Purchased 2 Cooper Endeavor tires July 2022 from a highly popular national retailer, 225/60-R16. The tires were installed professionally by a Ford Dealership. The first of the 2 tires developed a hazardous outer sidewall "egg" within a few weeks of installation (under 1k mi). Having no visible or known damage it was reluctantly replaced by the tire retailer under their provided Road Hazard warranty. Rolling forward to present, following documented tire rotation schedule and documented monthly tire pressure checks, the 2nd Cooper Endeavor "60k mi marketed tire" developed a hazardous outer sidewall egg 29 mo later with only 21.6k mi. driven. The new tire tread depth was 10.5/32 in. and remaining tread depth is 7/32 in. at it's greatest wear area. This 2nd sidewall egg tire was removed by a reputable tire dealership and inspected showing no visible damage to the inner or outer sidewall, tire tread or the rim bead.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD CROWN VICTORIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ORIGINAL WINDSHIELD HAD SOME CRACKS AND CHIPS, SO HE DECIDED TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD IMPAIRED HIS VISION WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE HE COULD NOT SEE THE ROAD CLEARLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD HAD A FOGGY, HAZY SMOKE SCREEN AND WAS NOT CLEAR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE WINDSHIELD WAS PURCHASED; HOWEVER, NO DEFECT WAS NOTICED. THE MECHANIC OFFERED TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD, BUT STATED THAT IT WOULD BE NO DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE THAT WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD TO HIM. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THESE PARTICULAR FUYAO WINDSHIELDS (PRODUCT NUMBER: AS1M848 DOT-459 SOLAR TINT DW1506). THE CONTACT DROVE TO THE DISTRIBUTION WAREHOUSE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDSHIELDS WERE NOT FACTORY REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS, BUT WERE AFTERMARKET WINDSHIELDS. THE FORD MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THAT THE CONTACT'S WINDSHIELD WAS NOT A FACTORY AUTHORIZED WINDSHIELD REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT HAD THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD FOR THREE WEEKS AND HAD VISIBILITY ISSUES EACH TIME WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

LARGE FORD DEALERSHIP 35 MILES AWAY WOULD NOT SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT DUE TO CAR BEING AN OLDER MODEL. IF PROBLEMS ARE NOT FOUND, AN ACCIDENT IS WAITING TO HAPPEN! I WAS OPERATING MY VEHICLE ON ROUTE 10 IN PRINCE GEORGE COUNTY. THERE IS NO LIGHT ON THIS ROAD. I WAS HAVING A DIFFICULT SEEING. THE HIGH BEAM SEEMED TO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD SUFFICIENTLY. THE LOW BEAMS WERE GOOD FOR CLOSE UP BUT NOT FAR AWAY. I PULLED THE HIGH BEAM SWITCH BACK TO HIGH BEAM (FLASH HIGH) AND HELD IT SO I COULD SEE BETTER. AS I WAS GOING THROUGH AN "S" CURVE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THE CAR SHUT DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY LET GO OF THE CONTROL AND HIT THE BRAKES. I LOST ALL POWER TO THE CAR. I CAN'T REMEMBER IF THE MOTOR CUT OFF OR NOT. I ALMOST WRECKED THE CAR. AFTER A SECOND OR TWO POWER CAME BACK ON. I WAS IN THE ONCOMING LANE OF TRAFFIC WITH NO LIGHTS AND THEN THEY CAME BACK ON. MY TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN HOURS, AND THE LAST TIME THAT IT WAS DRIVEN, IT WAS TO THE STORE ON THE CORNER. SMELLED SMOKE AFTER IGNITION. FOUND ELECTRICAL FIRE AFTER OPENING UP THE HOOD AT A SERVICE STATION. THE ATTENDANT QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. TOWED THE CAR TO PREMIER FORD. OUR INSURANCE ADJUSTER FROM TSC DIRECT INSPECTED MY VEHICLE. HIS REPORT WAS THAT THERE OIL DRIPPING FROM A DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDER THAT CAUSED THE WIRING TO HEAT UP. THUS, CAUSING THE FIRE. WE THINK THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD WARRANT A RECALL. HOWEVER, THEY DENY THE CLAIM BECAUSE WE ARE OVER THE 3-YEAR WARRANTY. A PASSERBY MENTIONED THE RECALL (WE HAD ONLY JUST RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL) AND AFTER REMEMBERING THE CONTENTS OF THE LETTER WE RECEIVED DID WE REALIZE THIS FAULTY PART WAS THE CAUSE. A LOCAL SERVICE GARAGE IN GAITHERSBURG, MD TESTED THE SYSTEM AND DETERMINED THAT THE BLOWER CONTROL MODULE HAD MALFUNCTIONED. IT HAS, OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT 5 MONTHS, PEELED BACK FAR ENOUGH THAT IT OBSTRUCTS THE VIEW OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDSHIELD DEFROST VENT TRIM NO LONGER FITS INTO PLACE. THE DEFROSTER NO LONGER WORKS PROPERLY, AS THE VINYL NOW OBSTRUCTS THE AIR FLOW. THE VINYL IS ALSO IN SUCH A POSITION AS TO POTENTIALLY IMPEDE THE FUNCTION OF THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE DASH, FORD WILL NOT COVER THE FULL COST OF THE REPLACEMENT ($1200). THE DASH ON A 4 YEAR CAR SHOULD NOT WARP SO BADLY IT LOOKS LIKE A PRINGLES CHIP. AT 38,938 MILES, THE CAR NEEDED A NEW IDLE SPEED CONTROL MOTOR, AIR FILTER, AND MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. I BELIEVE THAT THESE PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND WROTE A LETTER TO WILLIAM CLAY FORD, THE CHAIRMAN OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY. WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THE OVERDRIVE SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. SINCE THE EARLY 1960'S , I HAVE BEEN VERY AWARE OF MANY FORD PRODUCTS THAT THE BRAKE/SYOP LIGHTS FAIL TO ACTIVATE WHEN THE VEHICLE S BRAKES ARE APPLIED TO STOP OR SLOW THE VEHICLE. I HAVE DRIVEN FOR A LIVING SINCE THE EARLY 60'S AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS TODAY ON MANY FORD PRODUCTS THE SAME AS IT ALWAYS HAS. I HAVE PERSONALLY STOPPED AND TOLD MANY OF THOSE DRIVERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO PREVENT THEM FROM BEING REAR-ENDED DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEHIND THEM NOT BEING ALERTED TO THE FACT THAT THEY ARE SLOWING/STOPPING. AT ONE TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH LOCATET UNDER THE DASH THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE THE BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PUSHED. I DO NOT KNOW IF ANY CORRECTIONS WERE EVER MADE TO THAT PROBLEM BUT AS RECENTLY AS THIS WEEK I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING A FORD THAT DID NOT HAVE WORKING BRAKE LIGHTS WHEN IT STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. I AM RETIRED FROM THE BELL SYSTEM AND AS A REQUREMENT TO OPERATE A COMPANY MOTOR VEHICLE WE WERE GIVEN TRAINING ANNUALLY CALLED SMITH SYSTEM DEFENSIVE DRIVER TRAINING AND ALONG WITH ALL THE EXCELLENT SKILLS WE WERE TAUGHT WE WERE ALSO TOLD TO NOT FOLLOW A FORD WHENEVER POSSIBLE FOR THE OBVIOUS REASONS JUST STATED. NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THE PROBLEM . THE FIRST PERSON NAMED TOM SAID THAT I HIT A CURB THE PERSON AT THE NEXT DEALER LOCATION SAID HE WOULD REPLACE THE TIRE AND THAT SOMETHING WAS PROBABLY WRONG INSIDE . THE SIDEWALL HAD A LARGE BUBBLE AND APPEAR AND IT GREW FROM THE THREAD TO THE RIM AT THE TIME THER WAS ONLY 9500 MILES ON THE TRUCK . THIS TRUCK IS DRIVEN BY VERY FEW PEOPLE . MY ESTIMATE OF MILEAGE PUT ON FROM OTHERS DRIVING THIS TRUCK IS AROUND 500 MILES THE REST ARE MINE. I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR A TIRE THAT HAS 90% MORE WEAR LEFT . THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH WITH THE TIRE AND EVEN THOUGH THEY WORKED WITH ME A PROBLEM DOES EXIST AND THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO .
