My 2009 GMC Yukon Denali has a major safety issue. The hard plastic dash has multiple cracks, which is a huge safety concern in the case of an accident. The dash could explode inside the vehicle causing injury to me and/or other passengers. The dashboard could also interfere with the operation of the airbag due to multiple cracks being around the passenger air bag. I have reached out to GM customer service twice and both time they advised me that a manager will reach out to me but they never did. I’m hoping this report will make GM accountable for the vehicle defect they made and pay to fix/repair the dash.
Cracks in dashboard including crack up to passenger airbag. Truck has been garage kept since new,
I was driving around 55 miles per hour and applied the brakes. I had little to no brakes and had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. Luckily there was no car in front of me or a collision would have occurred. I had multiple ABS light, service stabiltrak, service brake lights engage. It happened once more going to the next light. I pulled over and removed the negative battery cable and waited 2 minutes and re attached it. The brakes feel spongy. I have researched the forums for the electric hybrid models and there were multiple other vehicles with the same symptoms as mine. Dealership says there are no recalls for the vehicle, even though multiple other hybrids are having the same issues and wanted to charge me $135 diagnostic fee to check the brake system. This is a safety hazard and should be investigated by GMC
Since I've owned the hybrid yukon, I've had nothing but issues. GMC only made a limited amount of the hybrid models but due to the issues discontinued manufacturing them. why weren't the vehicles taken off the market? started with the jolting from a stop, to not wanting to go into reverse, check engine light, to hybrid battery not shifting into gear, last power steering locked while driving then not starting at all. had sat at the dealership for 4 weeks now sitting at another hybrid shop awaiting for the inverter converter control to be delivered and put in. have spent thousands in the last 2 months repairing trying to figure out issues.

The dealer had been notified on multiple occasions about the recall; however, the contact was informed by the dealer that the parts were not yet available. The manufacturer had been notified of the recall. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. The contact owns a 2009 GMC Yukon Denali XL. The contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle experienced delayed acceleration. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that they were unable to assist. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V052000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the cooling fan assembly, fuel pump, and fuel pump module needed to replaced. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the cooling fan assembly, fuel pump, and fuel pump module needed to replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts availability. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2009 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud tapping sound with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed as displacement on demand (DoD) due to camshaft failure, after the engine was disassembled. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.

ABOUT 38 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2009 YUKON MY DASH CRACKER FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE DRIVER SIDE. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE ISSUES AND GMC TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A COST THAT I HAD TO ABSORB. SINCE THIS HAS HAPPENED MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN DRIVING MORE THAN 60 MINUTES.

THE NHTSA RECALL #16V381 WAS ISSUED MAY 27, 2016 CREATING A GM RECALL #2049151. GM'S STATUS IS "INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE". ITS NOW 4 1/2 YEARS LATER. TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC, A DECISION MUST BE MADE AS TO WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE/RISK RELATING TO THE TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATORS.
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, AFTER CROSSING OVER A SET OF RAILROAD TRACKS. SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON DASH. AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, THE POWER STEERING WORKED FINE. HAPPENED A 2ND TIME AFTER HITTING A POT HOLE. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON BUSY STREET, AND COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST MAKES THIS VERY UNSAFE

WE JUST TOOK IN TO HAVE VEHICLE LOOKED AND AND SAID IT WAS FIRST THE ELECTRICAL AND NOW IS THE MEMBRANE OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE REMOTE START AND ENGINE LIGHT TO NOT WORK. ALSO CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CUT OUT DUE TO A PROBLEM IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. LOOKING UP THE VIN I SEE SOME OF THESE VEHICLE HAS THIS ISSUE BUT DOESN'T SHOW UNDER MY VIN. ALSO HAVE BEEN TOLD USING TONS OF OIL AND THIS HAS BEEN SEEN WITH THE GMC YUKONS. WE JUST HAD A VERY EXPENSIVE VISIT TO THE SHOP AND WANT TO KNOW WHY THIS PARTICULAR ISSUES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLES VIN. YOUR RESPONSE WILL BE APPRECIATED.
I WORK IN A DEALERSHIP AND PURCHASED MY VEHICLE USED IN APRIL 2016. AT THE TIME IT HAD SMALL CRACKS THAT EXTENDED FROM THE DASH AIRBAGS ABOUT 1" OR SO TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD. THE CRACKS ARE NOW QUITE LARGE. IF THE AIRBAGS WERE TO DEPLOY, THE PLASTIC FROM THE DASH WOULD ALSO BECOME AIRBORNE. THIS HAS BECOME A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN TO MYSELF WHILE DRIVING AS WELL AS ANYONE WHO MAY SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT, INCLUDING MY GRANDCHILDREN. THESE CRACKS ARE NOW ABOUT 1/4" IN WIDTH AND ABOUT 3" LONG AND EXTEND FROM THE EDGE OF THE AIRBAG AND END AT THE DEFOGGER VENTS UNDER THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND, WHEN THE WHEEL WAS REMOVED, IT DISINTEGRATED DUE TO CORROSION. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO NOTICED THAT THE AREA AROUND THE LUG NUT WAS ALSO CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

GAS PEDAL STICKS WIDE OPEN AND HAVE TO TRY TO PULL IT BACK UP AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES A WHILE IT GET IT UNSTUCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO DIFFERENT TIMES IN ONE MONTH. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND LUCKILY NOT TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF US AND WE WERE GOING STRAIGHT.
WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION THE CAR BECAME LIMP/SLOW AS THE ENGINE WOULD SLOW DOWN. WE HAVE HAD 2 INSTANCES WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WILL REDUCE SPEED TO A HAUNT. THE CAR BOTH TIMES WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED. FIRST ONE THE MODULES MELTED DUE TO THE HYBRID BATTERY AND OTHER WAS A FAILED THROTTLE. WE ARE NOW DEALING WITH MELTED SPARK PLUGS WHICH WERE ALL COMPLETELY REPLACED AND FAILED AGAIN ONE MONTH LATER AND WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN!
THERE TAKATA RECALL HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR OVER 3 YEARS ON THE CAR I WENT TO GET IT REPAIRED DUE TO MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMING ON AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT A REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN FOUND FOR THE TAKATA RECALL.
THE DASH IS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES, INCLUDING A CRACK AT THE EDGE OF THE AIR BAG COMPARTMENT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THEY QUOTED A REPAIR PRICE OF 1800. THEY ADMITTED THAT A CRACKED DASH HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN GMC YUKONS. THE CRACKS BEGAN IN 2013 AND I HAD JUST OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS. I TAKE EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD CARE OF IT AND THE REST OF THE VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE CRACK IS CONCERNING AROUND THE AIR BAG BECAUSE IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED DURING AN ACCIDENT, THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY OF SHARP DEBRIS CAUSING INJURY.

TAKATA RECALL - CALLED DEALERS IN PHX AREA AND CALLED GM. THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED. NOTICE HAS BEEN RECEIVED SINCE 2016
I HAVE CALLED TO GET APPOINTMENT FOR NEW AIR BAGS 2 YEARS AGO AND THEY KEEP PUTTING ME OFF , MY LOCAL GMC DEALER WILL NOT FIX MY AIR BAGS.
TRANSMISSION DIPSTICK TUBE BROKEN. NOT SURE WHEN IT HAPPENED. IT WAS NOTICED BY MY FATHER ABOUT A WEEK AGO WHEN HE WAS LOOKING THINGS OVER. I JUST GOT THE TRUCK USED FROM A DEALER IN SEPT.
TAKATA RECALL IS MY ONLY COMPLAINT. TO DATE, GM HAS NOT REMEDIED THIS PROBLEM GM SAYS MY VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE BUT I GUARANTEE THE CEO OF GM IS NOT RIDING AROUND IN A VEHICLE THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY INJURY OR DEATH.
'TAMARA RECALL' RECALL ON PASSENGER AIR BAG IN 2016. NEVER GOT IT FIXED BECAUSE THEY NEVER HAD A REPLACEMENT. EVEN ON 8/29/2018 CHECKED TO SEE IF THEY HAD A REPLACEMENT FOR THE 2009 YUKON WHICH NO. AS OF TODAY, JANUARY 08, 2019 NO REPLACEMENT FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SO FAR.
LIKE THE OTHER 9000 PEOPLE IDENTIFIED ON FACEBOOK AMONG OTHER FORUMS, THE DASH ON MY YUKON IS CRACKED. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT PUTTING MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT. I WOULDN'T MIND SPENDING THE MONEY TO PUT A NEW ONE IN, BUT I DONT HAVE THE CONFIDENCE THE NEW DASH WILL LAST ANY LONGER. CRACKING HAPPENS RIGHT NEAR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVERS INSTRUMENT PANEL.

DASH HAS 4 CRACKS. 1 AT EACH OF THE CORNERS OF THE DASH AROUND THE AIRBAG CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD. IF IT DEPLOYS PIECES OF PLASTIC WILL FLY EVERYWHERE. THE OTHER TWO CRACK ARE ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.
I AM CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY OF ME AND MY PASSENGERS. OVER 1 YEAR AND STILL NO RESOLUTION. I KEEP ON BEING TOLD CALL BACK AND CALL BACK. WHY SO LONG TO REPLACE? THE DASH BOARD HAS CRACKED AND BROKEN DUE TO POOR QUALITY AND MANY OWNERS HAVE DASHBOARD ISSUES.
AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT IS ON, OIL PRESSURE FLUCTUATION OCCURS AND THE VEHICLE PULLS TO THE LEFT WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AFTER NEW BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE INSTALLED.

EVEN IN NEW YORK DURING THE REST OF THE YEAR THE SUN SHINING THRU THE WINDOW CREATES SEVERE HEATING OF DASHBOARD . VEHICLE IS NOT GARAGED. MY MAIN CONCERN IS WHETHER THIS CAR SHOULD BE DRIVEN

MULTIPLE CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED SEVERAL YEARS AGO.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED DAILY SINCE 2016. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (THOMAS CHEVROLET, 1263 W BALTIMORE PIKE, MEDIA, PA 19063), BUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CASE NUMBER: 8-4516506076 WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,300.
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I' AM SUBMITTING THIS CORRESPONDENCE IN REFERENCE TO NUMEROUS CRACKS ON MY DASHBOARD ON THE DESCRIBED VEHICLE. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE CRACKS ARE GETTING WORSE ESPECIALLY AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG, WHICH IS NOW CAUSING THE AIR BAG COVER TO BULGE, CAUSING CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. TAKATA RECALL. MY DENALI HAS FALLEN ILL TO THE WELL DOCUMENTED POORLY ENGINEERED DASH CRACKING, IN MY CASE AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG OPEN. THIS CREATES AN EMINENT PERSONAL INJURY SAFETY HAZARD TO FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. IF A SITUATION AROSE WHEREAS AIR BAG WAS ACTIVATED, AS AIRBAG COVER EJECTED, THE DASH BECOMES AN INSTANT INSTRUMENT OF CAPABLE OF GREAT BODILY HARM OR EVEN DEATH, AS SHRAPNEL FILLS THE CABIN, FROM DISINTEGRATING DASH PLASTIC FLYING BACK, IN CERTAIN INJURY TO PASSENGER. GM IS WELL AWARE OF THE DEFECT, YET REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE.

AFTER A RECENT TRIP TO ATLANTA, I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS CRACK IS WHERE THE AIRBAG IS LOCATED. NOW I HAVE NOTICED THE CENTER OF THE DASH IS COLLAPSING IN ESPECIALLY ON WARM DAYS. NOTHING HAS BEEN ON THE DASHBOARD THAT WOULD HAVE CREATED THIS CRACK. I FEAR THAT THE DASH MAY COLLAPSE ALL THE WAY IN OR BECAME A PROJECTILE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, ESPECIALLY IF THE AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED GM, DEALERSHIPS AS GM TOLD ME AND NOW HERE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE WITH THIS CURRENT SITUATION AND NO FIX FOR THIS MAKE OF VEHICLES. I'M REQUESTING SOME BETTER ANSWER OTHER THAN "DON'T PUT A PASSENGER IN THAT SEAT" OR "DISENGAGE THE AIRBAG". AT 80,000 MILES I DISCOVERED THAT MY DASH IS CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES AND THAT IT IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TO PASSENGERS IF THE CRACK (THAT IS SHARP PLASTIC) IS TO CUT OR RUPTURE THE AIRBAG IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND NEVER KEPT OUTSIDE. THIS IS A HUGE GM PROBLEM AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS THAT NEED THIS FIXED. THERE ARE EVEN FACEBOOK GROUPS WITH THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ACROSS MULTIPLE VEHICLES. THIS CRACK LITERALLY HAPPENED OUT OF NO WHERE.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED ON BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND ON THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. DID NOT HAVE ANY ACCIDENT OR OTHER DAMAGE, IT JUST CRACKED. I AM CONCERNED THAT WERE THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY THAT THE DASHBOARD FRAGMENTS WOULD BECOME PROJECTILES.
DASHBOARD IS DEFECTIVE AND A SAFETY HAZARD. IF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYS IT COULD SEND PLASTIC SHRAPNEL THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE.
THE REAR LIFT GATE WILL SLAM SHUT ONCE OPEN BECAUSE THE HYDROLICS FAIL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE ALSO SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V614000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THERE HAS YET TO BE AN OFFER TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS IN OUR FAMILY VEHICLE. OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE ARE BEING SENT NOTICES TO DISCONTINUE USE BY NOT ALLOWING ANYONE TO SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND TO GET IT REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY, AND YET THERE IS NO SUCH ACTION FOR OUR FAMILY VEHICLE. WE DEMAND A REPAIR BE MADE AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND WE CAN NOT FIT OUR ENTIRE FAMILY IN IT WITHOUT SOMEONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.

THE CRACK JUST SUDDENLY APPEARED AFTER I HEARD SOME RATTLING IN AND AROUND THE CENTER OF THE DASH BOARD. DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL THERE WAS A 6" CRACK. COULD POSSIBLY HINDER STEERING COLUMN IF PLASTIC PIECES FROM THE CRACK FALL INTO THE AREA. PLASTIC SHARDS COULD POSE DANGEROUS IF ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. OTHERS REPORT CRACKS BY PASSENGER AIRBAG.
MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN 2 PLACES AFTER ALREADY BEING REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP ONCE. THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND NOW IT IS CRACKED AGAIN IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT. MY SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ALSO ON.

THE DASHBOARD WHICH IS MADE OF HARD PLASTIC IS CRACKING NEAR AND TOUCHING THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. IT WILL CAUSE SHARDS OF THICK HARD PLASTIC TO BE PROJECTED INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS. ALSO LARGE PIECES WILL ALSO BE INTERJECTED INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT IN THE CASE OF ANY ACCIDENT BECAUSE THEY ARE LOOSE.

CLEANING HAS ALWAYS BEEN DONE WITH A DAMP CLOTH. NO CHEMICALS ARE USED TO CLEAN THIS AREA. SUNSHADE IS USED IF VEHICLE IS PARKED OUTSIDE.

STOPPED VEHICLE TO CHECK UNDER HOOD CHECKED OIL LEVEL GOOD, OIL PRESSURE FINE, TEMP FINE,SHUT UNIT OFF AND RESTARTED. CALLED TRIPLE A FOR A TOW. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND NUMBER 7 CYLINDER COLLAPSED ORDERED PARTS AND REPLACED. PULLED REST OF LIFTERS ON DRIVER SIDE AND CHECKED FOR WEAR AND REPLACED TO SERVICE. RAN VEHICLE FOR 10 MINUTES AND STARTED WITH A FAILED LIFTER ON CYLINDER #1. THIS MOTOR WAS REDONE BY GMC DO TO HEAVY OIL CONSUMPTION 25000 MILES AGO. YOU SERIOUSLY NEED TO LOOK INTO HOW MANY AFM LIFTER FAILURES THERE HAVE BEEN. THE GMC SHOP I GOT MY PARTS AT HAVE A CREW THATS ALL THEY DO IS REPLACE LIFTERS
TAKATA RECALL...I LOOKED UP MY VEHICLE VIN NUMBER WHEN THE RECALL CAME OUT AND MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR ALMOST A YEAR SINCE AND HAVE NOW TAKEN IT TO TRADE IN ON A NEW CAR. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT IS PART OF THE TAKATA RECALL AND SINCE THE RECALL IS UNREPAIRABLE AND IS A FATAL RECALL THEY WILL SCRAP THE CAR. SHOULD THE AIRBAG DEPLOY, THE CRACKED DASHBOARD WILL MOST LIKELY EXPLODE, POSSIBLY CAUSING MORE INJURY THAN THE AIRBAG WAS DESIGNED TO AVOID. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT FROM GM CUSTOMERS. PLASTIC FRAGMENTS ARE LOOSE ON CRACKED AREAS OF DASH. THIS PRESENTS A POSSIBLE HIGH-SPEED PROJECTILE HAZARD IF AIR BAG(S) ARE DEPLOYED AND CATCH ON LOOSE/CRACKED AREAS DURING DEPLOYMENT. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY INCIDENTS. DASHBOARD SURROUNDING AIRBAG CRACKED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND CONTINUES TO DEVELOP ADDITIONAL CRACKS AS TIME GOES ON. FINALLY, DASHBOARD IS VIBRATING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAUSING ADDITIONAL CRACKS AND FRAGMENTS OF PLASTIC TO COME LOOSE. DISCUSSIONS WITH MECHANICS INDICATE THAT ENTIRE DASH MAY COME LOOSE AND FALL IN TO DRIVERS OR PASSENGER UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL IN ADDITION TO POSSIBLE AIR-BAG PROJECTILE HAZARD. TWO LOCAL GMC DEALERS INDICATED THAT THIS IS NOT A COVERED REPAIR AND THAT THE CONSUMER SHOULD REPLACE THE DASH ON THEIR OWN IF THERE IS A SAFETY CONCERN BY THE CONSUMER.

LEFT REAR SEAT BELT FAILS TO EXTRACT. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THE LOCK BAR WAS SEIZED UP AND COULD NOT BE RELEASED AND THAT THE ENTIRE SEATBELT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS ONLY A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND AT 6'4 270 I DON'T HAVE ANYONE EVER SIT BEHIND ME. THIS IS PROBABLY THE LEAST USED SEATBELT IN MY YUKON. . SAFETY DEVICES SUCH AS SEAT BELTS & AIR BAGS SHOULD NEVER FAIL EVER ! IF THEY DO THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE DUE TO POOR DESIGN. I JUST THANK GOD IT DIDN'T MALFUNCTION DURING AN ACCIDENT. GMC'S SEAT BELT DESIGN NEEDS TO BE REDESIGNED.

THE SECOND CRACK HAS OCCURRED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP OF THE DASH PANEL.

A FEW WEEKS AGO THE DASHBOARD BEGAN TO CRACK ON MY 2009 GMC YUKON. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW ON 10/10/09 AND HAD ALSO PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH EXPIRE 10/2015. WARRANTY EXPIRED ANOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND THIS HAPPENED. I WENT ONLINE TO FIND THAT MANY FOLKS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE WITH AN ACTIVE LAWSUIT. GMC SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO REPARI THIS FAULTY DASHBOARD TO AVOID FURTHER INJURY OF PLASTIC FLYING IN PASSENGERS FACES IF AN AIRBAG EVER DOES DEPLOY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
2009 GMC YUKON XL, 61000 MILES. DASH AROUND THE AIRBAG AND ALL OVER THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND HAS NEVER BEEN DRIVEN OFF ROAD. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY/GMC TRUCKS. IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT PIECES OF THE DASH WILL POSE A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.
TOP LEFT HAND CORNER OF DASHBOARD ABOVE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG COVER IS CRACKING. MY GMC HAS 26000 MILES AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN PARKED IN A GARAGE. I'VE CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE DEALERSHIP.
THE PAST FEW DAYS WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND HIGHWAYS AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS, I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY RADIO POWERING OFF AND ON EVERY FEW MINUTES, THE WARNING LIGHT TO HAVE MY TIRE PRESSURE SERVICED, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT HAS LIT UP AND A STABILITRAK WARNING MESSAGE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE. WHAT IF MY VEHICLE TOTALLY SHUTS DOWN WHILE I AM DRIVING? THERE ARE NO RECALLS ACCORDING TO GMC'S WEBSITE. I ALSO WANT TO REPORT THAT MY DASHBOARD IS CRACKED AND STARTING TO SEPARATE, WHICH WORRIES ME SINCE THE CRACK IS NEAR MY AIRBAGS, AND CRACKED OVER MY STEERING COLUMN. GMC HAS NO RECALL FOR THIS EITHER AND I HAVE LEARNED THAT IT'S A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH OWNER'S OF YUKONS AND TAHOES AROUND MY YEAR MODEL. I HAVE 119K MILES ON MY VEHICLE SO I AM SURE GMC WILL NOT REPAIR ANYTHING UNLESS I PAY FOR IT MYSELF, WHICH DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME, ESPECIALLY WHEN I FEEL MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IS AT RISK.
THE UPPER DASH HAS TWO CRACKS NEXT TO THE PASSENGERS AIRBAG OPENING. I CANNOT GET THESE CRACKS REPAIRED BECAUSE THAT MAY INTERFERE WITH THE OPERATION OF THE AIRBAG. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I CANNOT FIND OUT IF THE BROKEN, CRACKED UPPER DASH COULD ALSO INTERFERE WITH THE OPERATION OF THE AIRBAG. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY OPEN CASE # 8-1633101708 BUT HAVE NOT OFFERED TO FIX OR REPLACE THE UPPER DASH.
THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES WITHOUT ANY KNOWN CAUSE.
DASHBOARD CRACKED 2 YEARS AGO WAS REPLACED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AFTER INSTALLATION THE DASH CRACKED AGAIN ONE YEAR LATER. THE DEALER WILL NOT HONOR A WARANTY WHEN THIS IS ACTUALLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN SINCE IT IS CRACKED NEAR THE AIRBAG. IF IT WEE TO EVER DEPLY PIECES OF BROKEN PLASTIC WOULD BECOME PROJECTILES.
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. THE WORST CRACKS ARE OVER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BUT THERE ARE CRACKS TOUCHING THE AIR BAG COVER. IT SEEMS I FIND A NEW CRACK ABOUT EVERY FEW MONTHS. BESIDES BEING A FAULTY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT I FEEL THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF PIECES OF THE PLASTIC DASH SHOULD START FALLING INTO THE ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS UNDER THE DASH.
DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN UPPER LEFT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THE CRACKED PART IS VERY SHARP AND WILL LIKELY YEAR THE AIRBAG IF IT DEPLOYS DURNING A CRASH, WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. ALSO, IT SEEMS VERY BRITTLE AND THE FORCE OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT COULD SEND FLYING SHRAPNEL INTO PASSENGERS FACES.
CRACK DASHBOARD *TR AROUND AIRBAGS
THE VEHICLES DASH HAS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. THE FIRST CRACK HAS OCCURRED IN THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG INTRODUCING A POTENTIAL STRUCTURAL AND DEBRIS CONCERN UPON AN AIRBAG DEFLATION. THE SECOND CRACK HAS OCCURRED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL FROM THE DEFROST AIR VENTS ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP OF THE DASH PANEL. A THIRD HAS AROSE JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE SECOND, AGAIN TRAVELING FROM THE VENT TO THE TOP OF THE CONTOURS ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THIS IS NOT ONLY A MATTER OF CONCERN FOR SAFETY, BUT NOT THE LEVEL OF QUALITY ONE WOULD EXPECT FROM A VEHICLE WITH A STICKER PRICE NORTH OF $50K. THERE IS NO LONGER STRUCTURE INTEGRITY WITHIN THE DASH AND IT NOW BOUNCES EMBARRASSINGLY WITH EVERY BUMP IN THE ROAD. VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE QUALITY OF THIS DEFECTIVE DASH.
WE HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR THREE YEARS. ROUGHLY EVERY 3 MONTHS IT WILL HAVE ERRATIC ELECTRICAL SHORTS AND MOST COMMONLY THE CAR WILL NOT START BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS DEAD. SOMETIME THE SHORTS HAPPEN WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM TURNS OFF AND ON, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY FLASHES OFF AND ON, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS GO UP AND DOWN. ON A FEW OCCASIONS THE AIR CONDITIONING HAS SWITCHED OVER TO HEAT ONLY WHILE THE BLOWER CONTINUED AS BEFORE. ON A FEW OCCASIONS THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TURNED OFF AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF,ONLY TO THEN TURN BACK ON. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN AND THEN TURNED BACK ON. THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY DECELERATED AND THEN TURNED BACK ON AND LUNGED FORWARD. WE CONSIDER THE VEHICLE UNSAFE AT THIS POINT. WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT ANY MORE, OTHER THAN TO GET IT TO ANOTHER REPAIR PERSON WHERE IT HAS BEEN FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS. WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY THREE TIMES AND THE BATTERY TERMINAL CABLES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED THREE TIMES AT TWO SEPERATE GM DEALERS. WE HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THEIR PHONE SUPPORT. THEIR ONLY SUGGESTION IS TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALER EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS. THIS HAS NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE AND I HAVE INFORMED GM OF THIS.

THERE WAS A RECALL FOR SOME 2009 YUKONS FOR FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE BUT GMC SAID THIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. SOUNDS LIKE IT IS A BIGGER PROBLEM THEN THEY ARE ADMITTING. I GUESS SOMEONE ELSE HAS TO DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE! TOWED VEHICLE TO MECHANIC HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. $690.00. SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET REIMBURSED FOR A DEFECTED PART! RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED.
PASSENGER SEAT BELT WAS ON, WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND THE PASSENGER ATTEMPTED TO UNBUCKLE THE SEAT BELT IT WOULD NOT UNLATCH. AFTER A FEW JIGGLES IT CAME UNLOCKED AND NOW WILL NOT LATCH. WHEN TRYING TO BUCKLE UP, IT SLIDES IN BUT DOESN'T LOCK. *TR
DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS NOT OPERATING. 2 OF OUR DOORS FAIL TO LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH THE POWER DOOR LOCK BUTTON OR KEY FOB. WE MUST MANUALLY PUSH OR PULL THE DOOR LOCKS TO GET THEM TO FULLY LOCK OR UNLOCK CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE. OUR YOUNG KIDS COULD OPEN THE REAR DOORS AT ANY TIME IF WE DON'T MANUALLY LOCK THEM. I PURCHASED A GM CERTIFIED VEHICLE ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2014. ON OCTOBER 31, 2014 I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A NOISE NEAR THE PASSENGER DASH. I LOOKED AND NOTICED A CRACK APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AT THE AIRBAG. THE CRACK IS ABOUT 3 INCHES LONG AND RUNS FROM THE EDGE OF THE DASH TO THE AIRBAG. THE CRACK MEETS THE CUT OUT WHERE THE AIRBAG IS. I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT GM CUSTOMER CARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THE SAFETY CONCERNS I HAVE AS IT RELATES TO THIS CRACK LEADING TO THE AIRBAG. EACH TIME I CONTACT GM THEY DO NOT SEEMS TOO CONCERNED AND TELL ME IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DASH. I SEE THIS CRACK AS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY THE CRACK COULD POSSIBLY PUNCTURE THE AIRBAG DUE TO THE LOCATION OR SEND SHARP PLASTIC FLYING POTENTIALLY INTO THE PASSENGER'S EYE. I STARTED NOTICING A RATTLE WHEN DRIVING MY 2009 GMC YUKON DENALI, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS INCIDENTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, SO I KNOW THIS IS NOT UNIQUE TO MY VEHICLE AND THAT GMC IS AWARE OF IT BUT HAS CHOSEN TO IGNORE IT. THIS MANUFACTURING FLAW LEAVES ONE TO QUESTION HOW SAFE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS AND WHETHER OR NOT IT WILL WORK PROPERLY. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN 2005 WHERE MY DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE (NOT A GM VEHICLE) WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE STEERING WHEEL BY A PIECE OF IRON COMING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, AND IT NEVER DEPLOYED. IT WOULD STAND TO REASON THAT IF THE SUPPORT AREA AROUND THE MODULE IS WEAKENED BY SOMETHING LIKE A CRACK, THAT THE AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY AS DESIGNED, POSSIBLY SENDING THE MODULE OR FRAGMENTS OF THE MODULE INTO THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT AIR BAGS ARE DESIGNED TO PROTECT US IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT THEY CAN'T PROTECT US IF THEY NEVER DEPLOY OR IF WE ARE HIT BY FLYING MODULE METAL BECAUSE OF GENERAL MOTORS DESIGN FLAW THAT THEY HAVE REFUSED TO TAKE ACTION ON. MY FAMILY HAS OWNED 6 DIFFERENT GM VEHICLES OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS, BUT THEIR CHOICE TO IGNORE THIS POTENTIAL FATAL FLAW HAS ME LOOKING ELSEWHERE. DASH CRACKED ON CORNER OF WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS LOCATED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I'M AFRAID THAT IT WILL EITHER PREVENT THE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING IN A CRASH, OR TEAR THE AIRBAG UPON DEPLOYMENT, OR WORSE, SHOOT PROJECTILES OF DASH TOWARD MY CHILDREN WHO ARE PASSENGERS. *TR
UPON BEING STOPPED AT A LIGHT AT A MAIN INTERSECTION AND THEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE PANEL. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE STARTED UP FOR ABOUT 2MILES THEN SHUT OFF AGAIN. THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE AND SAID NO ISSUES FOUND. THEY GAVE US THE VEHICLE BACK ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE 5 DAYS LATER IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. DIAGNOSTICS THEN SHOWED A NEW BATTERY WAS NEEDED (?) AND A SEALANT RESEALED. WELL, A FEW DAYS LATER (LESS THAN A WEEK) IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THE DEALER HAS SINCE HAD THE VEHICLE, CLAIMING NOTHING IS WRONG AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE. (ALL INSTANCES WERE DURING CONSTANT RAINFALL AND THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN AT LEAST 15-20MINUTES IN THE RAIN. ) WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED, BOUGHT A WARRANTY AND ARE NOW STUCK WITH TRADING IN THE VEHICLE!! *TR
A CRACK HAD APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD GOING TO THE DIRECTION OF THE AIRBAG. I HAD ATTEMPTED TO CONSULT WITH THE LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP THAT STATED IT'S NO THREAT AND BASICALLY SENT ME ON MY WAY. IT'S BEEN A YEAR LATER AND NOW NOT ONLY HAS IT CRACKED IN THAT ONE AREA BUT I HAVE 2 ADDITIONAL CRACKS AND THE DASH HAS SEPARATED APPROX. 1/2" AT THE AIRBAG. IT SERIOUSLY CONCERNS ME CONSIDERING I HAVE CUSTODY OF MY GRANDCHILDREN (11 & 9) WHO ARE RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE 99.5% OF THE TIME. I'M DEATHLY AFRAID THE AIRBAG IS EITHER GOING TO DEPLOY ON ITS OWN OR WORSE NOT DEPLOY IF/WHEN IT'S NEEDED. *TR
DOOR HANDLES ARE FAULTY, SOMETIMES THEY WILL NOT OPEN THE DOOR AND OTHER TIMES YOU CANNOT SHUT THE DOOR BECAUSE, THE DOOR HANDLE GETS STUCK. *TR
3 OF THE 4 DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO WORK AS INTENDED, I.E., WITH FOB AND HAD TO BE MANUALLY MANIPULATED TO OPEN DOORS. ONE DOOR COULD BE OPENED WITH KEY. ONE DOOR COULD ONLY BE OPENED IF LOCK WAS PULLED UP MANUALLY - IT WOULD LOCK AUTOMATICALLY, BUT TOOK MANUAL INTERVENTION TO GET THE LOCK IN THE UN-LOCK POSITION. UNLESS THERE WAS AN ADULT IN THIS POSITION TO OPEN THE LOCK, THE DOOR COULD NOT BE ACCESSED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS WAS A REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND CAUSED GREAT CONCERN WHEN CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. I HAVE HAD THE 3 LOCKS REPLACED AT A GREAT DOLLAR COST, BUT COULD NOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE HAVE CHILDREN IN THE REAR SEAT WITHOUT HAVING IT DONE. I HAVE REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT FROM GMC AS I DO NOT BELIEVE A 75% FAILURE RATE ON DOOR LOCKS IS ACCEPTABLE SAFE PERFORMANCE OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR

EVERYDAY FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS MY YUKON EXPERIENCES INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL FAILURE AS IF YOU TURNED THE CAR OFF AND REMOVED THE KEY, THEN IT THE POWER COMES RIGHT BACK WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THIS POSSES A SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO ME AND MY FAMILY DUE TO, HEADLIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, BRAKING LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS ARE ALL OFF. WHEN I TURN THE YUKON OFF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILS ONCE I TURN THE KEY TO OFF AND REMOVE KEY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 09V154000( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,999.
IN LATE MAY 2014 I STARTED GETTING A BRAKE ERROR MESSAGE & MY BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK PROPERLY. I WOULD PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKES & IT WOULD BE HARD TO BRAKE. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER ON MAY 29, 2014 THEY SAID IT WAS THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER SENSOR, BUT I HAD TO WAIT BECAUSE GM HAD THE ITEM ON BACK ORDER. I GOT THE CAR REPAIRED BUT THE DAY AFTER I PICKED IT UP THE SAME THING HAPPENED BUT THIS TIME MY BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY & WE HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAILURE. I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN & THEY SAID THEY NEEDED TO REPAIR THE ABS BRAKE ASSEMBLY, SO WE PROCEEDED TO APPROVE THE REPAIR & GET THAT FIXED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY BETWEEN 65-70 MILES AN HOUR MY VEHICLES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND LA MESSAGE OF ENGINE POWER REDUCED APPEARED. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE VALVE BODY INTERNALLY SHORTED THE MEMORY CIRCUIT AND THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR SHORTED. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY FOUND THE HARNESS FOR THE CRANKSHAFT HAD MELTED AND SHORTED OUT THE SENSORS. THEY REPAIRED THE HARNESS, REPLACED THE SHORTED OUT SENSOR AND REPLACED THE VALVEBODY/TCM. THESE ARE THE CHROME PLATED MODELS. I WAS TOLD BY MULTIPLE SALES PERSONNEL, SERVICE TECHS, & SERVICE MANAGERS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM (APPARENTLY THERE IS SOME SORT OF ISSUE WITH THE CHROME PLATED MODELS). I ALSO HAVE FRIENDS WITH SIMILAR MODELS- YUKON & TAHOE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. SOME HAVE REPLACED ALL 4 DOOR HANDLES. I'M WRITING TO REPORT A SAFETY ISSUE WITH 2007 TO 2012 GMC YUKON DOOR LOCKS. I OWN A 2009 GMC YUKON (44,XXX MILES), AND RECENTLY THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR STOPPED LOCKING ELECTRONICALLY WHICH PROHIBITS THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING FEATURE FROM WORKING AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR. THIS BYPASSES AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE WHEN SMALL CHILDREN ARE RIDING IN THE BACK SEAT AND THERE IS NO WARNING SIGNAL TO THE DRIVER OF SUCH FAILURE. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED (THROUGH NUMEROUS ON-LINE OWNER FORUMS) ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL IN THIS YEAR RANGE AND IT APPEARS THAT GM HAS NOT TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY FOR RECALLING THESE VEHICLES TO ADDRESS THIS CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE FAILURE. I BELIEVE THE ROOT CAUSE IS EITHER POOR DESIGN, OR SUB-PAR QUALITY ON THE LOCK ACTUATING DEVICE, AS IT SEEMS MOST REPORTED INCIDENTS LEAD TO REPLACEMENT OF THE LOCK ACTUATOR (SOMETIMES REPLACING THE SAME ACTUATOR MULTIPLE TIMES). DRIVING AT ROUGHLY 50 MPH. WENT TO PASS CAR ON TWO LANE HIGHWAY. ACCELERATOR STUCK TO FLOOR (NOT STUCK ON FLOOR MAT OR OTHER OBJECT). VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 95 MPH, SLOWED TO 70 WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED FULLY. SLOWED TO 50 WITH BRAKE AND EMERGENCY BRAKE DEPRESSED. ACCELERATED WHEN DOWNSHIFTED INTO MANUAL. FINALLY PUT IN NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP. HAD COMPLAINED OF ROUGH IDLE, STALLING AND REDUCED POWER FOR 3 YEARS (SINCE WE HAD CAR FOR ONLY A FEW MONTHS). THE CODE THAT WAS SCANNED WAS P0335 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILURE. THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS UNPLUGGED AND RESEATED AND THE LIGHTS WENT AWAY. ON 10/6 THE LIGHTS AND REDUCED POWER MESSAGE CAME BACK ON, TOO THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES "NO DEFECT FOUND" TAC CASE # [XXX]. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE AND WITH THE CHANCE OF MY WIFE AND KIDS BEING STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE OR BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IS NOT SOMETHING THAT I WANT FROM A CAR THAT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! NOT ONLY IS THIS CAR DANGEROUS BUT ALSO A HEADACHE! I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK ON A LEVEL SURFACE, I LEFT THE YUKON RUNNING AND I GOT OUT AND WALKED MY GREAT NIECE TO A BUILDING ABOUT 30 FEET FROM THE VEHICLE.. I THEN TURNED TO SEE THE YUKON BACKING UP ON THIS FLAT SURFACE, I RAN TO TRY AND CATCH IT BUT IT HIT A BUILDING AND THEN CAME FORWARD AT ME. I HAD TO JUMP OUT OF IT'S WAY AND THEN CHASE IT DOWN. WHEN I JUMPED IN AND HIT THE BRAKE I THEN NOTICED IT WAS IN M1. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL GMC DEALER WHO CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION BUT REPORTED FINDING NOTHING. I AM NOW AFRAID OF THIS CAR. 2009 YUKON XL HAS DIED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. ONCE WAS IN REVERSE. THERE IS NO WARNING. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY COULDN'T "REPRODUCE" THE PROBLEM SO NOTHING WRONG WAS DETERMINED. THE ONLY THING THAT QUITS IS THE ENGINE (WHICH TAKES OUT THE POWER STEERING SO I CANNOT CONTROL THE TRUCK FOR LONG AND NOT AT ALL IN A TURN); THE AIR AND RADIO/DVD PLAYER STAY ON, THE LIGHTS (IN - ON DASHBOARD AND OUTSIDE) STAY ON AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY LIGHT THAT SHOWS A PROBLEM COMES ON. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN AUGUST OF 2010, I WAS IN MID TURN, WITH MY 4 CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK WHEN I SUDDENLY COULDN'T COMPLETE THE TURN. IT DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL OR APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE. I PUT IT IN PARK, TURNED THE KEY TO OFF, REMOVED THE KEY, REPLACED IT AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE (WHICH STARTED IMMEDIATELY). ONSTAR COULDN'T DETECT ANYTHING AND THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T GET IT TO "REPRODUCE" SO NOTHING WAS FIXED. IN THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS (JULY/AUGUST 2011) IT HAS HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES, ONCE WHILE REVERSING (STRAIGHT) AND THE OTHER WHILE AGAIN TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT - THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. BOTH TURNS WERE RIGHT TURNS. THE VEHICLE IS BEING INSPECTED, AGAIN, BY THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME OUTLOOK; IF IT CANNOT BE REPRODUCED, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS ALSO BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY'RE NOT RELATED. THERE ARE SEVERAL INCIDENTS SIMILAR TO THIS ONLINE, AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, NONE HAVE BEEN RESOLVED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT WILL SURELY END UP IN AN ACCIDENT EVENTUALLY. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS AT (ABOUT) 14,500 MILES AND LAST 2 WERE BETWEEN 35,000 AND 38,000 MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC BUT DUE TO THE DELAY OF A PART FROM THE DEALER, THE VEHICLE REPAIR WOULD BE DELAYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT NO ONE COULD ANSWER HER QUESTIONS TRANSFERRING HER FROM ONE DEPARTMENT TO ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COMPLETELY REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED; THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY UNIT WERE CLEANED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR. SHORTLY AFTER, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE HAD A SHORTAGE AND REPLACED THE MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 80,272.

WHILE DRIVING TO A DESTINATION ABOUT 30 MILES AWAY ON SUNDAY, THE CAR WENT INTO REDUCED POWER AGAIN AND THE WARNING LIGHTS RETURNED. THIS TIME TURNING THE ENGINE OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES DID NOT HELP AND POWER REDUCTION REMAINED. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, BUT THAT THE PART WAS BACKORDERED AT THE FACTORY, SO MY VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. I CALLED MY DEALER IN GA TO SEE IF THEY HAD THE PART, BUT THEY ALSO HAD TWO ON BACKORDER FOR TWO OTHER CUSTOMERS. AS A RESULT, MY VEHICLE, WHICH IS ONLY A YEAR OLD AND UNDER WARRANTY, CANNOT BE REPAIRED AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAYS. THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
