On 9-12-25 I was pulling a utility trailer when I went to back it in the driveway my 2013 gmc 1500 5.3 stalled . I restarted it only to have a lifter claddering !!!! I checked the oil it was good ! Oil pressure was good not over heating . It is just the lifter!!!!!! After doing some investigating I found that this is a common problem with GM's 5.3 with the AFM system!!! Companies should be held accountable for fraudulent designs!!! This is Not the first time for GM screwing consumers!!! GM had a similar situation back in the 70s and 80s Cadillac!!!! I bought this truck from a GM Dealer with 67000 miles only drove it in 1 winter it now has 149900 miles!!!! 5 years !!! Change oil and filter every 3000-4000 miles ,use Mobile 5w- 30w !!!! I feel a recall should be made to hold GM Accountable for what they new was a problem but produced and Screwed consumers to make SALES !!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask any quality Repair facility that works on GM'S or Even Auto Parts personal. When it stalled it left me in the middle of the Road with traffic!!! Even if it did start right back up !! Clacking!! The cost is unbearable!!!!!!
DURING AN OIL CHANGE IN MAY I WAS INFORMED THAT MY FRAME WAS EXTREMELY ROTTED AND WAS IN JEOPARDY OF CRACKING IN HALF . THE FURTHER I DIG INTO THIS, I'M FINDING THAT GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION.
Roof rust at the windshield on a perfect condition vehicle. Paint is excellent on rest of vehicle. No damage or accidents and properly maintained. Premature rust is now visible at the roof of the of the vehicle. Soon could rot and allow water into cab of vehicle.
The frame on my 2013 GMC Sierra has a considerable amount of rust & corrosion on it, to the point of being a safety concern because it's actually rusted through to where there are holes rusted through the frame!!
I found out that the frame was rusted through beside the gas tank and was told there was a memo put out to the dealers that there was a problem with the frames not being coated properly and if the customer notice it they were to repair it. My truck was service regularly and undercoated regularly by the dealer the body is rust free but I am being told the frame is on safe and can't be repaired and GM will not make it right even though they knew there was a problem. I pull a travel trailer and if the frame was to break in half I am sure someone would be seriously hurt or killed.
I hit a bump and both rear shock mounts blew off the rear cross member because the frame is rusted out despite having rust protection. It is available for inspection. The truck then began bouncing wildly. Meanwhile the underside of the bed isn't rusted at all, not one speck. It just seems weird to me, reminds me of the Toyota frame problems from a while back. It has not been inspected by a mechanic or insurance, my insurance company didn't seem to care in the slightest. I have had traction control and abs warnings on for a while but my mechanic said that was a faulty tire sensor.

Rear half of Frame Crossmembers rotted away between the Frame rails. Took vehicle in for routine safety inspection, and the mechanic determined that the cross members to which the rear shocks and the Gas tank were attached had both broken free from the frame rails due to rust. The entire back end of the vehicle is suspended from the frame with only the leaf spring mounts. This rust is excessive and far exceeds the rust on other points on the frame and undercarriage of the vehicle.

I have been told by an independent Maine state inspection company that my left front frame rail has perforating corrosion and will not pass inspection. I have not had GMC inspect this yet but I do not think they will repair it. This truck is 10 years old and only has 59,000 miles on it. It looks like new (except for some rear bumper damage) It is unusable now and I'm afraid the left front suspension will collapse. This is completely unacceptable. Please help, Thank you.

Dash has at least 7 different cracks and failing in several spots
Passenger side leaf spring "failed"- the middle "stiffener" rear section broke off/ fell to the road (see picture below with leaf spring removed). Fortunately, I was turning into side street doing about 15mph negating any safety issues- things could have been much different if at highway speeds. The truck had some significant miles (125k) but they were 95% highway miles though I do considerable highway miles with "treated" roads over Washington state passes. Vehicle was repaired by Haselwood GMC/Chev Dealership in Bremerton, Wa. on 5/25/22. Maintenance/Repair supervisor chalked it up to routine wear and tear.

WHEN THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DUE TO A RECALL THE DASH CRACKED WHILE THEY WERE WORKING ON THE TRUCK
The interior and exterior door handles broke on both doors on my 2013 GMC SIERRA truck. There was no warnings and my safety was at risk because the only way to enter or exit the vehicle is to crawl out the window.
I am a mechanic by trade and I noticed on 10/28/21 that gas was leaking from my truck's fuel pump. So I ordered a new fuel pump and prepared to install it last weekend. After removing the fuel tank it became obvious that I had a more serious problem with my truck. First, the fuel leak was from a rusted out fuel pump pressure line (on the actual fuel pump). This, in and of itself could have caused a fire as it was probably spraying gas directly onto the muffler! But then I find something much worse...the Fuel Tank Support Bar was completely rotted out! The Fuel Tank Support bar is part of the frame that hold the gas tank in place!! I guess I should be happy that it had a gas leak because if it hadn’t, the gas tank could have easily fallen out while I was driving it & could have killed both my wife & I! The truck is only 8 years old and I was shocked to see it in this condition. I have worked on cars that are over 30 years old and I have never seen this kind of rot on a frame! I purchased the truck in 2016 and I'm still making monthly payments on it! I would like to know what GMC is going to do to repair this! I have called the Dealership that I purchased it from but they were of no help. I anxiously await your reply! Thank you! Received notice in March 2021 of defective passenger side air bag inflator which, due to environmental related degradation can explode during deployment sending metal fragments through the air bag into the vehicle risking serious injury or death. Notice further states parts are not currently available to repair the defect. No notice was received as of 9/15/21, and in checking on NHTSA and GM websites on this topic, there is no indication of when or if it will ever be repaired. This complaint is initiated to get specific information how long a passenger in my vehicle is at risk of serious injury or death from this defective air bag inflator.

CRACKED DASHBOARD
A CRACK SUDDENLY APPEARED AT THE CORNER OF MY DASHBOARD AND THE DASHBOARD AIR BAG COVER THAT OPENS WHEN DEPLOYED. I HAVE PARKED MY GMC IN THE GARAGE EVERY DAY SINCE I BROUGHT IT HOME FROM THE DEALER. I USE A WINDSHIELD REFLECTOR WHEN PARKED OUTSIDE AT THE MARKET ECT... I HAVE READ ON LINE THAT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS HAPPENING TO OWNERS OF LIKE GMC'S AND YEAR MINE IS A 2013 SIERRA 1500. IT APPEARED SUDDENLY FOR NO REASON. I FEEL IT CAN AFFECT THE AIR BAGS ABILITY TO DEPLOY CORRECTLY AFFECTING MINE OR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IF IN AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD THINK GM SHOULD REPAIR THIS ISSUE AT NO CHARGE TO ME, IT'S A MANUFACTURE DEFECT.
ON OR ABOUT 10-14-2020 I HAD GOT A CALL FROM MY NIECE THAT SHE WAS AT A PARKING LOT AND THE TRUCK DIDN'T WANT TO RUN THE SAME. SHE WAS PASSING A INTERSECTION WHEN SHE HEARD A VERY LOUD POP NOISE AND A VERY SCARY NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE NOISE DID SHACK HER SOME BUT WHEN SHE NOTICES THE TRUCK HAD LOST ITS POWER SHE WAS MORE SCARE THAT SHE WAS GOING TO GET HIT BY A OTHER CAR CAME OUT TO BE THE LIFTERS AND CAMSHAFT . WHERE THEY BEEN HAVING CLASS ACTSIONS LAW SUITS WITH GM MOTORS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER GMC YEAR FROM 2009-2015 5.3 VORTEX ENGINS AND GMC KNEW ABOUT IT BEFORE THE SOLD THE VERY FIRST TRUCK ITS A $10,000.00 DALLORS REPAIR AND WITH THE BANK FINANCE I WILL BE PAYING MORE THEN 25,000.00 AFTER COST AND THIS TRUCK BLUE BOOK ITS AT 15,000.00 LAST TIME I CHECK IT SO ITS NOT WORTH PUTTING SO MUCH MORE MONEY FOR THAT YEAR OF TRUCK. WHERE CASES BEEN OPEN SINCE 2016 AND STILL OPEN NOW FOR GMC TO PERFORM THAT KINDA OF ENGINE TO BE CALLED AS A RE-CALL. ON 8-25-20, I TOOK MY 2013 GMC SIERRA TO AN AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR SHOP IN GENESEE, WI, FOR A BRAKES AND SHOCKS INSPECTION/REPAIR. THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON IT BECAUSE THEY SAID THE FRAME WAS 'BROKEN AND CRACKED' DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST PERFORATING THE FRAME. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME MY SIERRA SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE WORST FRAME DAMAGE IS IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE GAS TANK. I WAS SHOCKED BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION! ON 8-26-20, I CALLED AND SENT PHOTOS (SEE ATTACHED) TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP IN WAUPACA, WI, WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. HE STATED HE WOULD NOT DRIVE MY SIERRA AND NOR SHOULD I. HE REFERRED THE MATTER TO HIS GM REP TO SET UP AN OFFICIAL GM PET CASE. THE CASE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REFUSED DUE TO 'NO HISTORY' AT THE WAUPACA DEALERSHIP. THEY SUGGESTED I CALL A GMC DEALER IN WAUKESHA WHERE I DO HAVE AN ESTABLISHED HISTORY. THE SERVICE MANAGER THERE ALSO SAID MY SIERRA SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN AND THAT 'THE FRAME COULD BUCKLE IF PUT ON A HOIST.' HE ALSO REFUSED TO HELP ME. ON 9-2-20, I CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND RECEIVED AN ESCALATED CASE NUMBER. ON 9-9-20, A SENIOR ADVISOR FROM CUSTOMER CARE SAID SHE WOULD LOOK INTO THE MATTER BUT COULD NOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS 'OUT OF WARRANTY' WITH ITS 115,000 MILES. ON 9-17-20, THE ADVISOR SAID THE ONLY THING GM WOULD DO IS OFFER ME A $2,500 ALLOWANCE IF I WOULD TRADE IN MY GMC FOR A NEW MODEL. I REJECTED THIS OFFER AS I FIRMLY BELIEVE THE RUSTED AND PERFORATED FRAME IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT ALL OWNERS OF 2013 SIERRAS SHOULD IMMEDIATELY BE MADE AWARE OF!
CRACKS ON UPPER HARD PLASTIC DASH PANEL JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. WORRIED THAT IF THE BAG DEPLOYS IT WILL CAUSE HARD PLASTIC SHARDS TO FILL THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. ANOTHER CRACK HAS DEVELOPED JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL IN APPROXIMATELY THE SAME PLACE. HAD THIS ALSO HAPPEN ON A 2009 GMC YUKON WHICH WE HAVE SINCE SOLD.
PAINT ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD IS SEPARATING FROM THE PRIMER IN LARGE SHEETS. ONE LARGE AREA APPROXIMATELY THE SIZE OF A VOLLEYBALL WITH MULTIPLE SMALL AREAS ALONG THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD ACROSS THE TOP. ALSO HAS AN AREA ON THE RIGHT REAR QUARTER PANEL THE SIZE OF A HALF DOLLAR WHERE THE PAINT SEPARATED FROM THE PRIMER AND FELL OFF. VEHICLE STAYS PARKED MOST OF THE TIME IN THE GARAGE. I FIRST NOTICED THE PAINT PEELING AFTER COMING OUT OF WORK WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED IN THE SUN.
THE EDGE WHERE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND THE ROOF MEET THE PAINT HAS FLAKED AWAY AND STARTED TO RUST THE UNDERCOAT.

I WAS UNDERNEATH MY TRUCK FOR A MINOR SENSOR REPAIR AROUND THE END OF MARCH. I FOUND A SIGNIFICANT HOLE RUSTED THROUGH THE LEFT FRAME RAIL. I MADE CONTACT WITH GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THE SEVERITY OF RUST IN AND ON MY FRAME. THEY HAD A LOCAL DEALERSHIP EVALUATE THE FRAME. AFTER SEVERAL PEOPLE AND MANY WEEKS. THE BEST GM IS WILLING TO DO IS OFFER A $100.00 SERVICE VOUCHER. THIS A A TRUCK ,THAT HAULS ,TOWS AND CARRIES LOADS AND FAMILY. THAT 1/2 OF THE RIMS ON MY ONE TRUCK ARE LEAKING, IT SUGGESTS A LARGER DEFECT IN THE STANDARD RIMS. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MOTORIST SAFETY RESULTING FROM DEFECTIVE RIMS.

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH JOHNSON MOTOR COMPANY OF SOUTH CAROLINA (490 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, GRANITEVILLE, SC 29829) AND WAS ADVISED TO SPEAK TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

I PARKED AT MY PLACE OF WORK, I PUT MY WINDSHIELD SHADE UP AS I DO EVERYDAY, AND WHEN I CAME OUTSIDE TO GO HOME I NOTICED A CRACK ON THE DASH ON THE UPPER LEFT DASH SECTION BY THE AIRBAG, I'M WORRIED IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY THE DASH COULD SPLINTER SENDING PIECES OF SHARP PLASTIC AT THE PASSENGERS.
THE DASH IS CRACKING SEVERELY, THERE ARE 2 CRITICAL CRACKS 1 AT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND 1 AT THE GAUGE CLUSTER. THE WHOLE DASH VIBRATES AND BOUNCES WHICH IS A SAFETY CONCERNS FOR BOTH DRIVING BECAUSE IT DRAWS ATTENTION WHEN DRIVING AND ALSO THIS IS A STRUCTURE AREA THAT HOSTS THE SPEAKERS, AIRBAG, AND OTHER TRIM. THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED TRIM THIS IS A STRUCTURAL AREA THAT IS NEEDED TO HOLD THE DASH AREA TOGETHER SAFELY.
MY COMPLAINT IS FOR THE CRACKED DASHBOARD JUST ABOVE THE FORWARD LEFT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT. THE DASH CRACKED FOR NO APPARENT REASON; THERE IS NO KNOWN CAUSE. MY CONCERN IS BOTH COSMETIC AND SAFETY. NOT ONLY SHOULD A VEHICLE LESS THAN 5YRS OLD NOT HAVE A CRACKED DASHBOARD, BUT SINCE THE DASH IS CRACKED DIRECTLY ADJACENT TO THE AIR BAG COMPARTMENT, AND IS APPARENTLY PRONE TO CRACKING, THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE DASH TO SPLINTER AND PROJECT SMALL PIECES OF PLASTIC INTO THE BODY OF PASSENGERS IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO BE DEPLOYED.
I HAVE A 2013 GMC SIERRA DENALI. THE DASHBOARD BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG PLATE BEGAN TO CRACK ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO AND THE CRACK IS GROWING QUICKLY. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF GENERAL MOTORS VEHICLES DOING THIS AND THEY WILL NOT RECALL IT. IT CAN COST AROUND $1,000 TO HAVE IT FIXED. I AM WORRIED THE CRACK WILL CONTINUE TO GROW AND IF THE AIRBAG EVER DEPLOYS THE DASHBOARD WILL BUST INTO MANY PIECES AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES. THIS IS SOME BULL CRAP THAT THERE ARE SO MANY VEHICLES FROM 2007-2013 THAT ARE DOING THIS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE. MAKE THEM FIX THIS.

AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A SMOOTH INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, HEARD A POP AND NOTICED THE DASH HAD CRACKED AT THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AND STARTED MAKING A NOISE. A FEW DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED, BUT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE ONE CRACK HAS BECOME A CUT/SCRAPE HAZARD WHILE CLEANING. I ASSUME THAT IT WILL BECOME LARGER. POSSIBLY EXPOSING THE AIR BAG ASSEMBLY TO DAMAGING HEAT AND SUN EXPOSURE.
DASHBORD SEPARATING DOWN THE CENTER. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE DASHBOARD FLAPS. THIS IS A DEFAULT ISSUE WITH THE COMPANY. ALSO, CRACK ON THE LEFT SIDE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD WITH DISMANTLE CAUSING SERIOUS BODILY HARM.
I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE TO FIND THE HEATER CORE WAS BAD. TO REPLACE, THE DASHBOARD WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED. I ALREADY HAD A SMALL CRACK IN THE DASH LOCATED RIGHT ABOVE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. AFTER SERVICE WAS PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE DASHBOARD NOW HAS TWO MORE CRACKS IN IT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID I WILL HAVE TO PAY 40% AND THE CLOCK IN NOW TICKING. THE LONGER I WAIT, THE LESS GMC WILL PAY TO REPLACE. EVEN THOUGH THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT GMC IS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE DASH CRACKING, PEELING, ETC.

IF THE BAG DEPLOYS MORE THAN LIKELY THE BAG WILL TEAR DUE TO THE SHARP CRACK EDGES AND BECAUSE OF THE FORCE SHARDS OF PLASTIC DASHBOARD WILL BE FLYING SHRAPNEL INSIDE THE CAB. THERE IS NO DEVICE TO TURN OFF THE AIRBAG WHEN A CHILD IS IN THEIR SEAT. NOBODY MENTIONED THIS WHEN PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE THAT YOU SHOULD NOT INSTALL A CAR SEAT. WENT TO MICHIGAN STATE POLICE CAR SEAT EXPERT AND THE SARGE TELLS ME SHE HAS TRIED TO GET THEM TO INSTALL A SWITCH. I HAVE THE FEDERAL FORM SAYING I ASSUME ALL LIABILITY . THERE EITHER NEEDS A SWITCH OR SAY YOU SHOULD NOT INSTALL A CAR SEAT. CALLING GM I WAS TOLD TO PUT THE CHILD SEAT IN THE BACK. I HAVE ONLY ONE SEAT NO BACK SEAT. I ASKED IF I SHOULD INSTALL IT IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. THERE RESPONSE WAS PUT CAR SEAT IN THE BACK SEAT. I WOULD IF I HAD ONE!. I AM AFRAID TO CARRY MY GRANDDAUGHTER IN MY VEHICLE. I CALLED GM TODAY AND TOLD THEM OF THE SITUATION AND THEY STATED THAT THEY'RE AWARE OF THESE CRACKS HOWEVER THERE ISN'T A RECALL DUE TO IT NOT BEING A SAFETY ISSUE WHILE DRIVING. THE GM LADY ASKED ME HOW MANY MILES ARE ON MY TRUCK SO I TOLD HER IT ONLY HAS 29,204 MILES AND I'M THE ORIGINAL FIRST OWNER AND BOUGHT MY TRUCK BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER. SHE THEN STATED THAT THE TRUCK IS ALREADY OVER THE 36 MONTH / 36,000 MILE WARRANTY THEREFORE IT'S NOT COVERED FOR A FREE DASHBOARD REPLACEMENT. ODOMETER 35,590 MILES, TRUCK FLUID LEAKED AT THE REAR WHEEL AND THE BRAKES ON SIDE CAUGHT FIRE. FRONT BRAKES WERE AT 6MM AND REAR BRAKES WERE AT 1MM. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN CHANGED 8 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK (EVERY 7,000 - 12,000 MILES). METAL TO METAL WITH ROTORS BEING REPLACED.

THE STEERING ON THE PICKUP TRUCK STICKS, LOCKS UP FOR A MOMENT THEN FREES ITSELF. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ON AND OFF ISSUES SINCE BUT THE DEALERSHIP IS ALREADY TRYING TO GET OUT OF ANY RESPONSIBILITY ALREADY STATING THIS IS OUT OF WARRANTY AT THIS DATE. SALT LAKE VALLEY GMC HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE ISSUE SINCE DAY ONE. I OWN A 2013 GMC SIERRA 4WD CREW CAB THAT IS HAVING BRAKING PROBLEMS. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 05/29/2013 NEW FROM BILL SMITH BUICK-GMC INC. LOCATED IN CULLMAN, AL AS A NEW VEHICLE AND AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE IT HAD 7173 MILES ON IT AS STATED ON THE ODOMETER DISCLOSURE STATEMENT. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 41585 MILES ON IT THAT INDICATED I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE 36412 MILES. I HAVE HAD TWO INCIDENTS WITH THE BRAKES WHERE THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP WITH THE BRAKES FULLY APPLIED. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 15000 MILES ON IT. THE SECOND TIME OCCURRED THIS PAST THURSDAY, DECEMBER 18, 2014 WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AT 25 MPH AND THE CAR JUST CONTINUED TO ROLL UP HILL UNTIL I HIT A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE OLDER BUICK LASABER REAR END OR BUMPER BUT MY FRONT BUMPER WAS PUSHED IN ABOUT 2 INCHES. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE LEVEL OR WAS GOING ABOVE 25 MPH I SUSPECT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. WHAT?S HAPPENING IS WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED THE CAR STARTS TO SHUDDER AND SOUNDS LIKE YOUR BANGING ON A TIN CAN. WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE TRUCK IS NOT STOPPING OR SLOWING AT ALL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IS AS FAR DOWN AS IT CAN GO. PUMPING THE BRAKE WILL CAUSE THE BRAKES TO RECOVER AND THE VEHICLE WILL STOP. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN A CONSISTENT ISSUE. THIS LAST THURSDAY IS THE FIRST TIME I COULDN?T STOP IN 26000 MILES. BACK WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 15000 MILES ON IT THE SAME THING OCCURRED. I OWN A 2013 GMC SIERRAHD 2500 AND I AM EXPERIENCING POWER STEERING FAILURES. GMC IS REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY CANT FIND IT. GMC ALSO HAS NO PROBLEM PUTTING ME BACK ON THE ROAD IN A DANGEROUS UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT IS STILL UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. . THE FIRST EXPERIENCE WAS JUST PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT. AS I WAS TURNING, ALWAYS TO THE LEFT, INTO THE SPOT THE POWER STEERING FAILED. ALWAYS AFTER A LONG DRIVE THIS OCCURS, TO THE TUNE OF 5 PLUS HOURS. THE POWER LOSS REPEATED ITSELF TWO MORE TIMES THAT FIRST DAY. OCCURRING WHEN I WAS COMING TO A SLOW LEFT TURN UNDER 10 MPH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER A COUPLE DAYS LATER AND THEY COULDN'T REPEAT THE PROBLEM SO THEY REFUSED REPAIRS. THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED WAS A COUPLE DAYS AGO. THIS TIME IT BEGAN WITH SLOW LEFT TURNS IN A PARKING LOT OR ON DOWNRAMPS FROM HIGHWAYS. HOWEVER THE PROBLEM GAINED INTENSITY AS I THOUGHT I COULD FEEL IT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS, ALTHOUGH I DIREGUARDED THAT SINCE IT IS HARD TO TELL WHILE DRIVING 65 ON THE HIGHWAY. ONCE I REACHED MY LOCAL BACK, CURVY, MOUNTAIN ROADS, IT FAILED REPEATEDLY. ONE INSTANCE CAUSING ME TO VEER TO THE EDGE OF A SEVERE DROP OFF AND MY TIRES RUNNING OFF THE ROAD. THIS EASILY COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL MOMENT. AGAIN AFTER A LONG DRIVE, THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THEY INSPECTED EVERYTHING AND RESEARCHED THE ISSUE. GMC SAID THAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN HITTING THE BRAKES AT A SLOW SPEED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE HAS NOW OCCURRED WITHOUT BRAKING AND AT A NORMAL SPEED OF ABOUT 30 MPH. GMC REFUSED TO REPLACE ANYTHING AND WOULD NOT COMPENSATE THE DEALER IF THEY DID. THUS GMC PUT ME BACK ON THE ROAD IN A DANGEROUS VEHICLE. THEY SAID THIS WAS NORMAL AND WOULD HAPPEN FROM TIME TO TIME. DESPITE ALL THEIR EXCUSES, I HAD A CONTRADICTION FOR.I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT DIDN'T START TILL NOW AND WHY AM I THE ONLY ONE HAVING THE PROBLEM. *TR
INITIALLY I FELT THE PROBLEM AS A SLIGHT "MISSING" IN THE ENGINE UNDER VERY LIGHT ACCELERATION BETWEEN 40 MPH AND 55MPH AND MORE PRONOUNCED UNDER CONSTANT THROTTLE GOING UP GRADES ON THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF ~55 MPH (1400-1500 RPM). THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE "LUGGING", AND THEN THE RPM WOULD INCREASE BY ~20% IMMEDIATELY FOR A SHORT DISTANCE AND THEN DROP BACK (ALL AT CONSTANT THROTTLE) TO 1400-1500 RPM. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN CRUISE CONTROL AT 60 MPH AND GOING UP A GRADE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHOW SIGNS OF "STRAINING" AND IMMEDIATELY INCREASE IN THE RPM BY ABOUT 20% WITH AN ATTENDANT ACCELERATION. THEN THE RPM WOULD INCREASE INSTANTLY BY ABOUT 1000 RPM AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES RAPIDLY UNTIL I ENGAGE THE BRAKES. MY DEALER OBSERVED THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEM AND ON 07/25/2014 THEY INSTALLED A NEW TORQUE CONVERTER, WHICH PROVED TO HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT GMC TECHNICAL SERVICES INFORMED HIM OF A SERVICE BULLETIN (#PIP4681D: RANDOM BUMP CHUGGLE OR FISHBITE SENSATION WHILE CRUISING AT APPROXIMATELY 1,300 RPM- OCTOBER 31, 2013) THAT ADDRESSED THE PROBLEM, AND FURTHERMORE NO FURTHER CORRECTIVE ACTION COULD BE TAKEN. ON AUGUST 6,,2014 I WAS DRIVING AT CONSTANT SPEED OF 60 MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN "CRUISE CONTROL" AND MODERATE TRAFFIC. POWER STEERING GEAR BOX LEAKS OIL OUT OF FRONT ADJUSTMENT NUT SEAL. AFTER THREE REPLACEMENT GEAR BOXES IT STILL CONTINUALLY LEAKS. THE LAST ATTEMPTED FIX BY A GMC DEALER ENDED WITH POWER STEERING SPRAYING ALL OVER EVERYTHING UNDER HOOD INCLUDING EXHAUST WHICH IS A SIGNIFICANT FIRE HAZARD. HAD TO TAKE IT IN A THIRD TIME BECAUSE IT LEAKED AGAIN, SO THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE RACK AGAIN, COME TO FIND OUT, THE LAST TIME THEY HAD IT THEY REPLACED THE STEERING RACK AGAIN, SO THIS IS THE THIRD STEERING RACK THEY HAVE PUT ON A 2013 TRUCK, AND IT STILL LEAKS, THEY GAME ME A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT SAYS IT IS NORMAL FOR IT TO LEAK FROM THAT AREA AND IT GOES AWAY IN A FEW MONTHS, ALSO THE SERVICE BULLETIN SAYS A DRIP FROM THERE DOES NOT WARRANT A ACTIVE LEAK, I SAY A DRIP ON THE GROUND IS A ACTIVE LEAK. WHILE DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS, I SWERVED TO MISS AN ANIMAL, TOOK THE DITCH, HIT TWO TREES, SOME BOULDERS AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 47 MPH. THE ACCIDENT REPORT SHOWED DAMAGES TO EVERY PART OF THE TRUCK EXCEPT THE ROOF AND TAILGATE. WE HAD A GRILL GUARD INSTALLED AT A GMC DEALERSHIP UPON PURCHASE, AND HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THAT GUARD, THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE BEEN IN OUR LAPS. THE TRUCK SUSTAINED 20,000 DOLLARS IN DAMAGES, YET ALL GM HAD TO SAY WAS THAT THE AIRBAGS OPERATED AS DESIGNED. I SAY THAT THE DESIGN IS FATALLY FLAWED IF A CRASH OF THIS MAGNITUDE DOES NOT CAUSE THIS VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE TO OPERATE. MY TRANSMISSION SLIPS BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR AT LEAST 4 TIMES A MONTH. MICE, RABBITS ETC. CHEWED THROUGH WIRES BECAUSE GMC PUTS PEANUT OIL ON THEIR WIRES. GMC DEALER SAID THEY WOULD FIX WIRES BUT THE PROBLEM WILL PERSIST BECAUSE PEANUT OIL IS BAIT FOR THESE ANIMALS. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT WAS REPORTED ON A 2012 VEHICLE. THIS COULD CAUSE FIRES ETC AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THE VEHICLE WASN'T RUNNING RIGHT, ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND CHEWED WIRES WERE DISCOVERED. WERE TOLD BY GMC DEALER THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX BECAUSE THEY USE PEANUT OIL BECAUSE ITS CHEAP! WE'VE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE SINCE SEPTEMBER 2013. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND BECAME INVOLVED IN A SIX VEHICLE CRASH. THE CONTACT'S AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY ON IMPACT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT END, RIGHT QUARTER PANEL AND THE REAR BUMPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,010.
TRUCK IS LEAKING OIL, AND I HAVE A SMALL PUDDLE OH GARAGE FLOOR. BROUGHT TO ORIGINAL SELLING DEALER TO BE CHECKED. THEY CLAIMED THERE WAS A PLUG ON BACK OF ENGINE THAT WAS LEAKING. THEY HAD VEHICLE FOR 3 1/2 DAYS, AND CLAIMED IT WAS FIXED. THEY HAD OVER 1 PAGE OF SEALS, GASKETS, PLUG WERE REPLACED. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES, AND IT STARTED LEAKING EXACTLY THE SAME AS BEFORE. RETURNED TO DEALER AGAIN, AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT IT WAS NORMAL TO SEE IT HAVING A LEAK DUE TO THE SILICONE THAT WAS USED ON ENGINE PARTS WHEN IT WAS BUILT !!! I WAS ADVISED TO DRIVE IT FOR 1 WEEK AND BRING IT BACK AGAIN. AT THAT POINT IN TIME, I CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD TO GET A SECOND OPINION AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I BROUGHT IT TO THEM ON 11/15/13. IT HAS BEEN THERE NOW FOR 6 DAYS. I WAS JUST TOLD THAT THEY HAVE 4 PAGES OF NEW PARTS THAT HAVE TO BE ORDERED TO REPAIR IT. THEY (DEALERSHIP) REQUESTED THAT GM REPLACE THE ENGINE AND WAS DENIED. CONSIDERING THIS IS THE 3RD TIME TRYING TO REPAIR THE SAME PROBLEM, THEY SHOULD EITHER RE-PURCHASE OR LEMON LAW THIS. *TR
AT THIS OCCURRENCE THE HOOD LATCH DOES NOT KEEP THE HOOD TIGHT WHEN CLOSED. THE HOOD RATTLES AT SPEEDS OVER 35MPH AND APPEARS AS THOUGH IT IS GOING TO OPEN. AS A RESULT OF ATTEMPTING TO SUFFICIENTLY SECURING THE HOOD, I SUBSEQUENTLY DENTED THE HOOD. I HAVE HAD THE BODY DEPARTMENT AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP LOOK AT IT AND THEY FOUND THAT THE HOOD LATCH NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED. AFTER ANOTHER 2500 MILES, THIS RATTLE HAS RETURNED. THE COMPLAINT IS THAT THIS IS THE SECOND 2013 SIERRA DENALI THAT I HAVE OWNED SINCE OCTOBER 2012, SINCE THE DEALERSHIP BOUGHT BACK THE FIRST ONE AFTER NUMEROUS PROBLEMS INCLUDING THE TRANSMISSION BEING REPLACED AT 6250 MILES AND NUMEROUS EFFORTS TO FIX THE HOOD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK AND SHIFT IN BETWEEN GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED NOR WAS THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
THE HEAD RESTS OF OUR NEW TRUCK (PURCHASED DEC 2012) PROJECT SO FAR FORWARD THAT IT FORCES MY HEAD TO TILT DOWNWARD. THERE IS NO FORWARD/BACK ADJUSTMENT TO THE HEAD REST, AND TURNING THE HEAD REST BACKWARDS TO MAKE IT BEARABLE MEANS IT NO LONGER WILL SERVE WELL TO PREVENT NECK INJURIES IN A CRASH. FOR SHORTER DRIVES, THE FORCED HEAD TILT IS UNCOMFORTABLE, BUT FOR LONGER DRIVES IT CAUSES ENOUGH PAIN THAT I HAD TO SEE A CHIROPRACTOR (AND I'M AN ATHLETIC, HEALTHY PERSON!). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER CONTEND IT WORKS AS DESIGNED FOR SAFETY IN A CRASH. BUT IF I CAN'T SIT IN IT FOR NORMAL DRIVING WITHOUT EXPERIENCING NECK/BACK PAIN, HOW "SAFE" IS THAT? I NOTICED THE NEW 2014 GMC 1/2-TON PICKUPS HAVE A HEAD REST WITH A NOTICEABLY LESS ANGULAR DESIGN, INDICATING GMC RECOGNIZED THE HEAD REST DESIGN IN MY 2013 3/4-TON TRUCK IS, AT BEST, A POOR ONE AND, AT WORST, A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ONE. I CALLED GMC AND NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM SO I WILL WAIT FOR THREE MORE INSTANCES AND WITH DRIVING A LOANER CAR FOR UP TO 3-WEEKS AT A TIME AND WILL INVOLVE THE LEMON LAW FOR DEFECTS WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD SLOSHING NOISE OF FUEL COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK.
