When my battery range falls below ~125 miles, I have extreme range fluctuations especially at freeway speeds with any hills. Because I drive over a mountain range to commute to work, I can't safely drive the car. This is a known issue related to the recall from 2024 that has not been fixed. When I first encountered the issue in December 2025, I did not know about the recall. I took it to the Nissan dealer (Stevens Creek Nissan) and they did not tell me that there was a recall on the battery and that I shouldn't fast charge. At the time, I was fast charging to get the range safely above 120 miles so that I could make it home without complete battery failure.

I have been waiting since September 2024 to use my level 3 charger port again. I can't safely use it without a risk of fire severely limiting the cars use and range. On top of this my main battery was tested at the Nissan Dealer November 2025 and needs replaced under warranty. It will rapidly lose charge when on the highway potentially leaving me stranded on the side of a busy road. I only have about 30% usable battery and cant Level 3 charge without risk of fire. I have been waiting almost 2 years now and feel Nissan has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for both repairs. This is my only car and I cant continue driving it like this. I was informed of the charging issue by recall notice and started seeing the battery issue Summer 2025. If they ever do fix this, I'm going to have a hard time trusting driving it on the highway. Nissan still can't give me an ETA for the replacement battery. I've been waiting 6 months and counting now.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where a first-phase software update was performed as an interim repair, and the contact was advised to use quick charging after driving the vehicle for a limited amount of time. The contact followed the dealer's instructions and returned to the dealer, and was provided a gift card. The contact used the Level 3 quick charging after the repair. The contact later received a message not to use the Level 3 quick charging feature. The contact was confused and contacted the manufacturer, who was unable to confirm whether the interim recall repair was performed. Upon contacting the NHTSA Hotline, the contact was informed that the VIN was still under recall and that the remedy was not yet available. As of today, I got another notice saying that no fix is available yet; they are working on it. This is ridiculous and it has limited the use of my car and has affected the resale value.

Nissan has failed to provide a repair in a reasonable timeframe for recall 24V-700. It was issues in September 2024, with a remedy expected by Nov 2024 per Nissan. As of March 2026, no remedy is available. The recall instructs to not use level 3 charging indefinitely, which substantially impairs the vehicles functionality. Nissan is attempting to buyback the vehicle under Kansas lemon law rather than fix the defect, and the offer is inadequate per Kansas Lemon Law.

This vehicle is subject to Safety Recall 24V-700 (Manufacturer Recall R24B2) due to a defect in the lithium-ion battery that can cause a fire during Level 3 DC Fast Charging. Since the initial notice, I have received four separate recall communications from the manufacturer, yet as of March 2026, no permanent remedy has been provided. The manufacturer’s only "interim" solution is an instruction to refrain from using the Level 3 DC Fast Charging (CHAdeMO) feature. This has effectively disabled a primary advertised function of the vehicle and creates a substantial safety risk should the port be used. This defect has rendered the vehicle unsellable on the secondary market and significantly impairs its daily utility, as I am unable to use charging infrastructure at my place of employment. The manufacturer continues to delay the final remedy with "coming soon" notifications, leaving me with an unsafe and substantially devalued asset for over a year.

Nissan issued a recall on the ev battery in September 2024 because risk of fire if the quick charge feature is used but has failed to remedy the problem as of March 2026 and only says maybe the solution will come in this calendar year. This is unacceptable to cripple the full use of a vehicle. It takes all day to fully charge the car by slow charge compared to one hour in quick charge. Not fixing this problem risks people quick charging vehicles despite the risk.

I lost propulsion on the highway and it was dangerous. Going at a much lower speed than traffic it was difficult to work my way over to the right emergency lane. Even though my battery had recovered back to 25% after I stopped, the accelerator pedal would not move the car.

In December 2025 my EV battery level began fluctuating wildly while driving, even going to zero while driving on an interstate. I took it to my local dealer on 12/29/2026. Nissan confirmed that the EV battery was failing and recommended replacement. The battery is still under warranty. Nissan ordered the battery on January 6, 2026. It is now March 5th, and the battery has not shipped. Nissan has not provided any timeline for shipment of the battery and says they will not provide that information. My car has been undriveable for nine weeks.

Nissan has advised owners not to use fast charging due to a risk of battery overheating and potential fire. Despite the recall being open for an extended period, Nissan has not provided a completed remedy for my vehicle. My local Nissan dealer has informed me that no repair or software update is currently available, and Nissan has not provided a definitive timeline for resolution. As a result: • A core advertised feature of the vehicle (DC fast charging) is unusable • The vehicle’s utility and value are significantly impaired • The recall remains open with no practical path to completion I am concerned that Nissan’s prolonged inability to remedy this safety defect leaves owners with an unsafe or materially compromised vehicle for an unreasonable length of time. The high-voltage battery on my 2020 Nissan Leaf is subject to Recall 25V655. The recall notice states that the battery cells can develop excessive lithium deposits, which increases electrical resistance and can cause rapid battery heating during Level 3 fast charging. Nissan instructs owners not to use Level 3 charging at all until a “remedy” is available. The issue is that the remedy described by Nissan is not an actual repair of the battery defect. Nissan states it will install software that monitors for “state-of-charge fluctuation” and, if detected, will prevent the vehicle from restarting or recharging in order to avoid a thermal incident. This means the defect inside the battery cells is still present, and the car may disable itself if the defect begins to appear. The recall materials also state there is no warning before overheating occurs. This creates multiple safety concerns: • The underlying battery defect remains uncorrected. • The vehicle can become immobilized (unable to restart or recharge) if the software detects the condition. • Loss of Level 3 charging capability affects the ability to travel safely or plan charging when needed. • A battery fire risk exists during Level 3 charging if the defect is not detected in time. Nissan’s documents state that the software is meant only to prevent the “progression” of a thermal incident, not to repair the defective battery. I am concerned that my vehicle contains a known hazardous defect that has not been physically repaired and that the software-only response is inadequate to ensure safety. I am filing this complaint so NHTSA is aware that the remedy being offered does not address the internal battery defect itself and may leave owners exposed to continued safety and reliability risks.

The reverse camera is consistently not connected and shows a pink, gray, or distorted image when in reverse. A few months ago, it would intermittently do this and then resolve itself. I mentioned this at the Nissan service center during our maintenance check up and because it couldn't be replicated, they would charge me just to complete a diagnostic report. I declined especially since it fixed itself. For the last several weeks, it hasn't been functioning correctly which makes seeing my surroundings less safe. I've reviewed [XXX] and see that other Nissan Leafs in our date range require repair, but the recall is not listed for our vin number. I'm worried about our safety due to the failure of the reverse camera and would like support in a resolution as we no longer have the vehicle under warranty. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact was informed that the recall repair was performed, and the vehicle was safe to drive. However, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, and the contact was requested to pay for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was inoperable. The contact was informed by the tow truck driver of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V700000 (Electrical System); however, parts were not available. The contact stated that due to the vehicle being inoperable, the contact had to pay for Uber to transport her children to and from school. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

On November 5, 2025 our 2020 Nissan LEAF (42,701 miles) experienced rapid loss of battery capacity under normal driving/temperatures (80F.) Vehicle defaulted to "turtle mode" temporarily, an unsafe condition. Were able to replicate condition on subsequent days. Took vehicle to Cedar Park Nissan for evaluation. Technicians concluded that the traction battery had one or more defective cells and recommended battery pack replacement. Vehicle is inoperable. Started complaint with Nissan customer assistance. Dealer and Nissan refused use of a loaner vehicle, despite offering no timeline on repairing/replacing the battery pack. The defect in our vehicle's battery cells may lie in the battery chemistry and be related to issues associated with damage from DC fast charging (recall 24V-700.) Our vehicle has seen little or no fast charging, being charged mostly on Level 1 or Level 2.

In fall 2024 we noticed our Nissan Leaf starting to no longer be able to hold a charge. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to this problem. It would go from fully charged to zero with no warning (including when driving on the highway) and would stop accelerating above 35mph. This was stressful and unsafe. It took 5+ months to "repair" the battery at the dealership, only to have the same issue occur again a few months later. This time the dealership "fixed" the issue in a little over a month, only for us to drive it home and immediately have the issue occur again (on a busy highway - thankfully no one in my family was injured or killed). The car is currently at the dealership for a third time. Combine this issue with an active recall on the charging system for over a year with no known fix, this vehicle no longer feels safe for my family. The car battery is still well within it's warranty period. I do not feel safe driving this car any longer and have experienced dangerous situations three times in this vehicle in the past year (for myself, my family, and potentially others on the road). I do not trust any "fixes" by the dealership at this point - as we've been assured it has been fixed twice now only to find out it has not. Nissan acknowledges there is an issue, and I have copies of all the service records.

Nissan initiated a recall for its stage three fast charging (R24B2). This was initiated in September 2024, with an initial completion date of November 2024. It was updated after that deadline passed to March 2025. As of today there is still no solution to the issue. This severely limits the use of the vehicle since it cannot be fast charged Nissan has failed to remedy the issue after multiple times going to a dealer. Nissan also will not offer any sort of compensation or other solution to the issue i.e. car rental, which was positioned. My last attempt to contact Was on 9/25 in which I spoke with a regional Nissan, customer relations manager, who stated that there was nothing they could do until a resolution is reached.

I am submitting this complaint due to Nissan's lack of action on a critical safety recall that has remained open without a remedy for over a year (NHTSA Recall Number 24V-700 / Nissan Recall Number R24B2). The recall involves a manufacturing defect in the high-voltage battery that can cause overheating and fire during DC fast charging. This is a severe safety risk, not only to owners but also to nearby vehicles and property at charging stations. Nissan’s only response has been to tell owners not to use DC fast charging, which was inadequate as a temporary measure and unacceptable as a long-term solution. Without access to DC fast charging, vehicle usability is severely compromised. Daily commuting is difficult, and long-distance travel is nearly impossible. Level 1 and 2 charging do not provide practical alternatives, and many owners rely on DC fast charging as their only feasible option. This feature is a basic expectation of modern EV ownership, and had I known I would lose it indefinitely, I would never have purchased this vehicle. After a full year, Nissan has provided no remedy, no timeline, and no meaningful communication. Even if a fix were announced today, implementation would take additional weeks or months. This is not a timely response to a major safety and usability issue. As an affected owner, I expect one of the following: (1) Nissan issues and implements a permanent fix within 30 days, (2) provides a free loaner vehicle until a remedy is available, or (3) repurchases the defective vehicles from me and other affected owners. Continuing with no action is unacceptable. As a repeat Nissan customer, this experience has been deeply disappointing and has caused me to lose confidence in the brand.

Note: Searching for similar complaints I found them under "Engine", "Electrical", and "Fuel". There are many such complaints! My 2020 Nissan Leaf has been under a recall notice since September of 2024 (12 months ago). Nissan warned the battery may catch fire during level 3 (rapid) charging. Nissan ordered owners not to use rapid chargers until a fix was in place. Such a fix was (and still is) promised by March 2025. That date is 6 months past now and yet their website still proclaims it. This, to me, demonstrates that Nissan is not actively working on the problem. They seem content to have shifted the burden of dealing with the problem onto their customers. Rapid charging is not a luxury, especially with large capacity batteries. Fully charging the car in 2-3 hours instead of 10-12 hours is a key selling point of the vehicle. To remove it amounts to a bait and switch. One year is an extremely generous amount time to allow for a solution. Obviously, they want a software solition to avoid the high cost of replacing the batteries. Obviously, they can't find a software solution. It is time for them to be forced to accept the higher cost consequence of releasing a faulty product. P.S. During a phone conversation with Nissan customer service in late July, I was told (after many denials that anything was wrong with them proclaiming a fix in March 2025 in July 2025) that a fix would be available in November. As their site still says March 2025 I must assume that was a blatant lie to pacify me.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding an unresolved safety recall affecting my 2020 Nissan Leaf, currently with approximately 30,000 miles. The recall in question addresses a battery overheating risk associated with Level 3 fast charging (CHAdeMO), which Nissan has acknowledged and advised owners to avoid until a solution becomes available—scheduled for November 2024. I have contacted my local dealership, Flow Nissan of Fayetteville (4559 Raeford Rd, Fayetteville NC, 28304 - Tel: 910-323-4400), multiple times requesting assistance during this period. Unfortunately, the service department informed me that no temporary solution or loaner vehicle could be provided, stating that Nissan National has yet to authorize support. As a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, this situation poses a serious hardship. My duty station is located approximately 90 minutes from my residence, and I am required to report three times per month. The inability to reliably and safely operate my vehicle places not only my personal safety at risk due to the recall restrictions but also jeopardizes my ability to fulfill military obligations. Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2019-2020 LEAF vehicles equipped with a Level 3 quick charging port. The lithium-ion battery may overheat during Level 3 charging. Owners are advised not to use Level 3 quick charging until the remedy is completed. This recall was issued September 2024 and our family had just moved to an apartment building with no access to plug in vehicle to a regular outlet for Level 1 charging as per the guidance. This has caused a significant financial burden to our family of 5 -- we purchased this vehicle as a secondary form of transportation but we have been limited to its usage for nearly a year. Nissan continues to push the remedy timeline -- first it was March then "Spring" and now "Summer" -- we have submitted multiple inquiries and complaints through Nissan Customer Service and they have not made any effort in mediating a positive outcome for us -- meanwhile, we are paying monthly for the car loan, car insurance, and a parking space up to $600 -- currently at $6,600 cost to us with no real access to drive our vehicle as much as we can due to this charging limitation. This among many other recalls on this vehicle has not been addressed as required -- we have even asked Nissan to just buy this vehicle back to cover the loan balance but they refused and demanded that we just want for a repair in the future.

This vehicle has had a recall for 9 months, and I was told by one Nissan North America Consumer Affairs rep via text on 7/2/2025 that a remedy has been identified and that it would be deployed in third quarter of 2025. I initiated a formal complaint with Nissan on 7/2/2025 and today the Consumer Affair rep called me and told me there is not remedy. Nissan will not buy-back or replace these vehicle and that we should go to the dealership when a remedy becomes available. I tried the NYS Lemon Law but it does not cover recalls and the vehicle is now too old. This is ridiculous that for 9 months we have been unable to use the vehicle as intended and have has to rent vehicle because we are unable to drive this vehicle as intended.

On Monday, I was departing from the supermarket parking lot. As I was waiting at the stop sign to exit the parking lot, my 2020 Nissan Leaf SV vehicle shuttered and there was a blinking notification on the dashboard stating: TM System Malfunction EPedal Failure Suddenly my ability to stop the vehicle was compromised. I turned onto the surface street and continued to pump the brakes with no response. I turned back into the supermarket parking lot and continued to pump the brakes but there was no engagement. I slowly drove around the parking lot trying to stop with no success. I eventually had to turn on the emergency brake and then force the vehicle into park. It was a very scary scenario. I called the dealership to explain the situation and the service advisor suggested that I have the vehicle towed to the dealership for a diagnostic evaluation. After sitting in the car for 30 minutes with it turned off, I turned it back on and drove the vehicle on surface streets to the dealership with no breaking incident. The next day, the service department performed a diagnostic inspection and determined that the 12 volt battery was the cause and needed to be replaced. I was relieved that this was the issue. The technician kept the vehicle one more day to drive it and be sure it was operational. In the end, I purchased a new battery. I am writing your organization to report this incident to try to avoid any injuries or deaths in the future. This incident happened to me without any warning and could have been very dangerous if I was at a busy intersection or on the freeway. There was no warning on the dashboard about the battery or maintenance warning to see the dealer. This needs to researched with Nissan Motor Company. While attempting to drive on icy pavement and “rocking” the vehicle forward and back, the motor accelerates uncontrolled without pressing the accelerator and would not stop when the brake pedal was pressed and released. Nissan has delayed the fire-safety fix for the 2020 LEAF's (CHATdeMO) direct current charging defect. The recall was listed in September 2024 and it was supposed to be available in 2024. However, the fix is delayed until March 2025. As a result of this delay, I am unable to use the vehicle as intended, since direct current fast charging is prohibited. This is causing me great inconvenience. Can NHTSA demand Nissan ready this important safety fix in a timely fashion? Waiting six months for a recall that will likely only involve software modification is unacceptable! Please take action!

The defrost in my Nissan Leaf with does not function at all when the temperature is below around 10 degrees Fahrenheit. I found this out by having my windshield rapidly frost over while driving down the highway at over 65 MPH, almost causing a multi-vehicle accident because I could not see out of any of my windows. When I departed for my trip the vehicle had defrost functionality, but the ambient temperature must have dropped during my trip to the point where I can only assume the heat pump became disabled by the vehicle control systems, leaving only the Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater to supply defrost functionality. I assume that my PTC heater is somehow inoperative and thus resulted in the rapid frosting without any warning or indication to the driver. I see this as a critical safety concern as it affects vehicle visibility and defrost performance to where the vehicle no longer meets FMVSS Standard 103. Driving in ambient temperatures around the point at which the heat pump becomes disabled can cause rapid frosting of the vehicle windows with zero warning or indication of the defrost functionality being compromised. Since it only happens in extreme cold, I assume the issue is related to the Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater that is supposed to kick in when the vehicles heat pump becomes ineffective below a specific ambient temperature. I tried the process outlined in NTHSA recall 22V-048, but it still does not supply any defrost functionality. Conducting a quick internet search has resulted in numerous other Leaf owners experiencing similar issues with their loss of defrost functionality and vehicle heat in extreme cold ambient temperatures. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a dealer or the manufacturer. I was lucky and did not get into an accident, but other owners of this vehicle may not be so lucky. I feel that Nissan is hiding a known defect here since there was already a recall related to Defrost performance.

My Nissan Leaf high voltage battery has experienced excessive heating due to normal use of the level 3 chargers. Recently the battery tripped a fault sensor due to the expansion of battery cells due to excessive heating, and the vehicle is no longer drivable. They recommend replacing the battery, but refuse to help with the repairs because the vehicle is 3000 miles over the battery warranty. With the latest recall I believe this is unacceptable, and Nissan isn't even sure they can get a replacement battery. Please help.

Hello. I have a 20/20 Nissan Leaf SV Plus. This morning I had a total brake failure for lack of a better term. The E-Pedal system, which I always use, suddenly failed while I was driving, showing a warning on screen that said E-Pedal system malfunction... Please use pedal to break. When I went to use the pedal to break nothing happened except for this horrible sound and feel in the pedal. It barely just finally grabbed a little bit enough to stop before I hit the car ahead of me. But it was nothing short of a total brake failure, both E-Pedal and manual pedal. Extremely distressing. What I want to know is how on earth when the E-Pedal fails, the normal manual brake pedal doesn't work either. One thing to note, I let it sit almost all day while I was at work, went out and tried it, and it suddenly was working. I drove around the parking lot, turned it off...back on ..and then The E-Pedal warning came up again. I then went and purchased a 12 volt battery, as I read in some forums that it's possibly due to that. That also did nothing. Got the same E-pedal malfunction. The main reason I'm letting your agency know, is because I would consider this a total break failure, and completely unacceptable. By sheer luck I was only going about 5 mph when it first happened, and I could still barely break in time. Any help on the Federal level...would be great. Thank you so much for your time.

I have previously had an issue with low resistance of the high voltage battery. This resulted in the car giving a warning code that prevents the restart of the vehicle once it's turned off. This is itself potentially leaves a driver in an unsafe location if they are in an isolated place since you are also unable to charge. I took it to the dealer multiple times and it took them almost a month to determine the vehicle did have an issue, that it needed 8 modules out of around 24 total replaced. These modules were replaced and the vehicle was returned to me. In spite of this the vehicle when under 50% capacity still exhibits erratic range and capacity readouts when under heavy load. The vehicle has been returned to the dealer and is under investigation again because it is unsafe to drive in this condition. There is currently an outstanding recall for high internal resistance when dc charging. This is the same resistance the battery has at all times so to assume it will only be a charging issue and not discharging is disingenuous. Any time a high load, either going into or out of, the battery a high internal resistance will lead to a cascading failure. The only repair is either replacement or the battery or derating the battery. The latter would vastly decrease the capabilities of the vehicle.

Approximately 20% of the time this vehicle is driven, the backup camera displays BLANK. A short term remedy has been to put the vehicle back in Park, exit the vehicle and apply a firm "smack" near the backup camera located on the rear hatch using a closed fist. This tends to temporarily solve the symptom of a BLANK backup camera output until inevitably the same thing happens again several days later during a subsequent drive. This is an active recall, this vehicle has been demonstrating this symptom for at least a year if not more, but even though the recall notice was received around February 2024, there is still no solution posted for us to seek repairs at the Nissan dealer.

My back up camera is having issue, like becoming dark, multicolored and pink. It is not safe to back up especially when it rains. I purchased this car two months ago (December, 2023) and this problem started a month ago, sometimes it works fine but mostly is not working. I contacted the Nissan dealer I purchsed from but they did not confirmed the issue and I know a lot of people (in Facebook group) who has the same issue with their Nissan Leaf even with new 2023 models, mine is 2020. When I called the dealer to inspect they are charging me $130 just to inspect. It's 25,000 miles on this car, this is pretty new car. Thank you!

About 3 months ago, I took this car in after receiving a recall notice for unexpected acceleration while on adaptive cruise control even though this was an issue I had never experienced before. But on monday, driving in stop and go traffic in light rain (intermittent wipers on slow setting), all of a sudden the car started accelerating directly towards the car 20 feet or so in front of us; the brakes had to be manually slammed on to bring the car to stop with now only 2-3 feet or so between the two cars. This was very alarming. When I spoke to the dealership about them needing to fix this safety issue and how I thought it must be related to the recall, they said it could not be given it first happened 3 months later and I would have to pay for an evaluation and if they found anything wrong for the repair. I am reporting this and would like to know if other Nissan Leafs are seeing the same issue post-recall repair. I will say it doesn't happen all the time since I like and use adaptive cruise control regularly. I carefully tried it after this event but with much more distance between me and the car in front and it did slow the car down as it normally does when traffic slowed, but again, I never got as close to the car as this time and it was not raining so who knows. I have reported this to Nissan corporate and was told someone would call me back in the next few days.

I was driving on Interstate Highway H-3, uphill at 55 mph, when the % charge on the high-voltage battery instantaneously dropped from 18 to 5%. The warning light also came on. I was not using the A/C at the time. Over the next 30 seconds or so, the gauge quickly went from 5...4...3...2....1. By dumb luck, as the gauge hit 1%, I hit peak elevation on the mountain pass, and was able to coast in neutral until the freeway starts going downhill. Normally, an 18% charge would have been more than enough to comfortable complete my trip home from where I was on H-3 at the time. A sudden drop in battery % could lead to a cutoff of the motor, which at high-speed on a highway could cause a serious accident. I have subsequently done a battery health test and found the State of Health rating to be 90%. There don't appear to be any bad cells in the battery that would explain the sudden drop while driving. My hunch is that this problem is related to the firmware update I received at the Nissan dealer to address NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V494000.

backup camera was intermittently not working. Dealer tested and found "rear camera image signal test at the avm connector 20-19, and the signal is not normal". Code U111A-00 was found. Camera was replaced under extended warranty with $100 deductible, code was cleared and camera is now working. Vehicle has been in service for 2.5yrs and has 40k miles. I've seen several Nissan backup Camera recalls, but my vehicle was apparently not included? Submitting in case others are experiencing and a recall might be needed?

1. Unexpected acceleration, AC power, Computer dash controls, and Computer programming for GPS coordinates for charging stations out of date and or tampered with (status was "out of range" and did not match range number on the odometer. Computer Programming for charge stations is a dynamic feature when it works right. Its a component of the vehicle to be able to operate and get people to where they need to go, and it was malfunctioning on a recent road trip and gave me bad intel, etc. Again, the intel did not match the instrument panel located under the steering column. 2. This vehicle has been serviced with a software update that was supposed to correct the Issues. It did not work. 3. Nissan put the situation back in my lap and asked me to drive them around (three times now to "replicate")?! I did on the second or third visit, and could not get the unexpected acceleration to replicate during that 45 minute drive. The other issues they have completely dismissed. Please note: These issues have been well documented by your website and EV Insiders (see recalls), and by ME (the consumer and purchaser of that car). 4. The chief network architects for Nissan according to LinkedIn are: Juan Valdez Cybersecurity and network architect, Shane Callahan CISO, and or Arnold Hahamyan Cheif Enterprise Architect (Nissan Americas). Can someone reach out to these guys to see what is chiefly responsible for the flaw in their gateway/software. And why a 2020 Leaf why the programing to find charging station is flawed and or corrupted? 5. Last, since whatever software change occurred and or cyber attack (assuming), Emode is the safest way to drive the car, economy drive has had the problem with unexpected acceleration. Note: Car sped up after taking foot off accelerator and between foot pedal breaking, this occurred coming up to Red lights, parking, car wash, etc. 6. Theres something wrong with the cruise control too, and it does not always work right.

Nissan claims that a previous recall for Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, Rear Visibility could be fixed with a system update (recall 20V412000). This does not appear to be the case. I had the system update run already in December 2022 and it didn't fix the problem. The rear backup camera still goes pink and is not visible. I believe this is a hardware issue and should be fixed because it is a major safety problem.

The backup camera of my 2020 Nissan Leaf does not consistently work. Often, the screen is bright pink and does not show the view of behind the vehicle. Clearly, it is a safety issue to have a malfunctioning backup camera. I am getting it serviced by a Nissan dealer next week. The failure seems to be related to opening and shutting the rear hatch, because sometimes the camera would work and sometimes it failed. It is consistently broken now.

How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Possible injuries from abrupt braking; possible and likely rear-end collision if drivers behind me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. I have not contacted Nissan. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. I have not contacted any gov agency or insurance carrier. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. I saw three red flashes and associated sounds warning of imminent collision - even though NOTHING was in front of the car that would cause the AEB to engage. Below is my incident description: My work has an underground garage. I was entering the garage, went down one level, and then on my way back up the next level. There are speed bumps going down and going up, so you cannot go very fast. On my way back up (incline), the AEB unexpectedly activated with red buttons flashing about three times with sound (as if I was about to crash into something) and then the car abruptly stopped. I stepped on the accelerator to try and go and it would not budge. I'm still on the incline. If there were cars behind me, I would have most likely been rear-ended because this incident came out of nowhere and my car just stopped. There were no moving cars in front of me that would indicate a near collision, only parked cars. I had driven this route in the past so I don't know what was different today. Car just stopped. I am still on incline; placed car in park; waited few seconds; placed car in drive and was finally able to move the car.

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Leaf. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH in the rain, a tree branch fell and struck the passenger’s side of the vehicle causing the air bags to deploy. The contact stated that he lost control of the vehicle when the air bags deployed. Additionally, the vehicle lost steering and braking functionality. There was an unknown warning light illuminated during the failure. The vehicle then lost electrical and motive power and rolled to a complete stop. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was still awaiting the needed repairs. Neither a dealer nor the manufacturer had been contacted or notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA - RECALL NO 20V412000 - For a week at a time on a monthly basis the back-up camera will disappear while in reverse. And therefore our vehicle no longer complies with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111 "Rear Visibility". - Yes the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. - My safety and the safety of others continues to be put at risk due to the lack of an image in the back-up camera display which increases the risk of a crash. - We have taken the vehicle into the Nissan dealership 4 times and every time they state they cannot recreate the error even though the error is occurring as I am dropping the vehicle off at the dealership. - There has been no other warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. This has been a re-occurring problem since vehicle was purchased in December 2020.

When putting my car in reverse my back up camera intermittently will not work. I have called the dealership that I purchased the vehicle (Rossen of Madison on the Beltline). I have taken the car multiple times, I have called multiple times. Nissan has yet to include my vehicle make and model into the recall. Even though it is a 2020 model. My car is at the dealership today as my camera stopped working last week and was still not working this morning. However the dealership is now telling me "it worked when it arrived and they have been unable to recreate the issue". This is frustrating and needs to have an official recall PLEASE!

The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Leaf. The contact stated that the battery gauge was reading incorrectly. The contact stated that while doing a 70-mile roundtrip with 173 miles battery life, the battery gauge indicated the battery level was at 70 miles remaining. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of failure and informed the contact that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROL WAS CALLED AND REPORT WAS DOCUMENTED WHICH IS ATTACHED. THIS HAPPENED ON DECEMBER 22,2020 AT ABOUT 7PM, DARK CLEAR EVENING IN THE CITY OF MISSION VIEJO. IT WAS ON THE STRAIGHT FREEWAY LANE LEADING TO THE OFFRAMP WITH OTHER LANES ON THE FREEWAY MOVING FREELY. UPON DISCUSSION WITH NISSAN INVESTIGATION (CLAIM NO. 42994813) 615 725 7590, THEY SUMMARIZED 10 PAGE DISCLAIMER FROM OWNERS MANUAL STATING THAT BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT 100%. ITS UNDERSTANDABLE IF THE VEHICLE WAS OLD BUT THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE WITH WHAT IS ADVERTISED AS A AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM AND THAT SYSTEM DID NOT WORK. I MANUALLY BRAKED TO A CRASH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER HARBOR NISSAN LOCATED AT 4336 TAMIAMI TRAIL, PORT CHARLOTTE, FL 33980 WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT AND CV JOINT WAS FAULTY AND THE AXLE NUT NEEDED TO BE RETORQUED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE AND WAS CONCERNED THAT THE REPAIR FAILED TO ADEQUATELY ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 720.

THE REVERSE CAMERA SYSTEM THAT ACTIVATES WHEN THE CAR IS IN REVERSE IS SO BLURRY THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DISTINGUISH OBJECTS. YOU CAN'T TELL IF THAT'S A BOX IN THE DRIVEWAY BEHIND YOUR CAR OR A BABY SEAT WITH A BABY IN IT. FOR TEST PURPOSES A SIGN WITH 3-INCH LETTERS PLACED 48 INCHES FROM THE CAMERA IS COMPLETELY ILLEGIBLE ON SCREEN. NISSAN REPORTS THAT THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION FOR THE 2020 LEAF REAR CAMERA. I AM ATTACHING A PICTURE OF THE REAR CAMERA SCREEN ALONG WITH A PICTURE OF THE EXACT SAME SCENE TAKEN WITH A CELL PHONE. THE QUALITY DIFFERENCE IS QUITE STRIKING, AND ILLUSTRATES HOW POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS THE 2020 LEAF REAR CAMERA COULD BE FOR DRIVERS.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN BOTH RURAL AND SUBURBAN ENVIRONMENTS, REGARDLESS OF WEATHER TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE AND DURING NORMAL FORWARD DRIVING MOTION, THE CAR REPORTS THAT THE FORWARD CAMERA OVERHEATS AND IMMEDIATELY RENDERS THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM AND PROPILOT INOPERATIVE. DASH LIGHTS PICTURE INCLUDED.1ST OVERHEATING OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON APRIL 15, 2020 AND THE AFTER 2 MORE OCCURRENCES I TOOK A PICTURE ON JULY 6, 2020. NISSAN SERVICE REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE AND DISMISSES THE ISSUE WHEN I REQUEST SERVICE, STATING THAT IT IS "NORMAL OPERATION."
