From my Internet search using Google Gemini, (and Google AI has a disclaimer it can make errors), I have replaced my distributer on my 2000 Nissan Frontier three times now due to a stalling problem I have experienced on hot days. My 2000 Nissan Frontier is VIN [XXX] . I was driving home or not and it was raining. I turned the windshield wipers on. They were working to begin with but after a few minutes, they just quit working altogether. You could hear the motor running for the wiper, but they just wasn’t moving so I had to see it on the side of the road to it. Quit raining so I could make it home. and couldn’t find the part to fix the windshield wipers so my boyfriend has rigged it to where it would work

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the rear taillight bulb would eject from the retaining clip inside the socket of the taillight assembly. She became aware of the failure after purchasing replacement bulbs for what she thought were blown bulbs. After several failures, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who physically held the bulb in place inside the assembly. After letting go of the bulb, the failure recurred. The local dealer and manufacturer were contacted and informed of the failure. The manufacturer notified the contact of NHTSA Campaign Number: 99V347002 (Exterior Lighting) however, the VIN was not included. The contact was then referred to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 168,000.

WENT TO MY LOCAL GARAGE TO GET MY TIRES BALANCED. MECHANIC REPORTED THAT 1 OF THE 4 TIRES (ALL BOUGHT TOGETHER) WAS BEGINNING TO COME APART INTERNALLY / BELT SEPARATION. THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED DURING OCTOBER OF 2019. THEY HAVE LESS THAN 8000 MILES ON THE TIRES. VENDOR IS REIMBURSING ME FOR THE ONE TIRE THAT WAS FOUND TO HAVE THE DEFECT. THANKFULLY THIS WAS CAUGHT EARLY, BUT AM VERY CONCERNED AS THE OTHER 3 TIRES HAVE THE SAME DOT NUMBER.

I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM SCHOOL ON MARCH 10TH 2011. WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY ONRAMP MY CAR ENGINE STOPPED. I WAS TRAVELING 40 MPH AND DID NOT GET ANY WARNING ABOUT THE STALL, MY STEERING DID NOT HAVE ANY POWER AND BRAKES WERE DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. WHEN I CALLED NISSAN (1-800-NISSAN1) ABOUT MY INCIDENT AND ASK IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS MADE TO MY VEHICLE I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I THEN TOOK MY TRUCK TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSE WITH A FAULTY PUMP AND BURNED ELECTRICAL WIRES. THIS REPAIR COST ME OVER $900. I CHECKED WWW.NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE FOR ANY RECALLS, LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT AS PER RECALL CAMPAIGN I.D. # / NHTSA #: R0401 & R0402 / 04V-230 DOCUMENT RCRIT-04V230-8435. THIS RECALL WAS MADE BACK IN JANUARY 23, 2009. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS, I WISH I WAS AND SO I WOULD NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH ALL THE COSTLY REPAIRS.WHEN I CALLED NISSAN BACK I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL RESEARCH MY INCIDENT AND GET BACK TO ME THE NEXT DAY. NOW FUEL SENDING UNIT SET OFF SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN AT 73444 MILES. GAS TANK CORRODED AROUND SENDING UNIT JUST 3 YEARS AND 11000 MILES LATER. THERE WAS A SHORT IN THE FUSE BOX THAT CAUSED A FIRE THAT BURNED UP THE BATTERY, THE HOSES AND MOST OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. PRIOR TO THE FIRE THE VEHICLE WAS STALLING DURING TURNS. THIS OCCURRED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN TO A GARAGE. THE FIRE STARTED AS THE TRUCK TURNED INTO THE GARAGE PARKING LOT SO IT WAS PUT OUT QUICKLY. ON MARCH 07, 2007 MY 2000 NISSAN FRONTIER BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY TO LOSE ENGINE POWER. NO RECOGNIZABLE EVENTS LEAD UP TO THE POWER FAILURE, IT CAME ON SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AT A MAJOR HIGHWAY INTERSECTION, AND NEARLY CAUSED VEHICLE CRASH. ON MARCH 08, 2007, I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY PRIMARY MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. ON MARCH 09, 2007, MY PRIMARY ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS BEING A FAULTY FUEL TANK SENDING UNIT. HE ALSO ADVISED ME OF NISSAN'S VOLUNTARY RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM, AND SUGGESTED THAT I RETURN MY VEHICLE TO THEM TO HAVE THE RECALL SERVICE COMPLETED. ON MARCH 22, 2007, I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO SANDY SANSING NISSAN OF PENSACOLA, FL, TO HAVE THE RECALL SERVICE COMPLETED. THE DETAILS OF THIS SERVICE AS NOTED ON MY SERVICE INVOICE WERE AS FOLLOWS: FUEL SENDING UNIT NON-SALT RECALL; CHECKED CONNECTION, NO CORROSION FOUND, SPRAYED PROTECTIVE COATING ON CONNECTORS. ON MARCH 23, 2007, I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE, AS I HAD BEEN ADVISED THAT THE SERVICE WAS COMPLETED. AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN FOUR MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE ENGINE IN MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO FAIL, JUST AS IT HAD WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS BEING A FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT. I PHONED SANDY SANSING NISSAN'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO ASVISE THEM THAT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THE RECALL DID NOT REQUIRE THEM TO REPLACE THE FAULTY FUEL SENDING UNIT SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS IDENTIFIED AS NOT BEING LOCATED IN A " SALT STATE". AS A RESULT OF MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE FAILURE, AGAIN I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS THAT WAS USED TO DETERMINE THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR BEING LOCATED IN A SALT STATE. AFTER IT WAS HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER I WAS TOLD THE O2 SENSORS WERE TELLING MY COMPUTER TO RUN THE GAS LEAN AND THE COMPUTER WAS TELLING MY O2 SENSORS TO RUN LEANER. AT THAT TIME MY CAR HAD ONLY 52,000 MILES AND I KNOW THE O2 SENSORS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD FOR UP TO ABOUT 80,000. NOTING WAS DONE AND THE CARE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE ROUGH IDLE AS IF IT WANTS TO DIE. THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A SLIGHT WOBBLE SIMILAR TO THAT EXPERIENCED WHEN THE WHEELS ARE NOT BALANCED PROPERLY AND WITHIN MINUTES, THE TREAD SEPARATED AND CAME OFF COMPLETELY. THE FLYING SHARDS OF TREAD RIPPED THE MOLDING UNDER THE BUMPER PARTIALLY OFF, DAMAGED THE RIGHT TURN LIGHT MECHANISM AND CAUSED MINOR DENTS AND PAINT WORK DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE FOR A BRIEF INSTANT BUT AS THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO SERIOUS DAMAGE OR BODILY INJURY. COMPLETED TRIP ON SPARE TIRE AND IMMEDIATELY REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. TIRES HAD ~37000 MILES ON THEM AND HAD PLENTY OF TREAD LEFT AS THE MILES WERE MOSTLY SLOW CITY MILES. MY 9 YEAR OLD SON AND I TOOK A TRIP UP NORTH TO SD. ON OUR FIRST DAY OUT APPROX. 70 MILES AWAY FORM THE BORDER THE DRIVER SIDE TIRE'S TREAD FLEW OFF CAUSING MY 2000 NISSIAN TRUCK TO VERE IN FRONT OF AN ONCOMING SEMI TRUCK. WE AVOIDED THE COLLISION AND REMOVED THE DAMAGED TIRE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THAT IT HAS HAPPEND. THIS TIME WE WERE MOVING AT A SPEED OF 70 MILES PER HOUR AND THE TREAD CAME BACK ON THE TRUCK, SCRATCHED THE FRONT QUARTER PANEL WITH THE STEEL STICKING OUT, TORE OF THE METAL BAR HOLDING THE FENDER ON, TORE THE FENDER HALF WAY OFF AND DENTED THE UNDERSIDE OFTHE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. ABOUT A MONTH EARLER THE PASSANGER SIDE TIRE DID THE SAME THING. I WAS MOVING AT A LOWER RATE OF SPEED AND NO DAMAGE OCCURRED THAT TIME. THE NEXT DAY WE REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A USED ONE FROM A LOCAL TIRE SHOP AND CONTINUED OUR JOURNEY. TWO DAYS LATER ON OUR VACATION I LOST THE REAR PASSANGER TIRE IN THE SAME FASHION. WE AGAIN MADE IT TO A TIRE SHOP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE TIRE WITH A USED TIRE. BY THIS TIME SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME THAT THE FIRESTOEN TIRE WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THE REASON THAT THE TREAD COMES OFF. PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS THE CHEAP MODEL THAT DOES NOT GIVE THE CORRECT DISTANCE OF THE VEHICLE ON THAT SIDE. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A PERSON TO LOOK AT THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR (WHICH IS TRUE) THE INSIDE MIRROR (WHICH IS TRUE) AND THEN YOUR EYES HAVE TO CHANGE FOCUS BECAUSE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS LIKE LOOKING THROUGH A MICROSCOPE. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL DEMAND ON YOUR EYES AND VERY DANGEROUS AT THE FREEWAY HIGHT SPEEDS BECAUSE OF DESECPTIVE DISTANCE PERCEIVED AFTER LOOKING THROUGH LEFT SIDE OR INSIDE MIRROR. I AM ASKING FOR A RECALL OF ALL THESE CHEAP MIRRORS AND HAVE ALMOST HAD ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE DECEPTION OF THESE MIRRORS. AT THE COST OF THE VEHICLES THESE DAYS, THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PUT THIS CHEAP MIRROR AT A PLACE THAT IS VERY KEY TO TODAY'S DRIVERS SAFETY.

THE FUEL GAGE WOULD READ BETWEEN 1/2 AND 1/4 TANK. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT PICK UP FUEL IN THE TANK THUS THE MOTER WOULD SHUT OFF. THIS OCCURED FOUR TIME ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS, ( 58 IN CALF, 15 IN LAS VEGAS, 40 IN ARIZONA). THE TRUCK WAS IN THE DEALER FOUR TIMES, UPON THE FIFTH OCCURANCE THE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF LIFE, DUE TO A CLASS 3 ACCIDENT, IS TOO GREAT. THE RUNNING OUT OF GAS OCCURED IN TRAFIC AND WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS BEHIND US. I'M JUST GLAD THEY LOCKED UP THERE BRAKES AND WE WERE NOT HIT AND KILLED. I HAVE A 4 PAGE REPORT IF YOU WOULD LIKE A COPY. THE GENERAL MANGER OF UNITED GOT A COPY,( DON FORMAN), THE REGIONAL MGR (HELENA)HAS BEEN INFORMED. NOTHING FROM HER OR THE 1 800 NOMBER FROM NISSAN. THE STRESS HAS TAKEN IT'S MARKS ON US.

I WAS ON YAHOO.COM IN A CLUB FOR THE SPECIFIC VEHICLE I HAVE AND ALOT OF OTHER OWNERS ADVISED FOR EVERYONE CHECK THEIR DRIVESHAFT CARRIER BEARING TO SEE WHAT TYPY EVERYONE HAD, WHETHER IT BE A SOLID TYPE OR THE 3 PRONG TYPE. THE 3 PRONG TYPE WAS WHAT WENT BAD ON THE VEHICLE, THE BOTTOM RUBBER PRONG WOULD POP OUT OF THE METAL CASING ENCLOSING THE BEARING; THEREFORE CAUSING THE DRIVESHAFT TO SHIFT AND COME OUT OF PLACE. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE OVER 35 DAYS NOW. I TOOK IT INTO MY DEALER AND THEY VERIFIED IT WAS BAD AND HAD TO ORDER ANOTHER DRIVESHAFT SIMPLY DUE TO THIS DRIVESHAFT CARRIER BEARING.I BELIEVE THE NEW 2001 NISSAN FRONTIER IS COMING WITH A ONE PIECE DRIVESHAFT, UNLIKE THE 200 WITH A TWO PIECE DRIVESHAFT. I BELIEVE THAT THE ONE PIECE WOULD RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE ANOTHER OWNER HAS HAD TO HAVE THREE DRIVESHAFTS NOW AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURING. THE ONE PIECE I FEEL WOULD "FIX" THE PROBLEM WE OWNERS ARE HAVING.

THE IDLE SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT SOONER OR LATER. THE IDLE IS VERY ERRATIC, QUITE OFTEN STICKING AT 2000 RPM OR HIGHER FOR PROLONGED PERIODS, EVEN WITH THE FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR. I HAVE SEEN THE SAME PROBLEM REPORTED IN SEVERAL USER GROUPS ON THE INTERNET.

MY CONCERN ABOUT IDLE IS NOT DUE TO ANY DEFECT IN THE WAY VEHICLE WAS BUILT - THIS CONDITION IS NORMAL AND CHARACTERISTIC OF VEHICLE. I AM UNSATISFIELD WITH THIS RESPONSE - SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALER HAVE NOT SOLVED THIS PROBLEM. 1500 RPM'S IN THIRD GEAR IS 25 MPH AND IN FOURTH GEAR IT IS 30 MPH.
