE 3 JIMMY'S AND ALL OF THEM DIFFERENT YEARS, NEEDING THE SAME REPAIR. THIS PERSON SAID THAT I COULD LOG A COMPLAINT, IN SO, THIS IS WHY I'M PASSING THIS ON TO THIS DEPARTMENT. ALSO IN LOGGING ON I'VE LISTED MY VIN # WITH THE 17 CHARACTERS. THE SIGHT LISTED THAT I WAS GIVING AN INVALID # OF LESS THAN 17 BUT, IN FACT I LISTED EXACTLY THE 17. MR
CONSUMER STATES THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ON STAR SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE AND WHAT GMC IS DOING REPLACING THE ON STAR SYSTEM AND IN THE PROCESS IS DISABLEING THE SYSTEM. WHAT GMC IS NOT DOING IS INFORMING THE CONSUMERS WITH THIS PROBLEM SO IF THE CONSUMER EVER NEEDS HELP THE ON STAR SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK UNTIL IT IS ACTIVATED. NLM

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE EXTERIOR MIRRORS WILL ADJUST FAR OUTWARDS, WOULD BE UNABLE TO SEE OTHER VEHICLES BESIDES OR BEHIND CONSUMER EYE SIGHT. MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE IN MIRRORS MOTOR. MECHANIC HAS REPLACED MIRRORS TWICE. *AK
