SERVICE BRAKESApril 21, 2026
The issue involves the ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and hydraulic control unit on our 2017 Ram 3500. The recall states that the ABS module/hydraulic control unit may fail, which can impact braking performance and disable safety systems. The component has not been repaired because parts have been unavailable for over three years. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This defect creates a serious safety risk. The vehicle is primarily used to tow livestock, including horses, and loss or reduction of braking capability while towing could result in loss of control, increased stopping distance, or an accident involving occupants, other drivers, or transported animals. The problem has been confirmed by authorized Ram dealerships in Chehalis, Washington and Eureka, California. Both dealerships, as well as Ram customer care, have acknowledged the open recall and stated that no parts are available to complete the repair. The vehicle has not been physically inspected by the manufacturer for repair because no remedy has been available. It has not been involved in an accident related to this issue. Prior to the recall, there were no known warning messages or confirmed failures observed. However, the recall itself indicates a potential failure of the ABS system and braking components, which may occur without warning. The recall has remained unresolved for an unreasonable amount of time. The manufacturer has failed to provide a remedy for this safety-related defect within a reasonable time.

My ABS hydraulic control unit pump motor is not working properly. This has been affecting me since Oct 2024 when we were pulling our 5th wheel and losing braking and power. I learned later that It is part of a NHTSA Recall 24V-896000. Code C4B I was told by the Dodge dealer Jack Powell in [XXX] that I was on waitlist when I reported it to them 12/19/2024. During the next several months I always got the same answer so then filed a case on 7/7/2025 with the FCA. Case #XXX. During many calls after, and including the last call on 3/27/26 that the part was not available, that this was a National backorder with no ETA. I filed another case on 8/17/25 for a rental vehicle - case #XXX. After several calls I got that approved. The Dodge dealer diagnosed my truck with that active code in place. Also to be clear, the dealer has confirmed failure of the ABS system, which disables safety features Due to this defect, the truck can lose ABS braking, tractional control and electronic stability control. The dash warning lights come on all the time, with the sound too. Although I was approved for a rental vehicle, that is for $60 per day and only for a non-tow vehicle. The problem is that this vehicle is primarily used for towing. I have a 5th wheel hitch and use it for towing our 5th wheel trailer, that we purchase early 2024. We tow our boat as well. The bigger problem is that I am near retirement and we are not able to use our 5th wheel for the trips to prepare for that and the plan to travel once I retire later this year. I need to have a functionally comparable vehicle that is equipped for 5th wheel towing as a rental or reimbursement. I would also like a review for alternative remedies due to the unreasonable delay in completing the safety recall. When I contacted Stellantis on 3/27/26 I was told her was no buyback option and they would escalate to the rental dept for my concerns The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. While driving on interstate 20 and then on I65 my cruise control dropped off causing the vehicle to sudden decrease in speed. Rear end collision narrow avoided due to commercial vehicles, following, quick action saved a disaster. This loss of cruise control, is/was caused by the warning ️ of recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. We are now experiencing a total loss of safety (service electronic brake system, service abs system, loss of traction control, {loss of cruise control}). These safety functions are now making this, one ton, dually, a death trap, mental health problem (I have PTSD, depression, anger management, anxiety problems) . My wife is afraid of this vehicle, WILL NOT let me pull our 42 foot, 15,000 pound, Redwood 38GK 5th wheel RV. Should your investigation be done, this is the 3rd recall/repair on this system. Will this dangerous vehicle be the next cause or a deadly pile up, will children be the the innocent victims? This recall and the other ever be fixed? The value has dropped , now by $25k to $35,000 on truck with 45,000 miles. Appreciate your time, [XXX] . The problem with the ABS module started in 2019 when the truck had 43000 miles. The dealership told mee what the problem was but didn't have the parts to repair it. I have contacted the dealership and there is still no remedy for the issue. Please consider this a formal complaint. Thank you.

V06 Recall was attempted, but welding could not be done correctly - was told that was the "best they could do" truck continued to steer poorly (constantly have to hold the steering wheel to one side or the truck will veer out of the lane) bc steer ahead wrong, and to wear outer edge of the tires to an unsafe level in less than half the normal mileage. Now Dodge dealership/Stellantis claims the drag link assembly was permanently damaged by their prior recall work, and that truck cannot be aligned or driven safely but also won't fix it. They have been telling me they will action the case "today" or "one businesses day" since 27 Aug. I found out that the alignment and steering problem I had been spending money to fix since 2019 was a result of their poor recall repair and trying to get a response from Dodge Stellantis since AUG 06, and I have been without the use of the truck and unable to care for my horses since then. I have spent more than 14 hours directly on the phone with them without any action - my truck remains essentially impounded at the dealership. Est 20k miles at initial recall V06 failed repair attempt but their records should say. Current document is currently dealership that admitted the initial recall repair attempt damaged the draglink assembly beyond any hope of salvage/alignment.

Steering and/or front suspension developed into what is called a death wobble at 70mph. The steering wheel had so much hard wobble that it became almost uncontrollable to hold onto it, and keep the vehicle moving straight which put the vehicle onto the shoulder and into a shallow ditch. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, but when it happened previously, I had it looked at, and supposedly repaired. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, there was no damage to the vehicle, but I am taking it back to the shop where the repair was supposedly made. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, it came on suddenly.

I am filing this complaint regarding the unavailability of a critical safety component for my vehicle. Multiple dealers have informed me that the part is not available through the Mopar parts chain. However, the identical part is currently available for purchase by consumers through MoparGenuineParts.com (111 Bond Street, Westbury, NY 11590) at the following link: [XXX] ). One verified buyer even confirmed this discrepancy. As [XXX] wrote in his 5-star review dated 04/03/25: *"ABS PART – Fixed my problem just what I needed. Dealership said they could not get to because of part shortage??"* This highlights a troubling inconsistency: Mopar’s authorized dealer network is unable to supply parts that consumers can easily purchase online. It makes no sense that the official supply chain is cut off while direct-to-consumer sales remain active. The component in question is critical to the safe operation of the vehicle. If it fails at high speed, the driver could experience sudden loss of braking or steering control. Such a failure poses an imminent danger of severe accidents, rollovers, or fatalities, both to the vehicle occupants and to others on the roadway. My concern is twofold: (1) why Mopar dealers cannot access parts that clearly exist in Mopar’s system, and (2) how long-term safety is being compromised if consumers must resort to inconsistent third-party availability for essential components. This disconnect directly threatens public safety. I respectfully request NHTSA investigate why Mopar’s dealer network is unable to provide critical safety components, while consumers can obtain the exact same part online, and whether this practice constitutes a systemic safety hazard that warrants recall, investigation, or enforcement action. Here are some key points: 1. The grid heater nut can melt and fall off inside the intake plenum, often due to the grid heater relay sticking "on". Or fall off due to vibration. 2. A bolt in the 2007-2023 RAM 6.7L intake air heater can cause severe engine damage, and a warning code (P2609) may indicate this issue. 3. The grid heater bolt/nut can wear from heat or vibration, potentially dropping into the cylinder and destroying the engine. The risk related to this can be minor to catastrophic. Any potential engine failure during operation could cause damage, fire, injury or death. Upon researching this issue, I found the Internet full of warnings, but yet since 2007 to 2023 no factory solution or recall has been made. A recall has been made for simuliar issue. See attached. As a preventive measure, I am replacing mine with a aftermarket device. Something Ram or Cummins engine should have done since 2007. I have not been in a collision or a engine failure. But I am sure since 2007, someone has. There are two or three aftermarket repairs that the manufacturer should have resolved.

While test driving a 2017 RAM 3500 6.7L Cummins diesel at Cherry Hill Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, both the check engine light and the regen warning light came on simultaneously. I returned to the dealership, looked up the regen warning, then retrieved my BlueDriver OBD2 scanner from my own vehicle. I scanned the truck on-site and ran live data. The scan confirmed the diesel particulate filter (DPF) was 100% full, and the regeneration system was not functioning. Permanent fault code P242F was stored, and the exhaust backpressure reading was over 25 PSI at idle — indicating a severely blocked system. These faults were not disclosed by the dealership, and no inspection or documentation from a diesel technician was available. I later discovered the truck also has an open safety recall (Manufacturer Recall Number: C4B / NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-896) for a potential failure of the Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). This recall involves the loss of ABS, Electronic Stability Control, and Traction Control, and the recall status is listed as incomplete with no remedy available as of the test date. I offered to purchase the truck for $35,000 out-the-door on the condition that the emissions system was repaired and certified. The salesperson spoke with the manager, then returned and told me the vehicle was no longer for sale. I then overheard the manager say they planned to wholesale the vehicle, likely without disclosing these active safety and emissions system failures. I am filing this report to ensure the vehicle is flagged for unresolved safety and emissions violations before it is sold or auctioned in its current condition. I have full diagnostic scan data, photographs, and written communication from the visit available upon request.

I am filing this complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall for the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) on my 2017 Dodge Ram 3500, VIN ending in [XXX] , under Recall Number C4B/NHTSA 24V-896. We received the recall notification months ago and have been waiting ever since for further instructions or a remedy from FCA US LLC. After more than six months, we still have no resolution. Recently, the vehicle was towed to Patterson Dodge in Tyler, TX, where it was inspected by the dealership. They confirmed that there is currently no remedy available for the HCU issue and stated they have no idea when a fix will be provided. This is not just a matter of inconvenience — this is a critical safety concern. FCA's own recall notice clearly states: “The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” We purchased this truck specifically to tow our 5th wheel camper, which we now cannot safely operate due to the safety risk posed by this unresolved recall. Without proper braking and stability control systems, towing a heavy load would be incredibly dangerous, not only to us but to everyone else on the road. We understand that vehicle recalls can take time to resolve. However, it is extremely concerning that: FCA has offered no timeline or remedy after many months. The vehicle remains inoperable for its intended purpose due to the unresolved recall. We were never proactively contacted with updates and had to follow up on our own. The dealership confirmed the part is not only unavailable but with no estimated time of arrival. We respectfully request that NHTSA investigate whether FCA is meeting its obligations under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act to provide a timely and effective recall remedy. A known safety defect has been identified, but the remedy is indefinitely delayed, and the manufacturer is not offering alternative solutions (loaner vehicle, buyback, etc.) while we are left with a vehicle we cannot safely use. Service department at dealership said sometimes moisture will cause this. No codes. Between May and October this problem has become repetitive and has been in the dealership service department multiple times. Codes show only when lights are on. Wheel speed sensor has been replaced (twice), but did not solve problem. Other features affected when these lights are on: 4WD will not engage, cruise control inop, rear collision sensor inoperative. My truck has been in the shop (dealership at Lithia in Anchorage, AK) since 10 Oct. Technician has said it needs ABS module and hydraulic pump, but FCA (or Stellantis who issued service contract) will not release parts (or they are out of parts and won’t admit). Apparently Ram engineers don’t believe service tech and are having him chase an electrical problem and now hub replacement. A quick internet search and it appears thousands of Ram owners (17-18) have dealt with this problem. The mileage is just shy of 110,000 and service contract expires at 125k or Jun 25. As a consumer I’m stuck between Ram engineers, and service department at dealership (currently without vehicle). A heavy duty pickup in Alaska is useless w/o 4WD on the rapidly approaching winter. This is obviously a known problem and needs resolution.

While pulling my trailer on the interstate with cruise control set, I was going up a hill when all of a sudden my engine RPMs skyrocketed and my truck simultaneously lost propulsion. The cruise control system then disabled itself. My truck had slowed down enough that I turned my hazard lights on, and then selected a lower gear due to the decreased speed. While attempting to accelerate back to a normal speed, my trucks RPMs again skyrocketed and my truck simultaneously lost propulsion. I was now fairly certain that my clutch was slipping. I was able to limp the truck back to my shop. I then contacted my dealership asking if this would be covered by the manufacture powertrain warranty, they informed that it was not. I then asked for them to order me a new flywheel, clutch kit, and all other incidental parts. It was at this time the dealer advised that I instead purchase an after-market performance clutch because they had seen very high failure rates from the OEM clutches. Not wanting the risk of using parts not designed by the OEM, I elected to use all OEM replacement parts. Upon installation of the new clutch parts, I discovered the clutch friction material was not even warn down on the slipping clutch. After the repairs, my truck was back to normal until, out of the blue again, the same thing happened with approximately 12,000 miles on the replacement OEM clutch components. Remembering what the dealer said about the high failure rates, I decided to hang onto the original clutch, pressure plate and flywheel incase the want or need to examine it would arise later. My trailer complies with all of the manufactures rated weight capacities. The now slipping replacement OEM clutch has not yet been removed from the truck. I do not want to use after-market replacement parts, however I am now concerned about using the replacement OEM parts due to the unexpected loss of propulsion. Said issues occurred at approximate ODO of 46,800 miles and again at 58,800 miles.

The truck had a recall done on its steering system. The steering part affected is the drag link. The drag link connects to the steering wheel to the tie rod . The recall fix was to weld the drag link jam nuts so they wouldn't come loose and cause a steering loss. Since the recall the vehicle s drag link can't be aligned correctly with the tie rod the drag link is attached to the steering wheel so when the truck is aligned it backs one side out to far to keep the steering wheel straight. This drag link that was recalled is a (safety issue) it's a bad design and causes the vehicle to sway all over the road and if it fails the truck looses all steering and goes where ever it wants to go Wich will cause a horrible accident and harm innocent family's on the highway including my own family it can lead to the death of people in my vehicle and around my vehicle it's a serious safety issue and a horrible recall fix on rams end. I have a appointment at the ram dealership to get new tires on but I don't want the new tires put on until this issue is fixed as the truck needs alignment and this safety issue aka the welded drag link replaced with the correct fix that the new rams have the new style drag link . It's a safety hazard. And innocent people can get hurt by the horrible recall fix. It's in acceptable. And very unsafe it's hard to keep the truck in a straight line on the roads it's all over the place like a drunk driver .

When this occurs, not only are the two mandated important safety systems inoperative, four wheel drive wont engage. I don't use cruise control but hundreds of reports state it also is inoperative. Why is Stellantis and NHTSA dragging their feet on getting this issue resolved and recalled once and for all. Not having Anti Lock Brakes and Stability Control are dangerous. I don't get it.

Abs and traction control lights come on, simultaneously canceling cruise control. Vehicle speed immediately slows, and traffic behind me catches up quickly as it takes a few seconds to react and get the vehicle back up to speed. Also, no abs in wet condition, etc. Bumps in the road cause the system to go out and come back on. It's become such a problem that I've had to pull the fuse for abs, which means no more cruise control. But also activates the red brake warning light. So if another problem comes up, I won't know as the brake light is already on.

Beginning in 2018, the ABS system will stop working intermittently and a number of trouble lights will come on, such as "Service ABS system" and, at the same time the cruise control and 4 wheel drive will stop working. I took it to a dealer while still under warranty and they claimed the ABS system was fine, and they could find no problem with the ABS, which had to be a lie since a code would certainly have shown up. I will go months without a problem then it will start intermittently going out for weeks at a time. This happened once in a snow storm near Denver, CO and I nearly went into the ditch because the 4wd suddenly stopped working. My research shows this is a common and serious problem with the 2017 and 2018 Rams and the manufacturer is well aware of the defective HCU that causes this safety issue. It needs to be repaired in a recall. An OBT scan shows that the ABS control unit intermittently suffers a "complete electrical failure" in the hydraulic control unit of the ABS.

How was my safety and my Wife's at risk, brake failure on a mountain grade could have been bad. Taking it to a Ram Dealer on Tuesday, June 25,2024 in Hanover, PA. The abs control module and pump has been going out for the last 4 years with intermittent alarm every 30-44seconds. Every time I call dodge dealer the part is on back order for 4 years now I finally found a remanufactured one on eBay. This is a serious problem, very unsafe and I have talked to a lot of people with dodge ram trucks 2017-2018 that have the same issues and a couple people that have had bad accidents they believe is because now no traction control. Dodge needs to be held accountable for the parts they put in the truck and for not having a replacement ready to go.

My truck has 22,780 miles on it. This truck is currently in the shop having the Fifth ABS Module, ABS Control and ABS Hydraulic unit. The First time that this occurred was on 11/26/2018, 6,199 miles. I had owned the truck 16 months at this time. The Second time was on 7/6/2020, 11,982 miles (They called it an Axel Actuator this time, but it was the same error message on the dash panel as before). The Third time was on 12/14/2020, 14,930 miles. The dealer waved the deductible charges, this time, since the truck was just out of the regular warranty and this was an ongoing problem. The Fourth time was on 1/19/2024, 21,348 miles. Again, having to use extended warranty and pay the deductible. It's currently in the shop being repaired for the Fifth time for the same problem, 5/6/2024, 22,780 miles, Not even 4 months and less than 1,500 miles since the previous repair. The Dealer also said that the Brake Pedal sensor is bad this time in addition to all of the ABS parts. Once again, having to use extended warranty and pay the deductible. If I count the original ABS Equipment, this will make the Sixth ABS Equipment that has been on my truck. This is a MAJOR Safety issue due to the fact that I pull a 15,000 lb. fifth wheel RV and often times I have to come down mountains after it has failed. The Dealer has said that this an ongoing problem with the Ram 3500 & 2500 trucks. I have never had any vehicle in my entire life that has had an ABS problem, let alone this many times. Something needs to be done to correct this problem BEFORE someone is KILLED!

The contact stated while the vehicle was undergoing DOT inspection, the DOT inspector advised the contact to shift in neutral (N), and to activate and squeeze the brake controller manually. The contact was then advised to shift into drive (D) and to release the brake pedal while squeezing the brake controller. The contact stated that upon following the instructions, the vehicle moved forward. The DOT inspector determined that the brake controller was malfunctioning because the trailer brakes failed to prevent vehicle movement when manually activated. The contact stated that the company's mechanic replaced the 7-way pins, the 7-way pin trailer cable, the 7-way pin wiring harness box, and module, the brake controller assembly, the wiring on the front and rear axles, the brake assemblies; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that when the brake controller was set at the max 10, the brake wire connector displayed 6.5 Volts, while the voltage should be 13.2 Volts. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 162,388.

I purchased a 2017 RAM 3500 in 2018 brand new, directly from a dealer. Within the first week of ownership, truck started alerting me that there is an issue with the automatic brakes and to service the vehicle. I took the truck to my local dealer in October 2018. They confirmed issue was with the ABS system. I was told to take a rental car because it would take some time to get the parts and I wouldn’t be allowed to take my truck because it wouldn’t be safe to drive. The parts came in after some time and the truck was repaired. Almost 24 months later (September 2020), the same ABS alerts began presenting itself. The dealer confirmed that the issue was again the ABS system and I was provided with a rental car until the part was replaced. Again, 24 months later (October 2022), the ABS alerts began to persistently display and make a chime many times over and over while driving. The dealer once again confirmed the ABS was at fault and ordered parts. I was told there were no parts available and to expect several months before the truck could be serviced. This time, the dealer would not provide a rental because the truck was not considered under warranty. Six months passed (March 2023) and the dealer called to report that a part had arrived and to bring the truck for service. The dealer later called and said when the box was opened, the part appeared damaged and could not be used and to wait for another part. I waited another 5 months (August 2023) to call the dealer and ask if any parts would be coming soon. I was told that engineers at RAM recalled all the parts and none are available. I went to the dealer and received a refund for the prepaid part. My truck has had no working ABS system since October 2022. The ABS is always on 100% of the time. This is a safety issue which devalues my vehicle, if I were to try to sell it. It also poses a danger whenever I need to use it. If parts do ever become available, I do not feel I should have to pay $1,000 for the repair.

This issue is related to 2017 Ram 3500 truck with 6.7L Turbo Diesel motor: The warning lights for the ABS and the Cruise Control intermittently activate and there is an audible alarm ding noise along with them. This vehicle has been inspected by Villa Rica Auto. They advised that the problem is with a defective HCU and that part is on back order with no ETA available. This problem first appeared a few days after buying the truck from Gravity Autos Atlanta. This truck was not involved in a crash.
ENGINEFebruary 6, 2024
Truck broke engine while driving in downtown Atlanta, GA towing a trailer. After having a certified diesel mechanic diagnose the problem, it was discovered that the grid heater has malfunctioned causing it to melt a bolt and break off into the engine thus causing a total engine loss. After researching online and speaking with the mechanic, this is apparently a common problem that we were unaware of. Had we been informed, we could have been proactive in preserving the engine. What could have been a pretty cheap fix has turned into a $15-$20k dollar repair job and could’ve ended with us in a wreck had we not been able to exit the road in time. I’m aware that there are no current recalls on this particular VIN. However, I would like for you to investigate the problem further because it could save consumers a lot of money and possibly their life.

The abrupt cancellation of cruise control in traffic is dangerous, especially when towing a trailer. The problem started (for me) just after purchasing the vehicle, used, with 27,428 miles on March 9, 2023. I suspect the pervious owner traded this vehicle on another vehicle because of this problem. I tried to get out of the purchase of this truck because of this problem. Dealer would not allow that without much expense on my end. So, I'm stuck with the problem. It has the potential to be very dangerous. Luckily, I had purchased an extended warranty but the dealer said I needed to wait a month or so before I took the vehicle to a Ram service center so the warranty would be fully established. I purchased the vehicle for pulling purposes and I do that regularly. In the similar cases I have read about, the owners say that the dealers are not helpful and the vehicle has to be kept for long periods of time for evaluation. I have not had time to get it properly diagnosed yet but the problem is exactly like the many others cases I have read about.

I am the second owner of this vehicle. Shortly after purchase (mileage 26,401) the Hydraulic Control Unit (Control for Anti-lock braking system) failed. Dodge dealer installed OEM replacement in March 2022. The same component (Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU)) failed again July 2023. Dodge dealer scheduled service/replacement for August 3, 2023. Upon delivery of vehicle for service I am told Chrysler has blocked dealers from ordering any HCU nor are they to use any current inventory on hand. Chrysler has initiated an "engineering investigation" into these parts and is seeking another manufacturer to supply going forward. Chrysler estimates a part may become available by February 2024. Vehicle is used for towing and has no anti-lock braking system in the mean time. I believe this could pose a safety issue.

My Ram 3500 DRW has about 45000 miles and it now requires the replacement of the hydraulic control unit (HCU) and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) module. I discovered this issue prior to the warning light flashing and sounding when I had to do sudden braking in order to avoid an obstacle in the road encountered during a storm last week. I just barely got my Ram to stop and not swerve off into the ditch as the pumping of the brakes did not stop the truck. The truck just slid as if it did not have ABS capability. I was told by the Ram dealership in Spartanburg SC that these two repair parts are not available due to increased demand due to what the technician said was a "known issue" for the last couple of years. You cannot even order these parts today as the Ram parts system doesn't even allow you to add the parts to your shopping cart. To add insult to injury, the service manager told me that these two repair parts needed to repair my truck will not be available until August 2023! This is my work truck and I do not have another vehicle to use as I wait for these parts to be available. I can continue to drive the truck but will do so at my and my family's risk all the while with the ABS warning message flashing and warning chime sound constantly dinging. Not to mention not having emergency braking capability when it is needed the most.

On December 14th, I was driving my 2017 Ram 3500 with 95,000 miles down the road when I encountered a tree completely blocking the roadway. When I applied the brakes I heard a pop and the brake pedal went the the floor. At this point I had no brakes and was forced to hit the tree. Thankfully it was in a rural area and no one was killed because of the failure. My safety was defiantly put at risk because of this failure. Once stopped I was able to look under the hood and found the top bolt that holds the brake master cylinder to the firewall sheared completely off. This caused the brake master cylinder to fall away from the firewall and disabled all braking functions. I had the vehicle towed to a Ram Dealer and then contacted Ram (Stellantis) for a reason and solution to fix the failure. They sent an engineering analysis associate to look at the the truck finally on the January 9th. They then sent a very generic letter on the 12th stating that they don't believe it is a manufacturing issue. They will give the dealer or myself no further information on what they found, what the cause was, or how the dealer should proceed to fix the problem. The vehicle is still currently sitting at the Ram Dealer and has not been fixed if you would like to inspect it. There were no warning lights, messages, or prior problems associated with this failure. It was a sudden and catastrophic failure of the braking system.

5 of the 8 wheel studs on the left rear tire suddenly sheared off while my husband was driving the vehicle. This occurred without warning and with no provoking event - just driving normally. My husband was able to safely pull over and was not hurt but it could have potentially caused a crash and/or serious bodily harm to him or others on the roadway. I contacted the dealer knowing that a recall had been issued for similar year trucks (we received a recall for this on our Ram 4500) and they rudely told me that there was not a recall on this truck and they would not fix it. I do have a picture and the shears were all fresh suggesting that it occurred all at once. The dealer will not look at it for 30 days so we are making other arrangements to have the repair done but I worry about the other tires. If there are multiple year recalls in RAM trucks of varying models for the same thing that would suggest that this event has occurred from a similar manufacturing defect. Dodge needs to take responsibility and offer a solution before someone else is hurt or killed. I don't care about the money. I care about the lives of the people driving RAM trucks and the manufacturer says it is not on them.

The vehicle had a sudden acceleration problem and the driver ended up in a big crash. The driver is in the hospital with many injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer before, at the beginning of March, because the check engine light was on and the throttle control light on and the truck didn't shift properly and dealer said that he doesn't have a transmission mechanic for about a month. They worked on the recalls and the oil and fuel filters change. Afterwards I took the truck to another shop. They changed the oil at the transmission, but the truck showed the same messages on the cluster almost immediately. I took the truck to another mechanic and they changed the solenoids in the transmission, but in a short time the same messages (Check engine light and throttle control light) came on the cluster. When these light came on the truck didn't shift properly so I spoke with another mechanic about the problem and he programmed me for an appointment on August 4th. This date is too late now, because on July 25th I lost the truck in a terrible accident due to sudden acceleration of the truck and the driver could not stop it. The brakes failed and he tried to slow it down driving it against the concrete curve but he couldn't, the truck kept on speeding then he hit a big tree in order not to crash other cars on the road or the people in the driveway close to the place of the accident.

I been waiting at dealership for over 3 hours and they still have not even looked at it. The dealership is not prioritizing my vehicle, although it should since I am a customer after all and this is a recall from the manufacturer. Dealerships should be made aware that a vehicle should be fixed as they come in, not based on whether you are paying or not. This dealership always does this when warranty or recalls and it's frustrating. It's not fair for us to lose this much time because we are not paying. How is it my fault the vehicle is defective? After all it was not caused because of my driving but because it was not manufactured correctly. I like Ram but the dealership need to better understand the customer whether paying or not. AFTER THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE I CHECKED ALL OF THE FLUID LEVELS AND FOUND THAT THE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR FOR THE CLUTCH CONTROL ASSEMBLY WAS LOW ON FLUID. I'VE HAD TO REFILL THIS RESERVOIR SEVERAL TIMES NOW, WHICH HELPS THE ISSUE OF CHANGING GEARS HOWEVER THE FLUID STILL SEEMS TO BE LEAKING OUT FROM SOMEWHERE, AND I'M CONCERNED THAT IT IS LEAKING SOMEWHERE INTERNALLY IN THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH AREA.

MY RAM 3500 2017 LOST SHIFTING IN AN INTERSECTION. IT WAS TOWED TO HERMISTON CHRYSLER IN OREGON 9/21/2020. THEY SAY WARRANTY REQUIRES THEM TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. AT NO TIME DID I RECEIVE AN AUDIBLE OR VISUAL ALARM FROM THE TRUCK. LATER I HAD THE NEARBY DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATE THIS, AND THEY REPORTED THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED, BUT THEY CAN'T/WON'T SHOW ME IN WRITING WHEN THE ALARMS ARE SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE. I HAVE AN OPEN CASE WITH RAM CUSTOMER CARE, BUT THE MANAGER CONTINUES TO POINT TOWARDS THE DEALERSHIP'S VERBAL ANSWER. ANOTHER PERSON I KNOW WAS RECENTLY DRIVING TOWING A HEAVY RIG WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER POINTED OUT TO THEM THAT THEY HAD A FLAT TIRE ON THE TRUCK. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY WARNING FROM THE TPMS. AS YOU KNOW, THE RISK OF A TIRE OVERHEATING AND BLOWING IS WHAT TPMS IS SUPPOSED TO HELP DRIVERS AVOID. A TPMS THAT IS NOT WARNING DRIVERS AFTER ABOUT 10-20% LOSS OF PRESSURE IS CREATING A RISK FOR OPERATORS AND OTHER VEHICLES AND PASSENGERS.

MY VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO A RECALL FOR THE STEERING DRAG LINK ASSEMBLY. THE RECALL STATES THE ASSEMBLY WILL BE INSPECTED AND WELDED AS THE REPAIR. THERE IS A REPLACEMENT PART LISTED ON THE RECALL HOWEVER DEALERS ARE NOT INSTALLING THE REVISED PART. I CONTACTED FCA (CHRYSLER) CORPORATE OFFICE ABOUT THE SAFETY CONCERN WITH WELDING STEERING COMPONENTS. MY CONTACT WAS TO RECEIVE THE REVISED STEERING DRAG LINK SINCE NO CREDIBLE AUTOMOTIVE AUTOMOTIVE SOURCE APPROVES OF WELDING STEERING COMPONENTS AND THAT BEYOND THE SAFETY ISSUE THE PART IS NO LONGER ADJUSTABLE OR FUNCTIONAL TO ADJUST DURING ROUTINE FRONT END ALIGNMENTS AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE RESPONSE FROM THE EXECUTIVE REFERRALS MANAGER WAS THAT I HAD ONE CHOICE AND THAT WAS TO BRING MY TRUCK TO A DEALER FOR THE STATED RECALL REPAIR AND THAT WELDING THE DRAG LINK WAS APPROVED BY THEIR ENGINEERS. I STATED THAT THE REPAIR WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND THAT I WOULD PAY FOR THE REVISED PART AND THE INSTALLATION THROUGH THE DEALER EVEN THOUGH MY TRUCK IS STILL COVERED BY THE ORIGINAL BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. I WAS INFORMED THAT NEITHER THE REPLACEMENT PART OR ANY OTHER CHRYSLER/MOPAR PART IS AVAILABLE FOR THE CONSUMER AND THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME IN HAVING THE DEALER INSTALL THE REVISED PART AT MY COST. I ASKED WHAT IF I HAVE A AFTERMARKET DRAG LINK INSTALLED. I WAS TOLD THE RECALL WOULD NOT BE CLEARED ON MY VEHICLE, I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FOR ANY DEFECTS IN THE STEERING COMPONENTS, AND THAT FCA WOULD BE ABSOLVED OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY. ITS NO SECRET THAT FCA IS RATED LOWEST OF ANY MANUFACTURE IN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, HOWEVER THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE NEARLY ONE MILLION RECALLED VEHICLES. THE TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND FCA IS WORRIED ABOUT COST NOT SAFETY. FCA HAS GIVEN THE OWNERS NO OPTION BY REFUSING TO PROVIDE UPDATED PARTS AND FORBIDDING THE INSTALLATION OF AFTERMARKET PARTS.

IT WAS LIKE I HAD THE DEATH WOBBLE NO MATTER WHAT SPEED. THESE ARE DANGEROUS TIRES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. HOWEVER I AM NOT WAITING WITH THIS SAFETY ALL TIRES ARE BEING REPLACED. BOTH TIMES DURING SEPARATION I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

I BELIEVE RECALLS SHOULD NOT DAMAGE A VEHICLE , BUT RETURN IT AS FUNCTIONAL AS INTENDED.

I TAPPED MY FOOT ON THE BREAK TO SHUT MY CRUISE CONTROL OFF LIKE I NORMALLY DO AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE THROTTLE TO CONTROL THE ACCELERATION TO THE LIGHT. I REALIZE I WASN'T SLOWING DOWN PROPERLY AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND STOOD BOTH FEET ON THE BREAK TO TRY TO STOP TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I ENDED UP HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME EVEN WITH THE TRUCK AND TRAILER BRAKES APPLIED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF IN EITHER VEHICLE. EVERYTHING WENT SO QUICKLY, DIDN'T KNOW WHY THE TRUCK DIDN'T WANT TO SLOW DOWN. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK OR MY 2018 TRUCK. VERY SLOW TO RESPOND THROTTLE PEDAL, ITS TO A POINT OF NOT SAFE TO PULLOUT IN TRAFFIC OR MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY. THERE IS 2-4 SECONDS OF IDLE WHILE PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR, THEN THE ENGINE WILL START TO INCREASE RPM AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION WILL SEEM TO BE IN NEUTRAL AT TIMES WHEN TURNING INTO AN ELEVATED PARKING LOT OR DRIVEWAY. APPLY MORE THROTTLE AND CLUNKS BACK INTO GEAR THEN WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD. AT TIMES COMING TO A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION WILL STAY IN A HIGHER GEAR OR THE LOCKUP CONVERTER IS STAYING LOCKED UP. TRYING TO STOP WITH TYPICAL BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WILL NOT STOP THE TRUCK WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. YOU REALLY NEED TO APPLY PEDAL PRESSURE UNTIL IT COMPLETELY STOPS ROLLING THEN IT SEEMS TO RESET OR GO BACK TO NORMAL. RAM DEALERS CLAIM ITS CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRUCK AND THEY SAY THAT RAM STAR SAYS ITS NORMAL. A LITTLE RESEARCH ONLINE AND YOU WILL FIND THIS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE. 2017 RAM PROMASTER 3500 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS ON ITS OWN COMING DOWN MOUNTAIN GRADES AND FORCES YOU TO STOP ON THE SHOULDER BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO DOWNSHIFT ON ITS OWN. ONCE YOU ARE STOPPED AND IN FIRST GEAR YOU MAY CONTINUE DOWN THE MOUNTAIN TILL ITS DOES IT AGAIN ALL THE WHILE OTHER AUTOMOBILES AND SEMIS ARE PASSING YOU AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED. YOU MUST COME DOWN A MOUNTAIN IN NEUTRAL. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE DOWNSHIFTING AND THE RPMS SHOOT UP TO 4000 RPMS, IS TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL OR STOP AND START OVER AGAIN. IN SNOW AND ICE ON STEEP GRADES THIS MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL AND SLIDE OFF THE CLIFF. WHEN THE VEHICLE FEELS THE PUSH OF ITS OWN WEIGHT AND BEGINS TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN DOWN AN INCLINE IT MAY DOWNSHIFT ON ITS OWN OR TAPPING THE BRAKE WILL MAKE IT GO INTO THIS CONDITION. THEREFORE THERE IS NO BRAKING COMING DOWN A MOUNTAIN.

I HAVE A RAM 3500 SINGLE REAR WHEEL TRUCK WITH INTEGRATED BRAKE CONTROLLER. IT WAS HOOKED UP TO MY 10,000# GVW 5TH WHEEL TRAILER THIS PAST WEEKEND AND NO MATTER HOW I SET THE CONTROLLER, FOR EITHER BRAKING STRENGTH OR TRAILER SELECTION TYPE, IT PROVIDES IMPERCEPTIBLE BRAKING TO THE TRAILER. IT NEARLY PUSHED ME RIGHT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT 25 MPH BECAUSE THERE WAS NO BRAKING. THIS OCCURRED ON A 35 MPH LEVEL GRADE AND I WAS SLOWED AT THE TIME FOR AN APPROACHING RED LIGHT. TRUCK IS RATED TO TOW MUCH MORE. I DISCONNECTED FACTORY UNIT AND PUT IN AN AFTERMARKET AND IT WORKED EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD, WHICH SHOULD RULE OUT BOTH THE TRAILER AND TRUCK WIRING AS IT USES THE SAME WITH JUST AN PLUG SWITCHED FROM INTERNAL BRAKE CONTROLLER TO AFTERMARKET.. I HAVE SEEN MANY POSTINGS ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS FCA HAS A STAR CASE ON THIS AS WELL #S1508000014. I FEEL THIS CAN PUT ANY DRIVER IN A VERY BAD OR DEADLY SITUATION VERY QUICKLY. I HAD BOTH A 2010 AND A 2012 RAM 3500 TRUCKS WITH THE SAME CONTROLLER AND TOWING THE SAME TRAILERS AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES AT ALL.
