THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

I WAS DRIVING MY 1995 RV WITH A FORD E350 CHASSIS ON THE FREEWAY IN LAS VEGAS APPROXIMATELY FIVE MILES FROM HOME WHEN I NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION. I TRAVELED ANOTHER FIVE MILES AND THE REAR LEFT OUTSIDE TIRE LOST IT'S TREAD AND BLEW OUT RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL WELL AND DUMP HOSE STORAGE. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 110 DEGREES. MY SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WERE DELTA ESSENTIAL LT225/75 R16 AND WERE PURCHASED IN 2013. THEY HAVE BEEN DRIVEN 10,000 MILES AND VISUALLY APPEAR TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE AIR PRESSURE IS CHECKED REGULARLY. THE MATED TIRE WAS CHECKED AND THE PRESSURE WAS AT THE RECOMMENDED 60 PSI.

THE FILLER NECK LEAKS GAS AT THE RUBBER HOSE. EVERY TIME YOU ADD GAS, DOES NOT HAVE TO BE FULL TANK. WE WERE GIVEN THIS VEHICLE WITH THE LEAK. CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE FIXED BY MECHANIC, WE HAVE A HOSE CLAMP AROUND THE RUBBER TO HOLD IT ON. THE ACTUAL METAL FILLER SECTION IN ROTTEN RUSTED AWAY. ON AUGUST 4, 2010, MY 22 YEAR OLD SON WAS A PASSENGER IN A FORD ECONOLINE E 250 VAN ON HIS WAY TO WORK, WHEN THE DRIVER SOME HOW LOST CONTROL, HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND WAS EJECTED ALONG WITH MY SON! THE DRIVER WENT OUT FIRST AND TOOK THE WORST OF THE IMPACT. HOWEVER, HE IS STILL ALIVE WITH MASSIVE INJURIES. MY SON WAS THROWN OUT SECOND ACROSS THE HWY AND DIED FROM BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA TO HIS HEAD AND TORSO. THE 3RD PASSENGER WAS REMOVED WITH THE JAWS OF LIFE. MY SON NOR THE DRIVER WERE WEARING SEAT BELTS FROM WHAT I'VE BEEN TOLD. HOWEVER, I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT MAY NOT HAVE MATTERED DUE TO THE IMPACT. THE 3RD PERSON WAS IN THE BACK AND A SEAT BELT WAS NOT AVAILABLE, HE WAS SITTING ON A "MAKE SHIFT" TYPE SEAT(?) MY QUESTION IS...WHY DID THIS VAN SUSTAIN THIS MUCH MASSIVE DAMAGE FROM A ONE VEHICLE CRASH? HOW DID THE "CRASH DUMMIES" SURVIVE? ALTHOUGH, IT IS AN OLDER MODEL,(1995) THERE'S SEEMS TO BE NO REASON WHY THIS AMOUNT OF DAMAGE RESULTED FROM A ONE VEHICLE ACCIDENT. FROM WHAT I KNOW SO FAR, ROAD CONDITIONS NOR EXCESSIVE SPEED WERE AN ISSUE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW THIS PARTICULAR VAN DID IN FRONT IMPACT COLLISION TESTING. 1995 FORD E150 BASED CONVERSION VAN HAS HAD THE BRAKING SYSTEMS/ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN 83000 MILES. BOTH REPLACEMENTS WERE DONE AT FORD DEALERS AND COPIES OF BOTH INVOICES CAN BE PROVIDED. SINCE THIS FAILURE DISABLES THE ABS SYSTEM AND PRODUCES A HOPPING IN THE REAR WHEELS I THINK THIS IS A HAZARD THAT NEED TO BE LOOKED INTO. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN EITHER RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FIRE. THE RECALL NUMBERS WERE UNKNOWN. CALLED IN OCTOBER, TOLD DECEMBER. CALLED IN FEBRUARY, NOW TOLD APRIL. I AM TRYING TO ESCALATE WITH FORD, BUT ANY ANSWERS FROM THEM ARE NOT CREDIBLE, AS THEY NOW HAVE A HISTORY OF GIVING DATES IN THE FUTURE SO I "GO AWAY" FOR NOW. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE COMING DOWN A RAMP AND APPROACHING THE STOP SIGN AT 45MPH, THE ENGINE MADE A LOUD NOISE. THE NOISE APPEARED TO COME FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DISPLAYED THAT IT WAS GOING TO STALL AND THEN STALLED. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TIMING GEAR WAS FRACTURED. THE SERVICE DEALER REPLACED THE TIMING GEAR. SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIR, THE LOUD NOISE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND RECOMMENDED THAT A NEW CAMSHAFT BEARING BE INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED.

AT APPROXIMATELY 11:45 PM ON 03 FEB 2006 WE DROVE OUR 1995 FORD E150 CLUB WAGON ON A LOCAL ERRAND AMOUNTING TO 6-8 CITY BLOCKS. PRIOR TO THIS ERRAND THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING "COLD" IN OUR CARPORT FOR MANY HOURS. UPON OUR RETURN FROM THE ERRAND (20 MINUTES), AT APPROX. 12:05 AM ON 04 FEB 2006, WE PARKED THE VEHICLE IN OUR CARPORT AND PRIOR TO TURNING OFF THE IGNITION, SMOKE APPEARED FROM BENEATH THE HOOD AND BEGAN TO FILL THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, WE NOTED FLAMES BENEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. A SMALL CHEMICAL FIRE EXTINGUISHER WAS APPLIED, BUT DID NOT STIFLE THE FIRE. THE VAN WAS A TOTAL LOSS TO THE FIRE, AND "MAJOR" PROPERTY DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED BY A NEIGHBOR'S VEHICLE PARKED TO OUR IMMEDIATE LEFT AND THE CARPORT STRUCTURE ITSELF (WOOD AND CORRUGATED STEEL). ANOTHER VEHICLE ALSO SUSTAINED "MINOR" DAMAGE. POLICE AND FIRE DEPT. REPORTS HAVE BEEN FILED. THE CAUSE FROM THESE OFFICIAL SOURCES IS "UNDETERMINED". OUR RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT THERE ARE CURRENT ISSUES WITH FORD VEHICLE FIRES THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. 1995 ECONOLINE IS A MODEL CONTAINING THIS (OR A SIMILAR) SWITCH. *NM
ORIGINALLY IN DEC 2004 WHILE RETURNING FROM A TRIP TO ST LOUIS, MO I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY ABS LIGHT, MY SPEEDOMETER HAND INTERMITTENTLY GOING BACK TO ZERO AND THE VEHICLE COMING OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL. IT WAS ORIGINALLY THOUGHT TO BE AN ABS BRAKE PROBLEM SO THE SPEED SENSOR AND THE ABS MODULE WERE REPLACED. THE NEXT TIME I WENT OUT ON THE ROAD FOR THE 4TH OF JULY 2005 WEEKEND, WE GOT AS FAR AS CHARLESTON, SC AND HAD TO PUT THE RV IN THE SHOP BECAUSE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SPEEDOMETER WERE BOTH MALFUNCTIONING; THE VEHICLE WOULD COME OUT OF CRUISE AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD INTERMITTENTLY GO FROM THE CORRECT SPEED TO ZERO. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO BE DOWNSHIFTING AND UPSHIFTING AT WILL. AFTER THAT WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE HOUSE AND PARKED IT ON THE DRIVEWAY. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER I WENT OUT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AND GIVE IT A WASH JOB AND CLEAN IT UP A BIT. IT WOULD NOT START UPON EXAMINATION I FOUND THAT THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX HAD SOME MELTED RELAYS IN IT AND THE BOX ITSELF WAS MELTED MIN A COUPLE OF PLACES. WE HAD TO HAVE A DIFFERENT WIRING HARNESS INSTALLED TO GET THE VEHICLE RUNNING AGAIN. WE FELT THAT SOME OF THE GROUND WIRES HAD CAUSED A SHORT AND THAT WAS WHAT HAD MELTED THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX. LATER WE SAW THAT THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX IS LOCATED JUST BELOW THE RESERVOIR FOR THE VEHICLE BRAKE FLUID. THE LAST ITEM THAT BECAME FUNCTIONAL WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE FUSE FOR THE HORN WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX. THE FUEL OVERFLOW HOSE FORD PART # F7U79170AA HAS ROTTED AND CRACKED APPROXIMATELY 1.5'' LONG JUST ABOVE THE CLAMP THAT SECURES IT TO THE FUEL TANK. AFTER REFUELING, THE GAS FUMES ARE QUITE STRONG AND WOULD LEAVE A PUDDLE OF FUEL UNDER VEHICLE. WOULD ALSO LOOSE FUEL WHEN DRIVING WHEN TANK WAS OVER 3/4 FULL. FUEL WOULD DRIP DOWN FROM ALL SIDES OF FUEL TANK. THE POSSIBILITY OF FUEL BLOWING BACK ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST AND BRAKES IS EXTREMELY HIGH. VEHICLE FIRE- I WAS ASLEEP AT 5:00 A.M.,WHEN I WAS AWAKENED BY A LOUD POP OR BANG. I THOUGHT THERE WAS A CAR WRECK IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE. THE FIRE WAS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE. THE VAN HAD BEEN PARKED FOR ABOUT 11 HOURS. THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING ABOUT 1 OR 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE FIRE. STATE FARM TOTALED THE VAN. WHEN VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 30,000 MILES AND DURING A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE VISIT TO THIS DEALER, THE DEALER WITHOUT MY PROMPTING REPLACED THE RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING UNDER WARRANTY. IT'S OBVIOUS TO ME THAT FORD KNEW IT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SPRINGS SEVERAL YEARS AGO.
TOMS RIVER SCHOOLS VEHICLE MAINT. DEPT MAINTAINS 17 FORD E-350 MINI SCHOOL BUSES, 1995 AND 1998 MODEL YEARS. THIS BRAKE HOSE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A RUSTED PORTION OF THE HOSE ASSEMBLY . THE AREA THAT RUSTED AWAY IS THE CRIMPED CONNECTION WHICH JOINS THE RUBBER HOSE TO THE STEEL FITTING END OF THE HOSE ASSEMBLY. THIS RUST IS NOT VISIBLE WHILE DOING A ROUTINE INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT IS COVERED BY A RUBBER SLEEVE!. APPARANTLY WATER/MOISTURE IS COLLECTING UNDER THIS RUBBER SLEEVE AND CORRODING THE STEEL CRIMPED AREA OF THE FITTING UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE OF A SECURE CONNECTION OF THE RUBBER HOSE TO THE STEEL , THEN WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND THE FLUID IS PRESSURIZED IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM THE RUBBER HOSE WILL BLOW AWAY FROM THE STEEL FITTING!...I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AS IT IS SUDDEN BRAKE LOSS, MULTIPLIED BY THE FACT THAT A ROUTINE PREVETIVE MAINTENANCE CHECK OF THE BRAKE HOSES DOES NOT REVEAL THE RUSTED/FAULTY CONNECTION BECAUSE OF THE RUBBER SLEEVE COVERING IT.

TOOK AN EXTENDED TRIP (CALIFORNIA TO MISSOURI) AND EXPERIENCED A TREAD SEPARATION BLOW-OUT ON ONE OF THE REMAINING TRAILHANDLERS FROM THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE. MILES AT THAT TIME: APPROX 54000. THE BLOW-OUT OCCURRED ON INTERSTATE AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A LEFT REAR TIRE. THE CAR HAD BEGUN TO RIDE ROUGH SHORTLY BEFORE THE BLOW-OUT, SO I SLOWED DOWN AND POSITIONED MYSELF TO GET OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT, PROBABLY PREVENTING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE A 1995 FORD E-150 SHERARD HI-TOP CONVERSION VAN AND JUST EXPERIENCED A SEVERE FUEL LEAK. I'M CURIOUS IF THE VEHICLE HAS EVER BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS. THE FUEL LEAK WAS ON THE VENT LINE TO THE FILL TUBE. THE VENT LINE IS ABOUT A 3/4 INCH HOSE WITH HOSE CLAMPS. ONE END OF THE HOSE ATTACHED TO A METAL TUBE NEAR THE TOP OF THE FILL TUBE AND THE OTHER IS NEXT TO THE FILL TUBE WHERE BOTH ENTER THE FUEL TANK. THE VENT HOSE DEVELOPED A MAJOR BREAK NEAR THE TANK. UPON REMOVE OF THE HOSE I FOUND THAT THE HOSE CLAMP IS BONDED TO THE HOSE AT THIS LOCATION (THE OTHER WAS NOT). I'M A MECHANICAL ENGINEER AND IT LOOKS TO ME THAT THE BONDING PROCESS OF THE CLAMP TO THE HOSE HAS DETERIORATED THE TUBE AND SHORTENED THE LIFE OF THE HOSE. THE OTHER END OF THE HOSE THAT ATTACHED TO THE FILL TUBE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO SIGNS OF PROBLEMS. THE CLAMP WAS STAMPED WITH SOME MARKINGS INDICATING CANADA AND ALSO HAS SOME PATENT NUMBERS ON IT. I'M GUESSING THAT THEY ATTEMPTED TO BOND THE CLAMP TO THE HOSE IN THIS AREA BECAUSE IT IS A VERY TIGHT AREA TO ACCESS FOR MAINTENANCE. ALL 4 TIRES HAD PIECES OF THE TREAD PATTERN MISSING. THERE WERE CRACKS IN THE TIRE IN THE GROOVES BETWEEN THE PIECES OF TREAD. I HAD SEARS REPLACE THE TIRES BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENED. I WAS DISSATISFIED WITH SEARS. THEY ONLY GAVE ME 54.5% FOR THE TIRES. I FELT THAT THE TIRES HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THEM AND WERE DEFECTIVE AND THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED FOR FREE. THEIR ATTITUDE WAS WE GAVE YOU SOMETHING SHUT UP AND GO AWAY. WHEN I ASKED FOR THE TIRES BACK THE SALESMAN FIRST SAID THAT I COULD HAVE THEM THEN HE BACKED UP AND SAID THAT THE TIRES WOULD BE SENT BACK TO THE MANUFACTOR.
