Tire Size: 265 70 16. While driving on a straight and level highway, the right rear tire sidewall completely shredded. Tire lost all air pressure and separated from the rim. I bought four General Grabber tires in July 2021. This is the second tire that the sidewall shredded. The first one shredded on the left rear side in July of 2024. There are a lot of General Grabber tires being recalled for over-cured sidewalls but it's strange that there are no recalls on this particular tire.

NEARLY $2000 TO REPLACE ALUMINUM BRAKE LINES WITH STEEL. EVERYONE KNOWS WHEN YOU PLACE DIFFERENT METALS IN CONTACT WHERE THEY CAN GET WET, YOU WILL GET ELECTRO-CHEMICAL CORROSION OF THE WEAKER METAL, IN THIS CASE, ALUMINUM. THAT'S WHY BOATS USE ALUMINUM AND ZINC AS A SACRIFICIAL METAL IN MARINE ENVIRONMENTS - TO PROTECT THE ENGINE FROM CORROSION. THIS IS SURELY AN ENGINEERING FLAW. ON MY YUKON, THE ALUMINUM BRAKE LINES ARE ATTACHED TO THE STEEL FRAME UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHERE THEY ARE SURE TO GET WET ANYTIME IT RAINS, THUS GUARANTEEING THE WEAKER ALUMINUM METAL WILL CORRODE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR 2000 YUKON A WEEK AND A HALF AGO, AND WHILE COMPLETELY STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN NOT TWO MILES FROM OUR HOME, THE PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DEPLOYED. NO ONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AT THE TIME, AND THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS INJURED, HOWEVER I AM INCREDIBLY WORRIED ABOUT THE INTEGRITY OF THE VEHICLES SAFETY. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS, AND MY INFANT SON SITS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT IN A REAR FACING CAR SEAT. NOT ONLY WOULD THE INCREDIBLY LOUD 'GUNSHOT' SOUND HAVE POSSIBLY DAMAGED HIS EARS, BUT THE SMOKY AFTERMATH THE CAR WAS FILLED WITH WOULD HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE FOR BOTH CHILDREN'S LUNGS. AIRBAGS ARE AN INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE THAT IS UNPARALLELED WHEN THEY OPERATE CORRECTLY. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS FAULTY WIRING OR SENSORS IN THIS MODEL SUV FOR THE SIDE SEAT AIRBAG TO GO OFF NOT ONLY WHEN THERE WAS NO ONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, BUT WHEN THE CAR WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. WHILE COMING TO A STOP, AT LOW SPEED ON DRY PAVEMENT MY VEHICLE'S ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ACTIVATED AND DESPITE CONTINUED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE THE VEHICLE ADVANCED ~8 FEET BEYOND THE INTENDED STOPPING POSITION, NEARLY HITTING A STOPPED SCHOOL THE PROCESS. INTRIGUED BY THE PROBLEM I EXPERIMENTED TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE INTERMITTENT PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL WEEKS BEFORE, FOR SAFETY REASONS, DEFEATING THE ABS BY REMOVING THE FUSE THAT POWERS THE CONTROL MODULE. AS I HAVE NOW DISCOVERED, ACTIVATION OF THE ABS TO LOW SPEEDS CONTINUES TO BE A RELATIVELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM LIGHT TRUCKS OF THE 2000 MODEL YEAR AND NEWER. INDEED MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED IN DECEMBER, 2005 TO SUPPOSEDLY PROVIDE A "FIX" SO THAT THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT OCCUR. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH A GM ENGINEER (MAYBE A MARKETING PERSON IN REALITY) WHO TOLD ME SOME NONSENSE ABOUT THIS NOT BEING A RECURRENCE OF THE SENSOR PROBLEM. ACTUALLY IT WAS THE CONVERSATION WITH THE ENGINEER THAT LEAD TO MAKING THIS COMPLAINT. I AM NOT SO UPSET ABOUT THE FACT THAT THE SYSTEM FAILED, FAILURE DO OCCUR, THE PROBLEM IS WITH HOW THE SYSTEM REACTED IN FAILURE. I WORK ON VEHICLE SENSOR SYSTEMS (SUSPENSIONS AND FLUID DIAGNOSTICS) AND A MAJOR DESIGN CONSTRAINT FOR ANY SYSTEM IS THAT ANY FAILURE MODE CANNOT NOT LEAD TO AN UNSAFE CONDITION. IN THE CASE OF MY VEHICLE'S ABS, THE FAILURE MODE ALMOST ALLOW ME TO HIT THE SCHOOL BUS. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FUEL PRESSURE PUMP AND ECM WERE DIAGNOSED AS THE CAUSES OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL DELIVERY PUMP AND FUSES AT THE COST OF $850.26. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FUEL SYSTEM RECALL. I HAVE A 2000 GMC YUKON (NON-XL). I WAS TURNING AROUND IN A PARKING LOT AND HEARD A CRUNCH IN THE FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I WENT TO STRAIGHTEN OUT AND CONTINUED ONTO THE STREET, THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. I HAD TO STRONG ARM IT HOME. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON RECALLS AND FOUND THAT THE 2000 GMC YUKON XL HAD IN FACT BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SYMPTOMS THAT MY VEHICLE HAD (NON XL). I CALLED GMC THE NEXT DAY AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. I ASKED THEM IF THE SAME RECALLED POWER STEERING PARTS ARE USED FOR THE STANDARD AND THE XL YUKON. THE GMC REPRESENTATIVE WOULD NOT SAY YES OR NO, JUST NOT NECESSARILY IS ALL HE WOULD SAY. I TOLD THEM REGARDLESS THAT THEY SHOULD DO A RECALL ON THE STANDARD YUKON DUE TO THE FACT THAT OURS DID THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE YUKON XL HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR AND THAT THIS WAS A LIFE OR DEATH TYPE FAILURE IN THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES (IE; DRIVING ON THE ROAD WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED). GMC REQUESTED THAT I TAKE MY YUKON TO THE DEALER AND FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT HAD BROKE. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY (MORE SORE ARMS) AND LEFT IT FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THE DAMAGE THAT HAD BEEN DONE. THE DEALER GOT BACK TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP, SHAFT, ACTUATOR, AS WELL AS THE MOUNTING BRACKET HAD FAILED. THE DEALER HAD TALKED TO THE LOCAL GMC REPRESENTATIVE AND THEY DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD HELP WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THEY HOWEVER TOLD US THAT THEY WERE NOT BUYING THE PART OR THE LABOR BUT THEY WOULD OFFER $200 TOWARD THE COST OF THE REPAIR AND WE WOULD HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE BALANCE $350 FOR A TOTAL OF $550 TO REPAIR. I AM ALSO CURIOUS IF GMC WILL BE REPLACING MY BROKEN PARTS WITH THE EXACT SAME PARTS THAT ARE DESTINED TO BREAK AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. MY GMC YUKON XL HAS BRAKING AND FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEMS, I HAVE HAD 1 ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE YUKONS BRAKES DEACTIVATING WHILE HITTING A SMALL BUMP ON THE STREET WHILE TRYING TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. I HAVE CONTACTED GMC AND ALL THEY SAID IS THEY WOULD OFFER ME A 1,000 REBATE ON THE NEXT PURCHASE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH THEY ADVERTISED THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT ON ("CNN") ALONG WITH THE OTHER DEFECTS. THERE HAS BEEN OTHER HIDDEN RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROPERLY TELL OR NOTIFY ME. *JB

MY 2000 GMC YUKON DENALI IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL 05068 FROM GMC. GMC HAS TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE RIGHT TIME FRAME BUT DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RIGHT VIN NUMBERS. I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS! THE FOLLOWING IS AN EMAIL THAT I RECEIVED FROM GMC: VEHICLES OF A MODEL YEAR ARE AFFECTED. THERE IS AN UPCOMING RECALL 05068 FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR- DESCRIPTION: ABS WHEEL SENSORS. GENERAL MOTORS WILL NOTIFY ALL OWNERS OF INVOLVED VEHICLES BEGINNING 10/12/2005. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 31 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD IN DRY CONDITIONS THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT STRUCK A TREE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT PASSENGER HAD TO BE EXTRACTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DASHBOARD COLLAPSED INTO THE FRONT SEAT ALONG WITH THE FIREWALL. THERE WERE 3 INJURIES, AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. A GM REPRESENTATIVE RETRIEVED THE BLACK DETECTION BOX, VERIFIED THE SPEED OF 31 MPH, AND DETERMINED THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. ON MY 2000 GMC YUKON XL, A COMPUTER MODULE FOR THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND GOES OUT CAUSING A SMALL ELECTRIC MOTOR TO STAY ON RUNNING THE BATTERY DOWN. THE FUSE FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM MUST BE REMOVED, THUS DISABLING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DYING. THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED TWICE ON MY VEHICLE AND ALSO TO MANY OTHERS WITH 1999-2002 YUKONS. GMC KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT IT. *NM

OUR GAS GAUGE ON OUR 2000 GMC YUKON COMPLETELY QUIT WORKING. TOOK IT IN THINKING IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THE FUEL PUMP WAS BROKEN. THE PROBLEM THAT COST US A LOT OF MONEY WAS THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED INSIDE THE GAS TANK AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE GAS TANK TO FIX THE PROBLEM. FIRST, WHY WOULD THIS HAPPEN ON A CAR THIS NEW WITH ONLY AROUND 50,000 MILES AND SECOND, WHY PUT THE FUEL PUMP INSIDE THE GAS TANK SO THAT IT IS SO EXPENSIVE TO FIX? *JB

REF PRESENT RECALL ON 1999-2002 CHEVY & GMC SILVERADO, YUKON LIGHT TRUCKS. I NOTICE THAT RUST IS THE FACTOR IN THE ANTI-LOCK SENSOR RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO FURTHER ADD THAT RUST IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR BREAKDOWN IN ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM. I HAVE A 2000 YUKON WITH 26000 MILES THAT HAS EXTREME RUST DECAY TO REAR AXLE BACKING PLATES AND FRONT ROTORS. THE LOCAL DEALER WHEN QUESTIONED ADMITTED ITS DUE TO RUST BELT ISSUES. I DID NOTICE THAT GM HAS ADMITTED TO HAVING RUST BELT ISSUES WITH ITS BRAKING SYSTEM. WHY ARE YOU NOT REQUIRING THEM TO MITIGATE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WHICH IS EFFECTED? ARE THEY NOT PART & PARCEL OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM? WHY SHOULD THE CONSUMER BE SADDLED WITH THE EXPENSIVE REPAIR OF REPLACING THESES COMPONENTS WHICH IF THEY HAVE NOT FAILED SERIOUSLY IMPAIR THE BRAKING AND HANDLING OF THE VEHICLES IN QUESTION. MY MECHANIC ADVISES THAT HE HAS HAD MANY OF THE SAME VEHICLES COME IN FOR REPAIRS WITH IDENTICAL RUST DISINTEGRATION. I PULLED A BOAT WITH THE VEHICLE (2000 GMC YUKON XL 2500) ABOUT 275 MILES TO A LAKE AND PUT IT IN THE WATER. TOOK THE BOAT OUT OF THE WATER AND STARTED BACKING IT INTO A SPACE WHEN I HEARD A STRANGE "POP". THEN REALIZED THAT ALL POWER ASSISTED BRAKING AND STEERING WAS GONE. HAD TO LEAVE THE BOAT WHERE IT WAS, AND WAS HAPPY THE PROBLEM DIDN'T OCCUR WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY. TESTED THE VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE I COULD STEER AND STOP IT UNDER CAREFUL CIRCUMSTANCES, THEN DROVE IT DIRECTLY, SLOWLY, AND CAREFULLY TO THE DEALER ABOUT 50 MILES. MY OWN INVESTIGATION FOUND A RECALL ID NUMBER 05V005000: "HYDRAULIC PUMP DRIVESHAFT THAT CAN FRACTURE, RESULTING IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. ON CERTAIN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HYDRO-BOOST POWER BRAKES, THE SAME CONDITION CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER ASSIST FOR BRAKING AFTER THE RESERVE PRESSURE IS DEPLETED." THE DEALER CONFIRMED THIS WAS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT THE RECALL DID NOT COVER MY VIN - [XXX]. SEEMED STRANGE TO ME THAT 98000+ OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME TYPE FROM THE SAME YEAR ARE COVERED, BUT MINE WASN'T. NOW I SEE THAT THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO OTHER COMPLAINTS HERE WITH THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES AS MINE. I THINK THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE WIDENED. THOUGH I GOT NO INITIAL HELP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I CALLED THE GMC RECALL 800 NUMBER AND THEY DIRECTED ME BACK TO THE DEALERS GENERAL MANAGER AND SAID I SHOULD HAVE HIM SPEAK TO THE GM REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT COMPENSATION IN MY CASE. I DID THAT, AND AT LEAST THEY DID COVER THE COST OF THE PART (ABOUT $500), BUT NOT THE LABOR OF $193 TO REPLACE THE PUMP. I ASKED TO KEEP THE OLD PUMP AND WAS TOLD THAT I COULD, BUT WAS NOT GIVEN THE PUMP OR AN EXPLANATION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP. THE RECEIPT FROM THE DEALER SEEMS TO INDICATE A "CORE RETURN" UNDER PARTS, SO I GUESS I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY TO KEEP THE OLD PART AND NOT RETURN IT. ABS SENSOR WENT BAD IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY. ABS WOULD GO OFF ON DRY ROADS JUST BEFORE VEHICLE STOPPED. SOMETIMES THIS CAUSED OUR VEHICLE TO TAKE LONGER TO STOP. WE HAD THE WHOLE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY REPLACED BY A NON DEALER GARAGE TO THE TUNE OF $382.47. NOW ONE YEAR LATER THE PROBLEM IS BACK. I THINK GM HAS A BIG PROBLEM HERE AND SHOULD RECALL ALL THESE. OUR 2000 GMC YUKON XL ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT.

WE ARE AFFECTED BY THE RECENT RECALL CONCERNING THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND ARE WAITING FOR THE NEW HARNESS PARTS TO ARRIVE. HOWEVER, ABOUT THE SAME TIME WE BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THAT, WE ALSO BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH A STICKING ACCELERATOR. AFTER STARTING AND PLACING THE VEHICLE IN GEAR, THE THROTTLE STICKS AND IS OBVIOUSLY A MECHANICAL PROBLEM RATHER THAN A LUBRICATION ISSUE. ONCE THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO ROLL, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. WE AHEV LIVED WITH THIS FOR SOME TIME AND HAVE RECENTLY DRIVEN TWO OTHER GMC PRODUCTS (2001 GMC 1500 YUKON XL AND A 2001 CHEVY 1500 PICKUP), THEY TOO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I AM QUITE CERTAIN THIS IS GOING TO BECOME A RECALL EVENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT WITH THE STICKING OF THE ACCELERATOR, THE VEHICLE OFTEN LURCHES FORWARD AFTER ENOUGH PRESSURE HAS BEEN EXERTED. BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAD INCIDENCES IN RECENT WEEKS WHERE WE NEEDED TO RELEASE THE PEDAL AND RESET STOPPING JUST BARELY IN TIME BEFORE A COLLISION. WE PLAN ON BRING THE CAR INTO GMC THIS WEEK. AT SLOW BRAKING SPEEDS {AT 5 MPH} THE ABS BRAKES GO OFF EVERY TIME YOU STOP. WHEN COASTING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT 5 MPH, WHEN THE BRAKES GO OFF THEY LOCK UP AND THEY DO NOT LET GO. WHEN THEY LOCK UP, AND YOUR CANNOT STOP OR CONTROL THE BRAKING, YOU RUN INTO THE CARS PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICHLE ANY MORE BECAUSE SHE CANNOT CONTROL THE STOPPING. I REMOVED THE FUSES THAT CONTROL THE ABS BRAKING SO THAT I CAN CONTROL MY BRAKING.

THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED WHILE DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS. FORTUNATELY NOT WHILE ON THE CURVY, SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN ROADS. THE VEHICLE REQUIRED TOWING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PUMP AND CHARGED $200. MUCH INCONVEIENCE WAS INCURRED, WE HAD TO BE RETRIVED FROM THE MOUNTAINS(65 MILES), TAKEN TO THE DEALER BY OTHERS TO RETRIVE VEHICLE, ETC. THERE'S A RECALL(ID 05V005000) OF 98,221 OF THIS EXACT MODEL AND YEAR FOR THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. GMC CLAIMS MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL AND WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME THE $200, WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SHUTTLE COST FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO HOME AND OTHER INCIDENTALS.

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

1. DURING A FAMILY VACATION TO FLORIDA, MY BRAKING SYSTEM STARTED TO FAIL AT SLOW SPEEDS NORMALLY BETWEEN 5 AND 10MPH. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD BECOME STIFF AND THE SYSTEM WOULD MAKE NOISE LIKE THE ABS WAS BEING ACTIVATED. 2. BEING A FAMILY VEHICLE, I HAD THE REPAIR DONE IMMEDIATELY, THE TECHNICIANS IN FLORIDA WERE NOT FAMILIAR WITH MY SYMPTOM. AT FIRST THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER BUT THIS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. 3. THE CREW TOOK TWO ADDITIONAL DAYS TO FIGURE OUT FINALLY THAT THE FRONT WHEEL SENSORS FOR THE ABS WERE CORRODED (BECAUSE I LIVE IN MAINE) AND THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE SENSORS AND THIS ALLEVIATED THE PROBLEM.

WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES ON MY 2000 GMC YUKON XL I HAVE EXPERIENCED ENGAGEMENT OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND SUBSEQUENT INCREASED DISTANCE REQUIRED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THE DESCRIBED PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS AT LOWER SPEEDS, 25-40MPH, AND GOOD ROAD CONDITIONS (DRY PAVEMENT). I HAVE RECENTLY HAD MAINTANCE WORK PREFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP WHEIRE I PURCHASED THE CAR. I REPORTED THE BRAKING PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE MANAGERAND ASKED THAT THE BRAKE AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BE INSPECTED. PRIOR TO VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM A TEST DRIVE WAS COMPLETED IN AN ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THE BRAKING PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE "VIBRATION: WAS DUE TO A PROBLEM IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT DID NOT POSE ANY SAFETY THREAT. I EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT THE "VIBRATION" WAS NOT FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL BUT IN THE BRAKE SHOE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES WERE INSPECTED AND REPORTED TO HAVE 80% WEAR ON THE FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE REAR BRAKE PADS HAD BEEN REPLACED ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO AND STILL LOOKED GOOD. THERE WAS NO REPORTED PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. I REQUESTED TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT THAT TIME. ALL MAINTANCE SERVICE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OIL AND FILTER CHANGES HAS BEEN DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED.

MY 2000 GMC YUKON XL CAME WITH DEFECTIVE FIRESTONE STEELTEX R4S TIRES. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ONE OF THE FOUR TIRES BLEW OUT. UPON EXAMINATION OF ALL FOUR TIRES ON THE CAR BY MY MECHANIC HE FOUND ALL FOUR TIRES HAD SIGNS OF VERTICAL SEPARATION OF THE SIDEWALL AND PARTIAL TREAD SEPARATION OF THE LEFT REAR TIRE AND BIZARRE WEAR. THE TIRE THAT BLEW OUT HAD COME APART ON ONE OF THESE VERTICAL SEPARATIONS. I REPLACED THE TIRE WITH THE SPARE AND DROVE IT TO A FIRESTONE DEALER. THE DESIGN OF MY 2000 GMC YUKON'S EMERGENCY BRAKE IS FAULTY. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED ON MY CAR TWICE. IN APRIL OF 2002, MY CAR FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE NOT WORKING. I HAD TO PAY $550 TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AND REPLACE A REAR ROTOR THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD DAMAGED BECAUSE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PADS HAD WORN DOWN AND THE BASE OF THE BRAKE DAMAGED THE ROTOR. THE CAR PASSED INSPECTION BUT THE BRAKE DID NOT SEEM TO WORK WELL. SO IN 2004, INSPECTION TIME ROLLS AROUND AND MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AGAIN FAILS. I WAS TOLD GM HAD PLACED A RECALL TO FIX THEIR FAULTY DESIGN BUT I AM NOT SURE IF THAT IS TRUE OR NOT. EITHER WAY, THE DESIGN ON THIS CAR IS TERRIBLE. THE ONLY TIME THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS EVER USED IS WHEN THE STATE INSPECTION SERVICE TESTS IT TO SEE IF IT WORKS. REAR SEAT BELTS IN 2000 GMC YUKONS FAIL TO RETRACT, PROVIDING NO SAFETY FOR CHILDREN IN THE REAR SEAT WHEN SEATED IN CHILD RESTRAINT SEATS THAT ARE NOT SEMI-PERMANENTLY MOUNTED IN THE REAR WITH THE SEAT BELT THREADED THROUGH THEM. CHILD SEATS THAT USE THE SEAT BELT AS THE PRIMARY RESTRAINING DEVICE ARE USELESS WHEN THE BELTS DO NOT TIGHTEN. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO GMC AND THE DEALER HAS REPAIRED AND/OR REPLACED THE SEAT BELT ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS. PARKING BRAKE ISSUE. I OCCASIONALLY NOTICED A SCRAPING NOISE COMING SOMEWHERE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. THE SERVICING DEALER PULLED THE REAR BREAK ROTOR OFF TO INSPECT THE PARKING BRAKE. THEY FOUND THAT THE PAD HAD WORN ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE METAL AND THAT THE NOISE I WAS HEARING WAS THE REMENANTS OF THE SHOE, THE LINER, SCRAPING AGAINST THE DRUM. THE DEALER MAINTAINED THAT I MUST BE DRIVING WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. I MAINTAINED THAT WAS NOT TRUE, THAT THERE MUST BE A DESIGN FLAW WITH SOME OF THE BRAKE COMPONENTS CAUSING THE UNINTENDED ENGAGING OF THE PARKING BRAKE SHOE AND THE DRUM. I CONTACTED GMC DIRECTLY A SPOKE WITH A SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WHO MAINTAINED THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. I DID NOT WANT TO SIMPLY REPLACE ALL THE PARKING BRAKE AND DRUM AS I FELT THERE WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM AND THAT MY ISSUE WOULD BE RECURRING. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT THE BRAKE SHOE LINER COULD EVENTUALLY WEAR OUT THE DRUM AND POSSIBLE CAUSE A CRASH. HOWEVER, I AM NOT ABLE TO STOP DRIVING THE CAR. SUBSEQUENTLY, AFTER RESEARCHING THE NHTSA SITE, I FOUND GMC'S SERVICE BULLETIN, NHTSA # 10000172 DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM AND THE RECOMMENDED FIX, WHICH WAS REPLACING A PART WITH A "NEWLY DESIGNED PART ( A TENSION SPRING)! THE SERVICE BULLETIN DID NOT STATE THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY DRIVERS DRIVING THEIR CARS WITH THEIR PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. I BELIEVE THAT ENOUGH OWNERS COMPLAINED AND GMC REALIZED THAT IT WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM. THE BULLENTIN COVERS SERVAL GM MODELS. AGAIN, THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE NOISE CAUSED BY THE SCRAPING, BUT THE POTENTIAL ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THE BRAKE SHOE LINER EVENTUALLY WEARING THRU THE PARKING BRAKE DRUM POSSIBLE CAUSING THE ROTOR TO SEPERATE. THIS COULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. A LOSS OF CONTROL OR SUDDEN STOP PROBABLY WOULD TAKE PLACE. I THINK THAT COULD BE VERY SERIOUS AND NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.

I HAVE ALSO SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM FILED ON 2000 YUKONS. PASSENGER SEAT BELT TIGHTENS AS YOU RIDE TO THE POINT OF CAUSING PAIN, YOU MUST DISENGAGE SEAT BELT AND RENGAGE TO CORRECT PROBLEM. THIS IS ALSO IS A DANGER AS YOU COULD BE UNBELTED WHEN AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS. I ALSO HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN SERVICE BULLENTINS ON THESE PROBLEMS, BUT GM REFUSES TO PAY THE REPAIR COST ON OUR VEHICLE. THEY HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS SINCE THESE VEHICLES WERE IN WARRANTY. MY YOUKON WOULD NOT START INTERMITTENTLY. I HAD IT TOWED TO COURTESY CHEVROLET AND THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE FOR $1500 TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK AND PUMP MODULE. I COULD NOT BELIEVE A TRUCK ONLY 4 YEARS OLD ALREADY NEEDED A NEW FUEL TANK. SO I SEARCHED THE NHTSA DATABASE FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND FOUND THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE EXCEPT IT IS BEING CAUSED BY SHORTED PUMP WIRES IN THE GAS TANK. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME AND REMOVED THE GAS TANK MYSELF SO I COULD GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS. WHEN I REMOVED THE PUMP MODULE FROM THE TANK IT WAS JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE HAD SAID. THE WIRES WERE COMPLETELY MELTED TOGETHER. THEREFORE THE INTERMITTENT ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK NOT STARTING WAS BEING CAUSED BY THE WIRES SHORTING FROM TIME TO TIME INSIDE THE GAS TANK. WHAT IS AMAZING TO ME IS THAT I AM STILL ALIVE TODAY AND MY WIFE AND TWO KIDS (6 & 8) DID NOT GET INJURED. I BELIEVE THERE IS AN EFFORT OF GM TO COVER THIS PROBLEM UP DUE TO MY DEALINGS WITH GM CUSTOMER SUPPORT (OR THEIR LACK OF). REPORTING THIS TO THE NHTSA IS JUST MY FIRST STEP. MY CONCERN IS THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN AT LEAST 4 TIMES SINCE IT WAS NEW WITH COMPLAINTS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DOESN'T WORK. "ADJUSTMENTS" HELPED ONLY TEMPORARILY. I AM NOW INFORMED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ARE WORN OUT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED, OF COURSE AT MY EXPENSE. I WAS ALSO TOLD I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROBLEM, AS I HAD TO BE DRIVING WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I LOOKED AT THE CENTER FOR AUTO SAFETY FOR THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND OTHER OWNERS OF GMC YUKONS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. VERY FEW OWNERS CHECK THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ROUTINELY, IN MY OPINION, AND IT IS LIKELY THE PROBLEM MAY BE A COMMON ONE, AND THUS A SAFETY ISSUE. BASICALLY FOR THE 3 YEARS I'VE OWNED MY VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD INADEQUATE OR NON-FUNCTIONING EMERGENCY BRAKES, WHICH I FEEL HAS JEOPARDIZED MY SAFETY. MY VEHICLE HAS 46000 MILES, I HAVE HAD THE BRAKES REPAIRED BY A NON-GM FACILITY, WITH GOOD RESULTS. I WAS ALSO TOLD THERE WAS EVIDENCE THE BRAKES WERE SERIOUSLY OUT OF ADJUSTMENT, AND HAD WEAR PATTERNS WHICH WOULD INDICATE A CAUSE OTHER THAN MY DRIVING WITH THE BRAKE ON. I PLAN TO MEET WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER FOR MY DEALER AND DISCUSS THIS MATTER FURTHER. MY EXPENSE FOR REPAIR WAS APPROX $250, DONE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AFTER THE DEALER HAD INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND DECLINED TO REPAIR. I FELT I HAD BEEN GIVEN MISLEADING INFORMATION AS TO THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. EARLY IN THE HISTORY OF THIS PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AS THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO. NAIVELY I ACCEPTED THIS EXPLANATION, UNTIL MY LAST VISIT WITH THE DEALER. I SUGGEST A SURVEY OF 1000 OWNERS BE DONE, WITH SELF CHECK OF EMERGENCY BRAKE FUNCTION, TO DETERMINE IF THIS PROBLEM IS A COMMON ONE. THANK YOU. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED, I WAS TOLD THIS VEHICLE HAS A NEW TYPE PARKING BRAKE. IT WAS NOT DESIGNED TO HOLD THE VEHICLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL. IT WOULD ONLY HOLD THE VEHICLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. AFTER TWO YEARS OF THE PARKING BRAKE NOT HOLDING I HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE AND INQUIRED ONE MORE TIME ABOUT THE PARKING BRAKE. THE DEALER CHECKED IT AND TOLD ME THE BRAKE PADS WERE WORN OUT AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PADS AND MADE SOME OTHER CHANGES. NOW THE PARKING BRAKE DOES HOLD THE VEHICLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL. I OWN A 2000 GMC YUKON XL. OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS, I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE CONTINUALLY BLOWING A FUSE (ECM B FUSE). UPON MY OWN RESEARCH INTO THE CIRCUITRY, I DETERMINED THE LIKELY PROBLEM WAS THE FUEL PUMP. I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND UPON REMOVING AND INSPECTING THE OLD COMPONENT, I DISCOVERED THE HOT WIRE (GRAY WIRE) WHICH OPERATES THE PUMP MOTOR HAD BEEN HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE INSULATION OFF THE WIRE. MOREOVER, THIS HOT WIRE HAD MELTED INTO ONE OF THE WIRES OF THE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT, WHICH IS A GROUND CIRCUIT. THE PROBLEM I WOULD LIKE TO BRING TO LIGHT HERE IS THAT THE FUEL PUMP UNIT IS INSIDE THE FUEL TANK. WHEN THIS HOT WIRE CAME INTO CONTACT WITH THE OTHER WIRE, I ASSUME THERE WAS A SPARK, OR THE POTENTIAL FOR ONE. WHY DIDN'T MY VEHICLE EXPLODE? I KNOW THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THESE VEHICLES ON THE ROAD, BUT I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY SUCH EXPLOSIONS. I DO KNOW OF ANOTHER GM VEHICLE THAT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OF EXPOSED WIRES IN THE FUEL TANK. I DISCOVERED TWO GAPS IN THE REAR SEALS ON THE LIFT GATE OF MY 2000 GMC YUKON XL. THE GAPS ARE AT THE BOTTOM CORNERS OF THE LIFT GATE (RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES) AND ARE APPROXIMATELY 1 TO 3 INCHES LONG AND ABOUT 1/16" WIDE. THESE GAPS WILL ALLOW EXHAUST GASSES TO COME INTO THE VEHICLE, OR WATER IN THE EVENT OF A HEAVY RAINSTORM. WE PLAN TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST DEALER VERY SOON, AS WE HAVE 35,990 MILES ON IT AND WE WANT IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SEALS APPEAR TO BE INADEQUATE, I.E. INSUFFICIENT IN SIZE OR THICKNESS TO ADEQUATELY SEAL THE BOTTOM CORNERS OF THE LIFT GATE. THIS PROBLEM WAS FOUND BY INSPECTION BY MYSELF, AS I WAS INSPECTING THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO ALLOWING THE WARRANTY TO EXPIRE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO SEE LIGHT COMING THROUGH EACH CORNER, BEFORE ANYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAP IN THE SEALS.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 72MPH, WHICH HAD BEEN ON AND IN PLACE FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES, I LOOKED DOWN AND SAW THAT THE CAR WAS NOW GOING 85 - EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR. I DECIDED THAT I WOULD HIT THE BRAKE A LITTLE TO DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE AND RESET IT. AFTER TOUCHING THE BRAKE, BUT BEFORE I PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WAS BACK UP TO 80 - 85. I PLAYED AROUND WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH, HOPING TO STOP THE PROBLEM. NOTHING WORKED IN THAT REGARD, SO I THOUGHT I WOULD JUST GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, TURN THE CAR OFF (WHICH WOULD RESET EVERYTHING), AND START OVER. WHILE TRAVELING TO THE EXIT, WHICH WAS ABOUT TWO MILES, I HAD TO KEEP SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE CAR AT AN ACCEPTABLE HIGHWAY SPEED. ONCE I PULLED OFF ONTO THE EXIT RAMP, I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET TO GET IT SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE THE TURN OFF THE RAMP. SINCE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP, I TRIED PUTTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL TO GET THE PULL OFF THE WHEELS, AT WHICH TIME THE RPMS RED-LINED. I TRIED ALL THE DIFFERENT GEARS, WHICH HAD THE SAME RESULT. I BRACED MYSELF FOR THE JOLT AND THREW THE CAR INTO PARK, NO JOLT - THE RPMS WENT TO RED-LINE. AT THIS POINT I WAS HEADED FOR A GAS STATION AND I TURNED THE CAR OFF. UPON SHUTTING THE CAR OFF, A HUGE PUFF OF BLACK SMOKE CAME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AND EVERYTHING SMELLED LIKE BURNING RUBBER. A TOW TRUCK TOWED US BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN OF NO HELP WHAT SO EVER.

I WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT AND NOTICED GAS FUMES IN THE CAB. I GOT OUT AND LOOKED UNDER THE SUV AND THERE WAS A PUDDLE OF GASOLINE DRIPPING OFF THE ENGINE ONTO THE GROUND. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER (WHICH COULDN'T FIX IT ON A SATURDAY SO WE HAD TO STAY IN TOWN TWO EXTRA DAYS UNTIL MONDAY AND RENT A CAR, BUT THEY WERE FAST ON MONDAY) . I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THIS WAS NOT A COVERED REPAIR BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY PERIOD , BUT MORE CONCERNING WAS THAT THEY COULD OFFER NO EXPLAINATION AS TO WHAT HAD CAUSED THE LEAK. I TOOK YUKON TO MARTIN GMC SAID ODOR WAS PROBABLY CAUSED BY EITHER MOLD/FUNGUS IN THE EVAPORATOR & COILS. THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG AND NAUSEATING . THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS THRU GMC ON THIS PROBLEM. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY FAMILIES HEALTH SINCE I HAVE CHRONIC ASTHMA AND MY CHILDREN HAVE ALLERGIES. THE DEALER IS GOING TO PUT A COATING OF CHEMICALS ON THE EVAPORATOR COILS THAT WILL (KILL?) MOLD AND FUNUS, THEN THEY WILL INSTALL AN ELECTONIC EVAPORATOR DRYER. I HOPE THIS IS GOING TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION AND NOT BE JUST A TEMPORARY FIX BECAUSE MOLD IS VERY HARD TO ERRADICATE IF YOU DO NOT GET TO THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. I AM UPSET THAT A NEW CAR CAN HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND I'VE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED CASE. DO YOU KNOW OF ANY HEALTH RISKS DUE TO THIS? CO REP STATED NEW WEATHER STRIPPING. 6 MONTHS OF ADJUSTING, WEATHER STRIPPING AND WAITING ON PARTS THE GAP IS STILL APPARENT AND CAUSING THE RATTLE CHATTER. 11/30/2001 DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. I AM FILING A COMPLAINT AGAINST NHTSA FOR PERMITTING MANY AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS TO UTILIZE SO-CALLED HIGH-BRIGHTNESS ARC-LAMPS ON PASSENGERS VEHICLES. THESE LAMPS CAUSE TEMPORARY BLINDNESS AND UNWARRANTED GLARE FOR OLDER DRIVERS SUCH AS MYSELF. THIS IS AN ESPECIAL PROBLEM WHEN THE ARC-LAMP EQUIPPED VEHICLE COMES OVER A HILL OR HITS A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE POINT SOURCE NATURE OF THESE LAMPS RESULTS IN MUCH LOSS OF VISION IN DARK AREAS WITHIN THE FIELD OF VISION BECAUSE OF SCATTER DUE TO AGE HARDENING OF THE CRYSTALLINE LENSES OF THE EYE STRUCTURE. MY NEW GMC WAS SHIPPED WITHOUT A DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG. WE HAD AN INTERMITTANT INDICATION (WARNINING LIGHT) ABOUT 4 WEEKS AFTER WE PURCHASED THE VECHICLE. I BELIEVE THE AIR BAG WAS TAKEN/NOT INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY AND THAT THE WIRING WAS RIGGED TO SHOW AN AIRBAG WAS INSTALLED. I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE, WITH NO RESPONSE OTHER THEN THEY CREATED A FILE. BOTTOMLINE...IF AN AIRBAG IS NOT INSTALLED THE SYSTEM SHOULD INDICATE A FAULT. WHEN IN DRIVE FROM PARKED POSITION ACCELERATE AND IT REVS AND REVS AND FINALLY SLAMS INTO DRIVE THEN INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING GOES IN & OUT OF GEAR. THE FRONT SEATS ROCK UNPREDICTABLY. THEY ROCK BOTH FORWARD AND REWARD UNDER ACCELERATION AND BRAKING AS WELL AS ROUGH TERRAIN. THIS IS IRRITATING AS WELL AS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO BRAKE/ACCELERATE CONSISTENTLY WITH THE MOVEMENT IN THE SEAT. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AS WELL AS GM CANADA AND I HAVE HAD THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS SEAT REPLACED. THERE IS STILL SOME MOVEMENT IN THE SEATS PARTICULARLY THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE DEALER NOW CLAIMS THE MOVEMENT THAT IS STILL REMAINING IS A NORMAL CONDITION. *AK
