THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND REFERENCED RECALL 02V341000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM) BUT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE SUSPENSION SPLIT IN HALF DUE TO CORROSION AND THE LOWER CONTROL ARM COLLAPSED. HE WAS ABLE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND DROVE BACK INTO HIS DRIVEWAY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 02V341000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM). THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM ON THE RIGHT SIDE WAS REPLACED IN 2005 AND THE LEFT SIDE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS REPLACED IN AUGUST 8, 2006, AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER AND SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THERE WAS NO RECALL IN THE COMPANY DATABASE. THE CONTACT SHOWED THE SERVICE DEALER A COPY OF THE RECALL LETTER.

THERE IS NHTSA RECALL # 98V245000, REGARDING THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS. THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE REPLACED UNDER RECALL IN 1999 HOWEVER THE RECALL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN ALERTED AND NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON A 96 HYUNDAI ACCENT, RECEIVED LETTER IN MAIL ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO, TOOK CAR TO REPAIR CENTER AT THAT TIME TECH SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. ON JAN 30,2006 WAS DRIVING CAR AND FRONT CONTROL ARM SNAPPED PERTAINING TO THE RECALL THAT WAS DONE. CALLED HYUNDAI CORP WAS JUST TOLD TO WAIT FOR PAPER WORK AND INVESTIGATION EVEN THOUGH IF I WERE GOING AT A HIGH SPEED THE POLICE OFFICER SAID THE CAR COULD HAVE FLIPPED AND CAUSED MORE DAMAGE. I HOLD HYUNDAI CORP LIABLE FOR NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY DID THE RECALL, IT SEEM TO ME LIKE THEY WERE MORE WORRIED AT OFFERING ME MORE SERVICES AT FEE THEN ACTUALLY FIXING THE PROBLEM AT THE TIME I WAS A THE SHOP. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE IT BACK ON 1/9/2001 AND NO CODES FROM DIAGNOSTIC MACH. AND THE TECH SAW THAT A HOSE NEEDED CLEANING FOR THE ACCELERATOR STICKING. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL DROP OUT OF GEAR INTO NEUTRAL WHILE CAR IS IN DRIVE USUALLY AROUND 35 TO 40 MPH. THIS CONDITION DOES NOT REGISTER WHEN CAR IS ON ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTIC DEVICES. ON ATLEAST THREE OCCASIONS PRIOR TO THE FIRST, TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED. IT HAD BEEN PLACED ON A DEVICE, WITH NO PROBLEM FOUND. THE SECOND, SUPPOSEDLY NEW TRANSMISSION BEGAN HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE, AGAIN IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED BY MACHINE. BECAUSE NO ONE WANTED TO HELP I GAVE THE CAR UP. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR I WAS TOLD IT WAS NEW BY THE DEALERSHIP, IT TOOK THE HYUNDAI CORPORATION 2 YRS TO SEND ME A WARRENTY CARD AND PUT THE CAR IN MY NAME. WHEN THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM STARTED W/THE TRANSMISSION I FOUND OUT THAT THE CAR HAD PREVIOUSLY BELONGED TO SOMEONE IN CALIFORNIA WHO MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE SAME TROUBLE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR ACCENTS. ALSO TO NO AVAIL WITH THE COMPANY OR DEALERSHIPS. *AK
