VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMApril 22, 2026
While traveling at normal highway speeds (55 MPH), the vehicle's battery capacity rapidly dropped from 80-90% down to 10% in less than 30 seconds, resulting in activation of the vehicle's "turtle mode" and power throttling, which made it impossible to maintain posted highway speed of 55 MPH. A warning appeared on the dashboard, which stated, "Warning Power Reduced". The vehicle traveled at approximately 40 MPH creating a serious hazard to others on the roadway who were traveling at the posted speed limit of 55 MPH. Upon pulling over to the side of the freeway, the battery charge rebounded back up to 75%, but maintained power throttle, making it unsafe to reenter the roadway, as the vehicle was incapable of accelerating to the posted speed limit of 55 MPH. It was extremely slow to accelerate at all, making it from 0 - 40 in about a minute, which again, was extremely hazardous to others on the roadway. Nissan has since acknowledged that this was due to a factory defect, and covered under their factory warranty. I have attached photos of the warning message displayed, and have videos of the rapid battery loss, but those files are too large to attach.
SERVICE BRAKESApril 21, 2026
I was driving on city streets at 25 mph or less, using the Nissan Leaf e-pedal system (which automatically slows the car to a stop when you let off the accellerator), when an alert flashed up on my dashboard, saying something like: “e-pedal system disconnected, use brake pedal to stop”. There was also a check engine light and an ABS warning indicator on. When I pushed down on the brake pedal I felt no resistance and no braking action. When I put the brake pedal to the floor, there was a vibration and a little bit of braking, but somewhat ineffective. I drove slow speed to a safe place to stop, and turned the car off. After calling for a tow, I turned the car back on and the brake system functioned normally. I had the car towed to a Nissan Dealership service department. The dealership read code C118A-97 stored as a “past code”. They erased the codes and performed DTC confirmation procedure and code did not return. Dealership service department road tested vehicle and no signs of malfunction. They inspected brake fluid level, level was normal but was dirty. I authorized service department flush and replace the brake fluid, which they did. They again road tested the vehicle, and I picked up the vehicle later.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMApril 20, 2026
When operating the vehicle above the minimum temperature recommended by the manufacturer, the battery state of charge has dropped multiple tens of percentage points in moments while driving on the highway while driving the speed limit. The starting point for the state of charge in this situation was roughly 64% when beginning the trip. This has occurred at roughly 10 degrees Fahrenheit. The vehicle gives a warning that the driver should pull over immediately, which is very dangerous when driving on an interstate highway in traffic. The state of charge dropped into the teens in moments. This cold weather issue was not disclosed when purchasing the vehicle. The minimum operating temperature for the vehicle is -1 to -13 degrees F depending on the operating conditions (charging, driving, etc.). This should not occur at 10 degrees F. A software fix to the battery to slow the state of charge will not remedy the issue with a faulty battery in this case. Why is this accepted when the Chevrolet Bolt vehicles were required to swap their batteries to remedy the issue? I have not had time to bring this into the dealer due to my schedule availability. I will try to reproduce this upcoming winter. Others online have reported this same problem though.

April 20, 2026 NHTSA Safety Complaint I am reporting an unresolved safety issue involving my 2019 Nissan LEAF subject to NHTSA Recall 24V-700. This recall identifies a battery defect that presents a fire risk and requires avoidance of Level 3 (CHAdeMO) charging. There is currently no remedy available and no repair timeline. This restriction significantly limits the usability of the vehicle, which I rely on for daily transportation and work. The vehicle is also subject to a separate HVAC/defrost-related safety issue that may impact visibility and safe operation, also without an available fix. I made multiple documented attempts to resolve this directly with Nissan Consumer Affairs, including a formal escalation sent via certified mail. Nissan has failed to respond. Additionally, prior written correspondence from Nissan referenced an incorrect vehicle model (“Rogue”) despite having my correct VIN on file, raising serious concerns regarding the accuracy of the review conducted on my case. I am continuing to incur financial hardship for a vehicle I cannot safely or practically use. NHTSA records confirm this recall remains incomplete with no available remedy, and that continued use of Level 3 charging presents a risk of battery fire. I am requesting investigation into the lack of remedy and manufacturer response

We have a 2019 Nissan Leaf that I believe is covered under California's Lemon Law. We were unable to properly use the vehicle due to the fast charge DC capabilities being falsely reported by the dealership when we purchased it. We were told to stop using the DC chargers as a fire might break out, thus making the vehicle unsafe to charge at home and unsustainable for our work/life use. Several of the R24B2 recall milestones were missed in rectifying this charging issue and there is seemingly no solution to this dangerous battery issue. Since, the vehicle will also inexplicably drop in battery performance from 70% to 9% when the vehicle is cold and driving uphill with the defroster on. Looking this up on google has shown us that it is the signs of a weak battery, although the dealership says that it's running optimally. We've taken it to the dealership and they cannot replicate the problem and will not help us replace the battery. And since taking it in, the driver's side door now inexplicably won't lock or unlock with a push of a button or key fob. It has to be manually locked or unlocked. Extremely dangerous when walking to my car alone at night and having to now get in through the passenger side to unlock the driver's side door before entering my car. I do not feel safe with this car in the least. The Leaf is only 7 years old but acts like it's 17. A nightmarish purchase on our end that did not live up to the promise of what the dealer sold us. And apparently, it was fully known that the fast-charging DC capability did not work properly when sold to us. We would like to trigger a buy back from Nissan Consumer Affairs to the date when the recall was first announced. Thank you.

My vehicle is subject to recall number 24V-700 My Nissan case number is 56497817 I have received 4 recall notices (24V-700 beginning 18 months ago. All notices state that Nissan is working open a software fix for this problem, but state that the problem is the result of excessive lithium deposits within certain battery cells, hence level three charging my cause a battery fire. This has a significant impact on my use of this vehicle. There is currently no remedy, although they do apologize for the inconvenience. I request that NHTSA pressure Nissan to provide a battery replacement. This seems to me to also be a warranty issue. If the battery is still under warranty, shouldn't it be repaired of replaced?

Regarding NHTSA Recall 24V-700 which was first reported in September of 2024. We were told not to use the "fast" charging port because of a fire hazard. Using the slower charging port takes about an extra 8 hours per charge. This was supposed to be fixed in November of 2024. To date....almost 2 years later....not fix is available. This has caused me over 800 additional hours of charging time!!! Nissan should have to pay us for this time as we bought the car with the expectation of using the fast charger.

Vehicle is subject to Recall R24B2 / NHTSA 24V-700 (battery fire risk during Level 3 DC fast-charging). Nissan issued a "do not use" directive for the CHAdeMO fast-charge port in October 2024 with a projected remedy date of November 2024. As of March 2026 — over 16 months later — no remedy has been provided. The affected component is the high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack. The battery is available for inspection. The defect has been confirmed by Nissan North America via recall notice and by an authorized Nissan dealer (February 2026), who confirmed no remedy is available. No warning lamps or symptoms were observed; the risk is established by Nissan's own recall documentation.Safety risk: Nissan's own recall states that continued Level 3 fast-charging may cause rapid battery heating and fire. The "do not use" directive effectively removes a core advertised feature of the vehicle with no timeline for restoration.I have contacted Nissan Consumer Affairs twice regarding this recall (February 2025 and November 2025) and received no remedy or timeline. Nissan has repeatedly postponed its repair schedule. A second related recall (NHTSA 25V655, October 2025) was subsequently issued covering additional model years, further confirming the defect remains unresolved industry-wide.I am formally demanding a vehicle buyback under NY Lemon Law (GBL § 198-a) and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act due to Nissan's failure to remedy this defect within a reasonable time.

My 2019 Nissan Leaf has a charging safety issue that prevents safe use of Level 3 DC fast charging. Nissan has instructed owners not to use Level 3 fast charging because of a potential battery overheating condition. Nissan representatives stated that engineers are working on a remedy, but no repair is currently available. Level 3 charging is a normal and necessary charging method for this vehicle. Being unable to safely use fast charging significantly limits the safe operation and intended use of the vehicle. In addition, I have experienced concerns with slower charging as well. Nissan advised me to have the dealership diagnose the issue while also stating that engineering is still developing a fix. Because the manufacturer has acknowledged a charging safety concern while no repair is currently available, I am submitting this complaint so the issue is documented and reviewed by NHTSA for safety implications.

This recall is over a year old, based on science there is likely no software fix supported by the age of the recall. Since there clearly is no software fix, battery replacement should be mandated. This car is not able to be used as advertised, since it supported fast charging. I would need to rent another car for any trips over about 90 miles in one direction.

Nissan has instructed us not to use fast charging. However, I do not have a home charger and do not have access to any other charging option besides fast charging. This leaves me in a very difficult position. I am extremely concerned about my family’s safety and my own. I am constantly worried that the vehicle could catch fire at any time while we are inside. This situation has caused significant stress and anxiety, as I no longer feel confident that the car is safe to drive. Given these concerns, I am requesting a buyback so that I can purchase a vehicle that I feel is safe and reliable. I do not want to continue putting my family at risk or live with the constant fear that something could happen while we are on the road.

Three issues remain unsolved as Nissan states there is no current fix. 1) Recall for battery/fast charge. Recall was supposed to be fixed by Nov 24 and has not been fixed. Fast charge could lead to fire. Charging is limited to level 1 or level 2. 2) Software update causes heat to stop working at will. This is a safety hazard as temps in the upper midwest dip below zero degress. Nissan consumer affairs state their engineers are working on it, but this is the second winter season I'm dealing with this. 3) Infotainment system reboots daily at will and this is a safety issue as well. There is TSB that fixes this but my VIN is not included in the TSB therefore Nissan refuses to update it.

Nissan has reported than some cars could abruptly catch fire while DC fast charging due to excessive lithium deposits within the battery cells. In certain circumstances, those excess deposits could create additional electrical resistance while fast charging, overheating the battery pack and causing a fire. The NHTSA's reference number is 24V-700. This problem was first discovered in 2024 and officially reported in September 2024. This is nearly a year and a half ago and limits the usefulness of the vehicle to local driving only. It is ridiculous that a remedy still hasn't been implemented.

Two interim letters were sent in October and November 2024 saying no remedy was available; do not quick charge. A third interim letter was in June 2025 sent saying do not quick charge but remedy would be available in third quarter 2025. All of the above is verified in NHSTA Safety Recall Report: [XXX] . I am filing this complaint regarding the ongoing safety risk and lack of remedy for NHTSA Recall 24V-700, which affects my 2019 Nissan Leaf. This recall was officially initiated in September/October 2024 due to a risk of high-voltage battery fires during Level 3 (DC Fast) charging caused by lithium deposits in the battery cells. It has been approximately 16 months since Nissan issued the interim notification advising owners to stop using Level 3 quick charging. To date, no functional remedy has been provided. This delay has resulted in: 1. Unaddressed Fire Risk: The vehicle contains a known defect that can lead to a thermal incident. While Nissan’s interim "solution" is to avoid fast charging, the underlying hardware defect remains in the vehicle. 2. Loss of Essential Functionality: I am unable to use the advertised DC fast-charging capability of my vehicle. This severely limits the vehicle's utility for trips beyond its immediate range and forces me to rely exclusively on slower Level 1 or Level 2 charging, which is not always feasible. 3. Unreasonable Delay: Under 49 U.S.C. Chapter 301, manufacturers are required to remedy safety defects within a reasonable time. A delay of over a year for a software-based fix (which Nissan has stated is the intended remedy) is unreasonable and leaves the consumer with a diminished and potentially hazardous product. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate the cause of this extensive delay and compel Nissan to either provide an immediate repair, offer a vehicle buyback, or replace the defective battery modules, as the proposed software "patch" appears insufficient to address the physical cell degradation.

I have performed all the services and the recalls at the local Nissan dealer but there is still no remedy for the fast charge issue. As per the purchase agreement with Nissan, I should be able to use fast chargers without limitation but the lack of ability to use the fast charge port has severely hampered my ability to use the vehicle to travel even within my state. Nissan has promised a fix for more than a year but has failed to deliver.

Recall issued 9/24. Remains without a remedy with no estimated time for solution per Nissan Consumer Affairs Regional specialist. Vehicle is unsafe to be charged at fast charging chargers due to possibility of fire in lithium ion battery limiting my ability to travel. Also, the market value and utility is diminished due to this open recall. Requested buy back from Nissan North America and was denied citing not enough repair information on file with dealership where purchased and serviced. I see no connection to this statement governing the recall in question. I have followed the manufacturer’s recommended service for this vehicle as stated in the owner’s manual. This is unsatisfactory to me due to this extended recall compromising my safety and my ability to get market value for the vehicle at this point in time should I choose to do so.

More than a year later, and Nissan still has no remedy available for recall 24V-700, posing a fire risk to consumers. In what universe would a software remedy take a major auto manufacturer more than a year to develop? NHTSA has the ability to regulate and safeguard the public. Instead they have become known as a toothless, ineffective exemplar of government brokenness. Why?

I and other owners of affected Nissan Leafs are not able to use the car to its full capacity. For my Nissan Leaf 2019, I used DC fast charger to charge up while returning home from another town, with battery below 8%. It charged and got home and plugged in my Level2 charger overnight. In morning it displayed a “Service EV System” error and became undriveable. It would not go into Drive or Reverse. It will go into Neutral or Parking only. When I got it towed to Dealership, they cleared the code and gave back the car as drivable. But when I plugged in Level2 charger overnight, next morning same issue occured. Now Dealership did full diagnostics and tells me the car needs PDM (Power Distribution Module) replaced. Nissan previously issued Service Campaign P9351 for this exact issue, but my VIN is not included. I believe my vehicle has the same defective PDM and poses a safety risk due to sudden loss of drive power. Nissan has declined coverage. I am requesting NHTSA investigate whether the recall should be expanded to include additional affected vehicles. Also there is open Recall R24B2 regarding Lithium Battery getting too hot durinig Fast DC charging for which they don't have the Remedy yet. I recall that only 3-4 weeks before above incident, I had my previous Fast DC charging session, after which I got a message on dashboard saying something like "Battery is very hot". I waited for 10 minutes before driving. Each time I would drive from standstill position, it will accelerate very slowly, but eventually drive OK after speeding up. I came home and let it cool overnight, and did not notice same symptom again until above PDM related issue happened after next Fast DC charging session.

Nissan announced recall R24B2 on September 19, 2024. The vehicle is at risk of overheating/fire when FAST CHARGING. Nissan has not provided ANY solution to this issue in the 14 months the recall has been open. Dealers have no information, Nissan says they are "working" on a software fix but give no date or schedule for repair. The official response from Nissan Corporation has been to tell us that they believe the recall solution of "DO NOT FAST CHARGE" is sufficient and they do not need to provide us any further assistance or compensation. The vehicle cannot be driven further than a single charge will allow because major EV charging station companies have now BANNED Nissan Leaf's from using their stations because of fire risk. This means outside of my HOME, I cannot charge the Leaf AT ALL. There is no usability of a vehicle that cannot be charged or powered outside of the home for risk of fire or damage to the battery. I was charged MORE money to have fast charging and a larger battery in this vehicle to be able to utilize it for ALL of my driving needs, including the ability to fast charge to increase range of the vehicle. Our vehicle had swollen battery modules that had bent or damaged the stacks and required a new battery to be installed due to the swelling of the modules leaving the vehicle unable to power on. Nissan replaced the battery in October 2025, but informed us despite a NEW battery the vehicle STILL CANNOT BE FAST CHARGED, as they are still unsure of how to fix the rapid heating of the cells. The vehicle will likely see the same swelling and degradation of the batteries without a PROPER solution from Nissan, leaving me to minimize any driving of a vehicle I am actively paying for, to avoid risk to my family, home and vehicle.

This recall has been outstanding for more than a year and limits the long-range driving capabilities of the affected cars. My primary complaint is that Nissan has not addressed this issue in a timely manner and the online information shows outdated status (i.e. "NISSAN IS CURRENTLY DEVELOPING A REMEDY PLAN THAT IS EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE by March 2025.). Nissan issued a recall for my car in September 2024, stating that 2019 Leafs cannot use CHAdeMo fast charging until the problem has been remedied. Nissan gave multiple estimates of when the recall would be completed (first in the fall/winter of 2024, then early 2025). Despite the recall being most recently estimated to be remedied in March 2025, it is now October 2025 and there is no solution, nor any recourse for the lack of remedy. Accordingly, for over a year, I have been unable to use fast charging, making it impossible to take any trip longer that 135 miles (my range on one charge). Using a level 2 charger takes ~8 hours to charge meaning that if the battery gets close to zero, I need to stay in one location for at least 8 hours before I can make it back home. Nissan has not presented any workable solutions nor any kind of compensation for this considerable defect for over 1 year.

The following Nissan recall: NHTSA ID: 24V-700 NISSAN ID: R24B2 The issue was recognized in October of 2024, and owners of affected vehicles were advised not to use level 3 chargers, otherwise the battery cells could experience excessive lithium deposits, creating a risk of explosion. A fix was promised by November 2024, and then rescheduled to be done by spring of 2025 (Nissan's website still says March 2025 as date for remedy). Most recently, Nissan sent out a communication that the fix would be done by the "third quarter" of 2025. This is not only a safety hazard, as if someone forgets the recall, or is unaware of it, there is significant risk. On a practical level, I cannot undertake road trips with my vehicle, as the length of time it would take to recharge on level 2 simply is not logistically feasible. Even for daily commuting, I've had to spend considerable time the past year finding level 2 chargers and waiting for my vehicle to slowly charge. The length of time this has taken is excessive and Nissan should be either buying back all affected vehicles or else offering owners like myself significant settlement checks for the inconvenience.

This is a follow-up to my last complaint because I never received a response. A year ago, Nissan issued a safety recall for some 2019 and 2020 Nissan Leafs that they still don't have a remedy for (Manufacturer Recall # R24B2; NHTSA Recall # 24V-700). This recall instructs affected owners not to DC-fast charge our vehicles, which means we can't DRIVE our vehicles in many applications. Nissan is supposedly always "finalizing" this remedy, and the remedy is supposedly always "coming soon." Then, when the promised release date comes and goes, Nissan just announces a new future release-date for their still non-existent remedy. This has been happening for a year. Owners are supposed to just not use our vehicles the way they were advertised. We're supposed to just not drive our vehicles on trips requiring a DC-fast charge, even though the ability to DC-fast charge is one of the reasons we bought this car. How is this legal? Is the NHTSA planning to do anything to make Nissan issue a remedy for this safety recall?

My 2019 Nissan Leaf SV is under recall R24B2 for battery overheating risk during DC fast charging. Nissan has instructed owners not to use Level 3 fast charging until a remedy is available, but no fix has been provided for almost one year with continued delay in repair promise dates. Yesterday, I was unable to use a fast charger as needed, which forced me to wait several hours at a slower Level 2 charging station. This delay made it impossible to drive my Leaf for a planned Labor Day weekend trip to Amelia Island. Instead, we had to use my daughter’s car, since the Leaf could not meet our travel needs without fast charging. This ongoing situation shows significant loss of use and hardship. Fast charging is an essential function of an electric vehicle, and without it the car cannot perform as originally marketed. The prolonged lack of remedy (nearly a year since the recall was issued) is unacceptable and has left my vehicle restricted and unreliable. Nissan’s failure to notify me placed me, my children, my passengers, and vehicles parked near me at charging stations in danger. Nissan has admitted that they never notified me, and I have written confirmation from them and from NHTSA that manufacturers are required to notify all registered owners. Nissan has still not provided a concrete remedy or addressed compensation for the danger and hardship caused. This is not just a defect — it is negligence and a serious consumer safety failure. Inability to use an advertised feature. They advertised 50Kwh CHAdeMO charging to me when I bought the car and now, they're asking me to not use it, I wouldn't accept this with anything else. Smaller dealers won't buy a car under active recall because many times they cannot sell a car under an active recall, which means I'm forced to go to a larger (probably Nissan) dealer only? Additionally, if I were to try to sell as a private party I wouldn't feel right selling a car under active recall and/or not disclosing there's an active recall which may affect my ability to sell or get the best price for it, especially when the recall is as serious as a FIRE RISK when using an advertised and integral feature. I am unable to recharge at home because I do not have an outlet that meets the l2 requirements. Additionally, I live in an apartment so I am unable to charge. This has caused me a mass inconvenience when trying to go to family events and other events that require long distance driving because the L2charger isn't sufficient enough for me to make to it on time to these events

I own a 2019 Nissan Leaf that is subject to safety recall # RS4B2. Outrageously, while this safety recall was issued almost a year ago, Nissan has to date still not offered an actual remedy. Instead, for the last year, Nissan's "remedy" has been to simply instruct Leaf owners to indefinitely refrain from DC fast-charging our vehicles. This instruction is not only logistically absurd - akin to telling the owners of gas vehicles that they can't visit gas stations for an entire year - but also financially damaging: it has rendered our vehicles totally unusable for many driving applications for almost a year. As such, Nissan's instruction to its customers to indefinitely refrain from using their vehicles the way they were marketed and sold is not merely an inconvenience but rises to the level of consumer fraud. I have asked Nissan to provide just one of the following, all of which they have refused: 1. a loaner Nissan Leaf capable of safely DC fast charging 2. an offer to repurchase my Nissan Leaf 3. a statement in writing from Nissan USA that while waiting for Nissan's still non-existent remedy to its safety recall, I may continue to DC fast-charge my Nissan Leaf without voiding the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty. I would be willing to accept any one of these three solutions at Nissan USA's choosing. What I am not willing to accept is being told that, until Nissan gets around to releasing a remedy to a safety recall that it issued almost a year ago, I may not use the car that I purchased according to its specifications. What can NHTSA do to force Nissan to resolve this issue?

For details please see: Manufacturer Recall Number R24B2 NHTSA Recall Number 24V-700 This battery issue has been known by the company but not yet addressed, despite them saying there would be a solution by March 2025. Quick charging remains not recommended which is a significant issue when using the vehicle on longer drives or for when more battery-intensive alternate routes are necessary. The ability to quick-charge a battery electric vehicle without worry of overheating or fire is a very low baseline for standard usage, and the company should fix the issue or offer replacement batteries as soon as possible.

The open recall 24V-700 still has no remedy from the manufacturer; they keep pushing it back. It's been over 9 months since it was originally issued, and longer since they told me to stop using level 3 charging. A lack of level 3 charging means I cannot feasibly use this vehicle for longer trips. You state "If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or TTY: 1-888-275-9171 or file an online complaint with NHTSA." My 2019 Nissan Leaf has been under recall since September 2024 (Recall #24V700000) due to being a fire hazard when using Level 3 chargers, also known as fast charging. I understand that issues can take time and specialized parts to resolve a recall. However, it is now 10 months later and Nissan still has no remedy to offer for this issue, leaving me unable to safely utilize this key feature. As a result of this delay, I have not been able to drive my vehicle on longer trips and instead make alternate arrangements like renting a vehicle at my own expense. This is also limiting my ability to sell or trade in the vehicle, which ultimately has diminished its value. While I have not suffered direct physical harm from Nissan's delay in resolving this recall, it has negatively impacted the quality and long-term value of the product.

2019 Nissan Leaf Battery Recall: 1 year out from recall announcement, still no repair is available, and it is unsafe to use fast charging for risk of fire. Nissan advertised repairs for recall coming in late 2024, then March 2025. It is now July 2025, and still no repair, and Nissan Corporate will not provide a financial remedy. Have spoken with Consumer Affairs, and they claim no obligation. Unable to use the car to travel longer distances (>45min away from home) because fast charging is unsafe. Consumer Affairs gave me run around. Called back 24 hours after initially promised, at 4 minutes before end of work day on a Friday. Once I finally spoke with the Consumer Affairs rep the next Tuesday, they claimed no obligation under my state's laws to remedy the issue. They refused to email the denial letter that contained this response to the issue and stated that I would have to wait for a physical copy to be sent in the mail 4-8 weeks later. I have gone to 2 Nissan dealerships in the last 2 weeks to attempt to get this recall repaired, and they all report the same issue. It is not possible to repair the battery because Nissan has not provided a solution. 1 year later, this "solution" is still in development. I do not have more time to wait. Moreover, I should be covered by the battery warranty up to 100k miles (I have 51k miles on car) and it does not expire until March 2027.

I am writing to make a formal complaint on how long this recall is taking for my vehicle. It’s been almost a year and no updates. I tried to get an appraisal for my vehicle but was turned away because the dealerships are unable to purchase my vehicle until the recall is resolved. I think its dangerous and very careless to know about this fire hazard while using the ChaDeMao fast charger but assume people will not need to use it over the course of the year. I have used the fast charger against the recall issue only in emergency situations, with caution, however, I don’t want to feel afraid to use it. Plus I am noticing a lot of fast chargers are taking this type of plug out of many chargers in my area. Is there an update with what Nissan will do for this recall? Will they switch over to the new standard fast charger adapter? I hope to find some answers when submitting this complaint.

While driving during rainy conditions on January 19, the windshield wipers stopped working, resulting in obstructed view through front windshield while driving in the rain. Following, they worked intermittently for a week and then stopped working altogether. The exact failure has not been identified but is either a damage rod or non-functional motor; likely the motor as there is no noise coming from motor when the wipers are turned on. No warnings. We do not have a dealer within driving distance.

I've had four incidents of the automatic braking system engaging and braking when there was no object in front of the car that should have required it to stop. There doesn't seem to be a common factor. Twice in a lighted garage. Once on a highway while making a turn during daylight, and once on a highway going straight at night. It's very dangerous.

While driving, the car will fluctuate its battery percentage, similar to the report in NHTSA Recall 24V-700. While driving down the highway with 67%, it suddenly swung down to 10% displaying a "Battery charge is low Charge now" warning on the dash. My concern is that if I'd have had less charge after the swing in battery percentage, the car could have turned on it's "turtle mode" at highway speed on open freeway. My local dealer has confirmed that this is a similar concern to the one outlined in Nissan's recall r24b2 (NHTSA 24V-700), and should be resolved with that fix. I feel that this warrants updating the recall to include fluctuations occurring at speed as well. There are no warnings during the percentage swings while driving, only when it swung below the normal threshold for the "Battery charge is low. Charge now." warning did anything come up.

Door unlock motor that unlocks the passanger door failed. Known issue by Nissan. This is a well documented issue and causes issues in entering the vehicle from outside, even with the key. This can delay entry and cause issues, or cause issues during exit as the automatic door locks do not engage on the affected door.

This vehicle has recall with fast charging component. When we purchased this pre-owned car, the remedy date for this recall was given as November 2024. Hence we purchased this vehicle even though there was a recall. Now the remedy date on the website shows as March 2025. Because of which we are not able to use this vehicle to go office where we could have charged the vehicle using fast-EV charger in office parking. It is inconvenient for us.
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMDecember 8, 2024
The vehicle has developed fluctuating range estimates when going up steep grades on the highway. I was traveling at about 72 mph on a 5% grade with a 50% battery charge and a 60-mile range estimate. The range instantly started to drop from 50% to 40%, then 20%, then 10%. The car then entered what is called “turtle mode,” which limits the top speed to 20 mph. I managed to get the car off the highway onto an off-ramp, and then the battery percentage returned to 50% and turtle mode was deactivated. I was told that the battery pack has a weak cell, and under heavy load, the car’s software detects the lowest voltage in the battery pack, triggering the turtle mode. This is a dangerous situation, as the car loses acceleration and can suddenly drop from 70 mph to 30 mph, putting the driver at risk of being rear-ended or causing an accident. I have recorded this event on camera for reference. I am aware that Nissan has an open recall for fire hazards related to Level 3 charging, but these vehicles are also plagued by faulty high-voltage battery packs.

Received a notification from Nissan Corporation that my 2019 Leaf is the subject of a safety recall concerning risk of lithium ion battery fire during Level 3 charging. The notice explains that the vehicle's lithium-ion battery may experience "excessive lithium deposits within certain battery cells which could increase electrical resistance and result in a fluctuation in the state of the charge." The notice explicitly cites that the battery may contain excessive lithium deposits but the potential remedy (it has not been issued yet) relates only to a softwear update to prevent rapid heating of the battery. However, there is no remedy planned or addressed to the problem of "excessive lithium deposits" which increase electrical resistance and the impact of that damage to the battery life, performance, deterioration or efficiency. The NHTSA report actually cites specific batteries installed in the Leaf model years implicated in the resulting safety recall. It is essential that NHTSA evaluate the impact of these batteries, the effect of excessive lithium deposits on the car's general safety and performance and the necessity of requiring full replacement of batteries damaged by this defect. The issue of damaged batteries is inextricably related to the safety recall and fire risk. As the problem of damaged batteries is confirmed by Nissan Corporation's Recall Notice and cited in the Defect Information Report filed by Nissan with NHTSA (which reference the specific battery components involved), these defective batteries should be subject to replacement.
SERVICE BRAKESOctober 1, 2024
I am writing to report a serious safety issue with my Nissan Leaf that needs immediate attention. On two separate occasions, the brakes have failed completely without any warning while driving. A warning light appeared, stating "T/M System Malfunction Warning - See Dealer," but by that time, the brakes had already stopped working. The only way to stop the vehicle was by using the emergency brake, which is extremely dangerous and could easily lead to a fatal accident. The first incident occurred when I was able to quickly pull into a Walmart parking lot, luckily avoiding other vehicles. The second time, the car crashed into the side of my garage and hit a tree stump in my driveway, causing damage to the rear of the car and breaking the side mirror. I was fortunate enough to engage the emergency brake before the car entered the road, but it was a terrifying experience that could have ended much worse. Fortunately, did not happen while my teenage children and their friends were driving the car. After researching this issue, I was shocked to discover that many other Nissan Leaf owners have experienced similar brake failures dating back to 2012. This is not an isolated incident, and I am deeply concerned that it continues to happen without resolution. When I brought my car to the dealership, they informed me that the issue is related to the Intelligent Brake Unit Controller, and the repairs would cost $5,000. However, my vehicle is only five years old with 62,000 miles, and I believe this defect should be addressed by Nissan, not at the owner's expense. I urge you to take immediate action to investigate this dangerous defect. There is no warning before the brakes fail, and this puts drivers and others on the road at extreme risk. Does it really take a fatal accident for Nissan to address this issue? This problem has been ongoing for years, and it’s unacceptable that it has not been resolved. I hope that you will take this matter seriously and provide a solution befo

On 7/19/2024 while charging the car at Chargepoint Johns Creek, I heard a "clunk" sound as if something had popped off from beneath the body of the Leaf. At the same time, the charging emergency stopped. Smoke started to come out from under the Leaf. There was a smell as if something was melting, making me feel dizzy and nauseous. I felt a sense of confusion from inhaling the smoke. Since both my son and I were outside the car, we were able to quickly pull away and escape as soon as the smoke started. If we had been inside the car, or if this had happened while driving, we might have been unable to escape in time, lost consciousness from the smoke, and possibly died in the fire. The smoke continued for about 15 minutes, followed by a fire. At the same time, there was a sound of something exploding. The police arrived, followed by the fire truck. It took a long time to extinguish the fire, possibly because the lithium battery caught fire. Please refer to the video. ︎Mental and Physical Condition After the Accident Both my son and I are experiencing symptoms similar to PTSD. When we smell smoke or drive a car, we feel chills, nausea, and dizziness, which negatively affect our daily lives. This incident left burn scur to my son and has started having nightmares and crying at night. Seeing an electric vehicle scares us to the point that our bodies freeze and we can't move. Also, seeing fire or hearing car sounds suddenly makes us tremble, our hearts race, and we have difficulty breathing. We start crying uncontrollably in a panic, and it takes time to calm down. It is difficult to control our emotions. We are experiencing insomnia, likely due to the excitement of our nerves from the accident. We probably need mental treatment such as therapy and physical treatment to alleviate insomnia and tension.

During the last 3 winters I have noticed the car do something strange when going up an extended highway inclines. The battery % along with the estimated miles left will drop suddenly (~40% in a minute) and when I would go over the top of the hill most of the battery % and miles would return. During the 2021-2022 winter, I noticed this happen only once or twice. During 2022-2023 winter, I noticed this happen more often but I did not know what was causing it except it seemed to only happen on very cold days and also when the battery % prior to the drop was around 50% or less. During the current 2023-2024 winter, this issue became common. It no longer had to be very cold but just an extended incline and battery at 50% or less. It usually happened between exit [XXX] and exit [XXX] on [XXX] in New Jersey. It has become so common that I was able to record it. The videos show the car will lose over 40% of battery in about a minute. However, once I would go over the hill most of the battery % would come right back. In one video the “Battery charge is low Charge now” warning is triggered. On a few occasions, when I had around 30% of battery prior to going up this hill and the battery started to drop suddenly, I had to make a rapid emergency stop on the right shoulder midway up the hill. When stopped the battery would recover back to around 30% and I was able to get over the hill. This obviously created a safety concern. My car battery is still covered under Nissan’s EV battery warranty. I have taken the car to two 2 Nissan dealerships. One of the dealership was able to replicate the issue, but stated the only way they will approve the warranty repair is if they disassembles the battery. They stated once they approve the warranty repair they can order the battery but that it might take up to 8-9 months to get the battery. They stated that during this whole time my car will be inoperable and Nissan will not provide or reimburse for a loaner car. Upon dealer inspection, there's defective wire hardness which has been noted in Nissan service bulletin Ref: NTB19-054a. Dealer confirmed that it is bulk wire harness issue and will require replacement (~$3.2K for part and labor). i have reported to Nissan since the leaf has 22k mileage only, but rejected by Nissan that it is a manufacturer issues. On 9/17, 2019 Nissan Leaf S 40 kWh lost braking power just after start up. I started the vehicle, placed the vehicle into drive and went to creep through open parking spot. The brake pedal was either dead or lost enough power to feel dead. The vehicle was returned to park in order to stop slow roll. No injuries or damages. Experience seems similar to NHTSA ID 11488058. I don’t recall whether any warning lights came on as I rushed to power down the car. No indicator lights illuminated after restart and vehicle drove home without issue. A few hours prior to brake issue, a humming/ringing sound was heard throughout the cabin just after shutdown. My passengers also observed the sound, which stopped after powering on the vehicle and turning the fan dial. This had not happened before and only occurred once. On 09/18, the vehicle indicated “Warning: Service EV System No Power”. Numerous warning lights were illuminated, a photo taken, and a tow truck scheduled. Two hours later, I went to check whether the vehicle could be placed into neutral. The vehicle started and went into gear without issue and no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealership for inspection as precaution. My 12V battery was the original battery, so I suspected it needed replacement and asked the dealership to test it. I have read online about other issues from Nissan Leaf owners when the 12V battery is deteriorated. Dealership confirmed 12V battery failed testing. They were not able to duplicate the brake issue described above. The only time that the vehicle provided a warning about the 12V battery was when it generated the warning described above once. Otherwise, no indication that battery needed replacement. Nissan needs to provide a system update to give the driver more specific 12V battery health information. Also address the 12V battery more clearly in maintenance schedule. Vehicle operating as expected with a new 12V battery installed.

The back up camera does not work half of the time. When the car is put in reverse, the screen in the console shows only black. Because the car has many blind spots and a small back window, this makes backing up difficult. The other day I almost ran over my neighbors kid and I was being extra cautious. Every time we've taken the car to the dealership for repair the camera start working again. Other Nissan Leafs from this same year were recalled for a similar issue, but ours was not. Nissan needs to expand the recall to more vehicles. We have picture evidence that the camera does not work, but because the dealership can't replicate the issue they will not cover the cost of repair even though this problem is identical to issues from a previous recall.

Rather than actually reprogram the defrosting system, Nissan is resolving the recall by issuing inane instructions. This should not be allowed.

The issue with our car is that the Distance-to-Empty (DTE) calculation for miles remaining for battery charge is very inaccurate. This issue causes the car to prematurely alert the driver that the battery is depleted when it truly is not depleted. While not a true safety issue, it's a driver distraction that can certainly lead to a safety issue. Here's an example of the problem: 1. Fully charge vehicle- the DTE registers 223 miles remaining; reset trip meters. The LeafSpy application shows a 215.9 miles which appears the more accurate reading. 2. Drive 158 miles, the DTE now says only 3 miles remaining. (The DTE dramatically drops after 100 miles of driving each time). The car's historic miles/KWH is 3.9 and is consistent so issue is not related to lost efficiency. 3. Drive another 14 miles to 172 miles, LeafSpy indicates a 23.8% Battery State of Charge and 49.5 miles remaining to 2% charge 5. Check the math for LeafSpy: 216 - 172 = 44 miles 6. I have been auditing the car for a few months and LeafSpy is super accurate. The battery is good, the Nissan DTE calculation is not. We have taken the car to two dealers and have contacted Nissan EV Customer support (1-877-664-2738). I warned Nissan I was going to issue a report so things get documented more.

The ability to make calls through Apple CarPlay was an important consideration when I purchased both of these cars. This was especially the case because my insurance company, for safety reasons, monitors whether I make handheld calls while driving. Both cars have an issue when you try to do a phone call through Apple CarPlay. When I try to make a phone call, it is choppy and full of static, and makes a loud cracking sound, making phone calls nearly impossible. The problem is not intermittent; it happens with every call. The inability to make handheld calls while driving presents a significant safety risk. I have tried 4 different USB cables, and I have tried different phones. The electronic parking brake does not automatically engage, even when the circumstances described in the owner's manual apply. This could cause some cars to be improperly secured, if drivers expect the parking brake to apply automatically but it does not. See for example https://www.reddit.com/r/leaf/comments/oxzrne/how_does_the_electric_parking_brake_work/ This problem seems to be pervasive enough that many owners concluded their car simply does not have this feature, despite it being clearly described in the owner manual.
SEAT BELTSMay 4, 2022
My Nissan does not have an audible reminder to buckle my seat belt. The dealer says this is the way the car is designed. Should my car be recalled? Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards require seat belt reminders to have an audible signal that lasts for four to eight seconds and a visual alert that lasts at least one minute whenever the driver's seat belt is not on.

Backup camera issue On a fairly frequent basis the backup camera does not function. The other cameras (side mirror, front, etc) always work correctly. Closing the rear hatch "firmly" typically resolves the issue and restores the clrear camera function. Opening/Closing the rear hatch at some later point may or may not cause the camera to fail again.

1. The vehicle infotainment screen has been rebooting multiple times over the last few months while driving and the navigation maps screen goes black during the reboot, this is very distracting . 2. The navigation map turn by turn directions intermittently stops working independent of this reboot, causing missed turns, again distracting. 3. The rear camera video intermittently is grayed out instead of showing the rear camera video. I took the car to multiple dealers. The 1st dealer (Nissan of New Rochelle, NY; odometer @ approximately 18,470 miles) said unless the problem is repeatable while in for service there is nothing they can do about it. The other dealer (Star Nissan of Flushing, NY; odometer at 20,470 miles) did a AV software update. Since that AV update on 1/28/2022, Problem #1 and #3 so far have not returned. It may be too early to declare success since today is 2/16/2022. Problem #2 remains! I also noticed that when using Apple Car Play (using a USB wired connection to the Infotainment System) received phone call audio is poor and sounds like someone is gargling. If I switch the phone connection to wireless Bluetooth the audio quality is perfect, so it is not a carrier or phone connection to the network issue. This may be related to problem #2, where the navigation audio stops working. BTW When the Navigation audio stop working,I also lose the ability to change the radio audio. It shows it is changing visually from 0 to +40 on the screen, but the sound audio level remains unchanged. Usually if the car is turned off for more than an hour all returns to normal, at least initially until the next intermittent repeat of the issue. If I turn off the car and turn it back after only a minute or two, the audio problem remains the same.
ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEMFebruary 5, 2022
About January 19, 2022 when the temperature was about -10 degrees F I drove my 2019 Nissan Leaf about 5 miles. When I turned on the car the battery level was at 60%. After I had been driving for about ½ mile I got a dashboard message that the battery was cold and power would be reduced. I got a similar message a few days before which did not result in any difference in power levels, so I ignored the message. At about 3 miles I had to go up a 10% grade hill of about 1/4 mile in length. As soon as I started up the hill and was accelerating I got the power reduction message again. At that point I was traveling about 50mph. Then in the next 10 seconds, and while I was about half way up the hill, the battery indicator on the dashboard dropped all the way down to 1%. The car lost all of its power and I had to pull over to the side of the road. As soon as I stopped the battery indicator started to rise and within the next 30 seconds had returned to 60%. I continued up the hill, and noticed that the power was decreasing and the battery indicator was dropping again. I made it to the top of the hill and stopped again. The battery indicator returned to 60%. I had to stop one more time to allow the battery to recover, but made it to my destination without further problems. Two hours later I started for home and the car operated normally. Between that day and February 5 there have been no further incidents, even though early morning temperatures have ranged from -7 degrees to -28 degrees on 13 days. I took the car to Freedom Nissan in South Burlington, VT on Feb. 2. However, they told me that there was no record of such an incident on the computer and they would do nothing without such a record. To have the car go from full power to zero power in a 10 second period is a very disconcerting experience. It should have provoked an error message in the onboard computer. I think this is a safety problem and would like you to look into it.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCEJanuary 19, 2022
The Incident happened on a bright afternoon while I was entering our two car parking garage in our home ; steering wheel steered to the utmost right to enter the right parking space in our garage. I was driving an almost dead battery (8% charge remaining and 13 miles left) and the 2019 model Nissan Leaf car (20K miles driven) was already very heavy while entering our alley (backyard parking). I was driving at 10 mile speed or under when our fence door was in the process of opening (half way opened) and the car garage was already opened; the car jerked forward with a sudden speed, dashed through the fence door and did not stop on drive way (brakes failed) and entered into the garage, hitting the storage racks built to the wall and the toilet right behind it. Things fell on the windshield, obstructed the car when it finally stopped (had to hit the stop button by force). I was scared to death if the car was going to get on a fire or would result in an electric short circuit. Luckily I was saved with no major injuries and God was beside me and saved me from causing any damage to anyone or other's properties. I am sure there might have been other such complaints on Nissan Leaf and want to bring this to light.

2019 Nissan Leaf. On multiple occasions during hard acceleration the throttle would stick wide open and not release. 06/15/21, 06/29/21, 07/23/21, 10/01,21. I would have to stomp on the brake pedal and make several attempts before I could get the throttle to release. I have reported the issue to the Nissan dealership and on 10/02/2021 they diagnosed it as a braking issue and said they found no problem or faults. The issue is intermittent and has been reported by other Nissan Leaf owners. Very dangerous issue that needs resolved!!
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,BACK OVER PREVENTIONSeptember 23, 2021
The Backup Camera only works intermittently and if it is not working it will not begin working again unless the car is completely turned off and restarted. The failure seems more likely to occur if the car is started and then quickly put into reverse. The failure seems less likely to occur, but still does periodically, if the car is started and then not put into motion until 10-20 sec after the dash start-up graphics have finished. When the camera is failing the display is solid magenta colored with static-lines scrolling through it. The safety issue is that the rear camera cannot be used. We have not yet shown this problem to anyone else. There were no warning lights or alarms indicating a failure. The failure occurrence was very infrequent when we bought the car (new) in 2019, but now is happening at least 50% of the time that we back out of our garage.

Vehicle suddenly loses power while driving, no warnings prior to power loss. 1st incident vehicle lost power and all check engine lights came on. Unable to shift gears or accelerate. Towed to Nissan. This has happened twice again in the past week. Complete power loss while driving, have to coast to a stop and get towed again! 3 times total. Huge safety issue to be without power in the middle of the road. Nissan tried to “reset” it but this has not worked. The 3rd time we picked it up from service it happened again less than a mile away. Screens say “When parked apply parking brake” while I’m driving. Other screen said “Power Supply Failure. To avoid accident injury or death DO NOT DRIVE”. This car is dangerous.

AIR BAGSFebruary 4, 2021
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE RAN OVER A SPARE TRAILER TIRE THAT HAD FALLEN OFF ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE ALMOST CLEARED IT BUT THE TIRE JUST BARELY LODGED UNDERNEATH IN THE UNDERCARRIAGE,JUST PAST THE FRONT TIRES. EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO FRONT COLLISION OR SUDDEN REDUCTION IN SPEED; THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE. THIS IS A FLAW AND SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE THE VEHICLE DID SUSTAIN SOME DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE, THERE WAS NO NEED FOR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND DOING SO EXACERBATED AN ALREADY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. THE AIRBAG STARTLED ME, OBSTRUCTED MY VIEW, AND COULD EASILY HAVE CAUSED ME TO COLLIDE WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I REPORTED IT TO NISSAN USA. I WAS CONTACTED BY NISSAN INCIDENT INVESTIGATIONS AND THEY HAVE DISAVOWED ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INCIDENT AND CLAIM THAT THE SYSTEMS ARE WORKING AS INTENDED. I AM A FIREFIGHTER AND HAVE DEALT WITH MANY CAR WRECKS. I KNOW WHEN AN AIRBAG IS SUPPOSED TO DEPLOY AND IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT THE SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE IS NOT OPERATING AS IT SHOULD AND IS PRESENTING A SAFETY HAZARD. FURTHER, BOTH THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER AND THE ATTENDANT AT THE REPAIR SHOP EXPRESSED CONFUSION AS TO WHY THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT ALONE WILL COST NEARLY $3,000 AND, SINCE THE PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER, WILL TAKE NEARLY A MONTH.

WHEN USING ANDROID AUTO IN THE INFOTAINMENT, ONE CANNOT SEE THE CLIMATE (HVAC) STATUS, SO IT CREATES A DANGEROUS DISTRACTION TO ADJUST THE HEATING/AIR CONDITIONING, FAN SPEED, DEFROST, ETC. WHEN IN NORMAL MENUS AND AN ADJUSTMENT IS MADE TO THE CLIMATE SETTINGS, IT IS DISPLAYED ON THE TOP OF THE SCREEN IN A BANNER. THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE WHERE THIS INFORMATION IS VISIBLE, AND GENERALLY WORKS FINE. HOWEVER, WHEN USING ANDROID AUTO, THIS BANNER DOES NOT ACTIVATE AND IS NOT VISIBLE. AS A RESULT, CHANGING THE CLIMATE SETTINGS INVOLVES MULTIPLE TOUCHSCREEN INTERACTIONS IN ADDITION TO USING THE PHYSICAL CONTROLS. THIS COULD AND SHOULD BE UPDATED VIA A SOFTWARE UPDATE. I WILL ALSO MAKE A YOUTUBE VIDEO SHOWING THE PROBLEM FOR FURTHER ILLUSTRATION.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE E-PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DESIGNED CORRECTLY FOR THE HEAVIER WEIGHT OF THE 62KW BATTERY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR THOSE OF US THAT HAVE A PREVIOUS YEAR 42 KW BATTERY MODEL. I PURCHASED THE 2019 NISSAN LEAF PLUS SL TRIM AND TRADED IN MY 2018 NISSAN LEAF SL ON 2/8/2020. I NOTICED THE BRAKING DISTANCE WITH E-PEDAL HAS INCREASED DRAMATICALLY, BY ABOUT 2X THIS DISTANCE. THAT SEEMS TO BE OUT OF LINE AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN STOP AND GO OR HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM THROTTLES ITSELF BACK TO CONSERVE POWER IN THE TRACTION BATTERY. COMBINED WITH THE FACT THERE ARE NO REAR SEAT VENTS (EITHER IN THE CONSOLE OR THE FLOOR), IT GETS DANGEROUSLY HOT IN THE VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO NISSAN, USA, THIS IS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. TEMPERATURES OF OVER 100 DEGREES HAVE BEEN RECORDED IN MY DAUGHTER'S CAR SEAT WHILE IN TRAFFIC WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING HARDLY RUNNING OR RUNNING AT A VERY LOW POWER. ACCORDING TO NISSAN, THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN MEET THEIR ADVERTISED EPA RANGE. ANOTHER AREA THIS PROBLEM EFFECTS IS THAT WHEN THE WINDSHIELD IS FOGGY, AND YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC, IT WILL NOT PROPERLY DEFROST CAUSING A SERIOUS VISIBILITY PROBLEM. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS OF ALL OF THIS. I CONTACTED NISSAN BUT THEY CLAIM THAT THE CAR IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. I AM CONTACTING THE BBB LEMON LAW SECTION. MY LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE HAS ASKED ME TO FILE A NHTSA COMPLAINT AS THEY FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
