The contact stated that the vehicle then failed to exceed 35 MPH. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 119,000.

THE FIRST THING THAT HAPPENED WAS THE AC STOPPED WORKING AND REPLACED THE RESISTOR IN IT TWICE, THE SAME DAY IT WENT OUT A SECOND TIME THE BACK DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL. THE NEXT WEEK I WAS DRIVING HOME AND WAS ENTERING THE FREEWAY AND AS I ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE JERKED HARD AND PULLED BACK, AND WAS MAKING A SQUEAKING SOUND. IT CORRECTED BUT NOW IT KEEPS DOING IT. AND THE BRAKE FLUID A WEEK LATER LEAKED OUT AND I LOST POWER IN MY BRAKES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR!

TO START VEHILCE TWO WIRES HAD TO BE CONNECTED TOGETHER.TRANSMISSION NOT FUNCTIONABLE, STARTING PROBLEM, BRAKE PROBLEM AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. CONTACTED DEALER AND DEALER DENIED ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. I HAD A MECHANIC VERIFY ALL PROBLEMS NOTED ABOVE TWO DAYS LATER.. RELAYED THE INFORMATION TO THE DEALERSHIP AND NOTHING WAS RESOLVED.

IN OCTOBER 2013 WHILE I TOOK MY CAR TO A PRIVATE GARAGE FOR OIL CHANGE. THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE FRAME ON MY VEHICLE WAS ROTTED OUT . HE CALLED ME INTO THE GARAGE AND SHOWED ME THE PROBLEM. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE LAND ROVER DEALERSHIP WERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AND THEY HAVE BEEN DOING THE SERVICE ON THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NEW . I INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE ISSUE AND I QUESTIONED THE FACT THAT NO ONE AT THE DEALERSHIP EVER MENTIONED THE RUST ISSUE ON MY VEHICLE. THE SERVICE MANAGER ASKED ME TO DRIVE UP TO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN TAKE A LOOK AT IT. ONCE AT THE DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE MANAGER PUT UP THE CAR ON THE LIFT AND WAS SHOCKED TO SEE HOW BAD THINGS WERE. I CALLED MY DAD OVER WHO IS A MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED IT WAS MAYBE THE BATTERY.I ENDED UP CALLING ON M ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A SHOP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AND GET FIXED. THE MECHANIC AFTER A WEEK TOLD ME ABOUT MULTIPLE SCENARIOS IT COULD BE. AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY THE CAR WAS ABLE TO START AND I DROVE IT TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION. THIS MECHANIC ADVISED ME TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH AND I DID AND NOW AFTER TWO MONTHS THE VEHICLE WILL STILL NOT START! SO THEN I LOOKED ONLINE SEARCHING FOR AN ANSWER AND THAT WHEN I DISCOVERED PAGE AFTER PAGE OF PEOPLE ONLINE POSTING IN FORUMS LOOKING FOR ANSWERS TO THE SAME ISSUES WITH THERE 03 RANGE ROVER ,WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUES SOUNDS MECHANICS TELLING THEM THE SAME DIAGNOSIS! I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION AFTER TALKING TO RANGE ROVER DIRECTLY THAT AFTER RUNNING MY VIN THE STEERING COLUMN HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED BEFORE WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER!. AND ON THE FORUMS PEOPLE WERE SAYING THAT THEY DID THE SAME REPLACEMENTS OF PARTS AND IT EITHER WORKED IN SOME CASES OR OTHERS THE PROBLEM CAME BACK! VARIABLE HEIGHT SUSPENSION SYSTEM SWITCHES FROM LOW TO HIGH ON ITS OWN AND CREATES A GREATER RISK FOR ROLL OVER. THE BRACKET THAT HELD THE TELESCOPING MOTOR WIRES TOGETHER FRACTURED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ADJUST THE STEERING WHEEL FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TELESCOPING MOTOR FELL BEHIND THE BRAKES AND CAUSED THE BRAKES TO NOT FULLY ENGAGE WHEN BEING DEPRESSED. I WAS DRIVING MY 2003 RANGE ROVER THAT I JUST BOUGHT USED 2 WEEKS EARLIER. AS I WAS DRIVING, THE CAR STARTED MAKING SEVERE GRINDING NOISES AND LOST POWER. I COULD NOT STEER THAT WELL AND WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I MANAGED TO GET BARELY ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. THIS EVENT WAS WITHOUT ANY WARNING AND THE CAR MADE THE WORST GRINDING NOISES IN THE WORLD. I HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECALL ON IT TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM, WHICH IS A FAILED DRIVESHAFT / AXLE / DIFFERENTIAL OPERATION. BECAUSE IT WAS RECALLED, I HAD IT TOWED TO LAND ROVER AND THEY ARE NOW SAYING THAT THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE AXLE IS REPAIRED, WHICH THEY SAY IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I BELIEVE IT IS PART OF THE RECALL AND THEY SHOULD BE COVERING THIS AT NO COST. I HAD MY CHILD IN THE CAR AND I THINK THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. ALSO, WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN COSTA MESA, CA (HOUSE OF LUXURIES), THEY ASSURED ME THE CAR WAS TOTALLY CHECKED OUT AND HAD NO MECHANICAL OR OTHER ISSUES. NOW I AM VERY ANGRY WITH THEM FOR PLACING MY LIFE (AND OTHERS) AND MY CHILD'S LIFE IN DANGER BY NOT DISCLOSING THESE PROBLEMS, OR AT LEAST TELLING ME THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECALL AND TO REPAIR IT BEFORE I DRIVE. I HAVE A 2003, RANGE ROVER HSE. THE AIR SUSPENSION INACTIVE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE WHEELS SHOOK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN (12/29/08). THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED AN ALIGNMENT. I GOT THE ALIGNMENT AND THEY CLEARED THE WARNING LIGHT (1/2/09). I LEFT AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE STILL FELT OUT OF ALIGNED. LATER THE WARNING LIGHT (AIR SUSPENSION INACTIVE) CAME ON ONCE AGAIN (1/15/09). THIS TIME THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL FAILED TO RAISE UP. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK IN. THIS TIME THEY TOLD ME THE AIR SUSPENSION WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT COST ME $2900 (1/22/09). I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE WHEELS STILL SHOOK. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSED TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IN. RECENTLY, THE WARNING LIGHT (AIR SUSPENSION INACTIVE) ILLUMINATED ONCE AGAIN AND NONE OF THE WHEELS WOULD RAISE (2/22/09). I HAD TO HAVE MY 2003 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER REPAIRED FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM IN DECEMBER, 2007. THE DEALER WANTED MUCH MORE THAN WHAT I HAD PAID FOR PER THE ATTACHED REPAIR BILL FROM EURO CAR. WHEN I RECEIVED THIS LETTER, I CALLED LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO GO THROUGH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO GET REIMBURSED. I WENT TO WWW.LANDROVERUSA.COM PER THE RECALL LETTER AND THEY SHOW THAT PLAZA LAND ROVER ST. LOUIS, 11830 OLIVE STREET ROAD, ST. LOUIS, MO 63141 IS THE ONLY RETAILER HERE IN ST. LOUIS. I CALLED THEM AND THEY REFUSED TO SUBMIT ANY PAPERWORK BECAUSE I DID NOT GET IT REPAIRED THERE. I FIND THIS VERY UNACCEPTABLE AS ST. LOUIS IS A HUGE METROPOLITAN AREA AND I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT PLAZA MOTORS SHOULD HAVE SOLE CLAIM ON GETTING A RANGE ROVER FIXED IN ORDER TO GET REIMBURSEMENT FOR RECALL NOTICES. WHENEVER SHE TURNED ON THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, WHICH STATED "COOLING TEMPERATURE". WHEN THE CONTACT ADDED WATER, IT WOULD LEAK OUT. THE CONTACT EVENTUALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AND THEY STATED THAT THE RADIATOR WAS LEAKING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED, BUT THE SUSPENSION WOULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LEAN TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT DRIVE FORWARD IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THE DEALER STATED THAT AN AIR BAG LEAK CAUSED THE SUSPENSION TO MALFUNCTION. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED A YEAR LATER ON THE OTHER SIDE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP FOR A SUSPENSION ISSUE. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT HER 2003 VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING SO MANY FAILURES. MY SON WAS DRIVING ON THE 105 FREEWAY IN THE CARPOOL LANE WHEN MY 2003 RANGE ROVER SUDDENLY MADE METAL NOISES AND FAILED. HE NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING HIT AND WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE. FRONT DRIVE SHAFT AND DIFFERENTIAL OR SLIP DIFFERENTIAL WAS TO BLAME. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED BY LAND ROVER DURING MY SERVICE IN MAY 2004 DUE TO MANY COMPLAINTS OF FAILURE AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPING EVEN AT HIGH FREEWAY SPEED. WITH THE HELP OF POLICE AND AAA, MY CAR WAS TOWED TO NEAREST RANGE ROVER AUTHORIZED MECHANIC IN CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA. SINCE MY CAR ONLY RECENTLY CROSSED 40,000 MILES, IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. COST TO FIX WAS $2700. WE CALLED LAND ROVER TO COMPLAIN THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF IT WAS ALREADY FIXED. THEY WANTED MY CAR TO BE TOWED TO THOUSAND OAKS DEALER SINCE THAT'S WHERE THE ORIGINAL FIX TOOK PLACE IN MAY 2004. LAND ROVER OF NORTH AMERICA INFORMED US THEY WOULD PAY FOR A PORTION OF THE REPAIRS AND THE BALANCE OF $600 WOULD BE OUR RESPONSIBILITY. AFTER MUCH INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET AND DISCUSSIONS WITH OTHER RANGE ROVER OWNERS, I DISCOVERED THAT THE SO-CALLED FIX WAS JUST A MODIFIED FIX SO IT WOULD LAST TILL AFTER 40,000 MILES AND NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND MY SON COULD HAVE BEEN BADLY INJURED AS HE HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TRICOUNTY TRANSMISSION IN CLACKAMAS OREGON FOR REPAIR WHERE THEY HAD ANOTHER RANGE ROVER ON THE HOIST WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ORDERED A DRIVE SHAFT AND TOLD US THAT THE YOKE HAD SLIGHT WEAR FROM THE STRIPPED DRIVESHAFT BUT DID NOT NEED REPLACING. THE TOTAL WAS BETWEEN $700 AND $800. I HAVE A RANGE ROVER. I WAS IN NEW JERSEY ON THE APPROACH HIGHWAY TO THE LINCOLN TUNNEL TRAVELING AROUND 50 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I NOTICED A BUMPING NOISE AND RHYTHMIC PULLING SENSATION AS IF I HAD A FLAT TIRE OR HAD PICKED UP SOMETHING THAT WAS DRAGGING AGAINST THE WHEEL. THEN THE CAR SLOWED AND AN "ENGAGE NEUTRAL" SIGNAL FLASHED ON THE DISPLAY. I MANAGED TO PULL ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WHEN I TRIED TO ENGAGE DRIVE AGAIN I GOT A WHINING NOISE AND THE CAR TRIED TO DO A NOSE DIVE. BECAUSE OF THE VOLUME AND SPEED OF THE TRAFFIC, I WAS LUCKY NOT TO CAUSE, AND BE IN THE MIDDLE OF, A MAJOR PILE-UP. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE MANHATTAN LAND ROVER DEALERSHIP. WITHOUT ANY WARNING, I STARTED TO HEAR A "METAL-ON-METAL" LOUD GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS MOVING FORWARD, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED OR WHETHER IT WAS IN DRIVE OR NEUTRAL. THIS WAS IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO MY LAND ROVER DEALERSHIP IN WARWICK, RI. LAND ROVER ADVISED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. SO, IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE DIAGNOSED. IT HAD FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND DRIVE SHAFT FAILURE. PREVIOUSLY, LAND ROVER HAD INSPECTED THIS FRONT DRIVE SHAFT AND DIFFERENTIAL UNDER A LAND ROVER TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, TO PREVENT THE DRIVE SHAFT AND DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN THE FAILURE ULTIMATELY OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AND IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. COST TO FIX BY THE DEALERSHIP WAS $2,700. THE DEALERSHIP AND LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA (INCLUDING APPEALS BOARD) REFUSED TO PROVIDE OUT OF WARRANTY ASSISTANCE EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ALL WELL-AWARE OF THIS SYSTEMATIC FAILURE FOR 2003 RANGE ROVERS. THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THIS FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING IN LOS ANGELES ON THE VERY BUSY 405 FWY DURING THE LABOR DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND. I WAS GOING ALMOST 70 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR LOST ITS POWER AND BEGAN TO MAKE A METAL TO METAL GRINDING NOISE. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE FWY WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. ONCE SAFE FROM TRAFFIC, I CALLED MY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WHICH DISPATCHED A TOW TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO DIRECTED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. HE NOTIFIED ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THIS PART WAS RECALLED. ALTHOUGH MY TRUCK HAS 55K MILES AND THE WARRANTY HAS JUST EXPIRED, I CALLED LAND ROVER USA AND SPOKE WITH A CUSTOMER CARE REP. I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 RANGE ROVER. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERS LOT TO MY HOME, I DECIDED TO TAKE MY FIANCE FOR A DRIVE. I DROVE DOWN A FAIRLY BUSY HIGHWAY WHICH IS LESS THAN ONE MILE FROM MY HOME. AS I PROCEEDED DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND BECAME IMMOBILE. LUCKILY, TRAFFIC WAS NOT EXTREMELY HEAVY AND OTHER DRIVERS ALLOWED ME TO DRIFT INTO THE MEDIAN. ONCE IN THE MEDIAN, I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO PLACE IT IN GEAR SO THAT I COULD DRIVE AGAIN BUT IT CONTINUED TO MAKE THIS GRINDING NOISE AND WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. THE POLICE SHOWED UP AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK SO THAT I COULD GET OFF OF THE BUSY HIGHWAY. I CALLED THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE CONCERNED THAT I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL EUROPEAN MECHANIC SHOP AND THE MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS SHOCKED AS TO WHY THIS HAPPENED, SINCE THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND THE DEALER IS A REPUTABLE BUSINESS. THE QUOTE FOR THIS WORK IS $5000 AND I WAS ASKED BY THE DEALER IF I COULD COME UP WITH A PORTION COST FOR THE REPAIRS. SINCE THE INCIDENT, I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS VEHICLE AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON INCIDENT AMONG OTHER RANGE ROVER OWNERS OF MODELS 2002 THROUGH 2006. IN MY FINDINGS, THIS APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW AND MECHANICAL ISSUE, NOT TO MENTION A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK CAME FOR IT, IT WAS IMMOVABLE ON IT'S OWN. THERE WAS NO PRE-WARNING TO THIS EVENT, THE TRUCK WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND LAND ROVER, I THOUGHT, FIXED THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN LAST WEEK IN TUCSON, ARIZONA. (MAY 06) THE TRUCK NOW HAS 55,000 MILES AND IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE LAND ROVER DEALERSHIP IN TUCSON WANTS ME TO PAY $800 TO COVER THE LABOR TO FIX IT, AND THEY BROUGHT THAT PRICE DOWN FROM $1400. I AM APPEALING TO LAND ROVER HEADQUARTERS, AS THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT WAS NOT FIXED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF A NEW DIFFERENTIAL AND DRIVESHAFT THE FIRST TIME. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN JANUARY OF 2004 AND HAD 26,000 MILES ON MY CAR WHEN I EXPERIENCED A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND LOST POWER TO THE VEHICLES. THE MESSAGE CENTER TOLD ME TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. I WAS ON A HILL AND THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT HOLD . I ROLLED BACK INTO TRAFFIC ON THE OFF RAMP UNTIL I CAME TO A SOMEWHAT FLAT PART OF ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO HOLD. IT TOOK OVER TWO WEEK TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED LAND ROVER WOULD NOT RELEASE THE PARTS TO FIX MY VEHICLE. THE SECOND TIME HAPPENED ONE WEEK AFTER MY 60,000 MILE SERVICE. I DID THIS SERVICE EARLY. THE CAR HAD 58,000 MILES THE SECOND TIME THE DRIVE SHAFT AND FRONT DIFFERENTIAL DID THE SAME THING. I EXPERIENCED A LOUD GRINDING NOISE LIKE THE BOTTOM WAS FALLING OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS ONCE AGAIN TRAVELING AT ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE READ MANY REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHERS TWICE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEIR IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS OR A CHECK AT EACH SERVICE TO DETECT THIS DEFECT. BOTH TIMES I WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND PUT IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS POSITION WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO PREVENT OTHERS FROM THIS EXPERIENCE AND THE POTENTIAL DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES. *JB

BEARING FAILURE IN FRONT DIFFERENTIAL: NO EVENT LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. AS I WAS EMERGING FROM THE LINCOLN TUNNEL IN NYC WITH 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC ON EITHER SIDE, WITH OUT ANY WARNING MY CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD AND IF I PRESSED ON THE GAS I HEARD A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE. I WAS LUCKY AS I WAS NOT GOING VERY FAST AND WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE. IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY THERE IS A HIGH PROBABILITY THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS IF NOT FATAL ACCIDENT. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. RANGE ROVER MOUNT KISCO FIXED THE CAR AT NO CHARGE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER INCIDENCES LIKE THIS WITH OTHER 2003 RANGE ROVERS. I ASKED RANGE ROVER TO NOTIFY OWNERS OF 2003 RANGE ROVERS AND THEY TOLD ME THEY ARE ONLY RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THE AUTOMOBILE. I ASKED HOW MANY INCIDENTS THERE WERE REGARDING THE BEARING IN THE DIFFERENTIAL AXLE AND THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT KNOW AND NO ONE HAS THE STATISTICS. I CALLED RANGE ROVER NORTH AMERICA AND RECEIVED THE SAME ROBOTIC ANSWERS. IT APPEARS THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN DRIVER'S SAFETY BUT ONLY INTERESTED IN INSURING THEY MAKE MONEY AND ARE FREE OF ALL LIABILITIES. THEY REPEATEDLY ASKED IF I WAS HAPPY ABOUT THE SERVICE I RECEIVED. I KEPT TELLING THEM IT IS NOT ABOUT THE SERVICE OR ME. I AM HERE TO TELL WHAT HAPPENED AND TO TRY AND PREVENT SOMEONE ELSE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE NEXT PERSON MAY NOT HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TELL THEIR STORY. I WILL DO MY BEST TO MAKE RANGE ROVER AMERICA TAKE THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES SINCERELY. I STRONGLY FEEL RANGE ROVER SHOULD NOTIFY THE OWNERS OF 2003 RANGE ROVERS AND TELLING THEM TO KEEP THEIR WHEELS IN ALIGNMENT AND TO INSURE THE OWNERS KNOW OF THE RISKS INVOLVED. *JB

DRIVING ON I-280 AND THE CAR MADE A METAL-TO-METAL GRINDING NOISE (VERY LOUD), PULLED OVER TORWARDS THE NEXT EXIT (BARELY MADE IT TO THE MEDIAN) AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. OTHER THAN "PARK", THE CAR MADE A TERRIBLY LOUD GRINDING NOISE IN ALL GEARS AND SPORT MODE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE/DRIVE. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. TOLD THIS MORNING BY SERVICE ADVISER THAT SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE LAST TIME IN FOR SERVICE RE POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT. APPEARS FROM MY RESEARCH THAT TSB 540103 ISSUED 1/31/03 APPLIES PER CONVERSATION WITH DEALER'S SERVICE ADVISER. TRYING TO GET A COPY OF TSB NOW. ALSO, CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ON EVENING OF INCIDENT TO GET ASSISTANCE WITH REMOVING VEHICLE (AND MYSELF, WIFE AND DAUGHTER) FROM THE HIGHWAY MEDIAN. LAND ROVER COULD NOT LOCATE A TOW COMPANY TO ASSIST AND WE WERE FORCED TO CALL CHP AND SEEK THEIR ASSISTANCE IN GETTING A TOW AND PAYING THE SAME - IN OTHER WORDS, NO "ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE" REALLY EXISTED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. *AK

EXCESSIVE INNER TIRE WEAR, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL WHEN IT RAINS. UNSAFE SLIPPERY FEELING, AND VEHICLE SLIDING OFF THE ROAD ON THE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO REPAIR SHOP 4 TIMES, AND COULD NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. 3 SETS OF TIRES FOR EVERY 7 -10,000 MILES, AND DEALER ROTATED THEM. VEHICLE LOST CONTROL ON WET PAVEMENT. NOT NORMAL. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL RANGE ROVERS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE 2003. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY HAVE NOT COME BACK TO ME WITH A MEETING OR OTHERWISE. FRONT BALL JOINTS SWAY BARS,MANY FRONT END PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ,AND STILL NOT RESOLVED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY LOST POWER. CONSUMER PULLED TO THE SHOULDER OF INTERSTATE, AVOIDING ACCIDENTS. WHEN TAKEN TO GET SERVICED IT WAS DETERMINED THAT DRIVESHAFT SPLIT.*AK PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THE CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL AND THE FRONT SWAY BAR. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO MALFUNCTIONED PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, DOWNSHIFTING BY ITSELF AND THEN FAILING TO COME OUT OF THIRD GEAR FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. SHUTTERING SOUND FROM FRONT END AT SLOW SPEEDS. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO RECTIFY THE RATTLING PROBLEM BY REPLACING SEVERAL SUSPENSION AND STEERING COMPONENTS. FOUND LOW POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL DUE TO LEAKING INPUT SHAFT, REPLACED RACK AND PINION THEN PERFORMED 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. *BF *NM
