The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while attempting to turn off the vehicle, the alarm sounded and the message, "Shift to Park," was displayed even though the gear shifter was in park. The contact shifted from park into several driving positions before the vehicle recognized that the transmission was in park, and the vehicle was turned off. The failure had become a persistent failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the gear shifter had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.

Shift to Park. Unable to turn the car off even though the car is in park. This was previously fixed in 10/24 and started up in 10/25 a few days after the 1yr warranty. I reached out to the dealership that repaired it in 2024 and was told that I would have to pay for the service as the part is not covered under the powertrain warranty. I reached out to GM for assistance and that was a lost cause. I was told that the repairs will only last 1 to 2 yrs, so this appears that it will be a temporary fix. My car has about 55000 miles on it. To know that I may possibly have to continue to get this fixed, I feel like this should be considered a lemon and they should refund me for the cost of the vehicle or give me another car. GM knows that the Shift to Park is an ongoing issue with this year, make, model and have failed to issue a recall.

I am reporting a dangerous failure of the fuel supply control module in my vehicle, which caused the engine to stall and cut off during acceleration while driving in heavy, 45-60 mph traffic. While I was able to have the issue diagnosed and repaired by Newman’s Auto—with an invoice available—I believe this 44,000-mile vehicle experienced a premature failure. Given that this component is currently recalled on similar Chevrolet SUVs and trucks, I believe this model should be included in the recall. The vehicle started throwing an error stating 'shift to park' after putting the vehicle in park. When attempting to turn the vehicle off it will not allow it, just keeping up the shift to park message on the dash. I am then unable to lock the doors. This could kill my battery as the engine eventually turns off but the lights stay on. Furthermore, leaving the vehicle unlocked and on for some time puts it at risk of being stolen. It does not happen every time I turn the vehicle off. I have tried shifting it back and forth between drive and park and sometimes that corrects the issue. I just got this vehicle about a week ago and it has not yet been diagnosed or seen as this problem just began last night. There were no other issues experienced yet. Googling it, seems to be a common issue with many Traverse owners, stating that it is typically the transmission shift control module. I do plan on following up with the dealership asap.

I just purchased the vehicle there was an open recall that was never taken care of. I took it to the dealership and the front exhaust pipe is cracked and leaking which was the original recall
ENGINEJanuary 6, 2026
Both the front AND REAR exhaust pipes are cracked and broken with holes in them where the SINGLE bracket that secures both pipes mounts. There was special coverage issued to repair, but the special coverage only identifies the front pipe. The rear pipe is essentially dangling from the upstream catalytic converter, which also appears to be cracked due to the same underlying issue. If the vehicle doors are open, exhaust fumes will enter, rather than be expelled to the rear of vehicle. This pipe can essentially finish cracking and fall off into the roadway. The check engine light did not come on until these components broke. The problem is vast across many of these vehicles as reported to me by an owner of an independent service center as well as technicians who work at certified GM dealerships. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I currently still drive it, but its just a matter of time before a heaping hunk of metal pipe falls onto the roadway and causes an accident. The rear pipe is almost completely separated from the remaining exhaust pipe between the upstream and downstream catalytic converters at the bracket location before the flex pipe.

On Friday, 12/19/2025, I started by car and noticed that the infotainment display was taking longer than usual to boot up. It cycled through the Chevrolet splash screen 2 times until it ended on the "Update Failed. Returned to dealer." Due to this message on the infotainment display, there is no sound coming out of the speakers which results: *unable to hear turn signals when they are activated, *the front camera is no longer working, *unable to hear the parking assist when in reverse, *OnStar is no longer working, and *unable to hear front collision warnings. The display just cycles this message. I called around to several dealerships to see if I could get in that day to get this corrected. I was able to take it to a Chevrolet dealership on Tuesday, 12/23/2025, who diagnosed the problem as software corruption due to the over-the-air update and will result in a new radio needing to be installed. I then called Chevrolet Customer Service Center who stated that since my vehicle is outside of the bumper-to-bumper warranty, regardless of their over-the-air update causing the problem, I would have to pay for the repair. I asked, how do I know that this won't happen again with the new radio? They suggested that I have the dealership turn off the automatic over-the-air updates.

When I shift my car into park and turn off the engine, an error message appears-"Shift to Park." Although the dashboard displays that the vehicle is in park, the radio and lights remain active & I am unable to turn off my car. To resolve this issue, I must restart the car and cycle through park, reverse, or neutral before attempting to shift back into park again. It often takes multiple attempts to eliminate the error message. My Traverse is currently at the dealership, where I have been informed that it needs a new shifter, which is not covered under warranty. These vehicle is garage kept, one owner & has less than 32k miles on it- I have also discovered that this issue is recognized by GM, with numerous complaints documented on this site alone. Given that this is a widespread problem affecting many owners, it seems unreasonable for us to shoulder the expense of this repair.

When shifting my vehicle into Park, the message “Shift to Park” appears even though the gear lever is already in the Park position. The vehicle does not always recognize that it is in Park, which prevents it from fully shutting off and poses a potential rollaway or battery drain risk. Often the radio/bluetooth components remain on. This issue creates a safety concern when parking, especially on inclines or in public areas and I live on a dangerous steep driveway. The problem was confirmed by Montgomery Chevrolet on October 28, 2024, after I paid $175 for a diagnostic that is not covered under warranty. They verified the “Shift to Park” malfunction and provided a repair estimate of $1,796.55. The vehicle and component are available for inspection upon request with videos and photos of the "shift to park" error log. The issue as noted by mechanic at dealership is "position switch internally shorting out intermittently in shifter control assembly. Replaced shifter control assembly." The "shift to park" error message is no longer present (for now). I'm concerned this may happen again; my cost to repair was $651.24. This repair should be covered under a vehicle recall as it is an ongoing issue with some Chevrolet vehicles, along with the persistent squeaky brakes. This shift to park issue is not covered if the bumper-to-bumper warranty has expired. It may, however, be covered if you have an extended warranty. The only way to fix the issue is reverse multiple times put vehicle in drive and then park hoping the issue will resolve on its own. The front exhaust pipe on my 2022 Chevy Traverse has a defect which mirrors existing NHTSA recalls on 2019-2021 Chevy Traverse models. GM is aware of this problem, and has no available parts to resolve it and has offered no alternative repairs in the absence of parts. This makes my vehicle undriveable. That results in my employer risking my employment because I cannot travel to the office. About 1 week ago, I began getting "Shift To Park" warnings/notifications when I would park the car and turn off the engine. To make it stop, I usually have to turn the car back on, shift to a different gear, shift back to Park, wiggle the gear shift around side to side and back and forth within the Park gear. Sometimes it will have remedied when I attempt to turn the car off the second time, and other times I need to do the same procedure again. In looking it up online, this is a known issue, and an ongoing issue, with GM vehicles over the past several years with no fix or attention to mandate a correction. This seems to effect GM vehicles of multiple models and can allow the vehicle to roll (and my driveway is a small hill on the top of the hill/cul d' sac that we live in). When it fails to recognize the vehicle is in Park, I cannot exit the car, the alerts and chimes continue and would ultimately drain my battery if it failed to recognize that it was in Park. Gm needs to take response ability for the 2022 as well and fix the issue and replace the pipe and the catalytic converter. Hope someone will listen and take this serious and make gm do the right thing for the consumer.

The exhaust pipe separated from the mounting bracket resulting in damage to the pipe leading to the manifold. This is a 2 year old vehicle. This issue has been reported in multiple years of Chevrolet Traverses. Chevrolet extended warranties on 2021 Chevrolet Traverses to 150,000 mile for this exact issue but clearly have not fixed the problem for the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. N222385510 There was no warning of this issue.

Wife was driving my kids to school this am. Driving up a slight hill on a speed limit 55 road vehicle started slowing down and wouldn’t accelerate. Stopped for a traffic light and it very slowly accelerated like a manual transmission stuck in a higher gear. Check engine light went on. I Was able to drive the traverse to the local gmc/Buick dealer which mentioned they were able to download some codes about possible transmission failure - super dangerous and very concerning for a ~1.5 year old vehicle with under 13,000 miles. This could be a major safety issue. Vehicle left at dealer, at this time no confirmed diagnosis but dealer acknowledged there’s a problem.

leased vehicle brand new in 4/22 and have had nothing but issues since then.. new radio/navigation (would stay on with car off), torque tube replaced, chip malfunctions, grinding issue with truck steering wheel that pulls at times from this- truck red dash light blinking & truck dead stopping at 60mph on highway. truck has been to service center for months in & out. have been told many times they cannot duplicate the stopping issue so therefore cannot fix it. Electrical codes pulled & are active. The truck is NOT SAFE!! my 2 year old was in it when it dead stopped on the highway.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while shifting the transmission into park (P), the vehicle failed to park. The "Shift to Park" message was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle inadvertently and aggressively lunged backward while stopped. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the transmission was replaced and repairs were performed on the exhaust system; however, the failure recurred with the vehicle making an abnormal sound while driving. Additionally, the contact stated that her daughter suffered shortness of breath and dizziness while asleep inside the vehicle, which she later received medical attention for. Upon inspection, the contact noticed there was a leak in the exhaust system. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the exhaust pipe had a leak and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

On multiple occasions the vehicle will not turn off due to the shift to park preventing the engine from turning off. If the operator is in a garage and needs to turn the engine off this will prevent the operator from turning it off and could cause injury or death due to vehicle exhaust. I currently have it at the Chevy dealership for warranty repair but I’m not sure if they will cover it. Here’s a link to the video of the issue: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Automobile less than 1 year old w/ less than 14,000 miles has had the following service issues. Transmission Failure 06/28/2023 - Replacement of entire valve body Transmission Failure 07/06/2023 - Dealership claims entire transmission to be replaced. Mileage between failures was 334. No Accident or injury, but when a transmission fails with a family of 5 in the car, it is unsettling and unacceptable for a vehicle that is less than 1 year old w/ very low miles.

Vehicle has been owned for 15 months. This vehicle has been to Chevrolet dealer for the same problem over 7 times. Radio and instrument cluster has turned off and screen has stayed black. I’m august it made vehicle unsafe to drive and operate and had to be towed. Dealer replaced radio screen twice and problem still persists. Cruises control becomes unavailable at random times and won’t function until you power cycle vehicle. Phone and radio will not pair or function together at random times. Pedestrian warning would randomly brake vehicle when driving and no obstacles nor pedestrians were near by. Was almost involved in a collision due to this. Chevrolet dealer has been unable to diagnose electrical problem even after changing radio twice, amplifier once due to it having overheated and burned out, pedestrian module once. Continue to have same problems.current odometer reading is at 37,200

2022 Traverse won't start everyday, needs Jump start multiple times a day. "Battery Saver Active" is displayed on dashboard. Randomly noticed "service ECS", "service parking brake" messages on dashboard. This vehicle is not reliable and will have you stranded in middle of road, vehicle is driven only 6K miles.

As I was pulling out of my parking space on the street a car was coming toward me and the forward collision alert lights and sound went off as well as a terrible grinding started as if it was trying to brake as I was driving but not slowing me down. This has now happened 4 times. The first two times there were cars coming toward me but we were not in jeopardy of a collision. The grinding only stops once I remove my foot from the gas pedal. I took it to the dealership after the 2nd time and they checked the brakes and couldn’t recreate the issue and said everything looked good.
EXTERIOR LIGHTINGDecember 28, 2022
Driving home tonight there was a car in front of me so my low beams were on. I saw a deer approaching from the right side of the roadway while at the same time dropping down into a small dip in the road and because the headlights are so low I lost sight of the deer as it was then in the shadows with no illumination because the headlights were now facing further downward. I had to turn my high beams on coming to a complete stop to then see the deer to avoid hitting it. This is very unsafe. Small hills and dips cause you to lose sight of the road up ahead at night.

The headlight position on the 2022 Traverse is horrible and a tremendous safety hazzard. Driving in rain, at night, the headlights being lower on the front end dramatically inhibits visibility. Unless you drive with the high beams on, you can't see at all. Last week I drove in falling snow at night and visibility was again inhibited due to the position of the headlights. But also, I had to keep pulling over to wipe the headlights off because snow off of the vehicles in front of me was covering the headlights due to them being so low on the vehicle. This was a safety hazzard in that the visibility was horrible, but I was also sitting on the side of the road, during a snowstorm, every time I had to get out to wipe them off. I did not have this issue with my 2018 Traverse

Vehicle lost all power steering control, and the engine was "revving" as if the vehicle was placed in Neutral while trying to drive. Not only was my safety placed at risk during this occurrence, but that of my 5year old daughters as well who was traveling with me, when the power steering was inoperable at +70mph. This could have turned into a very ugly accident at the expense of the manufacturer. Dealership was able to "reproduce/confirm" issue. The vehicle was towed to the purchasing dealership where it was inspected by a dealer service tech and deemed necessary to replace. During 4050420- Vehicle started making a "Fluttering" noise from the front right side of the vehicle while vehicle was placed in "P" and idling. The vehicle was taken in for a Dealer Inspection, which found a leak in the neck weld of my front exhaust pipe. The vehicle did not display any warning lamps or messages to indicate there was an issue. Dealership was able to "reproduce/confirm" issue.

The Service Restraint System and Air Bag lights come on intermittently while driving my 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. According to the Stonebriar Chevrolet dealer in Frisco, TX, the airbags will not deploy if the vehicle is in accident while the light is on. The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled and lost motive power. There were no warning lights prior to the failure. After the vehicle stopped completely, the message to shift to neutral appeared. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed with no failure being found. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure reoccurred, and the contact pressed the OnStar button; however, was informed the vehicle has not sent a failure message or check engine indication. The failure reoccurred continuously; then The OnStar service had a tow truck arrive at the last failure. As the vehicle was placed onto the flatbed, approximately 5 gallons of gasoline leaked out. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 437.
EXTERIOR LIGHTINGJanuary 30, 2022
First I will say I am an experienced driver with 40 years of driving experience and owned may automobiles. This is the first automobile I have owned with LED headlights. During my product research, car review magazines touted LED headlights as superior. Sadly, I have not found this to be the case. I have found with the LED headlights, there is a very distinct horizontal line, almost a focused, horizontal beam of light, which can literally be described as night and day. The headlights, while driving on a perfectly flat surface, illuminates the road quite well in the distance and seem to work best on the expressway. But no road is perfectly flat. Driving through my neighborhood at night, with cars parked on the side of the road, a road with a slight rolling waviness, as I am travelling down one of these rather gentle crests, the road in the distance front of me is not illuminated (as the beam of light is projecting downward), and I have found that in general, dark colored cars parked on the side of the road are hidden until I am almost upon them. To make matters worse, just driving through the neighborhood at night, irregardless of the road, I have found that these head lights do not cause the reflectors on parked cars to illuminute at all due to the beam of light projecting low and not enough light scatter, which makes it difficult to identify dark colored parked vehicles. Also, I live in a neighborhood with no sidewalks. People are out on the streets walking. If they have dark colored clothing on, it is extremely difficult to see these people as once again, the beam of light is projected low. On the older cars with halogen lighting, there was enough light scattering about to fully illuminate pedestrians as well as activate the rear relectors on cars. I feel these LED head lights are quite dangerous and hope inprovements can be made. No incidents have occured, but I feel this will be an ongoing problem.
