THESE HEADLAMPS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THESE LAMPS DO NOT CONTAIN THE REQUIRED AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS.
Consequence: DECREASED LIGHTING VISIBILITY MAY RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.

SOME COMBINATION LAMPS THAT ARE NOT EQUIPPED WITH AMBER SIDE REFLECTORS FAIL TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 108, LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT.
Consequence: WITHOUT THE AMBER REFLECTORS, THE VEHICLE WILL BE POORLY ILLUMINATED, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: SEDAN AND COUPE MODEL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A BOSE AUDIO SYSTEM THAT HAD SEPARATE SPEAKER AMPLIFIERS MOUNTED BEHIND THE REAR SEAT BACK. A TRANSISTOR IN THE SPEAKER AMPLIFIER COULD OVERHEAT.
Consequence: THIS OVERHEATING CAN RESULT IN SMOKE OR THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT BOARDS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 26, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE BRACKET CAN BE DAMAGED BY THE ENGINE ROCKING FORWARD ON ENGINE MOUNTS IN A MINOR COLLISION.
Consequence: WHEN THE SHIFT CABLE BRACKET IS DAMAGED, THE SHIFT LEVERPOSITION MAY NOT CORRECTLY INDICATE THE TRANSMISSION GEAR POSITION. THIS COULDRESULT IN UNANTICIPATED MOVEMENT OF THE CAR AND AN ACCIDENT.
Remedy: REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE AND ATTACHING HARDWARE WITH REDESIGNED ASSEMBLIES.

THREADED INFLATOR COMPONENTS MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED DURING ASSEMBLY WHICH MAY ALLOW COMPONENTS TO SEPARATE WHEN INFLATOR RECEIVES A SIGNAL TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAG.
Consequence: INFLATOR COMPONENT SEPARATION ALLOWS HOT COMBUSTION GASES TO ESCAPE INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURIES TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
Remedy: REPLACE AIR BAG MODULES CONTAINING POTENTIALLY DEFECTIVE INFLATORS.
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *BF THERE WAS NOISE ON THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, POOR GAS MILEAGE, JERKING WHEN SHIFTING GEARS, CURRENT (UNEASY DRIVING CONDITIONS), AND HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE THIRD RE-BUILT TRANSMISSION WHEN DOWNSHIFTING THE GEARS UP DURING STOPS SLOWING DOWN AND ALMOST NEUTRAL WHEN LIGHTENING UP ON THE GAS PEDAL. *SC
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45-50 MPH AND SUDDENLY ANOTHER VEHICLE STOPPED RIGHT IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, AND IT RAN RIGHT INTO THE REAR OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. UPON IMPACT BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME. *AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BRAKES FAILED. HOWEVER, CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A SENSOR. CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THIS WAS THE THIRD MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED WITHIN SIX MONTHS. BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED, AND HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH A LOUD CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE NOISE BECAME LOUDER. ALSO, VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE MOUNTS DUE TO CORROSION. *AK

I HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE COOLING SYSTEM OVERHEATING. I HAD TO REPLACE EVERY PART OF THE SYSTEM, RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT, WATER PUMP, TIMING BELT, RADIATOR CAP IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CORRECT TEMP. AT 118000 MILES MY SPEED GAUGE JUMPS AND SOMETIMES RECORD SPEEDS AS HIGH AS 90+ MPH WHEN I AM APPROACHING A STOP. THE SPEED SENSOR REPLACEMENT IS APPROXIMATLEY $200.

TO DATE I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE SPEED SENSOR, RADIATOR, MASTER CYLINDER, A/C CONDENSER, ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM WORK RANDOMLY AND GOES CRAZY, REAR RIGHT WINDOW DOES NOT WORK MOST OF THE TIME, FACTORY KEYLESS ENTRY HAS FAILED, BOSE AUDIO AMP HAS BLOWN, HAVE NOT REPLACED NOR RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, TAPE DECK OVER HEATS AND TAPES GET STUCK, SWITCHING GEARS THE CAR JUMPS. CANNOT UNLOCK CAR WITH KEYS, HAD TO INSTALL AFTERMARKET KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM.*AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE PRESSURE FAILURE. ALL PRESSURE IN BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. HAD TO PUMP BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES AND APPLY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW VEHICLE TO STOP. I CHECKED MSN WEBSITE FOR USED CAR RESEARCH INFO AND IT STATED THAT FAILURE TO ANTI-LOCK BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH ON 1991 ACURA LEGEND IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. IF SOMEONE IS TOO CLOSE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE THEN ATTEMPTS TO STOP AND HAS NO PRESSURE IN THERE BRAKING SYSTEM SERIOUS INJURY COULD OCCUR. I ALSO NOTICED A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR ON THE MSN WEBSITE. MY VEHICLE ALSO HAS THAT PROBLEM WHICH I HAVE A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR ON 08/04/2003. *PH
