This happened in an Enterprise rental car. Now I will be fighting against loss of rental and rental damages to car my insurance company provided because of a claim on my personal vehicle. I was driving northbound 270 merging onto westbound 64 in St. Louis, Mo, when the back windshield spontaneously exploded. I thought it was a gunshot, checked my body for damage; none found. Looked in my rear view mirror and saw the entire back windshield was completely cracked.
1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Driver assist systems, including lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance/braking system, and related exterior sensor systems, are malfunctioning. The lane assist system has taken unintended control of steering, and the braking system has activated without cause. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle has exhibited unintended braking and steering intervention during normal driving conditions. Most recently, the lane assist system abruptly jerked the steering wheel while passing a side road opening, forcing the vehicle into a curb and causing damage. These unpredictable actions create a high risk of collision, loss of vehicle control, or being struck by other vehicles, especially in active traffic conditions. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The vehicle was brought to the dealership for inspection; however, the issues were not reproduced during testing. Testing occurred under dry weather conditions, while the malfunctions primarily occur in wet, cold, snowy, or icy conditions. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Genesis dealership service department. Genesis Consumer Affairs has been notified and is aware of the reported issues. No other third-party inspections have been performed at this time. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There have been intermittent warning messages & dashboard indicator lights related to driver assist and system functionality. These warnings have appeared inconsistently and not always at the time of the malfunction. The problems began after 30K mi and returning to NY.

This is my second GV70 I had a 2024 and now a 2025. They had to buy back my first car due to the exact same issue. I was assured that the new model which I bought a different Hyundai in between the two GV70’s. I have owed over 100 cars and I truly love the Genesis but the SUV is Totally Unsafe to drive with the cruise control. The cruise control will slam on or firmly apply the breaks for zero reason. You will be driving no one around at all and the breaks come on. I have been almost rear ended several times. This happened the very first day I drove the car on I75. It happens daily that I am on I75 so I now only use the cruise control when there is no traffic. On my way to Lexington it happened 5 times. But now it’s getting worse. This will eventually kill somebody. I have been very nice but once I got tired of waiting for the dealership to do something about it I went to Genesis directly and now the dealership refuses to let me come back due to my complaint. The dealership Genesis of West Knoxville refuses to fix the problem and Genesis told me to go to the BBB. . Well the BBB is not the answer if someone dies due to this very serious situation. PLEASE help before someone dies. I have had two different dealerships service department people tell me they seen this before and even my first Genesis rep said this is an issue now they all say they never said it. And Genesis even took my advocate away and gave me a new one that I had for months and months and within a few days the new one said Genesis sees no reason to go any further. Thanks in advance for your help. Ron Garrett 931-303-4882
I am writing to formally escalate a serious unresolved issue with my Genesis vehicle and the service experience I have received from Genesis of Huntington. My vehicle has experienced repeated and dangerous malfunctions despite multiple repair attempts. The most concerning issue is that the vehicle suddenly stops functioning properly while driving, accompanied by all dashboard warning lights flashing. In order to continue driving, I have had to turn the vehicle off and restart it. The vehicle has been brought back to the dealership multiple times for the same problem. Each time I was informed that the issue had been repaired and that parts had been replaced. However, the problem continues to occur even after these repairs. One of the most alarming incidents occurred while I was driving from Huntington back to Queens with my wife and newborn child in the car. The vehicle malfunctioned again, forcing me to stop and restart the car while on the road. This situation created a serious safety risk for my family. Additionally, the vehicle has been kept by the dealership for extended periods during repair attempts. As of my most recent interaction, the dealership had the vehicle for nearly two weeks during the third repair attempt for the same issue. Despite this significant amount of time, the problem remains unresolved. Compounding the issue is the lack of communication from the dealership. My attempts to contact the service department and management for updates have often gone unanswered, leaving me without information regarding the status of my vehicle. At this point, I have lost confidence in the reliability of the vehicle and the ability of the dealership to properly diagnose and repair the issue. I respectfully request immediate intervention from Genesis Motor America to review this matter. Given the repeated repair attempts for the same defect and the safety concerns involved, I ask that Genesis consider a permanent resolution.
The contact owns a 2025 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, it failed to exceed 15 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving on several occasions, the instrument panel unintendedly turned off. The failure had been occurring intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be diagnosed unless the failure occurred during the diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact learned online that another vehicle owner had experienced the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed that the report would be escalated to the correct department. The failure mileage was approximately 11,475.
My vehicle failed while in motion. I lost power to the vehicle and power steering. Just before the car failed, I heard a pop and a warning light came on that said "Check Electric Vehicle System". The car's ICCU failed and caused failures of the battery and 12v battery. My safety and everyone on the road around me's safety was put at risk when I lost the ability to accelerate or use power steering. The car was towed to a dealer and the dealer confirmed the issue. The ICCU failure and failure of the vehicle while in motion is directly related to a previous safety recall (025G) for which repair work was done on my vehicle. The recall repair was ineffective as the very issue it was intended to resolve still happened to me in a 1 year old car with only 8,000 miles.
On Feb. 2, While driving slowly in a school zone, with no cars in front of me, my car proceeded to abruptly brake over and over 5 times. The warning came on the dash "front end collision". I also had NO CONTROL over the car! I was extremely fortunate not to be rear ended during this event. At that time I immediately called my Genesis dealer who asked if it was snowing and often this can occur! What???? No it was NOT snowing and HOW could I drive a car knowing that this dangerous event can happen????? The Service Advisor was NOT very helpful, offered NO solutions and I was very scared driving my car home to say the least! Today, Feb. 3 (the next day following this incident) I called my Genesis dealer again asking for the Service Mgr. The car was now showed a warning light indicating a malfunction in the Active Air Flap system and the Service Mgr. informed me that the car is NOT SAFE to drive and they would tow it to the dealership.
I was heading home early in the morning on 12/13/2025 to drop a few passengers on Springfield avenue heading east in Champaign IL (the Main Street) and the other vehicle came from 5th st heading north (5th street is a side street with a stop sign at that intersection). As I approached the intersection I saw the car come forward and then come to a complete stop before the intersection I assumed to look both ways. I was 10 feet away from the intersection when the car tried to speed across the intersection and I stomped on the brakes but it wasn’t enough to stop the collision from occurring while the FCA failed to kick in. The FCA frontal collision avoidance assist did not work when a car pulled out right in front of me. Since the car pulled out in front of me at the last second on a 25mph street my car collided into the reckless driver who had a stop sign and I had the right away. The car is currently in bad condition and the radiator got destroyed at the point of impact it’s currently at a collision repair center for inspection and repair. I gave a verbal explanation to the insurance company at this time there are photos to of the frontal area from the collision. There were no warnings that went off the night of the collision the FCA just failed to kick in resulting in an accident, when its primary job is stop a frontal collision it failed to do so.
The contact owns a 2025 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that the A/C system had become inoperable. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving 30-40 MPH, the defroster failed to engage as intended, causing the windows to become foggy. The contact pulled over to the side of the road to wipe the windows. The contact stated that the failure persisted while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be serviced because there were 25 other vehicles of the same model year that were ahead of the vehicle for the same failure. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the repair was urgently needed because the contact resided in Southern Florida, where the weather was significantly humid, causing the windows to be foggy while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that another dealer would be contacted for the repair; however, the contact had not received a call back from the manufacturer after several days. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
I started leasing this car brand new in April. The most problematic issue I have encountered is the false emergency breaking when backing up, which has almost gotten me into an accident multiple times. It happens randomly when the car is in reverse and it's never triggered by anything that's actually in the way while backing up. It's like a glitch. And when it break-checks me, it's an intense jolt that scares me every single time, it feels like I ran into a wall. When I have tried to make a quick maneuver to turn around with oncoming traffic, it'll break check me (again for now reason) so I'm stuck, then I have to put the car back into drive, then reverse again, then drive to go. It's not a smooth or safe system at all. This is a major safety issue and I have read about other people complaining about this as well. I have gone to the dealership I purchased the car from in South Bay, and Jason in the service department attempted to turn off all driving assist signals which didn't do anything. Then I took it to Santa Monica Genesis twice and they attempted to turn off all safety features as well, but the false emergency breaking has continued happening.
I was driving on the road when suddenly the car started an alarm sound, with the message in the heads up display to "stop immediately and check the brake system". I pulled over into the nearest side street and parked the car. When I put it back in drive, I had lost power steering, and half of the warning indicators had lit up, including but not limited to: power steering warning, brake warning, charging system warning, oil pressure warning, master warning light, parking brake and brake fluid warning, ABS Warning, and AWD warning. I tried holding down the parking brake button, and the first time all the lights went away for 5 seconds, but then they all came back again. I restarted the car a few times, and each time I got the same "check brake system" message as well as all the warning light symbols. I was not able to drive my car at all to remove it from in front of other peoples houses. I had to tow the car to the dealership, and the SOS button on the car did nothing. No warning lamps, messages, or similar symptoms had appeared prior to the failure, they all showed up after the "check brake system" alert appeared. 6 months ago I had another problem with the car, where past the speed of 30 MPH, the car would not shift gears up to a higher one. It kept increasing the RPMs when trying to go faster but would not shift gears, leaving me unable to safely match the speed of traffic and having to drive all the way to the dealership with my hazard lights on.
The contact owns a 2025 Genesis GV70. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and occupied or while driving, the infotainment system displayed a blank screen. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the infotainment system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, and a software update was performed. The contact related the failure NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V105000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000.
When I press the gas pedal halfway or 3/4 nothing happens - which is really bad in heavy traffic situations. On the highway, I floored it and the RPM was racing but it wouldn't shift up, so the engine was racing but there was no acceleration at all. I backed off and accelerated lightly, it would speed up. Scary. I have stomped on the accelerator it will rev to between 4 and 5 thousand rpms never up shifting or accelerating. Happens to frequently and I only have 11,000 miles on the vehicle. Genesis service can't locate the issue.
Newly purchased 10 months ago and both right and left headlight inner lenses are covered in condensation. Blurs the LED light illumination. Reduced night illumination for maximum distance of road hazards. Increased chance of premature bulb failure due to direct exposure of moisture/water vapors. Unreliability of critical lighting safety requirements.
