The contact owns a 2009 Lincoln MKX. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, there was an abnormal sound coming from the front passenger’s side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the engine power reduced message was displayed and the wrench warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to allow the engine to cool down. The contact removed the oil cap and stated that the engine oil looked like chocolate milk. The contact took the vehicle Precision Tune to get the oil changed and was informed there was a major coolant leak. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was informed to call the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.

8/31/22 While I am driving, at 25 miles per hour in my neighborhood, or 45 mph through town, or 65 mph on the freeway, without any warning there occasionally will be an EXTREMELY LOUD BANG!! I actually duck down and cover my head for fear a huge rock has come through the windshield. Or a double-barreled shotgun was aimed at my car, or a major jetliner had fallen out of the sky and landed on my roof. Only to look up and see no damage whatsoever, but the shrill, high pitched ring piercing my ears. The radio won't respond, the gps won't respond, the heater or AC won't respond. The sound continues for as long as it takes to get to my destination. When I return to my car the next time, EVERYTHING WORKS FINE, and no high pitched ring. I have seen others' notes on this topic say it is the radio/speakers. This BANG occurs for me even when I am NOT using the radio or media. However, my cell phone auto connects each time I turn on the engine. I will today 8/31/22 disconnect my cell phone and see if the bluetooth makes this terrible connection. I see no evidence that anyone has found a repair for this. Also, other notes have stated they think this is related to temperatures above 73 F degrees. I have experienced this BANG at all temperatures. The latest time it occurred while I was in the middle of a left hand turn through a busy intersection with off-work traffic in all lanes, I almost went into the ditch!! No, there are no warning lights or sounds before this happens. No, I have not been able to reproduce this sound at will. YES, THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY PROBLEM. IF THE DRIVER'S HEAD IS DUCKING DOWN DURING THE BANG, WHO'S STEERING THE CAR? Please, someone, is there a fix?

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000.

Automatic transmission is slipping badly. Results in temporary loss of power & speed. Taking my foot off the gas pedal, for two-to-three seconds, seems to remedy the situation. It's quite scary losing control of the vehicle during that period. Below, I am identifying an "approximate date"; however, this issue has been ongoing for quite some time - At least one, perhaps two, years. A mechanic's remedy may be checking the transmission fluid, or having the fluid replaced. I ensure I keep the fluid at its' proper level and I'm not replacing the fluid. I don't believe any transmission fluid ever needs draining and replacing - I think that's a scam when it's suggested!

I AM AFRAID THE WILL GO OUT AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE BREAKS MAKE A RELEASED AIR SOUND AND IT IS HARD TO MAKE A COMPLETE STOP. SO I STOPPED DRIVING IT.

FORD IS AT FAULT FOR POORLY DESIGNING A $200 PART BEHIND A "TIMING CHAIN" WHICH REQUIRES REMOVAL BEFORE YOU CAN REACH THE FUEL PUMP TO REPLACE - COSTING THE CUSTOMER EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPAIR.

AS REPORTED IN FORBES MAGAZINE ON APRIL 24, 2018 THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING BRAKE FAILURES WITH LINCOLN MKZ 2006-2012 MODEL YEARS AFFECTING ONE MILLION SEDANS. THE LINCOLN MKX MODEL (CROSSOVER) I BELIEVE TO BE AFFECTED AS WELL. IN MY CASE, WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM HAS FAILED ON MANY OCCASIONS WHILE I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE WITH MY FAMILY INSIDE RESULTING IN SEVERAL NEAR REAR END COLLISIONS. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE ON THE 2009 LINCOLN MKX MODEL AS THE ABS COMPONENT IS ON BACKORDER AND A WAIT OF OVER 3 WEEKS IS REQUIRED. THIS IS A MONUMENTAL SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE AN INVESTIGATION OPENED IMMEDIATELY AND A RECALL ISSUED ON THESE VEHICLES.

NO CALLS FROM THE COMPANY. I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES DURING THE LAST SIX MONTHS, STILL PARTS NOT AVAILABLE. LINCOLN SENT AN UPDATE IN MAY 2018 THAT WE COULD RENT A VEHICLE UP TO $45 PER DAY. I DO NOT WANT TO RENT A VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY FOR AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF MONTHS. I HAVE FINISHED PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE KILLED MY FAMILY. WHY IS IT TAKING SO LONG FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN? THE CAR WOULD BRAKE AS I WAS MAKING A TURN WHILE I GIVING IT GAS TO TURN. HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES WHILE I WAS TURNING ON A MAIN ROAD. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE THREATENING EVENT. IMAGINE A CAR COMING AT YOU AND YOUR GAS PEDAL IS NOT RESPONDING WHILE AT THE SAME TIME YOUR CAR IS BRAKING. A VERY SCARY SCENARIO. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID BRAKES NEED CALIBRATION AND THAT I NEEDED NEW BRAKES. I SAID SURE.I ASKED IS THAT NORMAL FOR A CAR TO DO THAT WHEN BRAKES WEAR OUT . THEY SAID NO AND TESTED THE & FOUND NO ISSUES. I PAID FOR THE BRAKE REPLACEMENTS. 3 MONTHS GO BY AND THE SAME THING. TOOK BACK TO DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE BUT THE BRAKES WERE FINE. I STRESSED THE PROBLEM OF MOISTURE( RAIN & SNOW) WHEN THIS OCCURS. THIS OCCURS WHEN I FIRST START DRIVING THE CAR UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS. HAPPENS ONCE AND THEN I AM FINE FOR THE OF THE DRIVE. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING TO ME. I HAVE CONTACTED THE LINCOLN HEADQUARTERS & ALL I HEAR IS TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. BUT NO SOLUTION. I EVEN FOUND PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS ON GOOGLE AND PRINTED THEM & SHOWED TO THE DEALER. I DID NOT GET ANY HELP. ALL I GOT WAS THAT WE CANT DUPLICATE IT.. THERE WERE NO EXTRANEOUS VARIABLES LEADING TO THE REAR WINDOW EXPLOSION. THE POLICE WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY CONTACT ENTRY OR EVIDENCE OF VANDALISM AND INDICATED IT WAS POSSIBLY DEFECTIVE GLASS. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT INVESTIGATE THE POSSIBILITY OF PREVIOUS STRESS CRACKS OR DESIGN DEFECTS, ALTHOUGH THEY ADMITTED THAT THIS CLASS OF VEHICLE HAS SEVERE INTERNAL PRESSURE FLUCTUATIONS WHILE A REAR PASSENGER WINDOW IS OPEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND THIS WAS EXPERIENCED THE DAY BEFORE. THE GLASS SHATTERED WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED, WITH THE TEMPERATURE BEING BETWEEN 65 & 70F, WITH NOBODY IN IT. THERE WERE NO PRIOR ISSUES WITH THE GLASS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LINCOLN MKX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL RUMBLE WHEN ENGAGED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVEN TIMES WHERE THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED YET, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.

2009 LINCOLN MKX VEHICLE HAS DRIVER POWER SEAT THAT IS UNSTABLE AND ROCKS WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION THAT MAKES THE FOOT FALL OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN BRAKING. DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL. ANOTHER DEFECT IS THE SOUND SYSTEM WHILE IN USE CREATES A HORRENDOUS SOUND/BANG THAT SOUNDS LIKE AN ACCIDENT. THIS CAUSES A LOSS OF DRIVER ATTENTION AND DISTRACTION FROM TRAFFIC. DEALER SAYS THIS IS A DEFECT WITH NO FIX. *TR
