The main issue on the Nissan Frontier that I just bought a few months ago that I need to report that I think should be recalled item is the passenger side exhaust manifold is cracked and it makes ticking noises the exhaust is loud and I am definitely getting exhaust fumes drawn into the cab especially when I turn the heater on now that it's winter time and it's getting CO2 carbon and exhaust fumes inside cab which is very toxic also the rear window defogger does not work and the cruise control does not work at all so anyway you're asking for what date this first occurred well it was like that when I bought it and I bought it on approximately in July of the summer 2024 it was all these issues were already broke when I got it I looked online and I see that the exhaust manifold is a very common problem and it is also a health hazard and toxic and could cause injury or death to passengers so I believe it should be and maybe is recalled I see online where some dealerships a few years ago already started fixing the issue for free before it was even recalled so I did a recall check and it says that there's no unfixed recalls on my vehicle but that exhaust manifold needs to be recalled and warranted because it's happening on a majority of those that means it's a bad design and it is also health hazard safety hazard health risk of injury or death because of it

The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove home safely. The contact performed an inspection and noticed that the fuel pump was rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact notified the manufacturer of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 04V230000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000.

Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V554000 (Steering). The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the U-joint replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in an active recall. The failure mileage was unavailable.

SENSOR WAS REPLACED BUT THE SRS LIGHT CONTINUED TO FLASH AND NOW HAS LOCKED MY SEAT BELTS. DRIVER'S SEAT BELT WILL NOT RELEASE SO I HAVE BEEN HAVING TO DRIVE WITHOUT A SEAT BELT. THE TECHNICIAN ATTEMPTED TO TIGHTEN THE (3) BOLTS BUT END PLAY DID NOT GO AWAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 NISSAN FRONTIER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY WITH A REDUCTION IN THE ENGINE POWER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS EXHIBITED CORROSION AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING WEATHERPROOF DURING PRODUCTION. A VERY STRONG AND VERY OVERPOWERING GAS SMELL CAME INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT AT NIGHT. I HAD MY 5-YEAR OLD STRAPPED IN HIS CAR SEAT IN THE BACK. I WAS STUCK IN TRAFFIC ON I-95 AND DIDN'T HAVE MANY OPTIONS BUT TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE HOME. THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICING AT MY NISSAN DEALERSHIP MECHANIC, AND I HAVE SPECIFIC TEXT FROM THE WORK INVOICE THAT STATES THE FOLLOWING WORD-FOR-WORD: "CANNISTER COMING APART. RIGHT VALVE STUCK INSIDE - REPLACED - GAS LEAKING DOWN SIDE. REPLACED GAS TANK - RUSTED." THE WORK INVOICE ALSO DETAILS THAT THE DEALERSHIP MECHANIC REPLACED THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS: (1) CANISTER ASSY E (2) VALVE ASSY - CO (3) FUEL TANK (4) RING-O FUEL GAG. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND I FULLY MAINTAIN IT ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER'S SCHEDULE. I HAVE BEEN A RESPONSIBLE AND GENTLE OWNER. ON JUNE 30 MY NISSAN FRONTIER BROKE DOWN. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE WEBSTER NISSAN OFFICE. I SPOKE WITH BRIAN AT NISSAN ON JULY 1ST AND HE TOLD ME THAT MY TRUCK WOULD EITHER BE FIXED ON JULY 7/3 OR 7/8. THE PART THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE IS SAFETY RECALL FROM 2003 THAT IS AN ISSUE WITH FUEL SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK. I CONTACTED 1-800-NISSAN1 ON 7/3 IN SEARCH OF A LOANER CAR UNTIL THEY COULD GET MY TRUCK FIXED. GINGER AT 1-800-NISSAN1 OPENED A TICKET AND TOLD ME SOME ONE WOULD CONTACT AFTER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I SPOKE CATHERINE THE REGION REPRESENTATIVE FOR NISSAN ON 7/7 AND SHE SAID THAT NISSAN WILL NOT PROVIDE A LOANER CAR BECAUSE MY IS OFF WARRANTY. I EXPLAINED TO HER THE REASON MY TRUCK BROKE DOWN WAS BECAUSE SAFETY RECALL PART THAT NISSAN WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR. SHE SAID AGAIN NISSAN WILL NOT PROVIDE ME CAR. AFTER I SPOKE WITH CATHERINE : ON 7/7 BRIAN INFORMED ME THE PARTS THEY NEEDED ARE ON BACK ORDER AND IT COULD TAKE NINETY DAYS TO GET THE PART. I CONTACTED 1-800-NISSAN1 AGAIN AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE BACK ORDER ON THE PARTS. THEY HAD CATHERINE CONTACT ME 7/8 AND SHE MESSAGE AT HOME THAT THEY WILL TRY TO GET THE PART SOON. I CALLED CATHERINE BACK ON 7/8 AND ASK TO CALL ME BACK. CATHERINE CALLED ME 7/9/08 AND TOLD ME NISSAN STILL WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME A LOANER CAR EVEN THOUGH IT'S NISSAN'S FAULT. MY NEW CAR WAS PERFORMING AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO AND MAINTENANCE WAS BEING COMPLETED ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE. MY VEHICLE STARTED TO CUT OFF DURING OPERATION IN 2004/5. IT WOULD HAPPEN IN THE DRIVEWAY, EXPRESSWAYS, ETC. IT DIDN'T MATTER. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY CLAIMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. NEXT MY HEADLIGHT BEGAN TO BLOW A BULB EVERY 2,0000-3,000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED IT. THIS OCCURRED IN 2005. MID- JULY TO LATE NOVEMBER 2006 MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL IN COLD/WARM WEATHER. I TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. MY CAR STARTED TO CONSUME OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE IN APRIL 2007. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER YET AGAIN AND I WAS TOLD IT HAD INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH THE EXTERNAL COMPONENTS. I WAS QUOTED $4,000-$4,200 FOR A REPLACEMENT ENGINE. I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN MY REPAIR WORK AND OIL CHANGES AT NISSAN DEALERS AND NOW WHEN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY IS GONE I AM TOLD I NEED TO BUY AN ENGINE. THIS IS UNFAIR AND COSTLY. THE RECALL STATES THAT: ON CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, WATER MAY ENTER THE REAR AXLE HOUSING DUE TO INADEQUATE SEALING OF THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) SENSOR. I SPOKE WITH A FEW MECHANICS REGARDING THIS ISSUE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER NISSANS WARRANTY, I WAS ADVISED TO CHECK THE INTERNET. AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET, I LOCATED THE RECALLS AND FOUND MY CAR ON THEIR LISTINGS. I CALLED NISSANS RECALL DEPARTMENT, SPOKE WITH SOLOMON KIRK ABOUT THE ISSUE I WAS HAVING WITH MY TRUCK. MR. KIRK WENT OVER NISSANS WARRANTY COVERAGE (COVERAGE LISTED BELOW) WITH ME, HE TOLD ME TO GO TO ANY DEALERSHIP TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HE SAID THAT HE WOULD CALL THEM TO LET THEM KNOW THAT I WAS BRINGING MY TRUCK IN REGARDING THE ISSUE WE COVERED. I TOLD MR. KIRK THAT IN THE PAST I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO BROWS FAIRFAX NISSAN. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO BROWNS FAIRFAX NISSAN ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 AND PICKED UP A RENTAL CAR. I RECEIVED A CALL THAT EVENING FROM CHARTER WELLS, THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND WOULD HAVE TO KEEP IT OVER NIGHT. ON SEPTEMBER 26 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHARTER WELLS, HE SAID THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS REPLACED (RECALL ISSUE), I ASK HIM DID THAT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE WITH THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT HE SAID NO BUT I WOULD NEED MY TRANSMISSION FLUSHED BECAUSE IT IS DIRTY. AFTER THINKING ABOUT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT BEING REPLACED AND THAT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE, I THOUGHT TO GO BACK TO MY MECHANIC FOR HIS ADVICE. I DID NOT HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUSHED. ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2006 I WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND INFORMED HIM OF THE WORK THAT WAS DONE ON MY TRUCK FROM BROWNS FAIRFAX NISSAN AND THE ISSUE WITH THE OVERDRIVE LIGHT. OIL CHANGED AND TIRES BALANCED/ROTATED ISSUE HE INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING BAD AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE NISSANS WARRANTY. I WAS INFORMED BY NISSAN THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ENGINE EXHAUST SYSTEM 12/03. I FOLLOWED UP AND HAD IT REPAIRED OR REPLACED , AT THIS POINT I'M UNCERTAIN WHAT HAPPENED. TODAY, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS INOPERABLE AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY 800.00 TO REPLACE IT. THIS IS A DEVICE THAT IS APART OF THE ENGINE EXHAUST RECALL THAT WAS DONE IN '03. BECAUSE 2 YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE THE RECALL WAS DONE, I AM NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND I AM FORCED TO MAKE ANOTHER COSTLY REPAIR. THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY PARTS ON THIS ALTIMA ARE DEFECTIVE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. PRIOR TO REPLACEMENT THE LIGHTS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. BUT THE ACTUAL DEFECT CAUSED BY THE LIGHTS BEING TOO HOT AND THEN MELTING THE PLASTIC WAS NOT BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION UNTIL EXPENSES HAD BEEN INCURRED ON REPLACEMENT OF THE LIGHTS SEVERAL TIMES. WHENTHE LEFT SIDE WAS PROPERLY DIAGNOSED FINALLY, THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE DEALER DENIED REPLACEMENT AND REFUSED TO ATTEMPT ANY SOLUTION. DUE TO THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE LIGHTS AND THE LEFT HEAD LIGHT ASSEMBLY PART, I HAD TO WAIT TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE. THE PARTS COMPONENTS FOLKS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. GENERAL GRABBER AW (225-75-15). I ALMOST HAD THREE ROLLOVERS WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD SON IN THE TRUCK. ENTERING I-24 W EXIT 78 HEADING FROM MURFREESBORO TO NASHVILLE. I WAS TRAVELING AT SPEEDS NOT OVER 35MPH. I WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK IF I WAS GOING ANY FASTER. THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. YOU CAN TELL BY VISUAL INSPECTIONS. *PH

VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER AND DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. ON MAY 29, 2003 VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. ALL ELECTRIC FAILED AGAIN. VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 20-25 MINUTES AND DRIVEN TO DEALER. DEALER HAD VEHICLE FOR FOUR DAYS AND REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND HARNESS. ON JUNE 11, 2003 VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN. VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER 20-25 MINUTES. WILL CALL DEALER TO STATE THAT SHUT DOWN PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. *JB

MY 2002 NISSAN FREONTIER PICKUP HAS SOME SERIOUS BBRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ISSUES. THE BRAKE PEDAL IS TO CLOSE TO THE GAS PEDAL. IT IS SO EASY TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AT THE SAMETIME YOU PRESS THE BRAKE. SEVERAL PEOPLE HERE HAVE MADE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE THAT HAS ALREADY CAUSED NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS. DEALER REPLACED DRIVESHAFT AT 156MILES AFTER CONFIRMING PROBLEM ON TEST DRIVE. BUT STILL HAS VIBRATION DEALER MADE ANOTHER ATTEMPT AT REPAIR THEN ON THIRD TIME IN SHOP SAID IT WAS NORMAL. I FILED UNDER FL LEMON LAW AND MANUFACTURER REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES. BUT TRUCK STILL HAS VIBRATION, IT IS NOW MUCH MORE SEVERE AT 13000 MILES AND I AAM STILL PURSUING REPURCHASE UNDER FL LEMON LAW. I THINK YOU SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS DEFECT AS I HAVE FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE OF ANOTHER TRUCK WHERE THE CARRIER FAILED SUCH THAT THE REPAIRING DEALER TOLD THE OWNER THAT HE SHOULDNT DRIVE HIS TRUCK UNTIL THE BEARING WAS REPLACED BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE NISSAN SPEED LIMITER ENGAGED AT APPROXIMATELY 80MPH CAUSING ME TO ALMOST LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. NISSAN CLAIMS THAT THE SPEED LIMITER CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO START BUCKING BACK AND FORTH IS NORMAL AND HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 70 TO 75, UNDER ACCELERATION, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THEN THE VEHICLE'S RPMS DROPPED DOWN TO ABOUT 500 AS IF THE VEHICLE HAD NO GAS. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE TRUCK OFF I MADE SURE THAT THERE WAS GAS, AND STARTED THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IT SEEMED TO RUN AT ABOUT THE CORRECT RPM SO I TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. THEY HAD IT FOR A WEEK, AND ULTIMATELY SAID THAT IT WAS A BAD OXYGEN SENSOR (THE VEHICLE IS SUPERCHARGED) THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. I AM NOT TOO CONFIDENT IN THAT EXPLANATION. GOD WILLING, THE PROBLEM IS FIXED. THE TRUCK WAS ONLY 3 WEEKS OLD AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.*AK

IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT CHILDREN SIT IN THE BACK OF VEHICLES, BUT SINCE THERE IS ONLY A LAP BELT, HOW SAFE IS IT FOR A 6 YEAR OLD TO SIT IN THE JUMPER SEAT? DOES CRASH TESTS SHOW THAT THE LAP BELT IS SUFFICIENT FOR ADULTS SITTING IN THE JUMPER SEAT?*AK
