The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly decelerated to 40 MPH and failed to properly accelerate. The check engine warning light was illuminated and there was a knocking sound coming from the engine. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, and the vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the residence and a mechanic, and the dealer inspected the vehicle and determined that there was a rod knock coming from connecting rod bearing wear which was referenced in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,744.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle decelerated and stalled while depressing the accelerator pedal. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. Neither an independent mechanic nor a dealer was contacted. The contact was able to pull over to the right side of the road, depressed the brake pedal, and turned off and restarted the vehicle after several seconds, and the vehicle operated as intended. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.
HONDA PILOT 2018 87K MILES DIAGNOSED WITH DTC P0741 TORQUE CONVERTER Vehicle has experienced severe and recurring drivability issues on more than one occasion during normal driving conditions. While attempting to change lanes, the vehicle exhibited delayed acceleration and loss of power. When accelerating from a stop sign, the vehicle bucked and lagged, followed by sudden and unintended forward propulsion. These events occurred without any warning lights or alerts. The unpredictable behavior of the vehicle has resulted in near‑miss accidents and required sudden braking and evasive actions to avoid potential collisions. This erratic behavior occurred without warning, reduced my ability to safely control the vehicle, and created a dangerous situation for my family, surrounding traffic and me. I opened a case with American Honda Motors (#16231734)and they stated that NHTSA is responsible for identifying the VINs that need to be part of the recall and/or Service Bulletin 23-078. I called NHTSA and NHTSA denied such claims.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with torque converter failure. The contact was informed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact referenced a TSB; however, the VIN was not associated. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 87,443.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The vehicle’s high-pressure fuel pump failed approximately one year after the low-pressure fuel pump was replaced under a manufacturer recall. The low-pressure pump had been identified as defective and replaced accordingly. Because the low-pressure pump is responsible for supplying fuel to the high-pressure pump, it is reasonable to believe the defective component may have placed abnormal stress on the high-pressure fuel pump prior to its replacement, potentially leading to premature failure. The failed high-pressure fuel pump is still in the vehicle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Failure of the high-pressure fuel pump can result in a sudden loss of fuel pressure to the engine, causing hesitation, loss of power, or engine stalling while the vehicle is in operation. This created a significant safety hazard, particularly as it occurred during highway driving, where sudden loss of propulsion occurred. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The issue was diagnosed and confirmed by a service center as a failed high-pressure fuel pump. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected by my personal mechanic who indicated fuel pump issues and noted recall then a Honda dealer during diagnosis but recall was for previously replaced low pressure pump and not the High pressure pump the issue has yet to be repaired. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Prior to the failure, the vehicle began experiencing noticeable fuel system performance issues, including reduced engine performance loss of MPG and drivability concerns. No lamps
Engine failure due to connecting rod bearing manufacturing defect (NHTSA PE25008). Component: engine; available for inspection upon request (replaced; documentation available). WARNING SYMPTOMS: At 94,000 miles during routine maintenance while under warranty, I reported engine knocking to the dealer. The advisor dismissed it as "normal valve noise" and did not document the complaint. Knocking progressively worsened over thousands of miles. FAILURE: At 100,750 miles the engine required immediate replacement. Dealer diagnosed rod bearing failure; bearing was worn and failing. Engine was replaced before catastrophic seizure. I had just returned from a family trip — seizure at highway speed would have caused loss of power, power steering, and braking assistance, creating serious crash risk. CONFIRMED: Dealer diagnosed and performed engine replacement. Honda provided partial goodwill coverage but refused to disclose the percentage or provide written documentation. When I formally requested full coverage for this defect under federal investigation, Honda stated the case was closed and refused to put the decision in writing. Honda recall 23V-751 addresses this defect but excluded this vehicle despite identical failure. Vehicle was maintained per Honda Maintenance Minder at dealerships.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle failed to accelerate, and the RPM became elevated. The vehicle lost motive power and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where a partial diagnosis was performed, and it was determined that there was a catastrophic failure in cylinder #3. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, a case was opened, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
This 2018 Honda Pilot has been taken to mechanic after a number of check engine and other dash lights came on while trying to accelerate to merge with freeway traffic. Mechanic pulled a P0369 code and I paid for replacement of the cam shaft sensor. Problems continued shortly after work and mechanic conducted further inspections and determined the sensor had been worn by a walking camshaft. There are hundreds of these same complaints posted on the web by angry customers dating back over 5 years yet no recall. The car will unexpectedly lose power at any time and shudder and will not accelerate with difficulty steering when all the engine lights start flashing. With luck, you can pull over to side of road. Repair is over $3500 after spending a lot of money already replacing the camshaft sensor which didn't fix the problem.
Driver side mirror has been vibrating since my purchase of the vehicle. Today the mirror glass has separated from the mirror housing while driving causing me to lose the ability to use this mirror. There is an open recall for the 2020-2021 production years of this vehicle for this same issue which should be extended to the include the 2016-2019 range as well.
I have taken this vehicle into the Honda dealership on five separate occasions to report a power transfer problem. I first visited the Honda dealership to report this problem on 9/2024. It hasn't been until my most recent visit on 12/18/25, that a customer service representative told me that my vehicle needed a new torque converter. It is available for inspection upon request. The first occasion when the vehicle caused a safety issue, we were preparing to make a left hand turn and the car jerked, the dash lights flashed, and the vehicle completely turned off. This was in the summer of 2024. We have had many smaller incidents leading up to this first occurrence but they haven't resulted in the vehicle completely shutting off. Most of the power transfer problems occur when we first back out of the driveway, put the car into drive, press down on the gas pedal, and there is no propulsion forward. This has occurred on a regular basis since the purchase of the vehicle. After two to three seconds the car jerks forward and then drives. This will also occasionally occur when we are stopped at a stop sign or at a traffic light waiting to propel forward or make a turn. Many of the safety issues occur when trying to make a turn with traffic, and there is no power to propel the vehicle forward. We have been fortunate to have the other vehicles slow to allow the Pilot to pause before moving forward. We now have to ensure there is a large distance before making a turn. We have had the dealership, Continental Honda of Anchorage, reproduce the lag problem, July 2025. Recently, we had a Transmission System Problem warning light come on the vehicle. We have also had a flashing P, R, D indicator light when the vehicle was in those gears. The Transmission System Problem light appeared on December 9th, then it reappeared on the 17th.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50-65 MPH, the vehicle jerked, and the message "Transmission Systems Failure" was displayed on the instrument panel. In addition, the transmission downshifted unexpectedly, and a short while later shifted to normal drive and operated as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the torque converter clutch had failed; DTC: P0741. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had become progressively worse and occurred more frequently. The contact related the failure to TSB: 23-078; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Whining noise during acceleration in any gear, gets louder as acceleration advances
The front passenger seatbelt snapped into 2 pieces toward the floor. It is physically impossible for that portion of the seatbelt to get caught in the door that would weaken it. The only people who are in the vehicle since we bought it new from Honda are my wife and I who are both in our 70's. The car is not abused and kids are never in it. This piece of metal should not have snapped and broken into two pieces. Honda told us that it was not under warranty and not their problem. We told them that this was a safety feature that should not have failed within this time period. I also have a 1994 Ford Pickup with the original flimsy seatbelts and they still operate like they were new. We believe that since this is a safety issue, it should have been covered by Honda. We are assuming that it was caused by faulty materials. We still have the broken seatbelt in case anyone wants to inspect it. We had to pay $993.89 to repair it. We are asking for assistance in recovering that cost.
Issue with Power Train caused car to go into limp/survival mode. Dealer found issue with power train sensor Code, error PO 369 CMP Sensor Interruption CMP Sensor Damaged. Mileage on care was 73,048. Had to replace power train at approx $ 3,646.00.
This car has had numerous transmission issues and a documented torque converter failure. Honda extended the warranty for 2018 pilots with these failures but did not include our vin number even though it’s the sane problem. They are refusing to fix it. This is a widespread issue and they are refusing to help us even though there are known manufacturing problems. The dealer hid this problem from us before the sale even though the code was documented in their system in Dec 2024 and we bought in May of 2025 reassured that it was a great car. Dealer refusing to fix it even with these records and hiding this from us and Honda corporate doesn’t care and said they only have to fix the ones that have certain vin numbers even though it’s the same problem and systemic. Rotten crooks endangering our family and ripping us off!
Camera unit failure causing failure of safety systems and resultant safety issues.
While driving, the vehicle just stopped. Tried to navigate to get to side of the road, but ended up stuck in the middle of the lane, in the middle of the road. My pilot also has some sort of lock, so I could not put it in neutral to be pushed out of oncoming traffic. Tried to jump start but the battery was fine. Road side assistance took 3 hours to come and tow us. Once at a dealership, diagnostics was run, starter was checked. But turns out the engine had ceased. The vehicle had randomly not started back up when the eco shut the car off when the brakes were pushed down, but this was extreme! Very dangerous! I regularly change my oil, only use synthetic oil and have my car serviced, fluids topped off. I have been on the wait list for the fuel recall, but Honda on Gilbert, in Gilbert, AZ does not answer calls, call back, or offer rentals for recalls. But this situation was scary and unacceptable. There is other recalls for the 2018 Honda Pilot for engines ceasing up. This is poor workmanship for Honda. Yes, this has been confirmed. My vehicle is currently had Honda Superstition Springs in Mesa, AZ, because I did not trust to go back to Honda Gilbert to timely correct the issues or communicate. Yes, You can inspect the vehicle. Engine ceasing while driving put my self and others at risk. No warnings.
Reporting recall for crankshaft connecting rod bearing and the fuel pump. Notified Jan. and Feb. 2024. Have called many times. "Never had the parts". "Not on the list to be called". "Recall not on list to be called". "No suitable appointment time available. Will call when they have one." Left messages. Have never gotten called! Frustrated. Almost 2 years. What do I do?? Seriously, do I need a lawyer or what. Lately the car seems to hesitate. Kind of a rocking sensation while driving. Is that from the fuel pump that should have been replaced more than a year ago?? Recall issued 11/9/2023
All warning lights triggered on by faulty rear view camera sensor making one unable to discern if there is a true issue with one of the systems
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that when the vehicle was cold-started, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The knocking sound was constant. The contact stated that the vehicle nearly stalled recently, and the check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was no longer able to accelerate above 35 MPH. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the connecting rods needed to be replaced, and the engine was inspected for internal damage. The contact stated that the independent mechanic checked the oil and observed that the oil was black and the oil level was low. The contact recently had an oil change prior to taking the vehicle to the independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact called a local dealer and was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 180,000.
While accelerating to merge onto the highway at 40-50 mph, the ~50K mile engine lost power and began to abruptly decelerate. All warning lights came on. The car was taken to the dealership where we were informed that the camshaft broke. Fortunately we were not struck or involved in an accident because of this but it was very dangerous and we were very lucky. There were not any warning indicators before this incident, but the car was taken to the dealership recently for a torque converter replacement per a recall. I am unsure if this repair contributed to excessive play that could have caused the camshaft failure.
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. Driving normally - no warning - vehicle shut down - dash warning lights went on after shut down. Fortunately, vehicle was through the intersection and on a side street - or this would have been a fatal accident. Towed to Honda Dealership - told engine needs to be replaced. Vehicle just out of warranty @ 106,000 miles. Have all paperwork on maintenance of vehicle - oil changes every 5,000 miles, etc. No indication prior to failure - not in accident - so no inspection by insurance/police.
On October 3, 2025, our 2018 Honda Pilot was being driven a short distance locally when all ability for acceleration was lost. Fortunately the driver was able to navigate off the road safely. The auto shop that checked the engine determined that it had seized up. The oil was properly maintained and the auto shop believed it had to do with a connecting rod bearing issue. The vehicle odometer is only 101,375 and had been in great working condition. This was a sudden occurrence with the only symptom being a slight rattling that started about 3 weeks prior. We don't have a need to drive this vehicle much (once or twice a week for very short distances), so I scheduled an appointment for the rattling sound to be looked at by my auto shop, but the engine seized a few days before the appointment date.
I am filing this complaint because Honda has acknowledged a torque converter defect in Service Bulletin 23-078 (dated August 31, 2023), which applies to 2017–2019 Pilots and Ridgelines equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission. The bulletin states that certain torque converters may have been manufactured outside proper specifications, causing cracks in the lock-up piston, pressure bleed-down, and eventual loss of clutch capacity. This failure is associated with diagnostic trouble code P0741 (“Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance / Stuck OFF”) and can result in shuddering, hesitation, loss of power during acceleration, or sudden and irregular transmission behavior — all of which create safety risks in traffic, merging, or highway conditions. My 2018 Honda Pilot meets all the published eligibility criteria: it is within 8 years of the original service date, has fewer than 150,000 miles, and has stored the DTC P0741. Despite this, both my dealership and Honda America have denied coverage, claiming my VIN “does not qualify.” While a goodwill request was filed on my behalf, I was informed that even if approved, I could still be expected to pay part of the repair. This denial is unacceptable given Honda’s recognition of the defect and effectively requires me to cover a repair of a faulty product that is necessary for safe operation of the vehicle. Because Honda has already issued a service bulletin acknowledging this defect and created a warranty extension for some vehicles, I urge NHTSA to investigate whether the defect is broader than Honda admits, and whether a recall or expanded coverage is warranted to ensure drivers like myself are not forced to operate unsafe vehicles due to VIN restrictions.
Driving to work on the freeway, all of a sudden acceleration stopped. Pulled over as warning lights came on due to transmission. Additionally, the check engine light appears randomly due to emission and also the “AWD” light comes on. Within a few days or even weeks it turns off. This has been on and off since we purchased the vehicle from CarMax.
[XXX] an Error Code "Emissions System Problem" came up. We brought to personal mechanic error code P0430 came up when they attached the code reader to the underside of the dashboard. Our mechanic told us we had to bring to Honda. Brought to Millenium Honda in NY, no code was in "system", they told us about recalls and fixed the recalls. We took the car on vacation and the light came on again while driving from NY to SC. Brought to Honda dealership to have looked at, code was off. My Honda Pilot 2018 is a modified vehicle with wheelchair ramp. It is in the recall list for Honda. Recall: swelling of fuel pump motor impeller, fuel pump may seize/stop working. Defective impeller may cause fuel pump inoperative, which could prevent engine from functioning. May cause a loss of motive power/stall while driving, increasing risk of crash or injury creating a safety hazard. -Replace the fuel pump motor. I contact the Honda dealer in San Jose, CA, but they were unable to perform Fuel Pump replacement due vehicle being modified. Tell me to find a dealer that specialize in accessible vehicle to removed cover on floor to access fuel pump then bring fuel pump to Honda for them to replace. DMV requires to perform recall to renew vehicle registration. I do not know which dealer I need to perform this recall.
I came to a stop at a red light on a busy street. Vehicle turned off due to autorignite feature. When light turned green it no longer would turn the engine on in order to go. All my lights turned on, I couldn't put the car in drive. I couldn't put in neutral, reverse or any feature. It wouldn't allow me to do anything but put the hazards on. It had happened to me 3 times since the same exact way. Only way to get it to go in drive is by turning the vehicle off completely, if it let's you. Then once it is off, starting it and going about your day. Codes do not register as I have taken to dealership before and they say it would note it but it doesn't and have refused to repair under the warranty. It also has an acceleration and deceleration issue that has been documented on my visits that has yet to be fixed as well and is a known problem but because it is is not the correct year and model it won't get fixed. I have had someone take video since then to show what happens on the other occasions as my proof since Honda Corporation themselves wouldn't doing anything either.
Leaking front shock, front differential, and transmission
Although I had the Honda taken in for the prior auto stop/start engine recall. The software fix has not solved the issue. While in traffic, even with the auto stop/start feature OFF, the engine will randomly turn off and it becomes a safety hazard as I’m blocking traffic scrambling to turn my engine back on, sometimes it is challenging to get the engine back on, and in the meantime cars are driving all around trying to get around me. This is ridiculous that Honda is doing the bare minimum to address what is clearly a huge liability for me as a driver and others in traffic.
Camshaft sensor failed. Car is not even 7 years old. I was told this issue is known in the Honda ridgelines. They say the camshaft has to much movement and damaging the sensor. Code P0369
The car is Less than 80,000 miles and all 6 fuel injectors are faulty and need replacing. As well as the fuel pump. Other Hondas have been recalled for the same issue but this make and model has not.
when honda service perfomed the recall repair on 12/12/2024. We notice that there is something wrong with the vehicle and we immediately report to Honda service and return the vehicle the following day for further diagnosis but the Honda service failed to resolved the issue until now. We spend out of pocket payment for their recommended repair @ parts replacement . With hopefull promises to resolved the issue but this resulted to more repairs and no guarantee in resolving the issue. And this delay of resolving the issue causing much more concern on our safety onto what will happened as this issue was not resolved
Auto idle system is faulty. I repeatedly experience a failure when this system is not turned off. It causes my engine to shut off when I step on the gas - or (mostly) it causes my car to almost shut off (the dashboard shuts off and flashes back on when I step on gas at a stop sign or other stops, also when I’m driving and accelerate there is a lag of nothing like the car almost turns off followed by a big jerk or jolt when it turns back on again. I’ve asked Honda dealer in town about this and they said it’s just the transmission and could get it replaced but now I see (via a class action suit I read about) that this is a big problem and it’s not just my personal issue with the car. I’m concerned someone will get hurt if these problems are not recalled and fixed by Honda.
Transmission hesitates upon acceleration from a stop, intermittently. Yes, available for inspection upon request. When pulling out into traffic it will roll out and then no response...catastrophic results if taking a left turn or pulling on to highway. The transmission will then jerk abruptly when more gas is added while you are trying desperately to get going. No, they deny it every time...at one point they reset the block learn saying it was the way we were driving. Inspected by dealership. CEL comes on with various warning messages and tech confirmed customer concern and scanned for codes. Codes were misfires on 4,5,6...and random. changed injectors etc. under extended warranty... The hesitation from stop has occured many times
I did mentioned this recall when I got my car I am having issues with acceleration, fuel pump . Car takes a bit long to take offline
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that the transmission warning light illuminated while driving above 70 MPH on the highway. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the warranty was extended but was declined due to the vehicle having a Salvage Title and a Rebuilt Title. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the issue had prevented her from renewing the vehicle registration in the State of California. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
On [XXX] we left Charleston, SC for Pittsburgh, PA. In Columbia, SC a maintenance light came on "Transmission System Problem". Soon after, another light read "Transmission Hot." I stopped at the next Exit where Precision Tune- 7000 Garner Ferry Rd, Columbia, SC was located. The shop determined the transmission overheated. I paid $1,105 to have the transmission fluid flushed (3x) and the Honda computer reset. The vehicle had 43K miles. The SUV ran fine for 1800 miles. About 100 miles on our return trip to Charleston at 10:00pm on [XXX] a light read "Transmission System Problem." On July 01, Precision Tune Columbia told me to take the SUV to Precision Tune Summerville. On July 03 I dropped off the vehicle. I spent $517.45 on a rental vehicle. On July 17 my SUV was returned. Precision kept my vehicle without servicing it until the 30 day warranty ran out. I contacted Honda Corporate and informed them there were multiple online forums of other 2018 Honda Pilot 6cyl owners reporting similar transmission issues noting the torque converter. A few months later the "Transmission System Problem" light came on again. Since July, 2024 I have only driven the SUV 5K miles and not out of Charleston. In June, 2025 I received a product recall advisory that the torque converter was a known issue with the model. On July 8, 2025 I dropped the SUV at Stokes Honda. I received a call that the transmission fluid is bad. Precision sent over the Carfax report. It has been a year and my vehicle with 50,750 miles is inoperable and no one will take responsibility. I have only purchased Hondas for 22 years. We have a small trip scheduled July 11-17 and I have had to rent another vehicle, costing another $500. I would like my SUV repaired by Honda under warranty extension as the issue is a known problem with this year, make, and model. My wife was in an accident where she struck a vehicle crossing an intersection in front of her. She believed she was traveling at between 25-30 mph. Following the accident, the Honda Pilot dash indicated a problem with the airbag. My wife suffered bruising across her chest and her hips from the belt. After extensive repairs, documents attached, the dash continued to display a fault with the airbag system that was subsequently addressed by a local Honda dealership.
The car unexpectedly sent out emissions failure systems warning Effecting the ability to accelerate without a pause in a forward movement. I had my mechanic diagnose the warning lights which indicate a connector rod issue. This diagnosis aligns with all of the symptoms. My mechanic warned me the engine could stop at any time. We will have the repair done this month. Honda put out a recall and stop production for this issue in March of 2024 but my car does not show up in the recall when I inquired to Honda about the issues I was experiencing. They basically said there is nothing for me to do.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 23V858000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) and 21V932000 (STRUCTURE, LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). The contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer, pending the repairs. The dealer informed the contact that all 6 fuel injectors had failed and needed to be replaced. However, while diagnosing the vehicle, the diagnostic tool failed to retrieve any fault codes. The dealer refused to replace the fuel injectors. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 72,100. Parts distribution disconnect.
My timing belt tensioner is making a ticking noise and while taking it to a mechanic he says it should be taken to the dealership and be replaced as well as the timing belt. I believe my vehicle should be included in the recall opened in 2019 for the timing belt inspection safety recall.
Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while attempting to register the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 98,423 and at the time of registration, it was discovered that the mileage was over 230,000.
About once a week now, the pilot fails to restart after the idle stop engages. I have a brand new battery installed and still have the same issue. Honda has applied all the remedies but I still have the same issue. I panic every time it does start because often times I’m in the middle of the 50mph road with hazards on. I’ve always been able to start it after putting the car in park, shutting al the way down and then restarting.
There is a popping noise when turning and hitting bumps and a slight clicking noise when driving. I am very unsure as to where the issue is coming from (CB axle, steering rack, ball joints, bushings, some say welds or loose bolts). I see many people online talking about this issue online. It needs to be addressed
Unfortunately, due to the extended delay in this repair, my vehicle has experienced significant mechanical problems, which I believe are directly related to the faulty fuel pump.Fuel Injector Contamination, Catalytic Converter Stress, Transmission Performance Issues
The "start/stop" function has always been an issue and also the response to acceleration. Luckily the start/stop failed at the mailbox in front of our home. The car shut off just like at a light but instead of picking back up upon acceleration, it completely died. We have had it shutter and slowly pick up in an intersection before but we have learned to really over exert the acceleration to complensate. We have had the fuel pump recalled but i dont think it fixed our problem. Luckily nobody has been hurt yet, but this is my wife and eight year old daugthers car. We have had multiple warning lamps "fixed" in the past, but there are currently no indicators on the dash.
• Several months ago my 2018 Honda Pilot with 80K miles started to have an engine "flutter" at 2500 to 3000 RPM • Serviced the vehicle several times and dealership couldn't find the issue • A few weeks ago the engine light started flashing and the engine started knocking • Had the car towed to a Holman Honda in Denver, who said the the motor is shot and needs to be replaced at $23,000 • The issue was rod bearing knock, which is usually associated with maintenance issue or improper oil • Honda has a recall on certain VINs but not on our VIN, plus all Acura MDX vehicles between 2016 and 2020 have the same engine and are recalled. • This could have been a sever safety risk because the engine could have seized during use or blown the engine • This appears to be a known Honda issue, but Honda is being selective on the recalls for the VINs
When we operate the car and stop at a red light or stop sign, but mostly at red lights on occasion and frequently, it will not restart automatically. Even attempts to restart the car do not always work on the first try and sometimes take multiple attempts before it eventually will restart. Create a road hazard as the car is unable to operate on a right of way with a green light for prolonged period The problem is this issue is not duplicatable and is very infrequent approximately three times in the past year. I'm taking it in for extended warranty, but the dealer cannot duplicate the problem.
There seal on the doors doesn’t hold up all the wind comes howling inside the car it’s so loud
The driver side sun visor quit staying up after just 1 year. It’s dangerous always stuck hanging halfway down.
Auto restart failed. Vehicle failed to move forward at a red light. Dash instructed to place vehicle on park then press the engine start-stop button hence restarting in the middle of the road presenting a safety hazard, cars behind me almost tail ending mine. People were honking and I couldn’t move fast enough. Why is the Honda dealer saying they will charge $222 to inspect to see if it’s a starter issue? Just fix the problem. I already had the system reset due to recall. This is a prevalent problem, shouldn’t it be inclusive to a recall. Also putting the customers at risk knowing its an issue is a huge problem. Start stop system would not restart vehicle. Came to a stop at a stoplight. Engine stopped with system engaged. Let go of brake to creep up in traffic and the engine did not restart. Warning on Dash told me to place vehicle in park and restart. It took a couple of tries to restart . The vehicle eventually did restart.
On at least four separate occasions the idle engine stop has failed to restart when the vehicle was stopped at an intersection. The car not only does not restart but it also won’t respond for some time to attempts to turn the car off (in park mode and brake applied) so that it can be restarted. We must try to remember to disengage the idle engine stop at each use of car to avoid this issue as there is no way to do that permanently without installing an aftermarket product.
See attached document for complaint.
The car shut down on its own, the only way to started was with a jumpers, doesn't turn on screen nor dash,, Also the ac fan relay stays on and doesn't shut down making the car to over heat

My Honda Pilot’s Sunroof exploded and sounded like a gunshot. Today March 30 while I was driving to pick up an order at Walmart around 7:50 pm. It wasn’t too windy, no cars were in front of me and suddenly I heard a big loud noise followed by wind blowing, my first thought was that I had a tire that popped but then when I checked the pressure on them and everything was fine after I got into the Walmart parking lot and parked. I was able to see the big hole in my sunroof. I do not understand how my sunroof suddenly shattered like that especially when it’s not that old now going on 7 years old and which is not my first Honda Pilot. My latest one was the first model: a 2003 Honda Pilot that last me for 14 years and never had any problems whatsoever with the sunroof.
EVAP Error Code for the capless gas cap error. you have to super careful when filling your car up with gas. Honda needs to fix this defective capless gas tank system. It is too fragile and requires an immense amount of work to repair for a regular old Joe.
Crank shaft rod bearing, engine needs to be replaced due to internal damage. Honda has recalled other VINs for 2018 Honda Pilot, but not mine. I am having the same problem as another recall already issued, and Honda is refusing to pay for engine replacement.

- Received error when driving that stated "Transmission System Problem." - Took into a service shop and the code P0741 was confirmed as the error. - Took to Honda Service repair, they confirmed the issue with the Torque Converter that needed to be replaced - Proceeded with the repairs at Honda (replacement of torque converter and replacement of 2 studs on catalytic converter that broke during their replacement of torque converter) - Informed there is a Warranty Extension for my Year/Make/Model on this torque converter as it has a known issue, however my VIN is not currently included in the Warranty Extension. My vehicle is in great condition with low mileage (approx 85K miles at time of repair), so I believe given the circumstances my VIN should be included in the Warranty Extension that currently exists for other VINs in my same Year/Make/Model as there was clearly a defect/issue with my torque converter as well. I have had a recall that the dealer has renegged on helping me with. About a couple of years ago we scheduled appointments, we missed work, showed up at the appointments for our two cars, only to be told that the parts are on back order. We keep getting the same response over and over. The last time I called a couple of weeks ago, the service department hung up on me. I called back and asked to have the Service Manager call me. He did not return my call. I have left message for the general manager, and he has NOT returned my calls. I need my recall remedied. My vehicle sometimes hesitates to start and has acceleration issues.
The car was placed in park, and somehow it rolled backwards into a gas station post causing serious damage. The very badly designed 9 speed transmission is designed to shift into park when the door is opened this is a safety feature that failed! My child could have been in there! It could have rolled back into the file pump! DANGEROUS! I have heard of others complaining this happened to them too. I have video evidence but I need to obtain it from the gas station it happened at.

In March of 2018, a recall came out for the electric motor and and mounting bracket on the driver side seat adjustment. We purchased this Pilot new in September of 2018. The seat motor has quit working, but we cannot find the recall anywhere. It seams to me like we should be able to get it recalled and get the motor and bracket replaced!!

There is an auto start/stop feature on my 2018 Honda Pilot. I’ve owned it new since July 2018. My wife and I have experienced the same issue both together and separately. The auto stop feature will engage with the break depressed, but the auto start function will not always engage when the break is released. This has left us stranded in the middle of intersections in the middle of left turns with oncoming traffic driving around us, stalled on the freeway with cars whizzing by us at 70+ MPH blocking the fast lane, blocking congested one lane roads with no recourse for drivers behinds to get around us, etc. This feature stops the engine but periodically does not allow it to turn back on. With the engine stopped by this feature, but not shifted to park/ neutral, pressing the ignition start/ stop button does nothing. Shifting to park, and pressing the ignition start/stop button significantly delays removing the road hazard now created by the vehicle’s now dangerous location. To further complicate the matter, the engine starting has, on many occasions, taken multiple minutes to start, endangering myself, my wife, my four children, and other family / friends on too many occasions to count. My local dealership recommended replacing the vehicles battery, even though I had no other battery related problems. I did, in fact, follow that recommendation, only to have the same problem persist. I have encouraged my wife to disengage this feature proceeding forward, but the feature automatically resets itself everyone the ignition is started. This becomes problematic if the feature is forgotten to be turned off or, due to placement of the features button, the feature is inadvertently re-engaged.

I have called about this recall at least three times. I brought it in to be serviced and told them that I felt like something was wrong with the car and that it did not feel like it was driving right like it wasn't getting power and sluggish. They assured me that my car would be given thew replacement part soon it's been over a year. I drive with my daughter on the highway 4 times a week. Two days before Christmas my car broke down. I was driving and it started to not shift properly and would stutter when I stepped on the gas to accelerate. The check transmission and emissions system sensors came on and I just barely made it into my parking lot at my apartment. It has several system warnings coming up and was not shifting right. It is now in the shop and they can't look at it for several days. I am just glad I was not on the Interstate highway when this happened.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the engine warning light Illuminated. The contact stated that there was a knocking sound coming from the engine while parking the vehicle at work. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 170,000.
I was driving on the highway, and the sensor stating the transmission is too hot popped up on the dashboard. This is an issue I have brought to Honda's attention on a few other occasions over the past three years, as this light has shown up before, but only when the outside temperatures had exceeded 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and I was driving at speeds of 55mph or more. I'd been told that since there was no active re-call, there was nothing they could do each time I reached out to Honda. Shortly after the light showed on the dashboard, I lost the ability to accelerate. I was pushing the gas pedal down, the RPM's were increasing, but my speed was decreasing. At that point, I decided it was best to exit at the upcoming Oasis, and before I could start to merge right, I heard a loud "pop" noise from presumably from the engine. Flames began to shoot out from under the hood on the driver-side. I merged over to the shoulder as quickly and safely as I could, grabbed my purse and exited the vehicle immediately. I then called 911, and while I was on the phone with dispatch, more loud "pops" occurred, growing the flames, until the car was completely engulfed in fire and black smoke. After a few minutes, the state police, EMT and South Holland FD arrived. The firefighters put the fire out, and the car was completely destroyed, resulting in a total loss of the vehicle.
Removed and replaced connecting rod bearings after engine knock noted and confirmed at Honda dealership during unrelated maintenance work. The mechanic noted wear and scoring on the connecting rod bearings and the engine knock went away after replacement. This could've resulted in catastrophic engine failure and loss of control while driving if unaddressed. This VIN was not covered under NHTSA recall 23V-751 related to connecting rod bearing failure but was in the same year / model groups. Request that the recall be widened to include a bigger range of vehicles.
My transmission failed although it was scanned a few weeks earlier indicating no issues with the transmission. I was lucky that the car failed once I stopped and wouldn't shift back into gear however it could have failed while driving. The car was driving fine and was slightly slow to engage, but I believe that was due to the fuel pump recall, which I could not have fixed because of a shortage of parts. My concern is that the transmission would have failed during my trip while driving over the mountains. It would have been really dangerous. There appear to be problems with the transmission in the 2018 Honda Pilots.
The back-up camera / navigation / infotainment screen is intermittently off. Without this screen one cannot get a camera view directly behind the car to back up, park, or see the rear position of the vehicle for loading and unloading. After visiting the dealership with an estimate of $2000 to $3000 for replacement, the message was clear they did not want to replace this part at a reasonable cost. On about 11/01/2023, this problem was taken to our dealership and it did re-occur at the dealership but does remain about 50% intermittent since the middle of 2023. When doing on-line searches, this must be a repeat problem for other Honda Pilot owners. Other manufacturers have implemented recalls for this same problem but not Honda to my knowledge. This vehicle now has about 60,000 miles on it; but this problem is a safety concern as well as a resale concern… but we would like to be able to keep it. This part seems to have been designed to be difficult to remove and replace with 5 separate cable connections, attached air vents, and without disassembling the two full panels across the full width of the dash. The dealer did remind us that this vehicle is out of warranty as well.

Transmission failed suddenly while on the highway. Engine light came on, and could not shift above first gear. Took to the Honda dealership where we purchased the vehicle (purchased new in 2018) and was told transmission failed and needed to be replaced. This is a 2018 Honda Pilot with only 35,000 miles on it with all routine maintenance done.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing engine hesitation while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the transmission fluid and the coolant were flushed. The contact was charged a service fee; however, the failure recurred while driving. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH on the third lane of an interstate with her children in the car seats in the rear seats, the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound. The vehicle decelerated to 35 MPH abruptly, causing the driver's and passengers' seat belts to retract. The contact immediately depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to exceed 40 MPH, nearly causing a crash. The contact activated the hazard lights and drove to her husband's shop. The contact's husband cleared the diagnostic trouble codes, and the vehicle accelerated as needed while driving; however, the vehicle shuddered, made abnormal sounds, the engine had a misfire, and the vehicle stalled while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated, and the message "Emission System Problem" was displayed. The local dealer was contacted, and the contact was in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The auto start and stop feature on my vehicle is not working. I called the dealer and they said they won't repair it. The recall for this issue is under investigation. When I have this feature on, and at a red light, my car turns off completely. I have to push to start over, but when I'm in drive and people are behind me waiting, it can be a safety issue because it frustrates cars behind me AND they creep up super close to my car. When this happens, and if a car is speed behind me, if I needed to make a quick safety decision to go and change lanes, i would be stuck a few extra seconds trying to put the car back in drive to make the lane change to avoid a potential accident. Sometimes people are on their phones and dont stop, but i check my rearview mirror, and move if needed. So, any delay is a safety risk.
This recall for the fuel pump has been outstanding for a year. The dealership insists parts are still not available. When will this be resolved?
My auto idle start/stop has been causing my engine to stall out when I come to a complete stop. I believe it started about a little more than a year ago. It doesn’t happen all the time and never happens when I remember to turn it off. I had it at the dealership multiple times mentioning about this problem and was dismissed every time. They told me they found nothing wrong and all codes were fine and nothing was popping up. Finally, someone tested my battery and found it wasn’t operating fully. I replaced the battery after be reassured this should fix the problem. It was fine for less than a year, maybe 6 months and then it started happening again back in mid/late July. This is a major safety concern and after reading online that many others are experiencing the same issue is causing me an even greater concern.

I purchased this 2018 Honda Pilot in spring of 2024. Two months after driving it, it started hesistating to restart after idling. At the end of July an emissions warking appeared on the dash and the car would not restart after idling a few times and I would literally have to restart the vehicle by putting it back in park. I took it back to the dealership and they said it was a gas fuel shutter and they repaired that. For a while it still hesitated to restart but it didn't completely shut off until this week week (Nov 2024). This fuel saving feature is a safety defect. It will hesistate to restart when it idles or it won't restart and the red error message to put it in park and restart shows on the dash which is a serious safety concern that I believe Honda knows about that I discovered today is currently in a lawsuit.
Vehicle lagging when and most of the time does not run right away when you press the gas several times. Whenever I'm in an intersection and am trying to cross to my left when cars are coming towards me, I push the gas slightly so I can see the road complete; when I'm certain that there is no car, I try to push the gas right away to cross the intersection when I do this the car would lag in the middle of the street and has caused me almost to get hit several times with my kids and a baby inside the vehicle. I had been to the dealer many times and explained this situation, but they always made me spend for something that did not fix the issue. I had to beg them many times and even called the corporation to do something about the recall with the fuel pump, but I was always dismissed and told to wait. It has been almost a year since this started happening today. I got an emission light on again and am scheduled to return on Wednesday. I am hoping to get the recall for my car fixed. Please help me investigate this matter. I don't want to be in an accident, especially since I drive with my toddler and two kids every day to and from school. Thank you
My car hesitates during acceleration, I received the recall for the fuel pump in February, called the dealer, they say they do not have parts, I called again in early November, and they say the same thing. I am afraid the pump isa going to go out when we are driving in Traffic, so I do not trust the vehicle. I can take the car to any repair shop and they will replace it in a day. Why can't the dealer replace it? They are slow-walking this recall while we take the risk. What can I do?

My vehicle has been in the Honda Dealership (Honda of Fort Worth and Norm Reeves Honda) with no resolution to the engine failure issues I have had since purchasing my vehicle. Mainly in the heat of the summer if I was in traffic idling, stopped at a red light or in stop and go traffic my car would shut off and hesitate to restart. The collision mitigation system would show failed. Honda could never find a solution. The last time I had it in their shop they said I needed a new battery. I bought a new battery from them but the problem continued. I believe my car is part of the engine recall.

I received a recall notice from Honda regarding the Safety Recall of the fuel pump module in May 2024. My local dealer just informed me that they have no idea when they will receive the replacement modules and they are receiving about two units per month at random intervals. If this is indeed a safety recall, I believe Honda should be making these units available for existing customers ahead of producing units for new, unsold vehicles. Thank you.

THE VEHICLE WHEN IN MOTION SUDDENLY TURNS OFF BY ITSELF PUTING ME AND OTHER DRIVERS AROUND IN DANGER. THEN, WHEN DRIVING THE STEERING FEELS LIKE LOOSING CONTROL. AND I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC TO CHECK ON IT AND HE DETECTED A STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM AND THERE'S NO WARNING LIGHTS. ALSO, MY CAR FEELS LIKE THE GASOLINE DOESN'T FLOW PROPERLY. CAR LOOSES SPEED AND START SHAKING WHEN TRYING TO PUMP GAS WITH PEDALS. MY CAR HAS ONLY 100,000 MILES AND THIS CAR HAS GIVING ME PROBLEMS FROM THE BEGINNING. THE VISORS WERE SO HARD TO MOVE UP OR DOWN UNTIL THE DRIVER SIDE IS FULLU BROKEN AND TOO EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. HONDAS ARE NOT NUMBER ONE CARS LIKE THEY USE TO BE.
Warning lights for the ACC, LKAS and FCW have been blinking everyday. One day they just started blinking. I took to dealership and they said it's $180 to diagnose issue. I have seen 100s of pist of different forums about the issue which means it is a known problem. As of the last 6 months or so these features do not work on the car.
I've brought the car to the Honda Dealer located at 2400 N State Rd 7 Hollywood FL 33021 for over a year I have complained that the car jumps and that there is a few recalls on my vehicle. I was told that the part isn't available and they can't fix it but did not offer any remedies to this issue. The car will shut off on me while I'm driving and it's very dangerous. I've mentioned this to them many times but they only try to convince me to buy another car and get me to trade in my car and pay a deposit.

NHTSA Recall Number23V-858 Recall issued December 18, 2023. I have been on the waiting list to complete the repair at Yonkers Honda in Yonkers, NY, since May. I spoke to Yonkers Honda today, October 9, 2024, and Honda still has not provided replacement parts to dealers to complete the recall work, with no ETA.
I have attempted several times to schedule the Honda Pilot for the recall item to be replaced since May 2024. The Pacific Honda Service Center states they do not have the part to replace the fuel pump. I called again last week, and they said I can pay $179 to have the vehicle inspected and if the fuel pump is faulty then they will order the part. This is unacceptable.

When attempting to accelerate the vehicle does not respond and experiences a three to five second delay. The delayed response began occurring shortly after purchasing the vehicle in 2018 and has only increased in frequency. This issue appears to be systemic with this model and year and the dealership has no remedy to mitigate this safety issue / concern.

Honda informed me of the recall of my vehicle back in January 2024. I have tried to attempt to get this fixed at my local dealership. I was told they did not have parts and expected them in April. To date, I have not heard anything. I just took my vehicle in for service and was told they had no update as to when parts would become available for this recall. This recall happened because of the dangers that the faulty fuel pump presents to consumers and I'm not seeing enough to be done by Honda to rectify this in a reasonable timeframe. What happens if something happens to my vehicle or my safety as a result of Honda being unable to fix this defect?
In regards to TSB 23-078 Honda states that my VIN does not meet the parameters for service even though the dealer service techs are stating this is the issue. Since it is not a recall there is nothing they can do but recommend what the service dept wants to do, which is temporarily fix the problem. Which is bring the vehicle in for a transmission service every 20000 to 30000 mile for service at a cost of $500-600 to me. Which is less than half of the recommended interval. They have been treating the transmission with an additive up until this point.
The components of my vehicle that were affected is from the power train and emissions.Honda issued an TSB on August 2023 for this. The warning light on my vehicle is now illuminated. I have a DTC code P0471 stored on my vehicles computer and can no longer pass a smog chech without the problem being repaired. This issue has impacted my vehicles torque converter. When I drive at high speeds my car shakes and I get a warning that says transmission system problem. Also the transmission slips and has poor fuel mileage. Honda extended the warranty for this part because it is prone to failure. My vehicle was diagnosed at Gardena Honda on Sep 4,2024. The service advisers confirmed that my vehicle has the issue that the warranty was extended on. However, due to my vehicle having a salvage title they will not honor that warranty. This issue should have been recalled instead of extending the warranty. Other pilot owners may pose a serious risk to themselves and others as Honda failed to notify myself and other about the risks of having a defective part on the vehicle. I can no longer drive my vehicle because of the risk involved. The dealer quoted me $5000.00 to repair. Federal law requires car manufacturers to repair any issues that arise from emissions regardless of bad title. Honda refused to repair on 9/4/2024.

While driving my 2018 Honda Pilot I stopped in an intersection to make a turn and when I came to a complete stop my vehicle stopped running. Assuming it was the auto start/stop I released the brake and attempted to accelerate to complete my turn the vehicle failed to re-start and shuttered / stalled. I then could not get my vehicle to restart and had multiple warnings on my dash along with check engine light being lit. 1 of the errors showed "Emissions System Problem" as well as "Move vehicle to side of road and park". I could not get the vehicle to do anything even though it was already in parked from stalling out. I had to press Start/Stop button to turn my vehicle off completely for approx. 2 minutes and then was able to get vehicle restarted and then shifted to Drive to clear intersection. This has happened multiple times in different circumstances. I have had the vehicle back to Honda dealership twice and they said the do not see any issue or cannot get issue to repeat.
My 2018 Honda Pilot is part of a Safety Recall Notice per American Honda Motor Co. Inc. and is in regards to a defective fuel pump. Issues include engine not starting/stalling and check engine light illuminating. Over the past 3 years I have experienced the following symptoms with my 2018 Honda Pilot: 1.) The engine wouldn't start on several occasions 2.) My wife noted she was driving in parking lot when engine stalled 3.) Dash illuminates "EMISSIONS SYSTEMS PROBLEM/ CHECK ENGINE" On March 11, 2024 I took my vehicle to Honda of Pasadena and spoke to Svc Advisor Eddie and told him I am experiencing all of the above and is this covered under the safety recall? He stated he will have the Svc Tech inspect and let me know. Shortly thereafter I was told by Eddie that my issues are not related to said safety recall and charged me $720.45 in un-necessary repairs (none of which included replacing the faulty fuel pump). In response I filed a claim with Kassandra @ American Honda Motor Co., Inc (CASE# [XXX]), who reached out to dealer and ultimately denied my claim and noted issues are not related the Safety Recall. To date I have filed a BAR complaint which is pending and and I am currently driving said defective vehicle which is experiencing all the above safety issues: 1.) engine not starting and/or stalling 2.) "EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM/ CHECK ENGINE" light illuminates INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated while driving 75 MPH, the message stated that the transmission was overheating was displayed. The contact pulled over to the nearest exit to park the vehicle and allowed the engine to cool off. The contact then continued to drive; however, the message displayed after driving for a while, caused the contact to pull over and allow the engine to cool off again. The failure recurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to East Coast Honda (8756A US Highway 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588); where it was diagnosed and determined that the rotors needed to be replaced and the transmission fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The rotors had been replaced and the transmission was flushed and refilled. Approximately two weeks after receiving the repair, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine revved with an abnormally loud sound. The vehicle was taken to another dealer where the contact was informed that the failure was related to the recall; however, the part for the recall repair was not available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 66,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Sitting stopped at a red light. These messages with the check engine light start scrolling on the dashboard: TSA, Emissions system problem, stability control, EPS, etc. it kept changing. When trying to go in drive to he engine had reduced power and I had to get out of the intersection quickly. The code to show up when scanned was P0369 camshaft sensor. Had the vehicle towed to Honda dealership to find out that other pilots in my same year model have this issue but my specific VIN was not included in the recall LVM or the service bulletin 19-045 even though the same year model is included.

The original manufacturer windshield and the adhesive holding it to the body of the vehicle was improperly installed by the manufacturer allowing water to leak into the A-pillar of the driver's side down into the lower dash and foot well. Moisture and degradation of the factory installed windshield adhesive can cause electrical faults, mold, a loose windshield, and other issues that can disable the vehicle and/or cause bodily harm. The dealer noted and advised about the possibility of the adhesive degradation before the vehicle was inspected, which confirms this is a common issue with this vehicle. Upon inspection, they advised that the windshield adhesive was the issue. The issues/symptoms presented themselves during recent and prolonged rain events at which time it was reported to the nearest authorized dealer. The local dealer claims a crack in the windshield as the cause of the problems. Unfortunately, there are no cracks in the area where the leak is originating from. The vehicle leaks from the upper driver's side corner of the windshield, with the crack noted being on the lower mid section of the windshield. Water would not run up into the corner from where the adhesive leaks.

What component or system failed" ANSWER: Engine related to the known recall The hesitation is sporadic and unpredictable. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? ANSWER: Engine hesitation while getting on and off the highway materially increases the risk of an accident. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? ANSWER: No. After explaining the engine hesitation problem, Honda said we could bring it in and, for $300, perform testing to see if the current hesitation is related to the recall hesitation. However, the sporadic nature of the recurrence creates the uncertainty of replicating the problem and wasting our money. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by others? ANSWER: No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure? No CONCLUSION: We've called the national Honda tollfree and local dealership to explain the problem and request prioritization. Consistently, they decline our request, and can't advise when they'll have the parts to perform the recall repair. We believe this to be unreasonable. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this.
Unsure what component or system is failing. From purchase of vehicle, there has always been hesitation when accelerating from a stop. Vehicle was taken in several times while under warranty. On at least one occasion, dealership did not even address concern on paperwork. Dealership suggested on 2 occasions that transmission fluid was cause and needed changing. Transmission fluid change at 33,000 miles(when not needed) and also at 103,000 miles. Vehicle was taken in recently due to issue possibly being related to recall. Recall has been in effect since December and still no parts available to repair. Dealership indicated that issue was not apparent and that fluid change caused improvement on test drive. NO. Did not happen. Issue continues and has worsened over time. Driving this car is a risk, as there is so much hesitation at times that near accidents have happened. There have also been honks from others as I am trying to accelerate and it takes time.
Recall has been in effect since December 2023. Still no parts for repair. Vehicle hesitating. Took in to see if possibly due to fuel pump issue. Dealership states no. Suggested transmission change and indicated that test drive showed improvement. Did not happen. Not sure if the issue is related to recall but recall is taking way too long.
We were on a road trip to Gatlinburg from Brentwood TN. We were about a mile from our cabin when we saw a mama bear and cubs. We rolled down the window to take photos and my [XXX] smelled smoke. We didn’t see any smoke but thought maybe someone was burning brush or cooking out. We rolled up the windows and continued to drive for about thirty seconds when we saw smoke billowing out of the front hood. There were no warnings on my dash of any problem. We jumped out and I saw a small ember under the front of the car. I called 911 and we started to run, the car quickly went up in flames and then exploded before fire department arrived. We lost everything inside and are grateful to be alive. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have been waiting since March for the fuel pump recall replacement and am now experiencing transmission issues. Vehicle lurching repeatedly and all light indicators came on. Honda is recommending replacement of cam shaft, thrust cover, and position sensor but still has yet to replace fuel pump recall. Vehicle only has 68k miles on it and has all required maintenance completed at dealer.
This is an ongoing issue that I am having with my vehicle that I believe is related to the Fuel Pump Recall. While driving down the road my vehicle will suddenly hesitate then re-engage causing severe hesitation then acceleration. This happens randomly and without warning. I called my local Honda dealer to explain that I need to bring my vehicle in for the recall, and they told me there is nothing they can do until possibly September 2024. It was then further explained that this issue if and when it is fixed would not be free of charge. I am having a hard time understanding why a recall was issued if the manufacturer has not intention of fixing this issue. It explains in the recall how it can be dangerous to drive the vehicle if issues are being experienced, so not sure what my options are at this point. The manufacturer needs to be held accountable for this and not me.
Honda has sent me two notices that the fuel pump needs to be replaced on some vehicles. The second notice said to call a dealer and schedule an appointment if your vehicle is having symptoms. My vehicle is having symptoms with scheduled an appointment with West Her Honda in Lockport NY. The dealer said I would need to pay a diagnostic fee of $180.00 at this appointment or wait until the fall, in October. I was told Honda will get back to me when to bring it in. So, my wife must drive this unsafe vehicle for five months unless I pay this fee. I asked the dealer if the test wasn't positive for a bad fuel pump what happens next. The girl I talked with at the dealership didn't have an answer.

We continue to experience stalling while driving our Honda Pilot exactly as described in the Recall. We took our vehicle to Honda, but because they were unable to duplicate our problem and this problem does not generate an error code, they sent us home without any repair. Honda has said they have limited parts to make the replacement, so they are holding parts at their HQ and not allocating any to dealers. So, we, like most other Honda Pilot owners, continue to have to drive vehicles that may be unsafe. When driving in traffic, our vehicle has lost power for several seconds, which can be dangerous if we are in a passing mode or needing power to maneuver safely. We ask the Traffic Safety Administration to engage with Honda to accelerate their processes to effect required repairs before we or others are injured. Thank you.
My 2018 Honda Pilot has a fuel injector recall. Per Honda, "Safety Consequence: An inoperable fuel pump could prevent an engine from starting, cause a vehicle to lose drive power, or stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury." - My car is hesitating with acceleration at low (20-25mph) along with (45-55mph). The RPMs do not stay steady and the car is hesitating to shift into gear. - I called Westbrook Honda, Westbrook, CT on [XXX] to inquire and was told I would know if the car was part of the recall because it will stall. - Unsatisfied, I took my car to Brandfon Honda, Branford, CT for diagnosis on [XXX] and was told by service that if it's an issue they will prioritize it since the part will not be available until Fall 2024. Brandfon Honda is advising 4 other recommendations to see if it will fix the problem versus addressing the fuel injector recall which points to what is the issue with the car (as advised by my independent auto shop) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle's auto stop/start function shut down power to the engine at an intersection and would not restart. The vehicle was unable to move at a busy intersection and would not manually restart either. A dealer or independent service center has not reproduced the problem, but I do see plenty of other cases on different automotive forums. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance, or others. There were no warning lights or other symptoms prior to the engine shut down. This has happened on more than one occasion and usually in the summer months when the A/C system is running. It doesn't seem to be an issue without the A/C running. Thank you

The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the failure could be related to the fuel injectors and the transmission. The TCM software was updated, and a transmission flush was performed; however, the failure persisted. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), and related the failure to the recall; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,155. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving or parked, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate as intended. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
This issue started last year upon purchasing my used Honda Pilot. The gas save mode that allows the engine to shut off at stops and restart does not work properly. Rather than the engine restarting, the car will instead shut down. Taking about 2-3 minutes to have to put the car in park and being able to restart after several attempts. The Pilot was taken to Honda last year where they did a computer upgrade. This issue happened again last week on 5/8/2024 and again this morning, 5/13/2024. This can cause a safety issue as the car is stopped at a stop sign or a light, and when traffic is trying to move, I am holding traffic up which may cause cars to attempt to go around or cause an accident. I need to know why this is happening and when Honda plans to have a solution.
I am experiencing a delay in acceleration. This can occur when I am completely stopped and press the gas, there is a delay (3-5 seconds) and then the car jerks forward and accelerates quickly. Or, when I've slowed down to almost a stop, begin a turn, step on the gas and it won't accelerate for a couple of seconds, almost causing an accident on several occasions. This occurs about once every 10-15 times I drive the vehicle. It's unpredictable.
Honda Of Rockwall Texas says this remedy is not available yet. But it clearly is.
The adaptive cruise control doesn't work for the vehicle in front of me but the vehicle on the side. It will slam on the brakes when there is no vehicle in front of me but with a vehicle on the side. Tbsi has almost caused numerous accidents. The automatic braking/forward Collison warning happens when a vehicle is passing me going the oposite direction.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle began to lose motive power. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but was unable to confirm when the part would be available. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
This vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall Number 23V-858. Four months after the recall announcement, our local Honda dealer does not have parts to perform the recall service nor has an ETA when they will have parts.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard an abnormal sound emanating from the engine compartment, after which the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the high-pressure fuel pump. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline), and the VIN was included, but parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have been to two Honda dealerships the last two months. Manufacturer has failed to remedy this safety recall in a timely manner.
Torque Converter - DTC P0741. I received 'Transmission System Problem' warning message. Took to the dealer and was told that it is Torque Converter issue. However, my VIN is not included in the extended warranty of 8 years or 150,000 miles. This is the same 2018 Honda Pilot and should be included in the warranty.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at 40-45 MPH, the vehicle lost power and regained motive power. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System and Gasoline) however the parts to repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair as the recall notice was received several months ago. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The contact stated when driving the vehicle, it stuttered and stalled. The automatic car start was inoperable. The check engine and the all wheel drive warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and stated a misfire code existed and that parts were not available. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer who performed a diagnostic as well, but stated the valve system needed to be flushed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. VIN tool confirms part not available.
for months Honda dealer has not yet resolved the two recalls indicating parts and instructions from Honda are not availalbe. Thus, the dealer is unable to resolve the recalls. This has been going on for months and is unacceptable. When the NHTSA issues a recall, why can't consumers get their recalls fixed ?
I bought the car three days prior to this event. On February 14, 2024, I reached into the third row to lower the seats and I pulled the black strap toward me like it says to do in the manual and the seat came down so hard it crushed my hand between the seat and the side of the car and broke my 5th metacarpal in 3 places. I had to have surgery 6 days later and had hardware put in my hand. Even the emergency room doctor said there is something wrong with my seat. This story is similar to the boy that got crushed in the third row seat and died. Why is this seat like this? I realize if this was a child it would be all over the news but I am an adult and our lives matter much less to the media.
The car since purchased was juddering between rpms, eventually the emissions and check engine light came on and prompted us to take to dealership. The dealership said this was part of a recall and both problems would be fixed at no cost and we would get an extended warranty on the parts and labor. That sounds great. The problem though is the pilot has been in the shop since January 29th! We have been given 4 different Eta's of when the part would come in and they all keep passing by! No end in sight.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while his partner was driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer and was diagnosed with a defective starter; however, the failure persisted after the starter was replaced. Upon further investigation, the contact was informed that the engine had failed due to a damaged connecting rod bearing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was offered a payment plan to help with the cost of a new engine. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which was linked to the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
Shortly after 60k warranty expired, check engine light came on. We went to dealer right away and were told the torque converter needed to be replaced to prevent permanent damage. The repair was quoted at over $2000.00. We left the car with service and contacted Honda corporate. They paid half, but still left us with bill over $1000.00. I have heard of this issue with other 2018 Pilots. We had the repair done and have not had any other problems, but we were told that, if this became a recall in the future, we could get our money back. There needs to be a recall done for torque converters on 2018 Pilots. Thank you.
I own a 2018 Honda Pilot (VIN number ending in [XXX] ) which was purchased from Perfection Honda on July 14, 2018. I am the only owner of the car and have taken the car to the dealer for all required maintenance services at the recommended time intervals. The car began stuttering after a stop on [XXX]. I took the car immediately to Perfection Honda and they stated that the issue was the front engine mount despite my concerns about the transmission. They replaced the front engine mount and flushed the transmission fluid and returned the car to me on [XXX]. The car had the same issue on [XXX] and I had to return the car to the dealer. Approximately one week later they stated that there was no issue and returned the car to me. On [XXX] the car had the same issue and had to be towed to the dealer. This time they stated it was the fuel pump, which had been recalled. They replaced the fuel pump and returned the car to me on [XXX]. On [XXX] the car had the same issue of stuttering upon acceleration from a stop and had to be towed again to the dealer. On [XXX] the service personnel called to inform me that a new transmission was needed. When the car first began experiencing the issue, I had had the car for five years and three months, three years of which had restricted driving due to the COVID shutdown in 2020 and in three months during 2021 when I was out of the country for travel. The car now has 57,380 miles. The issue began when the car had 54,079 miles. While there was fortunately no accident, the stalling after a stop and continued stuttering of the transmission is a significant safety issue. Each time I had my two children in the car with me and had to pull to the side of the road to avoid being rear ended. While other 2018 Honda Pilots have active transmission and engine recalls, my specific vehicle is not covered by those TSBs. Honda has stated that there are no active recalls on my vehicle. My Honda Pilot started making a rattling noise and at first I thought it was a shield coming loose. I checked for any loose shields but could not find one. After about a week the noise became increasingly louder and seem to increase with acceleration. So I took it into the dealership and they said that it was the fuel pump and there was a recall on them but no parts available. I took the car home and parked it for fear it would stall on the road and cause a wreck. After a couple of weeks and no part, I called Honda and asked them if I could get a part since my car was not drivable. They wouldn't give me a direct answer, but after a week a part came in for the recall. When the dealership replaced the recall part they said that the real problem was the high pressure fuel pump and it could of given me the same problem as the recall part. After checking NHTSA, I seen where similar Honda models with the same engine were having the same problem. It seems to me that the high pressure pump should be the one recalled.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to drive to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that a high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was not related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Honda contacted me to say parts are available to complete recall. Plymouth Honda stared no parts are available. Email is either not accurate or dealer doesn't have accurate information. Please work with Honda to contact customer base with accurate information.
When attempting to start the car's engine by pressing the start/stop button, it takes several times of pushing the button to start the engine and the dashboard displays a keyless start system error. There is a tech service bulletin for 2016 and 2017 models of the same car providing an extended warranty for customers to get free start/stop switch replacement. I took my car to a dealer and and they reproduced the problem. I was told it was not covered under the warranty. Why did Honda provide warranty and free replacement for previous model years but not for 2018 model that had the same problem? Please advise.
incident March 5th, 2023 speed approx. 30 M/hr when my MID lit up "PUT IN PARK" my Pilot slowed down on his own gas and brake pedal were frozen I heard some scraping and crunching noises and steering wheel was hard to move and engine shut off. That afternoon (Sunday) I made an appointment with Arrowhead Honda, 8380 W. Bell Rd., Peoria, AZ 85382 to bring the car in. AAA towed the car to the Honda Dealer. After 45 Min. Techn. Divac Aodisho advised me they could not find anything. And I drove my vehicle home. This sounds familiar with the recall I found from NHTSA today. I made an appointment to have the fuel pump impeller checked on 01/19/24 but just now I was called and told the parts will not be available until March 2024 appointment is cancelled. So now I'm driving a vehicle that is not 100%. A 2nd similar problem happened [XXX] and a Diagnosis was preformed on my Pilot for $ 160.00 with again no problem found. Would you drive a car that is not 100% ? I don't have a choice and I was told by the Techn. Mr. Grant today "well you have been driving it for 5 Years" that is not very comforting. On [XXX] as I was driving northbound on the [XXX] in California going the speed limit there was a sudden loud crash coming from the engine block. After the loud crash, there was a dramatic drop in engine power causing the car to drastically lose speed. Noticing something wrong with the situation and all the service lights displayed on the dash I quickly got off the freeway and pulled off into a parking lot of industrial buildings. Then called a tow to take the car to the Ocean Honda dealership in Ventura CA. The dealership stated that it was a factory issue that they would resolve with Honda. Giving me a loaner they sent me on my way. On [XXX] Ocean Honda contacted me stating that Honda has not approved the work order and that I either have to pay $13,000 for a new engine or tow my vehicle out. And have until EOD of [XXX] to decide. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Dear Sir/Madam, My Vehicle stalls and stutters suddenly when driving. It does not accelerate the way it should. Engine light is on. I called Honda Customer Service and even though it says "Fuel Pump recall" on my vehicle they say they don't know when parts are going to be available. Their responses were very evasive. They said it was a placeholder and were not willing to help me. They don't have any concrete responses to my questions. I asked them when will the fuel pump parts be available for dealers to fix the recall and they asked me to check back in February. I got a letter in December stating that after Jan 2nd they will help with this issue. Now they are saying Feb. My vehicle maybe unsafe to drive and if the engine seizes or is ruined because of the delay in fixing this recall, I would be at a total loss. Please help me. Thanks so much! Transmission is jumping between first and second gear randomly.
I noticed when driving between 10-30 miles per hour the pilot will stall in between 2 rpm and 3 rpm jumping up and back down, shortly after I received an emission problem alert and the car started driving very strange pulling forward then losing power. Noticed that this is a common problem in Pilots and it is very concerning.
While driving at interstate speeds, without any warning that there was an issue, engine began to run very rough and all warning indicators on the display were active, car slowed and had to pull off onto the road shoulder, very lucky the traffic was lite and was already in the right traffic lane, was able to pull onto the road shoulder quickly. Under heavy traffic and a multiple lane interstate, this type failure would probably resulted in a serious accident involving other cars and personal injury. Engine would restart but was running very rough, all system warning indicators were active on the display. Drove 1/2 mile to safe location at the next exit, parked the vehicle and called Honda for a tow to our local dealership. They indicated the problem was excessive wear to the camshaft. Parts were ordered and repairs are in progress. Drivetrain was still under an extended warranty.
The transmission does not transmit consistent power to the wheels to ensure the car moves forward at consistent speed. This intermittent transmission of power to the tires causes a safety concern when driving, especially during a rainfall with stop and go traffic or when joining roads. The car is unresponsive or very slow to respond when moving forward from a stop position. Any attempt to force the car to move results in a lunge or aggressive acceleration which usually causes the tires to screech. The unnatural acceleration results in forward motion not consistent with the flow of traffic. This issue is further compounded when there is rainfall with a little slop. Any forward motion results in the tires screeching forcing the driver to take his/her foot off the accelerator. This results in a stop and go situation which is confusing to other drivers especially when joining a road.
Engine stalls from a stop to accelerating It has happened several times and nearly caused an accident at an intersection The transmission shifts rough The mechanic can’t find the problem but it’s been ongoing since I purchased the vehicle new
As of 11/21/23, our honda pilot has approx 75,000 miles, we purchased it new so we are the only owners. A few weeks ago, the vehicle while driving about 45 mph, completely shut off, all lights on the dash cam on and the transmission became disengaged. We were able to shut it off for a few minutes, and drive it about 1/2 mile to the local Acura dealership. The car did not operate normally though, it would only go about 20-30 mph, before the transmission disengaged for a few seconds, then re-engage and continue driving. Acura said it was a producing a bad cam-shaft sensor code, they reset it, but said if it happened again, they would need to open up the engine to inspect the cam-shaft. Two days later, the exact same thing happened, we returned it to the same Acura dealership, where they said the cam shaft, and abunch of other parts needed replacement, at a cost of about $2,500. We had no choice since the car was immobilized. Now, the week of 11/20/2023, a recall regarding the rod bearings was issues, which cause the exact same immobilization issues we experienced, which is very dangerous as a driver. Upon research online, the cam shaft sensor and faulty cam shaft is more common than I expected, and I believe should be investigated before someone is seriously injured. To add, our specific pilot is not showing the engine rod recall, but we have experienced issue with the vehicle in regards to the auto start/stop feature and the car not restarting, as well as cruise control issues where the car will go into neutral at 70+ mph when cruise control is activated. We will probably not have this vehicle much longer because of the issues we have had in the first 75K miles, and the continued safety issues that plague this model. More needs to be done for the safety of it's drivers and passengers.
I was on I-44 west of St Louis and between two trailer trucks and the 2018 Pilot started to shake violently and lose power going down that big hill before Lewis road after that it quit and after a 1/2 mile it did it again and shook so bad you thought front wheels were coming off.I took it directly to Napleton Honda in St Peters Mo and naturally they drove the car 6 miles and found nothing wrong. This was on April 22,2022. It did it again on October 31,2023 and at after dark it vibrated again and lost power and we coasted off the highway. I finally got it started and we went home frightened again. We figured no use to take to dealership because they charged 200 dollars to test drive and send us on our way. Please help us we have an unsafe car to drive and they claim it is not a 2018 Pilot under the recall, they are sending letters out to people affected on January 4,2023. Is a person supposed to get killed before they acknowledge they have a bigger problem than what they claim. The second incident happened on October 31,2023 at 54136 miles, the first incident was April 22, 2022 at 41337 miles.
While driving at highway speed, the engine stopped. The car coasted to a stop on the side of the freeway. I attempted to restart the car, but the engine would not turnover. The vehicle was towed to a Honda dealership, there the dealer attempted to rotate the engine at the pulley and the engine would not budge. The mechanic did verify that the engine had adequate oil.
I had brought my vehicle to the dealership to perform the repair for the auto-restart recall issue. I was told this would fix the issue. Several weeks later, my husband and I were driving the car. I stopped at a red light. When the light changed and I lifted my foot off the brake, the vehicle would not restart. I repeatedly tried applying the brakes and shifting into neutral, then shifting into park, but neither would work. I tried turning the car off by pushing the start button, but that would not work either. I immediately placed my hazard lights on, but vehicles were already approaching our car rapidly on this six-lane road. I began blowing my horn to try to alert them, that we were stopped despite the green light. Several vehicles almost slammed into the back of us, since the speed limit on this major road was 50 mph and vehicles did not expect a car to be stopped with a green light. Fortunately, no cars actually hit us. When I brought my vehicle back to the dealership, I was advised this was related to the prior recall, but that the more lengthy, expensive fix was considered a "warranty extension" and not a recall, so it would only be performed after the vehicle continued to have problems after the initial, cheaper, easier recall was performed, but the car still had a problem not restarting. I was shocked that Honda would allow its customers to continue to drive a vehicle that that know can place them in danger. The repair for the "warranty extension" was completed on this vehicle, however, we have another Honda vehicle that falls under this same "warranty extension"/recall issue. Honda refuses to perform the "warranty extension" portion of the repair on that vehicle, until it actually occurs, thus placing my family in danger again! I called Honda and was told they did not care that this placed my family at continued risk and that I should contact NHTSA if I still had concerns. They refused to tell me how often the problem occurs after the recall fix.
The engine failed to restart after the auto idle function engaged at a stop light at a busy intersection. The car shut down, including turning off the tv screens and the a/c etc. and the dash instructed us to put the car in park (it had switched itself into neutral at that point). Once we put it in park it said to push the breaks and start the car. It started back up and we were finally able to move. We were at a busy intersection and it was very scary for us because we did not know what was happening. I’ve seen small signs of this before and it’s prompted me to turn off the function, but I don’t Always remember to do that. It’s a know issue and needs to be addressed. Most people do not know how to report it.
Vehicle stalls when trying to go after stop when auto start is engaged. Auto start must be manually disengaged and sometimes I forget to press the button. When the engine stalls, people behind me get angry and start making aggressive maneuvers to get around me. Normally I can restart the engine after 15 to 30 seconds but it feels longer than that when I have a long line of cars behind me.
Purchased and next day warning light came on for transmission problem. Took it to Honda and was told it was the torque converter. This part is on back order due to multiple installs on other Honda’s.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while stopped, the Auto START/STOP activated, the vehicle shutoff but failed to promptly restart while depressing the accelerator pedal. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
P0741 Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or stuck off. This is one of hundreds of Honda's between the years 2016-2019 that have this same issue, which renders the car undriveable as the torque converter cannot transfer fluid to the transmission from the engine. Honda is aware of this issue, though because torque converters are on "back order" they have not made any attempts to rectify this. Rather, they are waiting for individuals cars to break down and then providing with repairs. Not only is this dangerous, it's unethical.
Fuel pump issues. The 2019 Honda pilot fuel pump has been recalled. The 2018 has same issue. I should not be having this type of problem on such a new vehicle .
When I came to a stop sign the car died and would not start for several minutes, causing traffic to back up and a dangerous situation at a busy 4 way stop. This has happened on multiple occasions when the auto stop feature is not disabled.
The wave radar came on during out travel. We traveled in south Dakota on through construction when the light came on. Now I went to the dealership to get an oil change and ask them about the error. I was informed the the wave radar part had been over worked and need to be replaced. Cost $1268.70. We never got in a collision. The part should not fail for being used causing the error message. I also belive it is a huge safety concern because I dont know if the collision system will work. The second issue we are having with the vehicle is that we turned it in for the recall for the idle stop function. It continues to turn off our vehicle at stoplights and on stops on s hill. I dont feel safe operating this vehicle with me and my family.
The sun visors on both driver’s side and passenger side are unusually difficult to pull down. It got to the point that you needed two hands to pull it down. The stiffness progressively got worse over the last year. In the last six months the visor does not return to flush with the ceiling, impeding clear view thru the windshield. Taller drivers needed to move the visor to the side position in order to view clearly out of the windshield. Dealer mentioned that it’s not the first Honda vehicle with this issue and a quick google search shows evidence of such as well.
The timing is not working correctly. And have to pay 2500 to repair. I can see that is open safety recall for this par for the same model that I have. But when I enter the VIN say that not have that recall
I have taken my 2018 Honda Pilot several times to the Honda Dealer, and they have failed to fix what appears to be a transmission problem with the vehicle. The transmission is burning transmission fluid. The vehicle makes a grinding sound when you shift gears. The gears feel like they are catching when you change them, The transmission gears shift appears to be delayed, slipping/jerking and pulling. This situation is very dangerous to me, my children, and the public. The Honda dealer appears to be stalling, so the vehicle runs out of the warranty. They do little to fix the problem; they keep charging me money and repeatedly replacing the burnt transmission fluid. This vehicle has a lemon transmission that they need to replace. Please help investigate this common problem that so many people are complaining about, and Honda keeps ignoring or excusing the complaints. They are selling unsafe vehicles. The incident/issue is contimous, they have NOT fix the issue. Please review the attached documents. Please contact me with some that can speaks Spanish or is able to translate. Thanks
Since the purchase of my vehicle I have noticed from time to time it will accelerate when I’m pressing on the brakes. Recently, this issue has gotten worse. I have almost drove my car in to our garage doors, or come close to hitting someone in front of my vehicle, because of its unpredictability. There are also issues with a delayed acceleration when accelerating from a stop. I will press on the gas and the car will not move for about 2 or 3 seconds and then accelerate very quickly as I’m pressing the gas all the way down. I believe these problems are related. I’ve taken my vehicle in twice to the dealership with no remedy as they claim they can’t reproduce what I’m talking about. Stop and go traffic is the best way, but not the only way, to reproduce the problems. This is dangerous, in my opinion, and unfortunately I’m stuck with this vehicle that I don’t feel safe in anymore and I don’t want my child, who is learning to drive, to take this vehicle out once she gets her drivers license as I believe an inexperienced driver is in more danger with these issues.
Failed Torque converter at 80, 000 miles leading to dangerous underperformance
I previously reported issue 11360107 which Honda attributed to a bad battery cell and replaced the battery on this vehicle. I followed up with them that I consider auto-idle-stop functionality that doesn't restart despite the battery being capable of restarting to be a safety issue. I re-iterated to them that I "rebooted" the car by holding the car start button down until the Honda logo appeared in the driver display. The car then proceeded to start and I didn't have any issues with the battery being able to start the car before or after that. As stated in that issue, this happened on the access road of a major Texas Freeway while stopped at a stop light. Cars were flying by at 50 mph with my family in the car sitting at a green light. Honda has apparently issued a "fix" for this, but today I experienced a similar issue at the gas station. Today was different b/c my auto-idle-stop was disabled. My Honda dealership had disabled it the second to last time I brought it in for service, but didn't tell me. I had complained to my dealership about this issue in the past, but the feature had been disabled when I received it, without notating the change in any paperwork. I asked about it the last time I had my car at the dealership and they acknowledged that Honda was telling them to disable the auto-idle-stop on vehicles where the owner said something. Today, July 16th, 2023, I experienced the same behavior when I stopped for gas. The car would not restart, the starter would not attempt to star the car. I had driven about 60 miles in this 100 degree weather in Aransas, Texas. After filling up with gas my car wouldn't start, the electronics worked, the radio came on, but the car wouldn't start. I got out of the car while the electronics were on, went to talk to another person in the caravan. I came back and tried again and the car started. The battery was obviously capable of starting the car without jumping.
Regarding the Action Number PE22005 that is still in open investigation, I would like to report having this same issue with a 2018 Honda Pilot Elite that I purchased through a dealer on June 24. I recently had this same issue, where at a stoplight the car went into the engine idle stage, and the engine completely shut off, instructions popped up on the dashboard to put the car in park and restart the car. Hopefully this will be figured out by Honda soon, as this can be a real issue. I had a similar issue, when stopped in the road to turn left, the engine went into idle stage, it restarted when going to turn however there was a huge delay in this.
While driving with auto-idle on, anytime I come to a complete stop and the ide engine engages it fails to restart when I let off of the break.AI message stating accessory mode comes on the screen and the car completely shuts down, requiring me to power off the car completely and push the start button on the car again. It takes a few tries for the car to start. I feel like it is very dangerous for me, my passengers, and all the cars in the vicinity. By my car not moving cars have to merge into other lanes to go around the hazard, which is now my stalled vehicle, or will fail to stop before contact with my stalled vehicle at a green light. This well known and documented issue will cause accidents.
Vehicle was being driven in a construction zone on the highway when the CMBS (collision mitigation braking system) error message appeared on the dashboard. This is the 2nd occurrence of this issue (1st occurrence also happened while driving through construction zone) When error occurs all advanced safety features (auto-emergency braking, lane keep, etc) become disabled. I believe there is a fundamental design flaw in how Honda's Sensing system handles obstacles such as temporary construction zones. American Honda claims the only way to turn off the light is to pay a diagnostic fee and labor charge. A safety design flaw should not be the responsibility of the vehicle owner to pay to fix.
While stopped at an intersection, the vehicle's Auto Start/Stop technology engaged. When driver attempted to drive, the Auto Start/Stop wouldn't disengage, as a result the car would not start. The vehicle prompted the driver to put the car in park and push the ignition button to start the car, however nothing happened, meaning the car would not start. After about 2 minutes, the car was able to start and the driver was able to continue driving. An immobilized vehicle at an intersection put its passengers at risk, including 2 children under the age of 3. Dealer will be notified of this occurrence.
My wife was pulling into the dentist parking lot, made a slow right hand turn to a parking space when the vehicle suddenly and violently accelerated. Depressing and pumping brake had no effect and the car slammed into a tree destroying the right front of the vehicle. She assured me that she did not depress the accelerator. She is a very safe driver, never received a ticket nor involved in an accident. Research into similar accidents showed multiple cases where this occurred with Honda Pilot vehicles.
Emissions system problem
When the vehicle is turned off, the lights panel will flicker. You can hear the relays clicking behind the panel. The headlights will come on. The car alarm will go off at random. On average 7-10/per day. I’ve taken the vehicle to the dealer and there appears to be a back order of the part needed to fix the issue.
Good afternoon, I would like to bring an issue to your attention and file a complaint on Honda Motor Company. Last week, I scheduled an appointment in the Service Department at Russell and Smith Honda to diagnose my 2018 Honda Pilot. My vehicle jerks when driving at a low speed. Russell and Smith diagnosis was a transmission oil flush and a system update with "recommendations to replace the battery and spark plugs" ; total charges to fix the problem was roughly $365 additional to the $110 that I paid for the diagnosis. That same day, I picked up my vehicle from Russell and Smith Honda and refused to pay because its a 2018 truck that I shouldn't be dealing with a transmission problem. As I was driving the truck back home, it started to turn off automatically and an engine light alert would turn on. The truck would start working after turning it back on. Two days after, I took it back to Russell and Smith Honda and advised them of the truck shutting down and I was notified to pay another $100 for a diagnosis which I refused to pay since it was recently diagnosed two days ago. This is putting my life at risk on the streets. The employee who assisted me went inside to ask a mechanic on duty and came back to notify me that I do need to pay for another diagnosis to determine whats wrong. I refused to pay and left the dealership. I called Honda Motor Company on 4/10/23 to advise them of the problem and they created a case #13752705 to further investigate and I advised them if not I will report it to NHTSA. Honda Motor Company requested a copy of the diagnosis and when I called them for an update, the case worker assigned to my case Samir stated they agreed to pay for the transmission flush and system update and they have notified Russell and Smith Honda. The next day I called Russell and Smith Honda to advise them that I will drop off the truck according to Honda Motor Company and they said I need to pay for the recommendations listed on the diagnosis first. Faulty vehic
Emissions light comes on due to a faulty Fuel Injector and Catalytic Converter. This continues to show up in multiple forums when it comes to this problem.
I was driving 55 miles per hour on a highway when I intended to press the hazard button to illuminate my hazard lights, but instead accidently pressed the ignition button. When I pressed the ignition button the car turned off while going 55 miles per hour. I lost all power including steering. I was able to muscle the car off an exit ramp and put it in neutral to press the brake and restart the vehicle while moving on the ramp. This could have been a catastophic event for me and my daughter and others driving along with us one the highway. I have not tried to reproduce this event as it would put me in an unsafe situation. The vehicle has not been inspected. I plan to do this next week at the dealership. No warning from the vehicle occurred when the event occurred. No warning lamps or messages or symptoms.
Vehicle auto start/stop feature actually shuts the car off (at times) and requires me to put the car in part and go through the car startup process. This causes issues when you’re at a green light. I have taken the car to Honda and so far they’ve performed a software update, replaced the starter, and tuned the valves.
Our 2018 Honda Pilot Touring has had auto idle stop issues from the moment we purchased this vehicle. We have addressed this safety concern with multiple Honda service centers and were repeatedly told this is how the car was designed. The auto idle stop function stalls every time the vehicle is stopped at an intersection and fails to automatically restart the engine as expected. Instead of the engine starting up again after take foot off the brake and press the gas pedal, the car stalls completely and have to put the car in park, press the brake pedal and push the start button to get it on again. Sometimes have to try several times before car restarts. This has been a major safety concern for our family and Honda refuses to fix it.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated, followed by an emissions message. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated that the fuel injector kit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again and the front catalytic converter was replaced, but the failure reoccurred. The fuel sensors were also replaced, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 169,187.
While traveling at highway speed there was what sounded like an explosion and first thought was it was a blown tire, but upon stopping to inspect it was discovered that the sunroof had exploded, leaving a large gaping hole across it. There had been no warning signs and there was no previous known damage to sunroof. I was lucky that the sun shade had been closed at the time or there would have been the real risk of the interior passenger compartment being peppered with flying glass shards, posing a danger to all 6 occupants, including 4 minor children, and especially to the front passenger and driver sitting directly underneath the sunroof who would have been at greater risk of injury with the very real possibility of the driver losing control of the vehicle.
Powertrain: The transmission has problems engaging, where I have had several near misses due tot he car not moving in the delay of the transmission engaging. This has been going on for some time and the dealer tells me there is nothing wrong, that it is a special transmission and I need to get used to the shifting mode. I have 36,300 miles and have complained several times over the past five years, this is a real safety issue since the car will not move and when it dose it lunges forcefully. Idle shut-off: the engine shuts off and will not restart, it has also shut-off on the freeway at random times.
On several occasions so far, when stopped with the idle stop system engaged, the brake depressed and at a full stop, the engine shut down, as expected, but failed to restart once the brake pedal was released.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while approaching a stop, the contact attempted to accelerate however, there was a delay in responding. The contact stated that after a while the vehicle accelerated. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who admitted knowledge of similar failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 10,000. The consumer stated the vehicle now has 52k and still exhibits the 2-3 second hesitation when depressing the accelerator. The contact stated the vehicle has started to roll backwards on a hill. The vehicle has just less than 60k miles and has always been serviced by a dealership.
The engine light appreared with this note on my dashboard, emission system problem. My Pilot is a 2018 with 41K miles. The engine light appeared 2/12/2023. I took it to my local auto mechanic but they couldn't fix the issue without performing a deep diagnostic testing that last 2 to 3 hours long and it would cost more than $500 including the parts to repair it. The mechanic suggested to take my car to the Honda dealer as this is common issue with this vechicle. I'm reading online from owners from vechiclehistory.com with this same issue and the owners all have the same issue. Honda needs to recall these Pilots and repair the issue at Honda's expense.
Extreme vibration from the high pressure fuel line due to premature failure of the high pressure fuel pump. Was told that I need to replace everything going to the high pressure fuel pump when I replace the pump because of the risk of fire. Honda is aware of this issue as they have issued a 16-013 service bulletin and has passed the cost of a design flaw down to the consumer knowing the line could rupture and catch the vehicle on fire. Honda says oops well it's over 60k miles and your past the warranty. The vibration from acceleration is so loud and the fuel line shakes freely back and forth within 3 inch span of movement. It won't let me upload a video. There are 1000s of cars with the issue in the forums and it should be a recall due to the possibility of fuel line rupture.
Unknown. I was using cruise control maintaining approx 60mph. The car in front of me started to slow and I tapped the brake to disengage cruise control. The car lunged forward and the accelerator went towards the floor. I tried to turn the car off and the push button did not respond. As my speed increased I narrowly missed rear ending cars in front of me as I swerved in and out of lanes, with the brake pedal not responding. I drove into the dirt medium of the road on the left and pushed the shift into park and the car eventually slowed to a stop. I was very shook up and sat in this dangerous area until I was calm enough to start the car and see if I could get across the highway to an exit. I tried turning the car off twice before attempting this to see if I could get it to respond. Both times it responded and the light on the dash indicated to put it into Park. I made it across the highway to an exit where I drove around a parking lot for 1/2 hr turning the car on & off to see if it was safe to get it home. I did not touch cruise control again. It was nothing short of a miracle that I didn’t kill anyone on the road or myself.
The car has an automatic engine shut off when the car comes to a complete stop (brake pushed fully). Over the course of a month, the car will stop and start correctly many times, however 5-7 times a month the engine will not come back on...the lights and radio will all be on and the engine will not come on. This requires me to put the car in park, turn the car completely off, restart the car all while the light is green and cars are behind ready to go. The battery is fine. There is an issue with the automatic system. Unfortunately Honda Dealership has not been helpful and is more interested in charging extra money. I have read this is a problem that needs to be addressed.
When driving and slowing down or stopping at stop to which the auto/off engages, the vehicle turns all the way off. I cannot move the car and have to try several times to power the vehicle down and disengage the auto off function. It has happened several times and I just took it to Gillman Honda where they said it is probably just the battery but my battery has been fine.
Engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged.
Vehicle engine shutdown while at full stop and does not turn on or has difficulties turning back on. This happens sporadically and only happens at stops such as red lights, stop signs, and or stop and go traffic.
he auto start/stop is not working for my 2018 Honda Pilot Elite. The vehicle does not start in the middle of the traffic when it stops. I've stuck stuck multiple times and now for last 1 year I have to force switch off that feature every time I drive the car.
The problem began in May this year and has gotten worse over time. The idle engine stop does not always work properly. After driving for 10-15 minutes in stop and go traffic, when the brake is released, a popping noise or click is heard and the electronics (radio, AC, etc.) go off momentarily. When the idle engine stop is working properly, there is no noise and the radio, etc. are not interrupted. After several additional miles of driving, the noise or click becomes louder and the engine will not restart. I have to put the car in park and restart the engine. This is a safety issue in that my vehicle blocks traffic and given the number of aggressive drivers today, I am concerned someone could react in an inappropriate manner. Now, whenever I begin to hear the noise, I am forced to manually turn off the idle-stop feature. Honda responded to my concern by saying they have no "open campaigns" on the issue and for meeting to see the dealer. In the past the dealer says they have never heard of this problem and said they could not do anything. I saw online there are multiple others with the same problem and the NHTSA has opened an investigation as of June 2022. I am very disappointed that Honda US does not seem to be addressing the problem so I am adding my complaint to the NHTSA investigation. I look forward to hearing what can be done to alleviate the problem. Thank you, Dan
When the idle stop feature is active the vehicle can stop, ceasing all functions, including steering and engine. The entire electrical system does not function, and the vehicle cannot be restarted. In order to restart the vehicle you are required to jumpstart the vehicle. This issue was not common during early ownership of vehicle, but has become more frequent with age. This is a safety issue as the vehicle can become inoperable in busy intersections.
When stopping at a traffic light the engine auto stop/start engages, but then the engine will not power back on when I release the brake. I have to completely restart the engine, causing a safety concern with other vehicles behind me. This has been ongoing for the last 6 months or so, and it seems to be getting worse. Sometimes the car will turn off mid intersection and we will be stuck there for 10-30 seconds while I try to get the car back on and going again. It is a very dangerous hazard and Honda denies there being an issue. After reading online it seems that many people are having a similar problem.
When stopping at a traffic light the engine auto stop/start engages, but then the engine will not power back on when I release the brake. I have to completely restart the engine, causing a safety concern with other vehicles behind me. This just started in December 2022 and seems to occur daily.
I have, on several occasions, been driving my vehicle and when I stop and try to start again the engine fails to start again. This most recently happened when I got off the highway and had to stop suddenly and then had difficulty getting my car started back up in almost the middle of the intersection. This could have ended up being a really dangerous situation. This has occurred now several times. I brought my car in because I was concerned about it and they just told me that I would need to replace the battery. The battery worked fine except for this, so I am unsure why they aren't helping us understand this all better. They did confirm the issue was happening and said that they have seen it a lot. Lots of warning lots would pop on and back off when this happened.
Upon stopping for a red light, the car turned off the engine and is supposed to restart when the brake is released. However my car stalled out and wouldn't auto start. After 20 seconds it then prompted to restart the car. This was on a busy road and I was lucky no one rear-ended me or got into an accident themselves while trying to avoid my car that should have been moving with traffic but was just sitting idle at a green light. I called the Honda dealership and they weren't alarmed by this or even interested in looking at the car. The told me to select the "disable auto stop" when starting the car so the engine won't idle. This is OK as a short-term solution but remembering this every time we start the car isn't a sufficient solution. On instances when I forgot, the car stalls out, and now occurs at least once a week. I'm now resorted to adding a post-it note to remind myself (and anyone else that uses me car) to turn the auto stop off. This isn't practical solution for a defective, default feature that Honda added to their cars. There needs to be a permanent override for this unnecessary feature that compromises safety, not only for the vehicle occupants but for those trying to avoid the stalled vehicle.
Today my 2018 Pilot EX-L suddenly started displaying these warnings: - Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) Problem - Hill Start Assist Problem - Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem - Power Steering System (EPS) Problem Looking at Honda Pilot Forums, it seems like it is a very common problem and has to do with Fuel Injectors as described by: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10187289-0001.pdf Many people have complained of this issue, here is one such blog of many many more: https://www.piloteers.org/threads/multiple-warning-lights.127665/ This should be a recall and not just an extension of warranty which shifts the burden of proof to the consumer. Please help Honda honor this warranty for my 4 year old pilot with only 47,463 miles on it.
On 8/15/22 I was driving my honda pilot. I came to a stop and when I proceeded to accelerate the car got stuck in low gear and would not pick up speed. It made a strange sound and I could feel a hard bang and it kept getting stuck in low gear. I took the car to the dealer immediately and was told the 5th gear pressure switch had failed. The transmission has a 60000 mile warranty but I was told this part was not under warranty since even though it controls the transmission it is not part of it. This is a very dangerous situation because if I was trying to accelerate to go on a freeway the car would not have been able to pick up speed and I could have been in an accident. Honda has not helped me at all even though I filed a complaint with them and they only offered me a $300 voucher instead of covering a known defect in their vehicle. I feel this car should be recalled for this defect.
Problem with start-stop system. Engine shuts off when vehicle is stopped but engine does not restart at times. Dealership could not find a problem and said they’ve never heard of it happening to anyone else, BUT a simple online search shows that it is a problem and NHTSA has an open investigation. VERY DANGEROUS when the vehicle doesn’t restart at a stop light or in stop and go traffic. Honda needs to step up and rectify immediately!
Numerous restart issues when car in in idle mode stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. Car does not idle but completely powers off. I'm required to place car into "park", turn on power, shift to drive in order to accelerate
On at least three occasions after being stopped at a light the engine suddenly died (not simply auto idle stop). After putting in park and shutting off ignition (button start) and waiting some time the vehicle could be restarted. Battery is good. Fuel is good. Injectors already replaced. Dangerous as vehicle may be unexpectedly on powered while in traffic
Car does not turn on after stopping at a red light with auto start/off on. Turns on after being jump started. Also windows automatically come down without pressing any buttons after opening or turning off car. Dealer reports no issues. Battery has been changed with no solution. Car is inoperable with concern for pedestrian safety and personal safety.
I was stopped at a red light, the engine cycled down because of the environmentally friendly option. My foot was on the break. The transmission shifted to neutral and turned orange. I could not get it to shift back to Drive. I had to turn the car off and restart it. At that point I was able to put it in drive and move the car. This was very dangerous because I was on a busy highway and could have been rear ended by a driver not noticing the car was stopped and off.
Car won’t start after auto stop engages at red lights. I was on a busy road at a red light when my car wouldn’t restart. I had to sit a few embarrassing minutes (felt longer) turning the car off and on until it finally restarted. I noticed the issue occurred a few months ago as well, but because it only happened once I wasn’t concerned. This time was on a very busy road with cars coming 45mph towards me. Since the first incident, I did notice when it auto starts 9/10 times it turns my radio off and my cabin lights cut on then off (as if I’m starting the whole car again). Sometimes it will flash lights on the dash as well but I cannot recall which ones (I know battery is one). I try to remember to turn the feature off every time I get in my car, because you can’t turn it off and leave it off.
I was driving on a city street, during traffic I came to a complete stop and the car turned off the engine automatically by the idle-stop feature. When traffic was moving, I lifted my foot off the brake pedal expecting the engine turn back on and move forward but the engine never started and I tried to start the engine manually stepping on the brake and press the Engine Start button but in didn't work either, all the while I could have easily gotten rear-ended by driver behind me. Luckily other drivers were paying attention but nonetheless I was pressure to move my car. After struggling for 5 minutes, I finally manage to restart the engine again. I am the original owner and service my car at the dealer and the car only have 39160 miles on it. This problem happened before but is happening more often now, which is causing more safety concerns for me.
At 50,000 miles the car started to make a clanking noise. The car was checked no issued were found. at 60,000 oil change was preformed vehicle was checked no issued were found. At 63,000 the following lights came on at once: check engine, TSA, Hill start problem. Took the car again to get checked and now they have stated the car needs a new engine no lights had previously came on.
My 2018 Pilot has started to stall when the auto start-stop is engaged. It has happened 3 times at busy intersections creating a dangerous situation. It doesn't look like this issue has been recalled, but I have seen hundreds of posts regarding the same issue.
Auto engine on/off option- when on and at a stop the whole vehicle shuts down I have to hold brakes down press engine on/off to correctly shut it down the start the vehicle
The auto off/on is dangerous. Multiple time the car does not turn back on and everything turns off. A few times the car started to roll backwards, when on a hill and I took my foot of the break. The car didn't start, I had to reapply the break and push the start button again.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while at a stop light and attempting to accelerate the vehicle stalled with an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for another issue and the contact inquired about the failure. The contact was informed that the idle Start/Stop system sensor might need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated there was a Technical Service Bulletin for the failure however, the vehicle was not included. The failure mileage was 60,000.
The vehicle routinely shuts off at intersections and is unable to restart. This often causes traffic to back up behind the vehicle and vehicles around us having to make sudden stops. This occurs during normal driving conditions about 3 times/month. It seems to be attributed to the automatic shut-off feature but does not restart as it should when operating properly.
On September 27, 2022 the vehicle start/stop failed at Georgetown Texas highway 195/I35 overpass stop light. When the light changed the vehicle started to move forward then stalled in the left lane. I engaged the emergency flashers, stopped the vehicle, put it in park and proceeded to restart the vehicle. During this event, there were several near misses including a gravel truck. I believe a review of service orders will conclude the vehicle’s engine start/stop feature has been problematic for a few years.
The engine stop feature did not allow the car to restart at multiple stops. I was not able to immediately restart the car. It did restart after some time. This was concerning, since I was stuck on the middle of an intersection. There are no problems if we immediately disable this feature when starting the car.
Vehicle will randomly stall after the auto stop-start has kicked in. Car starts then stalls immediately in the middle of an intersection. Shift selector would switch to neutral when this happened requiring the driver to shift into drive even further delaying the ability to get out of traffic. Have since had to replace the shifter switch (PRNDL) to the tune of $750 and have the same random problem. My wife wants to get rid of this car as she afraid to drive it.
Unknown component or system malfunction. There is sometimes a delay in acceleration when I press on the gas. Most of the time it's when I'm accelerating from a stop but can happen at any time. Once I press the gas and the car doesn't accelerate for about 2or 3 second I'll then have a surge of acceleration. This is very dangerous when I'm trying to pull out in to traffic or turn at a light as I end up dead stopped with oncoming traffic. I did take my SUV to be seen at a dealership but they could not reproduce the problem, someone needs to drive the car longer than 10 min to try and reproduce issue. Stop and go traffic is the best way to try and reproduce this issue. This issue began soon after purchasing in 2019
The auto stop and start has almost caused multiple accidents. When I remove my foot from the break the vehicle will not always start. Sometimes it dies and I must restart it and sometimes the vehicle rolls backwards before it starts.
On multiple occasions the idle stop feature will engage and upon re-engage it will stall my vehicle. When I place the vehicle in park, press the brake and press the ignition start, nothing happens. Upon multiple attempts to restart the car it will either do nothing or making a chug without restarting. Continuing my attempts to restart the vehicle it will finally restart. During these times I will be stalled at a stop sign or traffic light with impatient drivers going around me. All the dashboard lights come on. I have taken it to the dealership, they stated they couldn’t duplicate the problem. This is unsafe for motorists or pedestrians. If this happens while I'm in an intersection or other location with moving traffic it could be very unsafe for myself, other motorists and/or pedestrians.

Was in the middle of an intersection and pressed the button to turn off Engine Idle Mode as I have had instances where it was very slow to go when this mode is on and it delays getting out of the way of other drivers. When I pressed the Idle Off button - the car “shut down” and went into neutral. I could not get it out of neutral. Pressed D, R, P. Multiple times. Didn’t work. Had to press the turn off car button twice to turn off car then it finally restarted. I was stranded in the intersection and almost got hit by several cars. Once it started I pulled into a gas station and the radio stopped working. I turned off the car and restarted. Then the engine wasn’t shifting properly. Shut off the car again and went to the dealer. Dealer ran diagnostics and couldn’t find a problem. Checked the battery and all other items - no issues. Somebody is going to get killed and now I’m scared to drive my car.
auto start/stop failure - Vehicle stops, engine shuts off as usual. however, when brake is released the engine does not start back up. It then needs to be put in park and takes several takes to start again.
While driving, the transmission would not gear up to any higher gears and could only drive 40mph with 3000+ RPMS. The MIL lights showed "Check Engine," "Emissions System Problem," "Transmission System Problem," and "Blind Spot Info System Problem," all at once. When pressing the "P" button for Park, it did not always want to engage in Park. The engine would sometime stutter on acceleration. The "P" and "D" for Park and Driver on the MIL would constantly blink. This action placed the driver and occupants at risk of injury because of the stutter and slow speeds on the highway. Also, when the "Park" button did not engage, the car was at risk of rolling into person or property. Currently, service has been scheduled for the dealership to diagnose the issue. There were no warning signs prior to all of these warning lights showing up all at once.
I was on a six lane highway at a traffic light. The idle stop engaged while I was sitting for the light to turn green. I released the break and the car didn’t start. I tried to put the car in park and push the start button and the car wouldn’t start. I sat through a couple light cycles in the middle lane with my hazards on. I turned off all accessories and the car did start and I was able to drive off.
Sitting at stoplight with the auto start on (turns off at light to save emissions). light turned green took foot off brake, the car died, had to push the start button a few times before car would turn back on. This has happened to us twice.
The engine engages the auto-idle feature but fails to restart at stopping points in the roadway or at intersections. This leaves the occupants stranded in the roadway in traffic congestion. There were no warning indicator lights on the dashboard before the incident indicating a potential issue.
The automatic engine stop-start feature of the car is having serious issues, the car engine shuts off automatically after stopping the car at stop signs/red lights etc and does not restart automatically after releasing the brake. This has been an intermittent issue and has happened noticeable number of times till now. When the system does not restart its asks to pull over without having engine turned on which is conflicting message. I have spoke to the dealership and they say there is no known issues with the system which says otherwise based on my research multiple customers are facing this issue. Though not a huge safety risk, unable to start a car in busy intersection induces some amount of safety hazard.
We are original owners of the vehicle. At busy intersections, including when in the middle of the intersection for a left turn, the car has shot off with the auto-off feature. Upon removing our foot from the brake the truck shut off completely (engine should have restarted). To restart the vehicle we had to ensure we were in park and restart the engine. This catches the driver off guard and creates a panic which is not safe. This has happened about 10 times since owning the vehicle. During my last service appointment I reported the incident, and they checked the battery to ensure it was not a battery related issue. Since that appointment in February we have had this happen ~3-4 times. There is NO OPTION to just disable the auto off. Se we are doing our best to remember to de-activate it every time we start the engine. I'm taking the car in for service again within the next week and will have them recheck the battery.
Multiple incidences of vehicle power shutting off unexpectedly including at a stop light in busy major downtown causing a dangerous situation and requiring police assistance. Start will fail unexpectedly requiring a period of time before another attempt or a jump start.
The automatic Stop-Start feature has had multiple issues in the last two years on my 2018 Honda Pilot Elite. The lesser issue has resulted in ALL systems turning off when the brake pedal is pushed all the way down. While the usual, expected result is just the engine cutting off, many times the entire electrical system shuts down. On two (seemingly random) cases, however, the car did NOT restart for quite some time. Once was at an interaction, the other was in stop/go traffic in the rain on the highway. Here is where it could have been catastrophic as I could not even turn on my flashers to warn (in low visibility) that I was stopped while all other traffic was flowing. In neither case did I require a jump start and I have never had any reason to blame the battery. Even in the winter, the car starts right up (here in Virginia). My local Honda dealership is claiming that I need a new battery and a software update. I have a claim in to Honda CustomerCare (even have a Case Manager assigned), but I have not heard from them in the last 3 days.
This has happened to me about 10 times in this vehicle: I am at a stoplight or stopsign and my "Idle-Stop" system in the Honda shuts down my engine and then when my foot comes off the brake it does not restart like it is supposed to leaving me stranded in the middle of traffic with a non moving vehicle. I think this is extremely dangerous and I am scared this will cause a terrible accident if not fixed. The only way the engine restarts is after about 30 seconds to a minute it finally is able to power back on. Please have Honda issue a recall for this issue.
On multiple occasions / almost daily the engine auto shut off kills the engine completely. The vehicle needs to be restarted to get moving. This poses as a significant safety hazard. This delay is going to get someone killed. The engine dies at stop lights, stops signs, off ramps and sitting in traffic. A complaint was made to the Honda dealer on 4 or more occasions with them informing us they can not replicate the issue and there isn’t a safety recall on it yet. This issue has gotten so bad that I am thinking about selling this car do to a safety issue. Honda is usually a trustable brand and stand by their brand, but some reason they will not admit to this reoccurring problem in the Honda Pilots.
I have had multiple (5 times) over the past month where when stopped at a stop light or other stopping point my Pilot failed to re-start on it's own. In all 5 instances I had to put the car in park and restart the vehicle. It is August (warm weather) in Chicago and there were no other weather/local environmental issues that should have caused this issue. There were no warning messages prior to the automatic re-start failure. I have not yet reported this issue to Honda but plan to do so.
The automatic stop/start for the engine is failing. It stops at inopportune times, and it is very slow to restart. Sometimes i have to put it in park and push the start button. This has been problematic at intersections and it has been happening more and more frequently. The SUV only has 24,000 miles on it.
Engine unable to restart after stopping at traffic light. When Auto Engine is enabled I have faced this problem multiple times and it was unable to restart. Traffic backed up because I could not go forward. I had to literally shut down everything and then start the engine again. I have already seen this news that you guys are investigating this issue with Honda. Now I disable my engine before I start my journey.
The engine stop start function fails to "start" the truck in traffic when the failure happens 60% of the time you can follow on dash instructions and restart the truck - the remaining 40% it will ONLY restart after you JUMP Start the vehicle with another car. This has left my Wife Stranded 2 times in a busy intersection and we had to get jump started in the busy intersection While in this state we also could NOT put the vehicle in neutral to move it from the intersection trapping it where it was until it was jump started.
I had the hood latch recall fixed at Gerald Jones Honda and a week the next day I notice my hood would shake when I would pass by cars. I took it back and they said it was fixed. Currently is shakes and rises when I pass cars. I am afraid to drive with my small children. I have contact the dealership who repaired it and American Honda. By next step is to get an attorney.
routinely if the auto stop is on the car will stall out when you try to accelerate from a stop. It will completely die, multiple errors will flash on the board. The car will be completely unresponsive. Eventually I have thus far been able to restart the car but it frequently happens at intersections and I am constantly concerned about getting rear ended. The dealership denies there is a problems. I have replaced the car battery and even with a brand new battery the same things happens. Only way to prevent it, is to disengage the idle/stop every single time you enter the car.
As I was coming to a stop light and started to slow down the automatic start/stop system engaged, but the light turned green and when I tried to accelerate the car was not running anymore lights I the dashboard where flashing that I needed to put vehicle in park to start back up. Our vehicle was almost impacted by the truck behind us because he assumed I would be able to speed up instead of having to come to a complete stop. This has happened at least 20 more times since then when I forget to turn off the automatic start/stop feature. It's always when I'm coming to a stop, the suv will not turn back on mostly its inconvenient to drivers behind me that feel I just didn't see the light turn green but a couple of times it has happened when approaching metering lights in the freeway where the cars behind me or in the lane next to me are ready to accelerate not knowing that my car will have to come to a complete stop because of this issue before I car start the car again.
On 8 August 2022, 1220 pm Chester, Virginia. I was driving my SUV and I heard a loud boom, I thought it was an back fire from another car. When, arrived home, checked my SUV for any possible damages. I noticed there was a slight budge on the sunroof. I opened the sliding portions of the sunroof and I noticed the entire glass had shattered with a large hole in the middle of the sunroof. I inspected the area and didn’t notice anything that could have shattered the glass. In my opinion, with increasing temperatures, the sunroof glass shattered because extremely hot weather. The outside temperature was 97 Degrees Fahrenheit which the inside temperature was much higher.
Auto start stop function is activated at stop light. Upon releasing the brake to accelerate, the car shuts off completely and am unable to restart vehicle immediately. Requires me to push on/off button a few times to get vehicle back on and running.
On multiple occasions over the past month or so, my wife has experienced engine issues associated with what we believe is the Auto Start/Stop function on our 2018 Honda Pilot (Touring Edition). Upon coming to a complete stop, the Auto Stop function disables the engine. Upon releasing the brake, the system is supposed to restart the engine. However, on at least five occasions the engine has not restarted, and it has required her to turn the vehicle off and completely restart it as if starting from cold. This has occurred at stop lights, which obviously could cause safety issues/implications. On at least a couple of the occasions, she had to attempt to restart the vehicle multiple times by applying the brakes and pressing the main start/stop button). I frequently drive the vehicle and always turn off the Auto Start/Stop function. I have never run into these issues whatsoever. The vehicle is scheduled for routine maintenance at a Honda dealership in two days; the vehicle is serviced solely at this same dealership. The issue will be brought to their attention as well.
Our Honda Pilot began stalling four years after purchasing the vehicle. When the Honda was stopped, the engine shut off but the engine wouldn't automatically restart when the accelerator was pressed. I fortunately was able to get the Honda to restart after a couple tries.
I took my pilot to Gerald Jones Honda in Augusta to have recall of hood latch fixed. It has gotten worse and loose and almost blows up when I pass large trucks. I took it back to Gerald Jones and they said they couldn't do anything, In the mean time i have contacted Honda, sent them a video of the moving hood and I have been waiting on an answer of what to do. I am am scared when I drive it that the hood it going to fly up. My next step it to turn this over to my attorney.
After the car was stoped at a red light with the auto-idle feature on, the car stalled out when I pressed the gas petal to drive. The radio and A/C shut off and a PARK warning displayed. It took several attempts to turn the car back on. After the car started it took several minutes for the radio to start working again. None of the touch buttons for radio, phone or navigation would respond. This happened when I was at a light after getting off the highway. It almost caused a car accident with the drivers around me who were coming off the highway. Since this happened, every time I turn on the car, the radio stations can not be found. I have to turn the radio off/on once or twice for the car to find the stations. Frequently, when I go from stop to drive at lights or stop signs, the radio and AC will turn off for a second. This seems to only happen when the auto idle feature is on. The car transmission is also having lurching when going from 1st to 2nd gear.
Per dealer service center the front passenger defect seat frame need to be replaced. This is a manufacturer defect although this vehicle was not on the recall list of Honda Service Bulletin 18-042, it should have been. This vehicle has not been any accident to cause a seat frame problem. Could cause harm if in accident. The dealer service and Honda American is offering to pay half on the $1,853.60. This a manufacturer defect and I should not have to pay.
While stopped at a red light and stopped at a 4-way intersection my 2018 Honda Pilot turned completely off. It was not in engine idle mode. A message flashed up on my dash saying to put my car in park.
Auto idle system failed and the car stalled at a streetlight. The auto-idle kicks in when car comes to a stop like it’s supposed to but when I release my foot off the break and the car is supposed to start back up it stalls. It can take anywhere from 45 seconds to 1 minute to get it into park and get the car to restart. During which time I’ve been honked at by other cars but thankfully haven’t been hit yet. I worry about it happening and I get hit because I’ve been in the way of traffic and unable to move. Very scary situation to be in. This has happened on 4 separate occasions over the last couple months, the most recent one was June 19th. I now try to remember to turn the system off every time I get into the car to drive. Dealership tested battery and it came back fine.
When vehicle comes to a stop, vehicle start/stop feature engages, then vehicle stalls. Vehicle then indicates that it should be shifter into park before it can be re-started. This has happened numerous times. Vehicle was brought into dealer, they are aware an investigation is underway with Honda but had no known solution besides updating the main computer program. They also recommended replacing the batter which tested ok. The fact that the vehicle stalls when you come to a stop is a very big safety concern.
I was stopped at a stop light and the car was in auto engine idle. After releasing the brake when the light turned green, the engine shut off and the dash told me to put the car in park and restart by pushing the brake and hitting the engine start button. This process took about 30 seconds for the car to finally restart and I was sitting in the middle of traffic with cars behind me that had anticipated me moving forward when the light changed. Several warning symbols popped up including the collision mitigation system. This is an easy way to get rear-ended. In other instances, I have had issues where the radio and engine shuts off after releasing the brake when in auto engine idle at a stop light or driving in slower traffic but it kicks back on in just a second with no need to stop and restart. Both of these issues are very concerning. Battery life is fine, so that is not the issue. Issue stops when auto engine idle is disabled.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving in stop-and-go traffic, the vehicle would engage the engine STOP/START fuel-saving feature while stopped. The contact stated that whenever she depressed the accelerator pedal the message "Place Vehicle in Park" displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to restart, with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact attempted to start the vehicle using the Push to Start button. The vehicle was restarted but failed to respond after shifting into drive. The vehicle was restarted several times before resuming normal operation. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Engine auto start/stop has failed. 68000 miles, recently when system is engaged my car completely dies. Have to wait 60 seconds to turn off car and restart Understand numerous complaints already submitted and want to add mine to the list
Car when in the idle stop has not restarted for several minutes. Some times it starts back up within 5 seconds. Other times it shuts the engine down and tells me to hit the start button to turn vehicle on, but then nothing happens. I am not even able to put car in neutral. Most recently this happened while exiting off a highway on the ramp. A bus driver pulled over in attempts to help me get the car off the ramp. However, a minute into trying to get it into neutral, the car popped back into drive and the engine on so I could get home. Car has been brought in multiple times and the dealership says they cannot find anything wrong with the car.
I was at the red light stop, when I got green light, I moved my feet off of brake, engine did not wake up or restart. I pushed gas pedal but the car would not move, then it showed all kinds of lights on dashboard. Afterwards, the car showed a sign asking to shift into parking, which I did. The engine start button could not restart or turn the car comepletely for a minute. After 2 minutes the card started it again and there was no light on dashboard.
Transmission kind of jerks when accelerate especially when you do it nice and easy(more like fluctuating up and down) I did some research on line a lot of people having same issues on this year model vehicles
The following has occurred 3 separate times. The first time occurred in July 2021. When stopped at traffic lights, the engine shuts off to conserve energy but then has difficulty restarting. When the light turns green, we take our foot off the brake and the engine does not restart. Instead, the ignition button light flashes and the car is unable to shift into gear and appears to be in neutral. The only way to solve it is to shut the car off and restart it. This process takes anywhere from 20-60 seconds. This has caused us to stall at lights and cars behind us have to go around, which creates a safety concern. After the first instance, we brought it to our Honda dealership and informed them. They inspected the vehicle and were unable to find anything wrong. They also were not able to reproduce it. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to or after the incidents.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, however, the brake pedal was not fully depressed; the contact then depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact restarted the vehicle soon after the failure and resumed normal driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic test was performed; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,500.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that occasionally the vehicle would hesitate while driving. Additionally, the vehicle occasionally lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact stated that while idle at a stop light and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle independently shifted to neutral and stalled. The contact shifted into park(P) and restarted the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
2018 HONDA PILOT. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO MPG ISSUE. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE MPG DISPLAYED ON THE VEHICLE VERSUS THE ACTUAL MPG.
Several times I have been driving with the auto stop on. When I get to a stop light or traffic light to make the stop, the engine shuts off as it should. When I let off of the brake and go to accelerate, the engine appears to start, then shuts all of the way off. This creates a problem where the lights on the dash flash and errors start flashing at me because I did not shut off the vehicle while in "Park". I have to push the P button and pump the brakes to get the engine to turn back on. It is a process which feels like it takes forever when other motorists are honking and yelling at me in my disabled vehicle. It probably takes 45-90 seconds, but feels like an eternity. This has unfortunately happened at one of the busiest lights in our city. I almost got rear ended with my 3 kids in the car as I sat trying to get the vehicle to turn back on. This has happened about 4 or 5 times. Now I shut off the Auto Stop every time I get in the vehicle. My kids don't want to ride in the vehicle anymore since they think it is unsafe. I took it to the Honda dealership and they replaced the battery despite telling me it was okay. I have not gone back to turning the Auto Stop on because I feel this is a huge safety issue.
We bought the Honda Pilot to tow a NuCamp 2019 Tab 320 Bookdock Trailer, which has a gross dry weight of 1,848 pounds (well below the 3,500-pound Pilot published towing capacity). We tow the trailer dry, which is without water in the black, gray and fresh tanks. We do not load any items of significant weight in the trailer (two lightweight camp chairs, a 3-inch thick foam mattress topper and pillows). We have towed the trailer from Akron, Ohio, to Twentynine Palms, CA, in 2020 and to Glacier National Park, MT, in 2021. We have also towed it to several Ohio state parks. In the fall of 2021, the vehicle’s transmission began to exhibit unusual performance that manifested itself as gear shifting hesitation in the range of 1,500 – 2,000 RPMs. With that issue, we took it to Great Lakes Honda which changed the transmission fluid (Great Lakes did not flush the transmission) at 28,000 miles. On April 3, 2022, the transmission hesitation began again. I took it to Apple Tree Honda in Arden, NC, (we had moved to Waynesville, NC, in late 2021) on April 5, 2022, a technician found no error codes, but performed a transmission flush and fill.. My issue with this is that the transmission fluid should not degrade in 7,000 miles of normal driving, causing transmission malfunction. The vehicle does seem capable of towing a weight near the published owner's manual maximum of 3,500 pounds. With this interval, I am concerned that the Honda stated operational guidelines are false, and the vehicle’s transmission might continue to degrade as many other Honda Pilots’ transmissions have as reported by many owners. The Apple Tree Honda technician who worked on the Pilot, advised me to add an auxiliary automatic transmission cooler, which is necessary if towing more than 3500 lbs. Since the April service, I have not towed the trailer. I am fearful that the transmission will fail when I am towing the trailer.
The automatic stop start on the engine fails to restart at lights and when stopping in heavy traffic. One time it happened luckily I was in a parking lot I had to get out of the car out of key fob range and it seemed to reset. Before I got out everything on the dash was frozen nothing would turn on or off. I’ve been pressing the button when I get in the car that overrides it but sometimes I forget. When it’s active and does restart at a red light it lurches ahead so much that you almost hit the car in front. It’s a horrible feature. This is ongoing problem.
When stopped in traffic the car will switch to neutral by itself. It will turn off and will have to be restarted. This has happened about 12 times since last July. After the first time it happened I brought the car to the dealership. They were not able to replicate the issue and it has continued since then with greater frequency. (2x last week in 3 days) This has happened when in econ mode, regular mode, right after a tune up, no pattern detected. Sometimes before it happens there would be a spluttering sound of the engine, sometimes a clicking sound, sometimes a collision warning sign flashes right before it happens, sometimes no warning- the car just shuts off and needs to be restarted. When the car is idling there are frequent reminders about pressing the break to shut off the engine. Googling this issue shows other people have the same problem with their 2018 Honda Pilots and other models as well. I believe these incidents are related to ODI Investigation PE 22-005 just opened on 06/03/22.
Engine failed to restart after the auto stop/start feature shut the engine off while I was stopped making a left turn onto a busy road. This is the 3rd time this has happened. I am unable to disable this feature permanently. I have to shut this feature off manually each time I start the car. The prior two times I was stopped on a busy road for a car stopped in front of me and the car failed to restart exposing my family and i to a potential rear end collision. This feature is very dangerous and it is only a matter of time till someone is hurt.
The engine had failed to restart multiple times on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light and in the middle of an intersection with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged. I am very concerned for the safety of myself and occupants because the inability of the vehicle to restart and move forward to clear through the intersection creates a very high risk for a potential collision that could be life threatening. The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer, manufacturer or any appropriate organization. There have been no warning signs alerting me to a potential problem. I started to experience the problems commencing last month (May 2022).
I just read about the auto stop / start difficulties applicable to my vehicle and reportedly corroborated by Honda. I may have twice experienced the same or similar failure. Fortunately, both of my experiences were in my driveway. Safety was a concern in that I could not start the car, and it was blocking my other vehicles. I am unsure of the date, but I think that both were last summer. My recollection is somewhat vague as these were a while ago, and I was able to rectify. In both cases, I pulled into the driveway. I am guessing that the auto stop turned off the engine when I came to a stop. I most likely only pressed the engine start/stop button and put on the emergency brake after coming to a stop. I usually do not press the park button as it unnecessarily restarts the engine. In both cases, tried to restart the car a few minutes later, but it would not start. I don’t know whether or not the car locked. I use the automatic lock feature but may have had a door or the tailgate opened. I don’t know whether or not I used my key fob at all in trying to restart, or whether or not I moved the key fob near the start button. I remember the car seeming like the battery was dead. In one of the cases, I definitely used jumper cables from another car. In the other, I may have used a charger. The article did say that a jump was required to restart in some cases. At some point, the car just came alive. In the case of the jumper cables from another car, I moved the car out of the way (rolled up several yards) and shut it off and then restarted. The car restarted strongly, and the car acted like nothing ever happened. It almost seemed like a security lockout had occurred. Until there is a fix, I would like to know is what sequence is needed to restart if I have this problem again? Can you please help me with this?
the engine fails to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light or road intersection with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged
Car shuts off and does not turn back on properly when stopping while driving. It does not happen all of the time, but when stopping at light/stop sign the car will turn off like it is supposed to but fails to start back up. When it fails to start it will not start back up, because the car is not in park, so the push button will not work until you hit the park button.
The engine automatic idle stop malfunctions on a regular basis. At idle, the engine will stop and is supposed to re-start automatically and on average once per week the engine will not re-start. The car will need to be put into park and then manually restarted. This usually occurs while at a traffic signal and leaves us stuck blocking traffic. It has occurred countless times in the three years we have owned the vehicle. We have taken it back to Honda multiple times to complain but they have never been able to find a problem.
The engine failed to restart on its own from a complete stop at a traffic light on three separate occasions with the Auto Start/Stop function engaged.
Stopped at a traffic light and car didn’t restart. Battery completely drained and left my wife stuck in a main busy road. Auto start feature is causing this to happen.
My car shuts off all the time. I called Honda last year to let them know because I was concerned there had been a recall. I took it to the dealership. They did some transmission work. One time it shut off when I was going 60mph on the Highway. It will also shut off when I’m actively breaking and not to a complete stop yet. I’m very concerned for my safety. Again, I reported this to Honda customer service and they told me there was nothing they could do. This has been going on for over two years.
I was driving on highway in a stop and go traffic with "auto idle" on. The engine was completely shut down when at a complete stop and the vehicle was stalled in the middle of a highway with all kinds dash flashes. I was unable to press the brake and "start" button to restart car or put car in neutral to move the car. Had local Honda dealer's tech on line for about 10 minutes to help restart the car with no success. Contacted insurance company requested a road service. About 55 minutes later the tow truck come and the tow truck drive successfully start the car. Feel unsafe to drive the car and towed the car to local Honda dealer and they could not find any error code in system and failed to repeat the situation.
My vehicle was stopped at a red light in a busy turning lane. When I pressed on the brakes to stop the vehicle the "idle-stop" automatically came on. As my vehicle was idling, I waited for the light to turn green to go. Once I pressed on the gas to go my vehicle went haywire. I couldn't drive forward or put the vehicle in any park mode. Every light started flickering on the dash, MY HAZARDS WOULDN'T COME ON, the car wouldn't start and every time I tried attempting to turn on the car it continued to do the same. I was stalled at a very busy intersection with no hazard lights with two kids, this was frightening. My husband had to restart the vehicle with a battery pack. After getting the car checked, there were no signs of any battery issues or any other problems, the car seemed perfectly fine. Now we have to completely turn off the "idle-stop" before driving or the car will stall, shut off and go haywire. We have to constantly restart the vehicle with a battery pack in order to continue driving. I asked several people and apparently this is a huge issue and problem for many with no help from Honda dealerships to fix it.
My car has been put in PARKING on its own and won't allow me to put it back in DRIVE or REVERSE. I can't turn it off when this happens (I pressed the START/STOP PUSH button, and nothing happens) and the steering WHEEL locked up and the brakes too. This has happened to me on two occasions: one time when I stopped in a red light. When the light changed to GREEN and I released the brake to move, the car went into PARKING and locked up itself, NOTE: when I stopped in the red light the car went into AUTO idle engine mode (April 19 2022). My safety was put in risk because it happened in a busy road. On another occasion it happened when I was entered the garage slowly and I pressed the brake to completely stop, the car went into AUTO idle engine mode and then changed its own to PARKING (April 7). The car just like "turned off" although everything seems ON without warning messages. I couldn't start it until a few minutes later. After this event happened the "CRUISE CONTROL" and "LANE KEEPING Assist" features stopped working. I went to a place, and they checked the battery and the battery is not the issue.
Driver Side Window malfunctioned. Honda has attempted to repair 5 times but it continues to malfunction after working for 2-3 days max.

Just saw the article concerning the automatic braking in Honda CR-V's and Accords. Since purchasing my 2018 Pilot, in September 2018, this has occurred multiple times. While driving "Brake" will flash on my dash screen and a momentary braking action, along with a shimmy in the steering wheel will occur. I have never had a complete stop happen. I went to my local Honda dealers in Modesto and Stockton, CA. Spoke to their service personnel and they both had no idea what might cause this to happen. I then called Honda customer service and they hadn't heard of this problem. After it happened a few more times I called them again. I voiced my concerns of it happening and causing me to be involved in an accident. Laura, the rep I spoke to, gave me a case number (09698440) to reference should I call again. She could provide no explanation for this happening. This does not happen on a regular basis. I can go for long periods of time and nothing will happen. Then it can happen multiple times in a week.
Engine misfires randomly causing car to go into limp mode. Car was unable to go pass 40 mph on while trying to merge highway. It was very dangerous and scary as cars came very close to my bumper. Honda is aware of an injector issue and has extended the warranty, but this should be a safety recall.
The auto engine idle "feature" automatically shuts the engine off when the car comes to a stop. This "feature" is supposed to improve gas mileage, however, I believe it is very dangerous. This "feature" has caused my vehicle to stall numerous times in stop and go traffic, requiring me to completely stop the vehicle, place it in park, and then restart the vehicle. This sequence has created several scary and dangerous situations where I was completely stopped on a busy freeway. This "feature' WILL cause accidents if it has not already caused them. This feature currently cannot be permanently disabled. It must be disabled manually every time I drive the car. I have also contacted Honda directly to notify them of this defect.
The Auto-Idle feature will unexpectedly over-engage while coming to a stop and the entire vehicle will shut off. I am unable to shift, steer, etc. It will also completely shut the engine down when at a complete stop. To be clear, this is not the normal auto-idle. When the full engine disengage happens, the entire vehicle loses power and the dash flashes. The vehicle states, "put into P". Once in "P" for park, the vehicle still will not restart. It is as if the vehicle has to "reset" itself. It has taken upwards of 4 minutes for the vehicle to restart. This has happened on a highway during construction traffic, approaching a stop sign, slowing at a red light on multiple occasions. I have almost been rear-ended as a result on mutiple occasions. I am not even able to put the vehicle in Neutral to move it to a safe spot. Honda informed me that I "just need to disengage this feature each and every time I start the vehicle" . That is not the solution. This feature should be permanently disabled by Honda. Immediately.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the keyless control module unit would shut off. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to her residence. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the keyless control module unit to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,372.
To Whom It May Concern: I writing in regards to a possible defect with my 2018 Honda Pilot. It is having internal electrical issues stated by the dealership and needs a keyless control module unit replaced. However, my car has been in the dealership since November 15, 2021 due to Honda not being able to get the part needed to repair. American Honda has failed to remedy the defect in my vehicle within a reasonable time period. Can someone please assist me on how I rectify this situation. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts are not available.
The adaptive cruise control doesnt pick up a vehicle in my lane but a vehicle to either side of me and brakes hard. Also the automatic emergency braking will pick up vehicles in the opposite lane going past me and brake hard.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that there was no windshield washer fluid coming from the nozzle while attempting to clean the windshield. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 MPH, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle with the windshield washer fluid warning light illuminated. While attempting to replenish the washer fluid reservoir the windshield washer fluid was spilling. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that the windshield washer motor system needed to be replaced; however, the parts to repair the system were on backorder. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Pilot. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate and then lunged forward. The contact sustained whiplash from the vehicle lunging forward abruptly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the independent mechanic could not duplicate the failure. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
Hello, below are answers to suggested questions to help describe what happened. -What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Unknown but a constant "chirping" sound is heard from the car engine area when car engine is on or "running similar to descriptions at link https://www.piloteers.org/threads/2018-honda-pilot-chirping-noise-audio-file.160027/ -How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Unknown. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Negative -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Few weeks or month after purchase in Sept 2018, dealer serviced the car and the sound disappeared but reappeared recently (approximately 3 years later). -Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No symptoms. First appearance mentioned in above answer.
I was driving my kids to school when I stopped at the school intersection. I go to press on the accelerator as I normally would and it would not drive, so I pressed on it a little harder as I was turning left since there were cars approaching. My vehicle suddenly jolted, making myself and the kids shift/jump from the force. I then proceeded driving down the road and let go of the accelerator, and my SUV suddenly started to feel like it was slowing itself down instantaneously. It felt like it was trying to make the vehicle's speed go down to 0. I then pressed on the accelerator again to prevent it from happening, but it continued to do so whenever I let go. I had to stop at the school's parking lot and turn off the SUV completely. When I turned it on again and began to drive, it was functioning normally. Since then, it has happened about 3 or 4 times, 1 of which happened on the expressway, which was way scarier. I had to get out of the expressway as it was dangerous. Just yesterday, I had a separate issue with the SUV that may seem related in retrospect. My SUV did not want to turn on. I experienced all of the dashboard lights flickering, and being unable to start it. It was not the battery because at some times, the radio would turn on, the lights, and the windows/locks would function normally. I was unable to get the vehicle to go to neutral, or anything then on. When the lights were not flickering, it presented me with the smart entry system light problem. Soon after, all the lights on my dashboard turned on and stated there were air bag problem, brake problem, abs problem, and etc... My vehicle is currently being looked at.
My transmission is having problems. During acceleration the car will jolt forward, also when using the brakes. The dealer did recognize the problem but said it is not covered by warranty and that transmission needed to be flushed.. which was going to cost $500. He said had it been flushed before they may cover it, yet Honda doesn’t recommend a flush before 45000 per my owners manual. Very dangerous.. could cause an accident with Speed going up and down at a moments notice without you doing it
The Auto Engine Idle feature does not work properly. When the car is at a light, the engine idle is activated and the car is put into a slumber mode, when the brake is depressed. On occasion, when it is time to go, the car then turns off when the gas is depressed. This is extremely dangerous as then you are stuck at an active intersection and need to turn the car back on. I've discovered a wealth of other owners with this issue here. My issue is consistent with their reports. https://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/pilot/car-stall-problems.php In my research, the Honda dealers are not doing anything to fix it, and there has been no thoughtful feedback from the company. I will be taking this to our dealer as well, but am not hopeful given that it appears to be a fundamental design / software issue, not repairable in the fields. I literally have found no evidence that it is fixable without maybe a software upgrade.
around 30k miles the keyless system degrades. Car won't start, says key is not present. afraid of getting stranded somewhere. forum shows MANY people having this issue, I believe a recall for this is needed. Problem seems to just get worse and worse over time. happens with both key fobs, replaced batteries no difference. https://www.piloteers.org/threads/keyless-start-system-problem-error.142385/
I have been experiencing issues with the auto engine idle stop feature. The electrical system (radio & blue tooth) cut off and on when the auto engine idle stop tries to start again. There have even been several instances of the car cutting off completely and having to be restarted. This is very unsafe. One of the instances of the car cutting off occurred in traffic as we stopped and then started moving again. There were several people in the car at the time. The dealer has not been able to recreate the issue.
The driver side sun visor fails to swing down. Dangerous to drive in bright sun Replace commercially and mechanic said this is a common Pilot failure Why is this not a recall?
The High beams are giving a warning when driving during the day and at night. “High support system problem “. I have taken it to the dealership and they can’t find the issue and I have reported twice and they still can’t figure it out. The high beams come on and off during driving which is a safety issue for both drivers, this issue continues to occur since July 2021 and is reoccurring.
"SUA, Sudden Unwanted Acceleration". I was in the process of parking on the 6th floor of a parking ramp in Rochester MN, I had selected my parking slot and drove very slowly half way into my parking slot. As i was stationary about 3 meters from the front wall and getting ready to reverse for a bit in order to better align in between the white lines in my slot and before i shifted gears to reverse and while my foot was still on the brake, the vehicle experience a sudden full-speed acceleration crashing the vehicle against the wall with full force, the dashboard showed a message that the airbag malfunctioned and could not deploy. Had not there been a wall but just rails in front of my parking slot, i am afraid the vehicle would have flown from the sixth floor into the ground. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle is still under my name but in possession of GEICO, available for inspection, but because it was a total loss i was not able to bring it to the Honda dealership where i bought it. There were no warning signs that this would happen.
"Idle Stop System" fails to successfully restart the engine and results in a stall. Safety is put at risk as the car becomes immobilized at a traffic intersection, red lights, middle of the highway. Anywhere that you came to a complete stop and were not able to get the vehicle to reengage. I have not yet taken the vehicle to the dealer, this issue has happened multiple times and has also been very well documented by others on the internet https://www.carproblemzoo.com/honda/pilot/car-stall-problems.php https://www.piloteers.org/threads/elite-shuts-off-at-stop-light.157005/ The vehicle has not been inspected at this time No warning lamps or symptoms appear prior. When you lift your foot off the brake pedal the vehicle stalls and you are unable to drive the vehicle
While stopped at a stop light/sign the engine stalls, dies, shifts to neutral (push button shift) leaving me disabled in the middle of the road. This issue has also occurred while slowing to take a sharp corner. The engine died at approximately 25 mph while slowing for the corner. I had taken it to the dealership and they claimed they could not reproduce the problem. I took the vehicle home, then later that day I drove it approximately 17 miles to a racetrack that I work at part time. At 12:30 am, I was leaving to head home, and while idling in the parking lot, it had died yet again and took several minutes to restart. Once it did restart, I had no throttle response in park, neutral or in drive. I shut the vehicle off and restarted it with no other issues for the 17 mile trip back home. The dealership suggested that I take picture/video when it happens, which poses another safety concern to do that in the event I am driving when this event occurs. This is a severe safety concern as there is the potential for the engine to die/stall during a hard braking event in which I could lose power brakes. Only the dealership has inspected the vehicle, and the only lights that have been illuminated on the dash was the battery light and the caution light. This issue has been going on for approximately a month and a half. After completing some research, I have noticed there is a large collection of this or very similar complaints.
SECOND SEATBELT FAILURE. I previously reported second row passenger seatbelt that was found completely detached from anchor, at point where belt was looped and sewn. This was replaced by dealer. The second row middle belt locked in extended position at that time, and I requested dealer check this and repair or replace as needed. This was supposedly also done. The row 2 middle belt is rarely used, using first time since repair was reportedly done, found webbing that is frayed 50%+ through, in portion that is retracted when not being used. I checked all belts when I found this, and found fraying at the 3rd row middle seatbelt (buckle portion webbing), with associated damage to the plastic where the third row seat folds down. It appears the belt webbing has been rubbing on this plastic part of seat back, causing damage. This belt is also rarely used: not at all in last 13 months, and around 5-6 times, every 6-10 weeks in non-pandemic times. The third row is normally kept folded down, with the middle row belt retracted into ceiling when not in use. I am left wondering if the geometry of the belt placement is causing mechanical/friction damage, if there are sharp edges in the 2nd row middle belt storage (overhead), or if there was chemical damage to some belts in the factory. It is odd and concerning to find multiple issues with the belts, and I want all to be replaced, and their housing inspected for possible points causing the damage.
Push start does not work, says wireless key issue. Car does not start up (crank) and it does not turn completely off (it's stuck in start/ignition on, car is not running). Alarm would randomly discharge and have to relock the car, but would go off again. The ignition would flicker on and off constantly draining the battery. Doors would eventually unlock and stay unlock.
Transmission temperature too hot Seems like every 8k miles I have this pop up. Only been serviced at Honda.
There is a noticeable 'Chirp' Noise when taking curves when i slow for the curve and accelerate out of the curve. Yes, it is available to be inspected. Had this in my 2016 Honda Pilot Touring AWD and we had to replace the entire transmission due to failure with the gears. Unsure if will be a risk other than being stranded somewhere if it fails. No police. No system errors or warnings.
When my vehicle has the auto idle stop feature turned on, there are several times when I have been sitting at a stop light or in a median waiting to pull across or merge into traffic, and this feature engages and when you take your foot off the brake and the engine is supposed to auto restart, the engine stops completely instead and shifts itself into neutral which requires you to have to put vehicle in park and completely restart the whole car. Has been happening several times in the last year. I have taken it in to have the battery checked and it checks fine. The car is not throwing any codes. This can be particularly dangerous when you are in a median trying to pull across a busy Highway as your car just completely dies on you. Also a problem when you are at a red light and it turns green and everyone starts rolling and your car completely dies, this increases your chance of being rear-ended. If I manually turn the auto idle stop feature off when I initially turn the car on, this problem does not happen...... but this is every easy to forget as this is an automatic feature when your car is initially started..
The auto engine idle feature engaged at a stop light as usual. When I moved my foot from the brake to the accelerator, the car shut off, shifted into neutral and would not start. This was on a major highway. It took several minutes to start again, while I was stalled in dangerous traffic.
THE CAR SHUT OFF WHEN TRYING TO RECOVER FROM IDLE STOP MODE. ALL LIGHTS TURNED OFF. THE CAR BECOMES INVISIBLE WHEN DARK.
1. WHEN ACCELERATING GRADUALLY ON THE 2018 HONDA PILOT TOURING AWD FROM COMPLETE STOP, THE CAR JERKS HARD AFTER THE CAR STARTS MOVING - PROBABLY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. THE CAR IS IN AUTOMATIC DRIVE MODE. 2.THE 2018 HONDA PILOT TOURING AWD TURNS OFF ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY. WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TRAFFIC, SOMETIMES THE CAR TURNS OFF THE ENGINE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY BAD WHEN ON A UPHILL AND IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, CAUSING PANIC. THE SUDDEN ENGINE STOPS ALSO HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY WHEN STOPPING TO SHIFT TO REVERSE INTO MY GARAGE- THIS CAUSES A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS CARS ARE COMING AND CAN GET INTO T-BONE COLLISION.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM AN IDLE POSITION THERE IS A 2-3 SECOND DELAY. VERY SLOW TO BET MOVING AND VERY DANGEROUS IN HIGH VOLUME TRAFFIC. THE CAR OFTEN TIMES JERKS WHEN I AM ACCELERATING IN TO A HIGHER GEAR.
I WAS MADE AWARE OF AN URGENT SAFETY RECALL THAT THE DRIVER & FRONT PASSENGER SEATS WERE ASSEMBLED WITH IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURERED RIVITS USED TO SECURE THE SLIDE RAIL FRAME TO THE VEHICLE FLOOR. I SCHEDULED AN APPT FOR THE RECALL ON 3/02/19 @ HUNTINGTON HONDA. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD THE PARTS & WOULD DO THE RECALL WHEN I BROUGJT MY CAR FOR THE APPT. THEY DID NOT DO THE WORK & TOLD ME THAT IS HONDA'S PROCEDURE IS THAT THEY NEVER REPAIR RECALLS ON THE 1ST APPT. THEN I MADE AN APPT AT HONDA CITY FOR THE RECALL REPAIR TO BE DONE ON 03/14/20 I MADE SURE THEY HAD THE PARTS BEFORE THE APPT.. AGAIN THE REPAIR WAS NOT DONE AND I WAS TOLD THEY NEVER REPAIR IT THE 1ST TIME THEY SEE IT. I SCHEDULED THE NEXT APPT AT HONDA CITY FOR THE RECALL REPAIR ON 09/05/20 & AGAIN IT WAS NOT DONE. I BELIEVE HONDA WILL CONTINUE WASTING MY TIME & CAUSING ME EXPENSES & LOSS OF SALARY EVERY TIME I MAKE AN APPT FOR THIS RECALL REPAIR. I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY HAVE ANY INTENTION OF EVER REPAIRING THIS RECALL.
THE SUV JOLTS AND DECREASES SPEED . IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO TAKE OFF AGAIN. THE JOLTING CAN BE STRONG AND IT HAS DECREASED ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR A FAMILY VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALER I JUST NEEDED A NEW BATTERY I DID CHANGE IT AND IT STILL DOES IT THEN I WAS TOLD THEY FOUND NOTHING.
WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JUNE 2018 I NOTICED THAT THE HOOD VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I BROUGHT IT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP THE DAY AFTER PURCHASE AND AGAIN AT THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. BOTH TIMES I WAS INFORMED THAT DUE TO THE LIGHTER METALS USED IN THE HOOD TO SAVE WEIGHT, THE VIBRATION WAS NORMAL. ON MARCH 5, 2021, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH, I NOTICED A LOUD "SLAPPING" NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ALUMINUM AROUND THE HOOD SIDE LATCH (METAL HOOK) MECHANISM HAD TORN ABOUT 75% OF THE WAY AROUND THE ATTACHMENT POINTS (THREE BOLTS). IN ORDER TO KEEP THE HOOD SHUT, AND FROM SEPARATING, IT HAD TO BE TAPED TO THE VEHICLE BODY. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS PURCHASED FROM AND ALL WHO INSPECTED IT AGREED THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURERS' DEFECT AND A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. HONDA CORPORATE REPRESENTATIVES AGREED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED INTO PARK. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT AS A SAFETY FEATURE IN THE VEHICLE, DEBRIS MAY CAUSE THE FEATURE TO ACTIVATE INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT THEY BOUGHT A SPECIAL VACUUM TO CONSISTENTLY AND CONSTANTLY REMOVE DEBRIS FROM THE AREA HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,700.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN REVERSED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY TO GO ON THE MAIN ROAD, WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE CONTINUE TO ACCELERATED AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL THE VEHICLE WENT UP ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A POLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BRAKING THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAINED INJURIES BUT STATED THAT THE NEXT DAY HE EXPERIENCED DIZZINESS AND BACK PAINED. THE CONTACT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WILL GET BACK TO HIM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT YET CONTACT HIM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
MY FIANC WAS DRIVING TO MY DOCTOR TO FOLLOW UP SURGERY, TWO BLOCKS FROM 2 BLOCKS FROM THE HOUSE WE APPROACHED TO TRAFFIC LIGHT WAS ON RED AND SHE WAS APPLYING THE BRAKES WHEN WE WERE JUST ABOUT AT LIGHT SUDDENLY THE CAR ACCELERATED GIRLFRIEND HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR KEPT GOING WE STRIKE A CAR AND HIT A PARKED CAR BAD ACCIDENT, 3 PEOPLE GOT HURT.EVERY TIME I WATCH THE VIDEO I AM MORE CONVINCED THAT SOMETHING WHEN WRONG WITH CAR SYSTEMS THIS HAPPENS ON KENNEDY BOULEVARD AND AUDOBON ST ON 12/11/2020 AROUND 11:05 AM SUNNY CLEAR DAY. I HAVE A VIDEO.*DT
I FOUND THE SEATBELT END THAT SHOULD ATTACH THE BELT TO THE ANCHOR ON MY PASSENGER SIDE SECOND ROW DETACHED TODAY. THE BELT WEBBING IS FRAYED THROUGH BOTH THE WEBBING AND ALSO THE SEWN PORTION THAT MAKES THE LOOP ATTACHING THE BELT TO THE FLOOR/ANCHOR. THE ANCHOR IS BELOW A PANEL, SO I CAN'T SEE IF THERE WAS A SHARP EDGE THERE THAT RUBBED/CUT THE AREA, OR IT JUST UNRAVELED THROUGH AN AREA THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY SEWN. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, AND MY DAUGHTER REACHED FOR THE BELT TO BUCKLE (SHE USES BOOSTER), NOTICING THE DETACHMENT BEFORE WE DROVE.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT MY CHURCH WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. AS I NEARED THE END OF THE SPACE, THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD. IT WENT OVER THE CONCRETE BARRIER AT THE END OF THE SPACE AND CAME TO A STOP WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE HIT A TREE AND WAS KNOCKED TO A PERPENDICULAR POSITION TO THE AXLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT CAUSED THE CAR TO STOP. THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR SURGED FORWARD ABOUT 5-6 FEET AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE AND I WAS SLOWLY MOVING INTO THE PARKING SPACE.
AFTER ABOUT 20 MILES OF FREEWAY DRIVING I EXITED AND STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. I BELIEVE MY CAR WENT INTO THE ENGINE STOP MODE WHERE IT TURNS OFF THE ENGINE TO SAVE GAS. IT DID NOT RESTART AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CAR TOLD ME TO PUT IT INTO PARK, SO I DID. I TOUCHED THE CAR START BUTTON AND IT WOULD NOT START IT KEPT REPORTING AN ERROR ON THE SCREEN. I PANIC'D BECAUSE MY FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR AND THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN WITH CARS COMING FROM BEHIND VERY QUICKLY I KEPT PRESSING THE BUTTON GET THE CAR TO START BUT IT WOULD NOT. IT KEPT REPORTING ERRORS. FINALLY,AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THE HONDA LOGO SHOWED ON THE SCREEN INDICATING THE CAR WAS EFFECTIVELY REBOOTING AND THE CAR STARTED AFTER THAT. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR ANY CAR. RELATED: I'VE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THAT THE CAR ENGAGES THE ENGINE STOP FEATURE FAR TOO QUICKLY, LITERALLY WITHIN A SECOND OF COMING TO A STOP, WHICH IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU MAY JUST BE STOPPING QUICKLY AT A STOP SIGN OR EXIT WHERE YOU'RE REQUIRED TO STOP. THE CAR CUTS OUT AND IT TAKES 3-5 SECONDS TO GET ACCELERATION. AFTER REPORTING THIS TO HONDA DIRECTLY THEY DECLINED TO CHANGE THE FEATURE TO BE FULLY DISABABLE AND I'VE SINCE GOTTEN INTO A COUPLE OF SITUATIONS WHERE I NEED TO GO, BUT MY CAR WAS IN THE STOPPED MODE B/C I COME TO FULL STOPS AT STOP SIGNS, APPARENTLY UNLIKE HONDA'S TESTERS. THIS FEATURE IS ONLY ENABLE ON ELITE MODELS OF THE PILOT AND IS FAULTY, IT IS DANGEROUS AND NEEDS A FULL REVIEW. AS SOMEONE WHO WAS ALSO IMPACTED BY THE SATURN IGNITION SWITCH INCIDENT THIS SEEMS VERY SIMILAR.
FAILURE TO START. MY CAR WAS LOCATED IN MY DRIVEWAY. AS SOON AS I PUSHED THE START BUTTON THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF NO POWER TO ANY PART. NO LIGHTS WERE WORKING, NOTHING, COULDN'T EVEN LOCK IT WITH KEY FOB. THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. WITH ONLY 17K MILE ON A ALMOST 3 YEAR OLD CAR THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. AFTER I FEW MINUTES, CHECKING THE BATTERY, AND MANY ATTEMPTS TO START, IT EVENTUALLY STARTED WITH A SPUTTER AND THE GAUGES JUMPING.
VEHICLE IS NOT STARTING ON FIRST ATTEMPT. SEVERAL TIMES THE PUSH START BUTTON NEEDS TO BE PRESSED BEFORE IT DOES.
HONDA IS SAYING THE POOR PAINT FINISH ON TAILGATE IS NOT DEFECTIVE MATERIAL OR WORKMANSHIP NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY PAINT FINISH HAS TWO SPOTS WHERE PAINT IS LIGHTER AND CLEAR COAT IN PROXIMITY HAS FAILED CAUSING PAINT BUBBLED AND CHIPPED. NORMAL DRIVING, NO DAMAGE.
CAR STARTS TO STALL WHEN ACCELERATING AND WHEN I LET GO OF THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. *TR
HONDA PILOT ADAPTIVE SPEED CONTROL (ACC) WORKS WELL ON FREEWAY FOLLOWING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND MAINTAINING A SAFE DISTANCE UNTIL THE CAR AHEAD SLOWS TO APPROX 22 MPH WHEN THE ACC BRAKING FEATURE STOPS WORKING AND THE HONDA PILOT CONTINUES COASTING CREATING A HAZARDOUS SITUATION AND POTENTIAL TO RAM THE CAR AHEAD. THIS FEATURE IS CORRECTED WITH A LOW SPEED FOLLOW FEATURE IN OTHER HONDA AND LATER HONDA PILOT MODELS, AND SHOULD BE RETROACTIVELY ADDED TO THE 2018 HONDA PILOT TO PREVENT REAR ENDING THE CAR AHEAD. *TR
I HAVE A 2018 HONDA PILOT EX 2WD, VIN NUMBER [XXX] WITH 57,100 MILES THAT I PURCHASED FROM EARNHARDT HONDA AVONDALE, AZ ON FEB 13, 2018. ON MARCH 1, 2020 AT 0830 MY FAMILY OF 6 AND I WERE SEATED IN OUR CAR IN OUR GARAGE PREPARING TO LEAVE TO GO TO CHURCH. AS I PUSHED THE START BUTTON WE WERE ALL SHOCKED AS WE HEARD A LOUD BANG AND SAW SMOKE SPEWING FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR HOOD. I QUICKLY INSTRUCTED MY FAMILY TO GET OUT OF THE CAR AND MOVE TO SAFETY. I THEN OPENED THE HOOD TO INSPECT WHAT HAPPENED. AFTER REMOVING THE PLASTIC COVER FROM THE BATTERY I FOUND OUT THAT THE BATTERY WAS CRACKED AND LEAKING FLUID. THE EXPLOSION WAS SO POWERFUL THAT IT CRACKED THE BATTERY AND THE BATTERY HOLDER. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
THE CAR LOCKS ITSELF WHILE THE KEY FOB IS INSIDE THE CAR AFTER THE DRIVER CLOSES THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE KEY IS NOW LOCKED INSIDE THE CAR.
THE PUSH BUTTON START FEATURE WILL NOT START THE VEHICLE. NO ERROR MESSAGES ARE DISPLAYED. 4 TO 7 REPEATED ATTEMPTS MUST BE MADE IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE.
THE VEHICLE WOULD "STALL OUT" AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN I WAS IN "AUTO IDLE-STOP" AND PRESSED ON THE GAS. I FIRST NOTICED THAT THE AUTO IDLE-STOP WAS HESITATING WHEN IT WOULD START UP. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE RADIO WOULD "CUT OUT". AFTER THAT, THE VEHICLE WOULD JUST STALL OUT AND I WOULD HAVE TO PUSH PARK, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THEN PUSH START. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.
HONDA PILOT 2018 WITH 20,555 MILES HAS A DIGITAL DISPLAY. CAR WAS ON ADAPTIVE CRUISE. WEATHER WAS FINE. MY SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 61MPH WHEN THE SPEED LIMIT CHANGED TO 65MPH AS HWY BECAME I73. I USED + ACCELERATION BUTTON ON RIGHT HAND COLUMN 4 TOUCHES TO INCREASE SPEED 1 MPH PER TOUCH TO 65MPH. CAR BEGAN TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATED TO 79MPH (LAST DIGITAL SPEED I SAW) AND I?M SURE HIGHER AS I TRIED TO GAIN CONTROL. . MY FOOT HAD BEEN OFF PEDAL WHILE CRUISE WAS ON SO I LOOKED AND TOUCHED THE GAS PEDDLE WITH MY RIGHT FOOT TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. AT THIS POINT I BELIEVE I TURNED OFF ADAPTIVE CRUISE BY THE MAIN BUTTON ON RIGHT HAND COLUMN BUT CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I PUSHED THE DE ACCELERATION BUTTON - MANY TIMES AND CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN UNCONTROLLABLY FAST REALIZING THIS I THEN PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL HARD AND THAT BROKE THE CONTROL OF THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. CROWN HONDA IN GREENSBORO SAID NO CODE WAS STORED FOR THE INCIDENT
FIRST WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW AFTER ONE MONTH A MESSAGE POPPED UP SAYING 'TRANSMISSION PROBLEM' ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR ONLY HAD 2,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA DEALER. THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING AND SAID DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPED AND THEY WERE ABLE TO REMOVE THE MESSAGE WITHOUT DOING ANY REPAIR. NOW THE 2018 HONDA PILOT HAS 24,000 MILES ON IT , THE VEHICLE JERKS AND I FELT THE TRANSMISSION FLARED AND HARD SHIFT IN GEAR 2ND TO 3RD. IT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR. IT KEEPS ON JERKING WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AT 30 MILES OF HOUR.
VEHICLE CAME EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL CROSS CONTACT LX SPORT TIRES. I HAVE DRIVEN CAR SINCE OCT 2018. TIRES WERE IMMEDIATELY LOSING AIR.. THEY HAVE BEEN FILLED SEVERAL TIMES WITH AIR. NOW THE 4 TIRES ARE SPLITTING EVERYWHERE THERE WAS A SEAM. 20000 MILES AND ROTATED AS REQUIRED AT HONDA DEALERSHIP. JUST NOTICED. NO IDEA WHEN IT ACTUALLY STARTED
AFTER ONLY A FEW MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP AND ROUGHLY 6,500 MILES MY WINDSHIELD HAS TWO LARGE CRACKS IN IT FROM ROCKS HITTING IT. IT JUST SEEMS A BIT RIDICULOUS THAT THESE WINDSHIELDS ARE SO SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE IN SUCH A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME.
ON 11/2/19, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOWED THE MESSAGE "TRANSMISSION PROBLEM" ON THE DASHBOARD. AFTER THIS MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED, THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY STAY IN FIRST GEAR. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PARK THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS JUST UNDER 16 MONTHS OLD AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON, I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE THE GEARS ONCE AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED HONDA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS OURISMAN HONDA IN TYSON'S CORNER VIRGINIA. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A SERVICE ADVISOR AT OURISMAN HONDA ON 11/4/19. HE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND NO REPAIR WAS MADE. WHEN I TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED, THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT IT IS LIKELY THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A "COMPUTER GLITCH" AND THAT SIMPLY RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM IF IT HAPPENED IN THE FUTURE. I TOLD HIM THAT IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE TO RESTART A VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION OFTEN EXHIBITS A "STICKY CLUTCH", DELAYED GEAR SHIFTING (SOMETIMES AS MUCH AS 2 SECONDS OF DELAY BEFORE THE GEAR IS SHIFTED), AND OFTEN TIMES A "CLUNK" IS HEARD WHEN THE GEAR IS CHANGED. THE PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS IN EARLY GEARS (3RD, 4TH, AND 5TH GEAR) WHEN I LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AT APPROXIMATELY THE TIME THE TRANSMISSION IS READY TO SHIFT TO THE NEXT HIGHEST GEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN WHEN THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB WAS TOUCHED WHILE IN THE CONTACT'S POCKET. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE CONTACT CALLED AUTONATION HONDA AT 303-578-6112 (LOCATED AT 2999 WEST 104TH AVENUE, WESTMINSTER, CO 80234) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW FOR WHICH THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,500. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA PILOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED, LUNGED, AND LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. DCH HONDA OF TEMECULA (26755 YNEZ RD, TEMECULA, CA 92591, (951) 268-9197) WAS CONTACTED AND SCHEDULED A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE NAVIGATION SCREEN OF THE VEHICLE BLACKS OUT INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHEN I TURN ON THE VEHICLE. I HAVE CALLED THE NEAREST DEALER AT LEAST 3 TIMES OVER THE PAST 3 MONTHS AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT HONDA IS SUPPOSEDLY WORKING ON THE ISSUE- BUT NOTHING SO FAR. SOMETIMES THE PROBLEM CLEARS WHEN I TURN OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART BUT I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO WORK OR NOT. CONTACTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE- NO SATISFACTION.
WE'VE HAD OUR PILOT FOR 8 OR 9 MONTHS AND WE'VE ALREADY HAD TO HAVE THE HOME LINK BUTTON REPLACED, THE ALIGNMENT DONE TWICE AND NOW THE MASTER CYLINDER IS FAILING. WE ARE TAKING IT IN TODAY TO HAVE THE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED. IT WAS NOT PROPERLY PRESSURIZING THE BRAKE LINES AND WAS CAUSING A WOBBLING IN THE BRAKES AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN A REAL PAIN TO WORK WITH AND DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE UNTIL MONTHS LATER WHEN IT HAPPENED ON A RIDGELINE. LAST HONDA I'LL EVER BUY.
LANE KEEP ASSIST WILL TRIGGER MULTIPLE TIMES ON TWO LANE ROADS. IT WILL ACTIVATE WITH THE "BRAKE" MESSAGE IN THE CLUSTER. THE SYSTEM IS TOTALLY UNUSABLE AND UNSAFE. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WITH A NO PROBLEM FOUND ANSWER. DURING A ONE AND A HALF OR TWO HOUR DRIVE THE SYSTEM WILL TRIGGER FIFTEEN TIMES OR MORE. AVERAGE SPEED IS ABOUT 50 TO 55 MILES PER HOUR. IT HAPPENS ON STRAIGHT OR CURVED ROADWAYS. CLEAR WEATHER AND IN THE SUN OR SHADE.
6/13 5:10 PM ON I-95 N 30 MINUTES SOUTH OF FREDERICKSBURG, VA WAS GOING 78 MPH WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN 'BLIND SPOT SENSOR ERROR' APPEARED ON DASH AND WITHIN 10 SECONDS TRANSMISSION ERROR - SEE OWNERS MANUAL - GET SOMEWHERE SAFE APPEARED ON THE DASH. THE 2018 HONDA PILOT ELITE IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED INTO NEUTRAL AND WENT FROM 78 MPH TO 60 MPH IN 10 SECONDS. IT WAS A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. IT TOOK THEM A WEEK TO PUT IN THE REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION AND SINCE THAT TIME, THE FOLLOWING HAS HAPPENED: 7/1 NIGHT TIME ABOUT 8 PM WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN WHEN I WENT TO GO IT STARTED THEN STUTTERED - IT SEEM LIKE IT TRYING TO FIND THE GEAR' THEN FINALLY SEEM LIKE IT WENT INTO THIRD GEAR' IT DID THE SAME THING ON THE WAY HOME IN A DIFFERENT AREA. 7/2 ON THE WAY TO DEALER WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN -SLOW DOWN TO MAKE THE TURN, AND WHILE MAKING THE TURN I HIT THE GAS AND IT STUTTERED AGAIN 7/2 IN VIRGINIA AFTER FREDERICKSBURG AND BEFORE MANASSAS ON 95 N. I TURNED OFF AN EXIT AND STARTED TO DO A U-TURN... I CAME TO A STOP TO WAIT ON TRAFFIC AND WHEN I STARTED UP AGAIN, IT STARTED AND THEN STUTTERED AND THEN WENT 7/3 AT ABOUT 1030 PM ........13106 WAS GOING ABOUT 10-15 MPH PUSH THE ACCELERATOR DOWN AND THE ENGINE JUST REVVED AND DIDN'T GO SO I HIT THE BRAKES SO THAT I WOULD STOP AT THE LIGHT AS IT WAS YELLOW AT THE TIME 7/4 IT STUTTERED SEVERAL TIMES. SEVERAL TIMES WHEN COASTING THEN HITTING THE GAS IT WOULD STUTTER, SOMETIMES JERK AND SOMETIMES MAKE A NOISE IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALER 3 TIMES SINCE THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. ONE DAY I SAT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER 4 HOURS AND WAITED ON THE DISTRICT REP - HE DID SHOW UP BUT WOULD NOT SPEAK TO ME AND WOULD NOT LET ME DRIVE THE CAR WHEN HE RODE IN IT TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON.
SINCE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 12,181 MILES IN JUNE 2019 ON A 2018 HONDA PILOT ELITE, OTHER ISSUES HAVE POPPED UP. THE FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEM HAS GONE OFF TWICE ON A 2 LANE STATE HIGHWAY. IN BOTH CASES, I WAS ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 50 MILES AN HOUR WITH NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME FOR AT LEAST A MILE OR TWO, NO VEHICLES COMING THE OTHER WAY, ON A STRAIGHT PART OF THE ROAD, NOTHING IN THE ROAD AND NOTHING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALER SAID THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO THEM WHEN DRIVING THE CAR, SO THERE'S NOTHING TO FIX & HONDA CORPORATION SAID THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING TO FIX. ONE NIGHT WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IT IT STOPPED RAINING BUT WAS VERY MUGGY AND THERE WAS MOISTURE ON THE WINDSHIELD THE AUTOMATIC WIPERS DID NOT COME ON AND THE DEFROST DID NOT WORK - THIS WAS OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL HOURS OF DRIVING TRYING DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES ON DEFROST AND NOTHING HELPED. EVEN WITH THE WIPERS ON MANUALLY, VISIBILITY WAS POOR. ALSO, ONE DAY AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING ALL DAY I DROVE IT 20 MILES AND THE CAR DID NOT COOL DOWN - I HAD TO RUN THE AIR CONDITIONER ON FULL BLAST THE WHOLE TIME. THE CAR IS NOT COOLING LIKE IT SHOULD! OF COURSE, WHEN THEY TRIED IT OUT IT HAD ACTUALLY ALREADY BEEN DRIVEN 20 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE AIR IN EARLY MORNING AND THEN THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT TESTED IT OUT, THERE WAS COOL AIR AND SAID IT'S BLOWING JUST FINE NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 HONDA PILOT. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD VIOLENTLY AND MADE A LOUD NOISE. ALSO, THE RPMS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HEADQUARTER HONDA (17700 FL-50, CLERMONT, FL 34711, (407) 395-7500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN UNKNOWN PART ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAULTY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,200.

ON SATURDAY I WAS DRIVING MY 10 MONTH OLD 2018 HONDA PILOT WITH APPROX. 7,000 MILES ON IT TO AIRPORT TO PICK UP MY DAUGHTER. MY HUSBAND AND 3 YOUNG KIDS WERE MERGING ONTO AIRPORT PROPERTY ON A EXTREMELY BUSY AFTERNOON, MY VEHICLE STALLED. IT WAS LIKE A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL FAILURE. I WAS LEFT STRANDED AT 7PM, IN DARK, WITH 3 SCARED CHILDREN, UNABLE TO ALERT OTHER HOSTILE DRIVERS AROUND ME BY TURNING ON FLASHERS. AFTER NOT BEING ABOUT TO PUSH VEHICLE OUT WAY OF HEAVY TRAFFIC, I WAS FORCED TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR ASSISTANCE WHICH PROVED TO BE A SERIOUS CHALLENGE DUE TO THE HORNS AND DEROGATORY LANGUAGE OF OTHER DRIVERS AND AS A RESULT MY CHILDREN HAVING AN EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWN IN THE BACK SEAT. MY HUSBAND WAS FORCED TO LEAVE THE KIDS AND I IN THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN ORDER TO GET TO OUR 14 YR OLD DAUGHTER (TRAVELING ALONE) OFF HER FLIGHT. ONCE POLICE ARRIVED, THEY PARKED UNIT BEHIND ME IN ORDER TO PROTECT US FROM BEING HIT. THE POLICE SEARCHED MANUAL AND INTERNET AND WERE UNABLE TO GET VEHICLE INTO EMERGENCY NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE DRUG ONTO TOW TRUCK AND TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. 2 DAYS LATER, HONDA INFORMED ME IT WAS A "DEAD BATTERY." "BATTERY?" I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 20 YEAR AND HAVE NEVER BEEN LEFT ON HIGHWAY, IN MOTION DUE TO A BATTERY. AFTER SOME READING OF MY OWN, I LEARNED ABOUT A FUEL SAVING FEATURE ON MY CAR CALLED "AUTO IDLE-STOP". WITH THIS FEATURE MY ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHEN BRAKE COMPRESSED IN ORDER TO SAVE ON FUEL. WITH A DEAD BATTERY, THE BATTERY WAS UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. SO BASICALLY THIS FUEL SAVING FEATURE TURNS OUT TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE INSTEAD OF BEING STRANDED IN A PARKING LOT , I WAS STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY. AFTER FURTHER READING ABOUT THIS FEATURE, I LEARNED THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE AUTOMATICALLY ENABLED THIS AUTO-IDLE IF BATTERY CHARGE WAS LOW, WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN.
THE SUNROOF SHATTERED/EXPLODED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH. THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE. NO EXPLANATION FOR WHY.
SIDE DOOR GLASS SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODING. WE WERE IN MOTION 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. NO OTHER CARS AROUND US OR AROUND ANY HOUSES. WINDOW WENT BOOM AND JUST EXPLODED.
SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE IN COVERED PARKING GARAGE. CAR ENGINE REVVED WHILE PULLING INTO SPACE. BRAKES APPLIED LEAVING SKID MARKS ON CONCRETE. CAR WAS DAMAGED BE HITTING CONCRETE RETAINING WALL.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT IS CONSIDERABLY SHORTER THAN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT. THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT IS SO CONSTRICTING THAT YOU CAN'T TURN TO LOOK WHEN CHANGING LANES. SO THE NEED TO DRIVE WITHOUT USING THE SEAT BELT IS AN ISSUE OF SAFETY. I AM AN AVERAGE SIZE PERSON AND THIS HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED.
IN MAY 2018 I PURCHASED A NEW 2018 HONDA PILOT. UNFORTUNATELY DURING THIS FIRST WINTER I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A FUNCTIONING HEATER. AS SOON AS THE WEATHER TURNED COLD I NOTICED THAT THIS NEW HONDA PILOT DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT HEAT. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE HEATER FUNCTIONS OK BUT DURING CITY DRIVING, OR ESPECIALLY AT IDLE, THE TEMPERATURE FALLS WELL BELOW ANY ACCEPTABLE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS. BELOW IS A CHART SHOWING A COMPARISON BETWEEN A FUNCTIONING HEATER IN A 2014 CRV VERSUS THIS NEW 2018 HONDA PILOT. PLEASE NOTE THE DIFFERENCES IN OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURES: THE CRV MEASUREMENTS WERE TAKEN AT AN OUTSIDE AIR TEMP OF -8 WHILE THE PILOT DATA WAS RECORDED WITH AN OUTSIDE AIR TEMP OF + 8. THE VENT TEMPERATURE VARIES CONSIDERABLY BASED ON THE ENGINE RPM. WHILE ACCELERATING THE TEMPERATURE IS WARM / HOT BUT WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC OR STOPPED THE TEMPERATURE CAN DROP 80 DEGREES OR MORE IN 1-2 MINUTES. BASED ON THIS DATA, I MADE TWO SEPARATE APPOINTMENTS TO HAVE THE PILOT SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY AT MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER. THE WEATHER ON THE 2ND VISIT WAS COLD (-17 DEGREES F). THEY 'VERIFIED THE COMPLAINT' AND FOUND THAT THE VENT TEMPERATURE FROM A FULLY WARMED UP ENGINE WAS 28 DEGREES (YES, BELOW FREEZING!). THEY SAID THEY HAVE ANOTHER PILOT IN THEIR SHOP THAT DOES THE SAME THING THEREFORE THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MINE AND CONSIDERED MINE AS FUNCTIONING 'NORMAL'. THEY DID NOT DO ANY DIAGNOSTIC WORK AND REFUSED TO DO ANY WORK, EVEN SIMPLE WORK SUCH AS TRYING TO FLUSH THE HEATER CORE OR REMOVE ANY AIR FROM THE SYSTEM. THEY STATED THAT HONDA PUT IN AN UNDERSIZED HEATER CORE IN THE PILOT AND THEREFORE THEY WERE NOT GOING TO WASTE THEIR TIME TRYING TO FIX. SINCE I LIVE IN CHICAGO THERE ARE 5 MONTHS OF COLD WEATHER SO I DO NOT CONSIDER A LACK OF HEAT A MINOR INCONVENIENCE NOR AN ACCEPTABLE TO LIVE WITH.
TRANSMISSION JERKS, HESITATES AND/OR CLUNKS WHEN CHANGING AND/OR ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE TO NEXT HIGHER GEAR, HESITATES AND/OR REVERTS TO NEXT LOWER GEAR WHEN IT SHOULD SHIFT TO NEXT GEAR. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING ON LEVEL SURFACES AND DOWN HILLS CAUSING PASSENGERS TO JERK FORWARDED SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT EXPECTATION. HONDA DEALER KEPT VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS AND DID NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW IN APRIL 2018, HAD SAME PROBLEM SINCE WEEK #1. WHEN SHIFTING MANUALLY DOES NOT EXPERIENCE HESITATION OR GEAR HUNTING BUT CLANKING STILL EXISTS. THESE EVENTS HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF ROAD SURFACE TYPE, SPEED OR INCLINE OF ROAD. I NOTICED A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK AT THE TRANSMISSION GASKET DURING 1ST OIL CHANGE AT 7500 MILES, UNDECIDES TO , (I.E., FROM PARK TO / FROM DRIVE; INTO/OUT
WHEN USING THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT, THERE IS NO EXTRA GIVE IN THE BELT. THE BELT IS VERY TIGHT AND THE DRIVER CAN NOT EVEN TURN TO CHECK THEIR BLIND SPOT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2018. I HAVE TRIED ADJUSTING THE SEAT FURTHER AWAY FROM THE WHEEL, HOWEVER, THE BELT SEEMS TOO SHORT.
MY 2018 HONDA PILOT ELITE TURNS ON THE "AUTO IDLE STOP" FEATURE EACH TIME I START THE VEHICLE. BASICALLY, THIS MEANS THAT THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHEN I'M AT A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I RELEASE THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE STARTS AGAIN. HOWEVER, THERE IS LAG TIME BETWEEN THE TIME I RELEASE THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATION. THIS HAS NEARLY CAUSED A DEATHLY ACCIDENT ON MORE THAN A DOZEN OCCASIONS DURING THE PAST 6 MONTHS AT INTERSECTIONS. I'VE NEARLY BEEN T-BONED EACH AND EVERY TIME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL SIMPLY NOT ACCELERATE AT THE PRECISE MOMENT WHEN I NEED IT TO. THERE IS OVER A 1 SECOND LAG BEFORE ACCELERATION OCCURS. PERHAPS THIS IS MEANT TO BE AN EMISSIONS CONTROL FEATURE, BUT IT COMES AT THE PRICE OF SAFETY. THIS "AUTO IDLE STOP" FEATURE MAKES THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE FOR FAMILIES. THERE SHOULD BE A PERMANENT ON/OFF SWITCH RATHER THAN HAVING TO TURN THIS FEATURE OFF EACH AND EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. COMPLETELY UNSAFE!
2018 HONDA PILOT ELITE-- WHILE DRIVING ON A SMALL, CONGESTED, CURVY TWO-LANE ROAD, IN A POPULAR TOURIST DESTINATION, MY FRONTAL IMPACT SENSORS ALERTED ME TO FRONTAL IMPACT MULTIPLE TIMES BY SHAKING MY STEERING WHEEL. THE DASH LIGHTS ALSO FLASHED THE WORD "BRAKE" IN ORANGE AND BLACK. THIS SO-CALLED "SAFETY" FEATURE ALMOST CAUSE ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS ROAD BECAUSE OF THE SHAKING STEERING WHEEL. THIS FRONTAL IMPACT ALERT ALWAYS OCCURRED WHEN A LARGE RV TYPE OF VEHICLE PASSED BY ME. ALTHOUGH I LATER DISCOVERED AN "OFF" SWITCH FOR THIS FRONTAL IMPACT ALERT SYSTEM, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TURN OFF MULTIPLE "SAFETY" SENSORS EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. IF YOU DO NOT TURN OFF THESE "SAFETY" SENSORS, THEY WILL ACTUAL CREATE UNSAFE CONDITIONS BY SHAKING YOUR STEERING WHEEL.
VEHICLE AUTO LOCKED WITH KEYS IN CAR AND COULD NOT UNLOCK. FORTUNATELY, CAR WAS IN MY GARAGE AND DID NOT CREATE A SAFETY ISSUE. HOWEVER, HAD THIS OCCURRED IN THE SUMMER WITH A SMALL CHILD OR PET INSIDE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD, POSSIBLY LEADING TO FATAL CONSEQUENCES. THIS VEHICLE IS NEVER SUPPOSED TO LOCK WITH KEYS IN THE CAR.
DRIVER'S SEAT SINKS AND CHANGES THE SEAT/MIRROR FIELD OF VISION OF THE REAR VIEW MIRRORS. THIS "SINK" HAPPENS SLOWLY (AND WITHOUT NOTICE) CAUSING DANGEROUS BLIND SPOT SITUATIONS WHILE DRIVING AND PARKING. THE "SINK" BEGAN ON FIRST DAY OF OWNERSHIP BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE IT AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE CHANGE IN SEAT VS REAR VIEW MIRROR POSITION. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER OF SUV. MALE, 69 YEARS OLD. 180 LBS. DRIVER'S SEAT SLOWLY SINKS OVER TIME. APPROXIMATELY 2-5" PER DAY. WHILE DRIVING, IN ALL INSTANCES. ALSO WHEN THE SUV IS SITTING PARKED AND EMPTY OF PASSENGERS, BUT SINK IS SLOWER. DEALER AND HONDA MAIN PHONE COMPLAINT SITE SAY IT IS NORMAL. SERVICE WOMAN AT LOCAL BETTEN-BAKER HONDA SAID SHE HAS 2016 PILOT WITH THE SAME SEAT AND ISSUE. SAID THE SINK IS NORMAL. I BELIEVE IT IS POSSIBLY A LEAKING AIR BLADDER. CAUSE UNKNOWN. LX MODEL WITH 5000 MILES.
HIGHWAY DRIVING, APPARENTLY A SMALL STONE HIT THE WINDSHIELD. (PICTURE ATTACHED) AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED. THE STONE IN BARLEY 1/4 INCH IN SIZE. THIS IS NOT UNUSUAL SITUATION, A WINDSHIELD SHOULD NOT CRACK, THIS IS A NORMAL DRIVING SITUATION. THE ISM'S WINDSHIELD IS ON BACK ORDER, AND WILL TAKE 4 WEEKS TO RECEIVE, AS ONLY HONDA CAN RECALIBRATE THIS AT THIS TIME, THEY WILL ONLY RECALIBRATE AN OEM WINDSHIELD.
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT IN "DRIVE" WITH THE AUTO-IDLE FEATURE IN USE. CAR WOULD NOT RE-START WHEN FOOT TAKEN OFF BRAKE. RADIO CUT OUT BRIEFLY AS WELL. DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH MANY ERROR MESSAGES - ONE OF THEM WAS "COLLISION MITIGATION PROBLEM" OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. PLACED CAR IN PARK AND PUSHED START BUTTON NUMEROUS TIMES. ONLY GOT CLICKING SOUNDS, WITH OCCASIONAL ENGINE TURNOVER NOISE, BUT IT WOULDN'T START. TURNED OFF A/C AND RADIO. CAR FINALLY STARTED AFTER SEVERAL MORE MINUTES OF PUSHING START BUTTON WHILE IN PARK WITH FOOT ON BRAKE.
WHILE DRIVING ON A STATE HIGHWAY, TRAVELLING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, I HEARD A LOUD 'POP' AND SAW DEBRIS FLY IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A TIRE, BUT FOUND MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. THERE WERE NO ROCKS, PROJECTILES, ETC, AND NO OVERHEAD STRUCTURES WHERE SOMETHING COULD HAVE FALLEN. THE GLASS BLEW OUT AS IT MAY HAVE BEEN UNDER STRESS AND NOT IN AS IF SOMETHING MAY HAVE HIT IT.
DRIVER'S FRONT SEAT BELT IS DRASTICALLY SHORTER THAN PASSENGER FRONT SEAT BELT. I AM RESTRICTED IN ABILITY TO LOOK AROUND AND MAKE SURE THERE IS NO OTHER VEHICLE IN MY BLIND SPOT. THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PER THE DEALER AS HONDA DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE AN ERROR. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT IS SHORT LOCKS. IN ADDITION, IT PROHIBITS AND RESTRICTS DRIVER FROM LEANING FORWARD. THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION.
THE DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT ON MY 2018 HONDA PILOT IS NOT THE STANDARD SIZE AND IS SHORT. IT DOES NOT EXTEND LIKE THE PASSENGER SEATBELT AND PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM LEANING FORWARD TO CHECK OUT IT IS SAFE TO TURN. THE DRIVER SEATBELT DOES NOT LOCK IN PLACE WHEN STOPPING VEHICLE.
THE MOONROOF SHATTERED EXPLODING GLASS. THE VEHICLE WAS ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 60MPH. THERE WAS JUST A LOUD NOISE AND BOOM. WE OWNED THE CAR JUST FOUR MONTHS AND IT HAS ONLY 6,200 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT.
ON MY 2018 HONDA PILOT - EXL, THE SUNROOF EXPLODED TWICE (SHATTERED). THE FIRST TIME WAS ON FEB 2018 AND THE SECOND TIME WAS ON JULY 2018.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT IS TOO SHORT. IT IS TIGHT ACROSS MY CHEST AND THE LEFT SIDE OF MY NECK. THE DEALER OFFERS NO FIX FOR THE OTHER THAN A SEAT BELT EXTENDER WHICH HONDA DOES NOT SELL. I AM 5'2' TALL AND 220 LBS. YES I AM OVER WEIGHT BUT I'VE OWNED 8 OTHER HONDA'S AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A BRAND NEW VHICLE I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING.
DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT IS TOO SHORT, NOT AS LONG AS PASSENGERS SEAT BELT. IT PROHIBITS / RESTRICTS LEANING FORWARD TO CHECK ONCOMING TRAFFIC (BOTH LOOKING LEFT AND RIGHT) AT INTERSECTIONS AND MERGING SITUATIONS. I BELIEVE THIS CAUSES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION.
THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT IS MUCH SHORTER THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE. UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXTREMELY SMALL PERSON IT IS DIFFICULT TO MOVE OR CLEARLY LOOK AT YOUR BLIND SPOTS WHEN DRIVING. THE SEAT BELT SITS ACROSS YOUR NECK AND BREAST WHICH WOULD CAUSE MAJOR DAMAGE IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. THIS SEAT BELT WAS MADE TOO SHORT.
