We bought our van new in 2019. It has always made a grinding noise when making hard turns. The dealer said it was normal. Flash forward to a few weeks ago when we hit 105k miles. We started noticing more grinding noises and sensations when turning the wheel. Additionally, we noticed a tugging sensation on the wheel when going over 60 mph. It felt like the lane assist was turned on, but it wasn’t. We took our van to our trusted auto repair garage. They did a series of tests which included isolating the sound of clicking and grinding to the electronic steering gear. We were told that this part would cost $5400 to replace. We believe that this part is going bad too early in the life of our van and would like the NHTSA to investigate.

Electrical power steering assistance system. The steering wheel starts becoming difficult to smoothly turn in corners over 30-miles per hour. Steering wheel required excessive force to overcome the resistance caused by the steering system (almost like having a non-power system steering system in turns). No issues on straight roadways. No warning lamps light. Getting worse (only used for local travel). It requires a physical effort to turn the steering to remain on track within a curve. It has yet to be confirmed by a dealer: Williamsburg Chrysler sold me this vehicle 3-months ago as perfect (but as-is). If YOU suggest a dealership trustworthy enough to evaluate the system I will go there, otherwise I know of no dealership in my area who knows (or cares) to troubleshoot issues that are not so obvious parts are not falling off. NOTE: I noticed a Safety Recall V53/NHTSA 19V-348 Power Steering Assist exists but not specified for my 2019 Pacifica. The description is exactly what I'm referring to.

A slow coolant leak is draining the coolant from the reservoir into the engine. This has happened twice now and no external leaks can be found. The first instance in June 2021 was on a trip from Goldsboro, NC to Antigo, WI. We made it to Chicago and noticed the engine temp climbing. We thought it was due to the trip and heat but had just stopped in Ohio the day prior. We took the vehicle to a local shop and they told us the coolant was nearly gone. The second time happened just [XXX] when I took my Pacifica in for an oil change. The shop stated my coolant was very low and they had to fill it up. They again found no visible external leak. I had noticed that it was low as well the day prior after getting home and knowing the shop is less than 2 miles away I knew I could get the van there safely. I did notice the temperature going up quickly even though it has been bitterly cold the last few days. I've been doing research and found many Pacifica and other online forums stating this issue had led to engine failures totaling repair costs in excess of $5,000 as of 2023 before continued inflation. This poses a huge safety risk for motorists if the engine fails while in transit as well as during extreme weather both cold and hot. Please hold the manufacturer accountable to fix this common defect for those of us who cannot afford a new vehicle. Steering wheel sticks when attempting to return to straight position after a curve. Usually occurs when turning right but sometimes left. Only occurs at highway speeds, not on city streets. Chrysler dealer inspected vehicle, said no problem was found, recommended having tire alignment checked. Front tires did not need alignment but rear tires did and were aligned. Unfortunately, this did not correct the problem. This appears to be the same steering problem reported to affect 2017 and 2018 Pacifica per NHTSA investigation. Note: incident date, below, is date problem was first noticed. Problem is ongoing.

My care had issue and showing message on dashboard for "service shifter" and was diagnosed by the Ferman Dealership on US 19, New Port Richey, FL. After dealership fixed the issue, Paid around $800, I picked up the car and drove around and took on freeway, after sometimes I got the message of service shifter again on dashboard and steering became hard and other function were stopped working. It felt like car was driving by itself as it would go up in speed even when i did not have my foot on it. Even after hitting the break it would stop but then again it would go up in speed by itself. I parked my car and waited after 15 to 20 min then started driving normally. I had to drop the car back to the dealership and explained the whole situation. They looked at it again and fixed the issue. After picking it up 2nd time i noticed i had issue with my screen. It started acting on its own like it was a ghost touch screen. It would jump to other setting while listening to music or have my navigation on, it would stop. Also, when backing up the care i noticed my back camera went blank, I could not see anything. Also, other time other cameras went blank. Like a black spot where you can't see anything. Called the dealership again and explained them. They told me to do the resent which i could not able to do it so went to dealership and they did reset the screen but after sometimes on the same day it started acting up again. I dropped the car again and told them to look into it. They did reset it again and told me that due to sun exposure screen has bubbles inside. I have this car since 5 years and did not have this problemThis issue i didn't have it before service shifter message popped up. Now they said there will be additional cost to replace the screen which cost around $1700. This is something that dealership needs to cover since issue started after fixing service shifter problem. And this is a safety issue as when i back up i can't see anything and screen acting on its own.

We bought our brand-new Chrysler van in 2019. On [XXX] the oil filter housing needed to be replaced due to cheap manufacturing parts. It cost us $918.78. In October of 2025, we were experiencing some shaking in our van. Upon investigation, it was diagnosed with a blown head gasket. The repair was estimated at $3000 - $4000. The mileage on our van was a little over 93,000 miles. We were meticulous with the maintenance of our van. This, according to Chrysler Pacifica owner online forums, is not uncommon. Four times in the last two weeks when I get in the car and crank it, it will not go into drive or the shifter does not work at all. I’m having multiple errors on saying service shifter and service electrical battery that had never occurred before the system recall update. I’ve been stranded multiple times in the last two weeks. It must be related to the recall update that was done in my car. It cannot be a sheer coincidence that I never had issues until the update. The service department is not helpful in anyway and returns my car with no answer. Simple google research shows this is a recurring issue after the update.

Internal failure of the electronic shifter assembly. Essentially the shifter would lock into place in undesired gear-for example-attempt to move into D, would move to R and lock up so the only way we could get it to stop moving/into desired gear was to immediately power off (even though not in P) and try again on restart (which is very scary thinking your car may reverse or move foward w/no ability to stop it). This occurred on multiple occasions prior to bring to dealer, when children present in the car, and did not consistently occur every ignition. Currently vehicle is at Cornerstone Ford/Chrysler/GMC in Elk River and they have ordered the part (Nationwide backorder), estimated stock date w/in 7d but suspect seeing nationwide shortage-is this shortage due to many vehicles needing replacement-that alone would make me suspect need for safety recall! After safety recall 72B was performed on my 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid on 7/17/25, the vehicle's check engine light illuminated and it began experiencing charging failures. I've never experienced these issues prior to the recall being performed and the vehicle returned to me. The component that has failed is the high-voltage (HV) battery pack and its control system. Diagnostic scans performed by a Chrysler dealer on 7/29/25 confirmed trouble codes, which indicate a critical fault within the battery system. The HV battery is available for inspection upon request. My safety and the safety of others are at risk because the recall was issued to prevent a battery fire. The symptoms my vehicle is exhibiting are precisely the kinds of faults the recall's software update is supposed to detect. The first warning signs, including the check engine light, appeared within days of the recall service. This strongly indicates the recall procedure, specifically the mandatory battery integrity test, was not completed correctly by the dealership. This is a widespread issue, with numerous owners reporting the same post-recall failures online and to Chrysler Cares customer service. Chrysler is not taking this failed recall seriously and are forcing owners to pay for their own rental vehicles while they investigate the "undriveable" vans post-recall completion.

Vehicle Incident Summary – 2019 Chrysler Pacifica [XXX] is the orginal owner Initial Incident – [XXX] At 50,779 miles, my 2022 Chrysler Pacifica lost all power while driving on Mound Road in Sterling Heights, MI. Officer Nathan Sears from the Sterling Heights Police Department assisted, and the vehicle had to be towed. The diagnosis at the time was complete battery failure—both batteries were replaced. Current Ongoing Issue – [XXX] At 86,000 miles, the vehicle once again became completely inoperable. It was towed to Jim Riehl’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Warren, MI. I was initially told the issue was the starter, and I paid $1,200 for the repair. However, the vehicle still does not start. I have now been told the issue may be a blown head gasket or engine failure. The dealership is requesting an additional $2,000–$3,000 just to disassemble the vehicle to determine the exact cause. If it is indeed an engine failure, I’ve been informed that repairs could cost up to $12,000. Concerns: I paid for a starter replacement and the car remains undrivable. There was no resolution or refund offered despite a misdiagnosis. Now I am being asked to pay thousands more just to identify the problem. If this is engine failure, it occurred at only 86,000 miles. I have since found many other Pacifica owners reporting similar failures—battery, engine, and complete loss of power—raising concerns of a potential manufacturing defect. Why I’m Reporting This: This vehicle has experienced major, potentially dangerous failures twice—first a complete power loss while driving, and now possible engine failure without warning. If this had happened at higher speeds or on the highway, it could have been catastrophic. I am requesting this issue be investigated for possible safety defects and design flaws. The brake pedal felt spongy and did not engage without me pumping the brakes at a traffic light. I had to quickly change lanes to get the brakes to engage. Otherwise I would have crashed into the vehicle in front of me. Also sometimes when sitting at a traffic light the brake pedal pulls away at random as if it is disengaging which cause the car to roll forward. I have to again pump the brake pedal. This issue has occurred 2-3 times so far. I took the van to two different auto repair shops. One shop said it’s the Brake booster. I got a second opinion at another mechanic shop and he did not find a problem with the car and could not recreate the problem. The second mechanic indicated it is most likely a Chrysler specific problem and the car should be taken back to the dealer. As the car needs to stop when the brakes are depressed as it could cause an auto accident. I was advised to check to see if there is already a recall relating to the ABS brakes system for the Chrysler Pacifica. I also mentioned the Electronic Stability Control Service light is coming on the dashboard display at times.

Our pacifica has repeatedly stalled on freeways. The engine will just stop running and will not start for 15 minutes to several hours. If it does start, it often will sputter and stall again if you try to put it in ear or press the accelerator. After some time, the problem will resolve itself and the vehicle will drive normally. This problem is infrequent which is what makes it so vexing. Each incident was more than 6 months apart so you never know when it will just stall out. Because our van was converted to a rear entry wheelchair van by Braunability we've had the conversion components/connections thoroughly inspected by the conversion company dealer. I can see online that this is a known issue with multiple vehicles equipped with the Pentastar V6 engine with stop-start and that there have been recalls but many people on the forum, the recall work didn't resolve the issue. We've had the vehicle to Chrysler dealers several times (four or five) to address the issue without permanent resolution. We've replaced the primary and secondary batteries several times. We've recently installed an aftermarket stop-start eliminator recently in the hope that it will resolve the problem. Additionally, because our Pacifica was converted for our disabled child, we will probably need to sell the vehicle at a significant loss because we can't risk having the vehicle stall on the interstate highway or freeway as we have no way to remove him from it safely. This issue seems so widespread that Chrysler/Stellantis should have continued responsibility to resolve it permanently.

We received multiple reminders for the recalls to be addressed, but each time we make an appointment at various service centers, they say that they cannot address the recall due to staff shortage and parts not being available. This has been persisting for over 4 years. Chrysler does not make a good faith effort to address these recalls. Most recently, we had an appointment and they (Spring Autonation in Spring, TX) told us that they would have to hold the car for weeks before being able to get to it due to shortage of staff as they only have two service members who can address it. Helfman Dodge said they holding time would be 3-4 weeks before being able to get to it. Teh reminders for the three recalls are coming from the dealerships, and yet they are not able to address them.

After turning the car off and on it did not fix it. Leaving it off for 15 mins seemed to make the error go away. We had it towed to Tustin Tuttle Chrysler dealership for service. The dealership found the fault code in the log, it was a power steering control failure. They could not replicate the circumstance and insist on releasing the car as safe to drive; putting my family and the public at great risk. The dealership refuse to even run diagnostics on the faulty identified part. They said if they cannot recreate the problem they won’t fix it, even though they see the error code on their scanner. They shouldn’t be telling me the car is safe when it is clearly not. They only drove it 30 miles and did not check wiring or even pop the hood. They have done no work to deem it safe and this is fraud. Rochelle, the service manager, has told us over the phone that she will not work on the car, because she believes she will not be reimbursed for the work. She has said she has had the car for too long and wants it picked up. Her service advisor Erik, has read us the codes found over the phone and also told us that no one has worked on it and only has test driven it. This vehicle continues to display the same symptoms that are listed in V53/NHTSA 19V-348. The steering wheel gets stuck when making turns on roads at around 40 mph. It also displays similar behavior when making slow moving turns and the wheel is fully locked to turn either left or right. I have called FCA today and asked that my vehicle be included in the recall notice. The customer service person I spoke to could not do that for me. She could only suggest that I lodge a complaint on this site. It's a dangerous situation when you are driving as you hope that the steering wheel will return to the straight ahead position after making the turn. This makes my wife nervous to drive. It is negligent for FCA to ignore this as the end result could be tragic if not addressed. I implore you to add my VIN or batch of manufacture to this recall. To answer the bullet point questions. 1. Steering. 2. Risk that the steering wheel will not return to the straight ahead position. 3. I could easily replicate this behavior if a dealer would want to drive with me for a few hours to the roads that I know that this occurs. I could most likely demonstrate the low speed outcomes too. 4. No inspections have been done by the dealer. My independent mechanic is aware of this and directed me to the original recall notice. 5. There are no warning lamps. This has been going on for well over 18 months, maybe longer. I've already spent money with my mechanic on a repair that did not resolve the behavior (at that point, he did not have the recall notice and was doing his own troubleshooting)

The power brake booster was failing and causing the vehicle to not stop as expected. When it was brought to an auto mechanic a few weeks after noticing the issue, they described it as appearing defective beyond normal wear-and-tear and reminiscent of a recall for earlier year models of Chrysler Pacificas. Occasionally, when the brakes were depressed and the car was at rest, the vehicle would start moving and the brake pedal would push strongly against being depressed. Brake Booster has failed. There was previously an extended warranty published for this same issue on November 11, 2023 (No D-22-15) for XA7 Brake Booster, however that expires after 5 years after the vehicle was placed in service or 150,000 miles (whichever is sooner). The Brake Booster failure on our vehicle happened just a few short months after this "expiration date" of the extended warranty. Also, the date of the extended warranty was issued was November 2023. This left only 5 months from the issuance of the letter to the expiration of the warranty, which does not seem to be a reasonable amount of time. Our vehicle is not safe to drive as the brakes are not functioning properly which could result in serious and fatal injury's to the occupants or other vehicles on the roadway. Additionally repair parts are not available to purchase and are on a "National back order". Attention needs to be given to this topic as there are many vehicles on the road that are not safe because of this lack of quality.

My 2019 Pacifica Hybrid started showing a message around 07/19 “Service Charing Station” followed by Service Park brakes, Service Parking system and was not able to start or control anything in the car. After 15 to 30 minutes it started working and no errors. On Friday, 07/26, car stopped all of a sudden (luckily my family was in the parking lot) and showed a different message “Stop Safely. Vehicle will stop soon” message and after that it went completely dead. This is a concern that the vehicle would stop when driving and making the vehicle not responding to anything. You cannot control (brakes, driving modes, light) anything and when AAA jump started the car was in “Running” mode and asking to power on the vehicle.

Vehicle was found to be overheating, with low coolant. Initial concern for possible hose leak, but nothing visualized on inspection...testing demonstrated a blown head gasket and possible warped cylinder. I have a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica that has had several issues since I purchased it. The Start Stop System warning lamp comes on and off, and my check engine light is on. The van is barely driveable, it shudders, stalls, and is a major safety concern for my family. I use this van to transport my 3 young children around, and I never know when it is going to stall. It has completely lost power on the highway, resulting in a near catastrophic accident. I have reached out to Chrysler directly, as well as the dealer. There is indeed many recalls on this year and model car, but I am told my VIN number is not included. Chrysler, and the dealership, Imperial Chrysler in Mendon Ma, refuse to address the issue because my VIN is not included, but yet my car is experiencing the same exact symptoms and issues that have already been recalled. Chrysler has announced a recall on approximately 198,000 model-year 2017-19 Pacifica minivans equipped with stop-start due to battery issues. A loose battery ground connection may result in an intermittent loss of power steering assist or a stall, increasing the risk of a crash. When I reached out directly to Chrysler, I was directed to a call center where the woman was extremely rude and short with me. She continuously repeated that my VIN is not affected and would not offer any further assistance. In the mean while, this car is unsafe.

I had my three children in the van and was holding our new baby as I opened the automatic passenger-side sliding door. It opened part way, got stuck, but the autotrack kept operating trying to open the door. At that point, the whole door fell off and the window immediately behind the door broke. We had it towed to a dealer since we didn't want to drive it with everything open. I was very fortunate that the door didn't drop on my feet or that one of my children wasn't standing there waiting to get in! With the holiday, we are waiting to talk to our insurance agent on Monday. The dealer has given us an estimate to fix everything, but that is the only thing like an inspection. Prior to the incident, the door would sometimes stop when opening, then it would reverse and close itself. Then you could reopen it and it worked. There were no other warnings.

I turn it back on and message is still there. I turn it off again and this time quickly open and close the door to completely shut down the electric. Turn it back on and message is gone but check engine light is on. Drive home and then drive more during the evening with check engine light on the entire time. 6/21/24: Start the car in the morning and check engine light is off. Able to travel for about an hour and then, driving on highway, same message comes up and I do the same thing. Check engine light stays on again but message goes away. Drive for about 20 minutes and the message comes up again. Again I pull over and do the same series of things as described. Car allows me to drive but check engine light is on. Do not drive the car for the rest of the weekend. 6/24/24: Start car in the morning. Check engine light is on as I drive it about 5 minutes to my local mechanic. He runs the codes and does the research and tell me that I need a new transmission and it is under warranty. I pick up the van later to take it to dealer and the check engine light is off. Drive to dealer and now the dealer says there is nothing they can do if the light doesn't go back on. They are saying that I have to experience this same problem on a highway with my family in the car for them to fix it even though there is a recall on this transmission.

While @ highway speed this vehicle lost ipower steering, power braking and the engine stalled out…this latest event prompted my complaint and was the third time I have experienced this situation. In all three incidents I was simply able to coast to the side of the road and stop. Thankfully after a few attempts to restart the vehicle started and ran. It was very frightening given it lost total power on all three occasions without notice or warning it like it just turns itself off. I contacted RollX vans the folks from whom we purchased this handicap transport vehicle and they informed me of a safety recall V53 for 2017-2019 Pacificas. The recall details the exact symptoms of what I experienced. I took the recall information and the vehicle to a local dealership Larry H Miller Chrysler, Tucson AZ and they mostly dismissed my account and said there is NO recall on my VIN despite the V53 recall. They said the tech couldn’t get it to duplicate and situation. They said they checked the grounds and it’s all OK. I am not convinced considering the timeline of their alleged repair and the answers I rec’d from the service writer when I asked specifics about the repair. I suspect they simply test drove it when it did not duplicate the situation they said it’s OK.

Engine failure; engine light P0306 error, cylinder 6 head gasket blown. Mileage 62k, Year 2019. Yes, vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle was a danger to my family and others, as it unexpectedly overheated on the freeway, and there were no known engine problems to that point. I drive a minivan for my family (2 parents and 3 children), and I am also a carpool parent for two other children, and regularly drive children to and from school, twice a day. An engine failure with no warning is a massive danger and a huge compromise to safety to the families involved and those on the road around us as it occurred unexpectedly on a freeway, at freeway speeds. Upon inspection by a mechanic, it was discovered that the vehicle had no coolant, the coolant had been leaking into the engine, causing mis-firing of cylinder 6, and the car overheated due to low coolant levels; the cylinder head gasket and exhaust manifold gasket was replaced. Additional engine components in poor condition and also replaced: all spark plugs, coolant housing, timing chain tensioner A and B, front crank shaft seal, timing cover gasket, oil filter housing, and rear engine mount. Additionally the cylinder head needed to be resurfaced. The vehicle/component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance reps. The vehicle and faulty components have been inspected by a mechanic. Leading up to the engine failure, there were no warnings of low coolant, as there is no coolant sensor; the engine light only turned on the day of engine failure; and a few days before engine failure, the only symptom observed was slightly stronger idling than normal, almost imperceptible.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing issues plaguing my car. This dissatisfaction is compounded by the fact that this car was brand new when I picked it up from the dealership, with no miles on it. Since then, I have encountered a series of concerning problems. At around 30,000 miles, the batteries required replacement, followed shortly by a transmission replacement at 40,000 miles. Additionally, the TV screens throughout the car began shutting off autonomously, a persistent issue that remains unresolved. Subsequently, at 60,000 miles, both the engine and batteries needed replacement once again. Despite repeated efforts to address these issues under warranty, the car continues to experience persistent troubles. It often stalls every two days, and despite addressing these issues under warranty, the TV malfunctions persist. Furthermore, the situation has escalated with the engine now overheating and malfunctions occurring in critical safety features such as airbags, lights, and ACC. These concerns have created a myriad of safety issues within the vehicle, particularly during driving, with multiple safety concerns arising regarding the navigation and various electronic components. It is evident that these safety hazards are all mechanically related and have persisted since the car reached 30,000 miles. Additionally, amidst these significant safety concerns, one of the main safety components of the vehicle is compromised. Intermediately and on a consistent basis, the car doors open on their own, posing a serious risk. There have been instances where my son has inadvertently pressed the door to open from the outside, and the doors open without any form of key input. The key is not present, yet the door opens on its own, triggering the alarm. This ongoing issue has left me emotionally and monetarily drained over the past few years.

The Uconnect 4 infotainment system is consistently rebooting every 2-3 minutes, leaving several safety measures for the vehicle from being used during those times. This leaves risk that the safety feature is not usable when needed for example rear warning for small child behind vehicle is not operable. As well the Navigation system is not working appropriately and has the vehicle always located at a street that I am no where near. This leaves risk that it will be a distraction to driver to locate their whereabouts in unfamiliar areas. Also not able to use hands free system for mobile device when the system is continuously rebooting as such and therefore would not be able to make call for emergency assistance when needed. FCA US LLC has been provided many complaints about this yet continues to ignore that this is a wide spread issue and is nationwide. Therefore they fail to extend the warranty related to the Uconnect 4 infotainment system and render thousands of people having to cover the cost of their faulty Uconnect product.

Vehicle parked faced in in a tight fitting space in a hotel underground parking area. When leaving the knob was in the park position, push button start, vehicle started in the park position, looked behind and the people across from me had just loaded their van. They were now on the side of their van. It was now clear. I then placed the transmission from park to reverse still with the foot on the brake. I then released the brake . The vehicle suddenly and abruptly went in reverse without accelerating but when applying the brake the vehicle would not stop and continued going backwards even though I was firmly now pressing and pumping on the brake pedal to no avail. I yelled at my wife, "it won't stop, it won't stop" It backed up not stopping for approximately 25 feet and struck two vehicles finally coming to rest, The damage to all three vehicles including mine was minor. I reported the accident on private property to my insurance company. I know for a fact that my foot did not push down on the accelerator pedal nor was part of my foot on both the brake and accelerator pedal. which is almost impossible to do. The stop start system had broken three times since purchasing the van. This was done again 2 weeks before this accident. The vehicle is available for inspection. Quite apparent ithis is a safety risk. This occurred 1 day ago and has not been inspected. Accident on private property in Calif. No accident report was taken. No warning lamps, messages etc occurred. I keep the van in good repair. No warnings light at all other than the stop start feature which was dealt with by the Chrysler dealership. Slight feeling of being out of control for a moment, especially in the rain. A quick Google search shows us that the shift jolt isn't new and is actually exactly what was happening with the Honda Odyssey van, which used to share the same transmission. Van was idling rough and started to struggle to start in the morning, at times needing to try a few times before it would start up. Once driving the van is still idling roughly and at red lights feels as if it will not be able to drive at all. The check engine light came on so we had the error code read at AutoZone throwing the P0303 Cylinder 1 misfire. We first took it to our local mechanic where he was unable to fully diagnose the issue, he recommended we then take it to the dealership. Our van is currently at the dealership with coolant leaking into the head gasket. We have opened a case with the dealership and are independently pursuing them taking responsibility for the faulty parts. The car did not 'drive hot' at all and not temperature gauge change occurred at all. I cannot safely drive or count on this van to drive my four kids around at this time. This is a design/manufacturing flaw as I have recently found out that it is occurring in Chrysler Pacifica's at a high rate around 60k miles. We are at 63k in a 2019 and are now told we must pay 4,500k to replace the head gasket that the coolant has leaked into. This issue is common with this model and there is no guarantee that this will prevent the same issue with another cylinder or force us to buy a new engine on a 4 year old car.

On Wednesday, 7/19, I was stopped at a red light on a busy road in Gastonia, NC (South New Hope Road and Titman Road). When the light turned green, and I put my foot on the gas, the car stalled and shut off. Upon pressing the ignition button, it would not start again. For several weeks, the car would stall at a red light, but would always turn back on by pressing the ignition button. There were NO warning messages whatsoever. I had to cross a busy road to get to the sidewalk to get out of danger. The car was in the left turn lane, stopped with hazards on. My husband had to come, turn our other car around so he could attempt to charge the battery. When he charged the battery, the car started. I had to, again, cross the busy road to get back to my van and go home. We changed the car's two batteries, and it has not happened again so far. Upon reading several Chrysler Pacifica forums, apparently when the battery gets low (it was at 30% when this happened), the auto start shuts off and does not work since there is not enough power left in the battery.

The van completely turns off, engine stops running, when stopped at traffic lights. The van then has to be completely restarted. There is also a consistent issue with the start/stop feature. A warning appears and the start/stop feature is disabled. This error typically occurs after the engine turns off when at a traffic signal.

I was getting my oil changed and the guy told me that my engine was no longer bolted down, that it can move all around. I called Chrysler and they told me that they would charge me to diagnose the problem and that it would not be covered under warranty. I took it to another shop and they said that it was not bolted down, because the bolts that Chrysler used were bad. It is so frustrating that my engine could slide around causing all sorts of issues and Chrysler does not care at all. How is that not covered?

We replaced the battery and removed the auxillary battery that controls the automatic start/stop and had no issues for almost a year. Approximately a week ago, the vehicle began to stall again when coming to a stop, and giving a message stating to "service shifter." It has happened multiple times since. There was a lawsuit for this model regarding the crankshaft position sensor, but we are only reimbursed if we have paid for repairs. Can you help?

She said she tried several times to start the vehicle and same thing happened. She stated that after waiting a considerable time she tried calling me about the problem but I didn’t answer. She then tried one more time to start the vehicle and this time everything came up normally. When she got home I checked the vehicle for malfunctions and found none. Thus far the problem has not recurred. This happened about 2 weeks ago, around the 8th or 9th of June 2023. Ever since we purchased this vehicle it has had problems shifting when accelerating it jerks the whole car, and you hear a loud thud. Once in awhile it feels like the car has no power when trying to accelerate. We have had nothing but issues with the Start/Stop control system. We have taken it back to the dealership multiple times. They have replaced the alternate battery two times in the past year and now it is doing it again and will need to be replaced. The dealership just says it is the battery, and a software download. Most recently, the vehicle has been at the dealership/service department since February 8, 2023, and they are unable to remedy the issue. My own research shows a recall of approximately 48,000, 2018 Chrysler Pacificas, manufactured in the same plant as ours (Windsor, ON) concerning a faulty right-font lower control arm, which can separate from the steering knuckle, causing a loss in steering. I don't believe it is just a coincidence that we are having the same issue on our 2019 vehicle. Attached you will find all of the repairs made to our vehicle, however, the noise persists.

My local Chrysler dealership suggested (and charged me for) computer updates relating to the sliding doors and transmission of a 2019 Pacifica minivan. Without these updates, the service advisor said the sliding doors may not open/close and that the engine may rev but power may not be delivered to the drivetrain. Doors can be opened manually. I am not all that concerned about that one. But if the engine revs but does not deliver power to the wheels, the results can be catastrophic, especially while pulling out in traffic at highway speeds. These issues require a recall with costs covered by the manufacturer not the consumer. I was charged $165.00 for this repair.

Please read! This is the 10th occurrence of this issue, and second time posting here as a safety issue. I hope no one else experiences this. The issue still cant be diagnosed, so trying for another time. Last time they had the Pacifica for over 7 weeks! As per previous complaint on Jan 6, 2023 with our 2 year old twin toddlers with us in the vehicle again, the vehicle is still having the same safety issue. I dont feel safe any longer driving my Pacifica. I called the customer care line and was told nothing can be done without a diagnosis. It will be dropped off, but no appt avail for a month. You cant replicate this. No one should have to experience it. **We were driving on the freeway at 55 mph. After 30 min on the freeway at 55-60 mph, the Pacifica all of a sudden states car is not in park, (as it did the previous 9 times) The van will not accelerate, because of the warning saying car is not in park, and Hazard lights wouldn't activate. The car behind me was honking, almost hit me and the car behind them and so on. The Pacifica continued to just glide on the road in the drive position with the same warning over and over car is not in park. We slowed down enough we pressed the brake and put it in park, STILL IN THE LANE ON THE BUSY FREEWAY! With brake depressed, We tried to get the alert to shut off by having the van in park so we can restart it. But the van wont restart as it still says car is not in park, but yet it really is in park. as an FYI, The auto start stop was shut off at start up. We Got the car shut completely off (while still in the lane on the freeway with cars honking away.) and were finally able to get the van to restart, the alerts to go away and off to the side of the freeway and to the exit. Can you imagine how terrifying this is!!! YOU CANT PREDICT WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN! Either you choose drive it and take the risk of your safety or pay for rental to ensure you are safe !! When it is a safety problem, it should be taken more seriously!

I repeated this process 2 times until the final time, the vehicle would not restart, and we were stranded on the shoulder of a busy road in icy conditions. A mechanic ran a diagnostic on the vehicle and there are no error codes, but it will not start and says there is a charging error, even though it is not plugged in. The sudden stops are very dangerous, especially in snowy/icy conditions. We are 600 miles away from home and do not feel safe operating this vehicle on a long road trip on busy highways.

Multiple issues. First the ESS system has malfunctioned twice since purchase in 2019, required maintenance and aux battery replacement twice within 1 year. The major issue is the breaks/rotors/suspension. For the last year and a half I have been taking the van in for inspections... initially stated I did not need brakes/rotors at the dealership even though I was having slight squeaking and grinding, after bring it back a third time I was told oh yea you need them and its gonna cost $1,800. I then got a second opinion, they said the brakes and pads looked fine but if I wanted they would replace the pads in an attempt to make the squeaking stop. the squeaking stopped for about 10 days but the grinding and "metal rubbing" sound never has, they replaced the pads 3 more times. They stated it is not the brakes/rotors but fail to give a reason. He mentioned it is a body suspension issue, which I have been asking about for over a year. Very frustrating. Also my sliding van doors keep malfunctioning to work sometimes, or require manual opening and closing with no apparent reason. So disappointed with less then 60,000 miles

The entire dash board lit up with all warning lights turning on. I couldn't go faster than 15. I coasted into a parking spot. I tried to put it in park but it said shifter unavailable. I set the emergency brake and called for a ride. Went back later and it started and the only light that was on was check engine. After that happened we got a service shifter message. When you start it and get a service shifter message, you cannot shift. The shifter doesn't even light up. It started as an occasional problem. My safety is at risk when I try to drive it and it won't shift. I am stuck wherever I am. That is a huge problem during the cold winter months. It is also a safety concern that it went into limp mode. Luckily when it happened, it was early in the morning and not a lot of people were out. If it happens on the highway that is going to be a huge safety problem. It has been to the dealer twice. The first time we replaced the shifter. The mechanic said we must have spilled soda on the shifter because it was sticky. We did not spill soda on the shifter, the shifter is in the dash. We replaced it anyways and picked it up. The very next morning got the same service shifter message. Took it back to the dealer. They had us pick it up because it wasn't a big enough problem. Getting stuck somewhere and not being able to shift seems like a pretty big problem to me. I can't take my children anywhere in this van for fear of going out and being stuck wherever we went because I can't shift.

After spending the better part of the week dealing with endlessly rebooting Uconnect infotainment systems, Fiat Chrysler customers across the Northeast are finally seeing their cars mostly return to normal. A majority of the customers who spoke to The Verge earlier this week about their malfunctioning vehicles have reported back that the maddening reboot loop has stopped. According to numerous exchanges with the Uconnect customer support account on Twitter, other customers are seeing the same thing. For some it’s come too late, as the constant rebooting has drained their vehicles’ batteries completely. The problem began over the weekend after an over-the-air update apparently went out to certain 2017 and 2018 model year cars. After that, something went wrong with SiriusXM’s Travel Link feature. Travel Link surfaces local news, weather, and other alerts in real time, and for some reason — it’s still not clear exactly what, since FCA is being vague about the specifics, and SiriusXM has not responded to multiple requests for comment — it started causing vehicles with 8.4-inch screen Uconnect 4C NAV systems to start rebooting every 45 to 60 seconds. Based on reports from customers who spoke to The Verge, as well ones posted to Twitter, it appears that either FCA or SiriusXM started sending out a “signal” that disables SiriusXM Travel Link sometime Wednesday afternoon. Those who have received the signal have reported that their vehicles are finally free of the reboot cycle. Those who haven’t are being advised by the Uconnect support account to turn their vehicle off, turn it back on again in an “open space where it will receive a solid satellite signal,” and leave it running for at least 15 to 20 minutes. There Are lawsuits and FCA has not fixed this problem. GPS and all other systems will not work properly. There needs to be a recall on these cars 2017-2019!

The Blind Spot Alert does not work, the Power Sliding Doors do not work, the Windows will not operate, the Heat go to 76 degrees and will not turn off, the Info Center goes black, the Back Up Camera will not work, the Navigation system stops working, the Audio stops working, the Audio/Bluetooth will not work, the Panel Lights come on but do not work. We were on a trip when the Uconnect system malfunctioned and all the above happened. The temp outside was about 75 degrees and the heat came on and the windows would not work. My wife's foot got so severely burned it needed medical attention and is still dealing with this 3 months later. The vehicle became an oven. With the power sliding doors being inop my wife is either a prisoner in her own vehicle or she cannot enter the vehicle at all. With her limited mobility and the backup camera inop it makes it unsafe for to back the vehicle up safely. 1. The brake booster on my 2019 Pacifica failed, resulting in a collision at a red light. 2. I replaced the brake booster myself since the car was just out of warranty 3. Three months later, Chrysler sent a letter to an address that I have not lived at for 15 yrs and never had this Pacifica registered at - the letter said that the warranty period for the brake booster has been extended for 2018-2020 Chrysler Pacificas 4. Chrysler denied my reimbursement request because I did not have the replacement brake booster installed at a Chrysler dealer 5. My colleague has a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica which also suffered a brake booster failure, but is not covered under this warranty extension. 6. I called 3 separate dealers and multiple parts stores . . . .no one had a replacement brake booster in stock. The earliest I could get a replacement was 1 week by ordering it online. It appears that brake booster replacements are in high demand for this vehicle. -Why is this a warranty extension rather than a recall? -Why is Chrysler denying reimbursements for part costs? -Why is 2017 not included in Chrysler's warranty extension? -Why is Chrysler doing a terrible job of notifying owners (using addresses over 15 yrs old) rather than using addresses listed with the DMV or addresses used when purchasing the vehicles?

The engine suddenly turned off and could not be started while driving, posing a threat to the safety of my life and that of others. The transmission controller is completely inoperative, with no display or function. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? unknown Has the vehicle or parts been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? unknown Were there any warning lights, messages or other symptoms of the problem before the failure and when did they first appear? Not only is it confusing to the driver to still see a non-realtime image of the back of the vehicle, any and all controls are locked out from the main infotainment screen. This has not be replicated at the dealer as it's unpredictable and somewhat infrequent. But given that there are times a full reboot of the van aren't possible (highway driving), this could be a major safety issue. No warnings are given or report from the vehicle.

VISIBILITY/WIPERAugust 22, 2022
While driving on the interstate, it began to rain and proceeded to rain heavily. Initially started the wipers on intermittent low, then high, then low constant, and eventually high constant (highest setting). All of a sudden, drivers side wiper became un-synced, stuck under the path of the passenger side wiper and no longer able to clear drivers field of vision. I luckily made it on to the shoulder from the left lane and waited out the storm as I didn't feel safe getting out to inspect the situation, standing in front of my vehicle on the side of the road while visibility was reduced. Eventually made it onto an exit and proceeded to inspect what was going on, drivers side wiper was found to be loose, wiper arm retaining nut was loose and could be spun by finger. Unfortunately, no tools on hand and rain beginning to pour again, I adjusted the wiper arm to normal starting position and tightened it to the best of my ability in order to get home to properly tighten and secure the wiper arm. Seeing as this is only a 3 year old vehicle and intended to be used by families transporting loved ones, I would expect life/safety features to be performing impeccably. There is no excuse for why the wiper arm nut would come loose. I've found similar incidents reported online for this particular vehicle. Disaster was averted this time, please look into this issue and at the very least demand Chrysler inform their customers of this safety problem, it's an easy fix.

Electronic Start Stop (ESS) fails to function. ESS dash warning light is on. Aux battery for ESS, when it fails, slowly drains the main battery. This is similar to the Y65 recall/vehicle campaign for this model car for years 2017-2018. Well, my 2019 and scores more are also affected by this issue, both in and out of warranty.

The problem was then resolved. I'm worried it will happen again though. After researching, I saw that there were reports of this happening a few years ago, but apparently my VIN was not included in that recall.

Requesting an N.H.T.S.A. an investigation into the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica defects as they relate to this specific model & vin number, leased directly from a Connecticut CJDR dealer as a new vehicle. Vehicle currently has 53k miles on it. The lurching & hard shifting defects in the transmission are well cited back to 2016 for this model. Our minivan began lurching forward during gear shifts at &/or approaching highway speeds (37mph - 59 mph) at ~35k miles, while on the highway or roadway with this permissible speed. Problem was intermittent & is now constant. Transmission lurching, & slamming began last year is so aggressive that the slamming woke my son from a sound sleep and vibrated the front cabin. A complaint has been made to Stallantis & the vehicle has been brought to the local CJDR dealer four times for the same issue. There is no code, so they can not fix the issue, nor can they can get the van to re-create the issue in the 7 or 8 miles they test drive it. Blogs have shown updates to the PCM and TCM. Service Bulletin NUMBER: 21-027-17 as a possible fix, but we did that & nothing has changed. TCM has no updates. Stallantis is now telling me I need to bring it back to the dealer and leave it for several days so they can "drive it home" & add more miles to the miles I have already added to it to have it diagnosed, back & forth the dealership & it's a lease. Stallantis is stating they will "look at it" even if the power train warranty is over at 60k miles, but won't guarantee they'll repair it. In the past they have given me Mopar vehicle protection plans for the life of the lease for specific issues, when these issues have not been fixable. Case manager says he isn't aware of that & has to check with his supervisor. The concern is the vehicle is going to have a total transmission failure with my children in the van. A "Star" case needs to be opened by Stellantis for this issue & I am going to request that tonight. Service bull. attached. CC. Atty Gen./CT.

On two separate occasions vehicle went into limp mode (red turtle mode) and then within minutes lost power and completely stopped working. The message "Service Charging Station" appeared after both incidents on the dashboard. We were fortunately traveling at low speeds (less than 25 MPH) and were able to pull over before losing power, but under other circumstances on other roads, the outcome could have certainly been worse and we may not have been able to move over to safety. On both occasions we were left stranded and the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership for repair. The vehicular failure we experienced on both occasions appears to be the same that is currently being investigated in the Office of Defects Investigation PE 22-008. The first incident occurred in December of 2021. Eventually the dealership replaced the power inverter module (PIM) in February of 2022. Vehicle was road tested and checked for safety and returned to us. In June of 2022 the vehicle broke down again with the exact same chain of events. Vehicle is currently at the dealership for repair and is again awaiting replacement of the PIM. It is my understanding that the failed parts have been/will be sent to Chrysler for internal investigation. As far as I am aware, they have not been inspected by any other parties. Other than the car going into limp mode, there were no other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

I was traveling at about 40 MPH on a four lane highway in February of 2022 when I suddenly lost all motive power. The dashboard reported a charging system error. I was able to get the car to the side of the road (though I was lucky to be able to do so) and it had to be towed to the Chrysler dealership (Deery Brothers Chrysler, 651 Hwy 1 W, Iowa City, IA 52246, 319-600-6890). They replaced a part in the charging system and it briefly ran, and then failed (thus the dealer has also reproduced the problem). It has now been at the dealership since then waiting for Chrysler to figure out the problem. Apparently Chrysler has sent an engineer to Deery as well, so there may be some confirmation from the manufacturer.

Frisco Chrysler installed the auxiliary battery successfully. Unfortunately, six months later we were back at Frisco Chrysler because the auxiliary light had come back on. I took the van to the dealership and they replaced the auxiliary battery stating that the battery will only last between six months to 2 years. In June 2021, the auxiliary light came back on and Frisco Chrysler changed the auxiliary battery again. I returned the following day because the auxiliary light came back on. We took our vehicle in to the Service Center for a routine inspection on August 9, 2021, because we realized our sticker expired only to learn that it would not pass inspection due to the check engine light coming on. After they diagnosed it, we were told the reason for the Check Engine light being on was some wires had supposedly been chewed by rodents. Drivers can become distracted when the Uconnect system malfunctions, taking their eyes off the road and increasing the risk of the crash. They may also lose access to safety features such as the back-up camera and hands-free phone use. Sometimes the problem resolves if turn vehicle off, sometimes the fuses have to be pulled, and sometimes the vehicle has to go to the dealer. Chrysler has not addressed this issue properly with software updates as it keeps happening. Here is a list of components that will not work when UConnect radio goes blank: - GPS and navigation system keeps turning on and off, or doesn’t work at all - Rear-view backup camera doesn’t work when reversing, or stays on when the car is in forward motion - Uconnect theater system doesn’t work properly (no radio, rear DVD, music, etc.) - Climate control isn’t responsive - Heated seats don’t work or are “stuck on” - Loss of Bluetooth connectivity, which is necessary for hands-free calling - TV monitors fail to turn on, connect and/or sync with the Uconnect system There are currently class action lawsuits on this matter. https://www.classaction.org/chrysler-pacifica-uconnect-screen-camera-gps-theater-lawsuits Please hold FCA accountable to get a proper fix out to stop this issue. I have personally experienced this problem multiple times and have been to the dealer twice to try different firmware updates and still have problem. I am not alone in dealing with this issue as many on forums and discussion groups have shared the same problems.

The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 35 mph, the brake pedal failed to operate as needed without warning. The contact was able to swerve past the vehicle in front of her and stop on the side of the road. The contact's wife parked the vehicle in a parking lot and the contact picked up the vehicle and drove it home. The contact had taken the vehicle to several independent mechanics for estimates on a repair. One mechanic informed him that the vehicle was still under warranty and had to be repaired by a dealer. The contact then had the vehicle towed to a dealer where he was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a brake booster contamination that needed replacement. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

COUNTLESS EPISODES WHEN ON SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AND USING REGENERATIVE BRAKING, USUALLY GOING DOWN A HILL TRYING TO MAINTAIN SPEED WITH STEADY MODERATE BREAK PEDAL PRESSURE. WHEN I ENCOUNTER THESE SLIPPERY CONDITIONS THE REGENERATIVE BRAKES RAPIDLY DECREASE THEIR FORCE (OR ENTIRELY LOOSE BRAKING) FOR ABOUT 1 SECOND. IF I AM ON A LONGER STRETCH OF SLIPPERY CONDITIONS (PACKED SNOW, ICE) THEN THIS REPEATS AT ABOUT 1 SECOND INTERVALS. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 10-35 MPH. IF I PRESS HARDER THE ABS KICKS IN, BECAUSE THE OCCURS ON STEEP HILLS, INSTEAD OF MAINTAINING SPEED OR SLOWING DOWN, THE EFFECT OF GRAVITY LEADS TO AN ACCELERATION.

I TOOK IT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PADS ARE FINE BUT THE ROTORS ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND MUST BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES. INFORMATION PUBLISHED BY CHRYSLER INDICATES THAT ROTORS SHOULD LAST 40,000 TO 80,000 MILES. THIS CAR HAS BEEN KEPT IN A GARAGE THE ENTIRE TIME I HAVE OWNED IT WHEN IT WAS NOT BEING DRIVEN. I THINK IT IS CLEAR THAT THE ROTORS WERE MADE OF DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES, YET I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY $1,000 OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED. I AM REPORTING THIS SO AN INVESTIGATION CAN BE DONE INTO THE MATERIALS CHRYSLER USED TO PRODUCE THESE ROTORS. A RECALL MAY NEED TO BE CONSIDERED.

UNABLE TO START THE CAR AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS IT FINALLY STARTED AGAIN, WENT A FEW MORE FEET AND THEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF AGAIN, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM THE FRONT AND THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. A PEDESTRIAN CAME OVER AND TOLD ME NOT TO ATTEMPT TO START THE CAR AGAIN BECAUSE THERE WAS GASOLINE LEAKING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME AT THE TIME AND SO WE ALL HAD TO HOP OUT IN A PANIC AND I WENT INSIDE A NEARBY COFFEE SHOP TO CALL THE POLICE, INSURANCE CO AND A TOWING SERVICE. AS I MENTIONED THE CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WHICH WAS A DANGER TO DRIVERS PASSING BY AND TO MYSELF, ALL I COULD SEE WAS GASOLINE POURING OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SERVICE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CLAMP FROM THE FUEL LINE SOMEHOW CAME OFF AND THIS WAS "A ONE IN A MILLION CHANCE OF HAPPENING TO ANYONE". WHEN SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT/SIGN THE BRAKES START TO MAKE A LOUD HISSING SOUND AND PUSH BACK AGAINST MY FOOT FORCING ME TO PUSH THE PEDDLE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH MORE FORCE THEN SHOULD BE NEEDED. THIS CAUSES THE BREAKS TO DISENGAGE AND THE VAN ROLLS. I AM FORCED TO PUT THE VAN IN PARK AT STOP LIGHTS SO I WILL NOT ROLL INTO TRAFFIC OR VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME WHEN I AM SUPPOSED TO BE STOPPED. SOMETIMES I AM ON A DECLINE OR EVEN JUST SITTING ON A STRAIGHT AWAY WAITING AT A STOPLIGHT/SIGN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE MY KIDS IN THE VEHICLE 90% OF THE TIME. ONE STATED I NEEDED TO SHIFT TO 'P' AND PRESS THE START BUTTON (THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN MOTION). THE SECOND MESSAGE STATED THERE WAS A FAULT IN THE HYBRID CHARGING SYSTEM. ONCE STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER, I SHIFTED TO PARK AND PRESSED THE START BUTTON WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL (THE NORMAL PROCESS TO START THE VEHICLE). THE DASHBOARD, INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM, AND WINDOW CONTROL APPEARED TO POWER-CYCLE, BUT NEITHER THE VEHICLE NOR THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD START. AS A RESULT, THE DEALER SAID IT MAY BE BETTER TO AVOID TRYING THE UPDATE AGAIN, UNLESS THE PROBLEM OF THE RECALL OCCURS. THIS DEALER POSITION IS DUE TO THEIR CLAIM THAT THE RADIO AND SPEAKER SYSTEM COULD BLOW OUT AND IT WOULD TAKE SEVERAL MONTHS FOR RADIO/SPEAKERS TO BE REPAIRED. ALSO, THE DEALER EXPLAINED IN THE EVENT THAT THE RADIO/SPEAKERS WOULD BLOW OUT, THE 8.4" SCREEN WOULD NOT SHOW ANY INFORMATION, SUCH AS RELATING TO THE GPS AND/OR THE REAR VIEW WHEN BACKING UP. THE ALL SEASON TIRES PROVIDED WITH THE NEW VEHICLE ARE USELESS ON SNOWY ICY MINNESOTA ROADS. VERY LONG STOPPING DISTANCE. TWO EXPERIENCED VAN DRIVERS NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE RIGHT AWAY. THE EXTRA SMALL TREAD TOWARD THE MIDDLE OF THE WIDE TIRES DOES LITTLE TO IMPROVE TRACTION FOR ACCELERATING FROM A PARKED POSITION. ALSO, SKIDDING IS MUCH MORE LIKELY WITH THESE TIRES. THE TIRES SHOULD HAVE MUCH DEEPER TREADS SINCE THEIR WIDTH GIVES LESS TRACTION.

THE THIRD ROW BENCH SEEMS EASILY CAPABLE OF POPPING OFF ITS ATTACHMENT TO THE FLOOR WITH A BIT OF PRESSURE. WHEN WE INSTALLED OUR BABY CAR SEAT IN THE THIRD ROW FOR THE FIRST TIME, WE LOCKED IT IN PLACE WITH THE SEAT BELT AND THEN TIGHTENED THE SEAT INTO PLACE BY USING THE ELECTRIC RECLINE TO SQUEEZE SOME EXTRA ROOM AND MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO GIVE. AT SOME POINT WE TIGHTENED THE RECLINE TOO MUCH AND THE BASE OF THE WHOLE THIRD ROW POPPED OFF OF THE FLOOR. EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE ONCE WE STARTED OVER AND RESET THE SEAT IN PLACE. I ALSO DISCONNECTED THE POWER RECLINE BUTTON IN THAT ROW SO THAT OUR SON WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO RE-CREATE THAT ISSUE. HOWEVER, A FEW WEEKS AGO MY WIFE WAS PUTTING SOME LARGE ITEMS IN THE CAR AND SHE WAS TRYING TO PUT DOWN THE THIRD ROW PASSENGER SEAT USING THE RECLINE BUTTONS IN THE TRUNK. SHE ACCIDENTALLY PUSHED THE RECLINE BUTTON FOR THE HALF OF THE ROW THE BABY CAR SEAT IS IN INSTEAD OF THE SIDE OF THE ROW WITH AN EMPTY SEAT. AGAIN, THE WHOLE THIRD ROW POPPED APART FROM THE FLOOR AT ITS BASE. TO FIX IT I UNINSTALLED THE CAR SEAT AND THEN REINSTALLED THE THIRD ROW BENCH AND THEN THE CAR SEAT AGAIN. THIS SECOND INCIDENT GOT ME WONDERING HOW MUCH PRESSURE IT TAKES FOR THE THIRD ROW TO DETACH FROM THE FLOOR? I'M CONCERNED THAT IN AN ACCIDENT THE WHOLE BACK OF THE CAR WOULD BECOME VERY DANGEROUS AND SEAT BELTS AND CAR SEATS WOULD DO LITTLE TO PROTECT ANYONE FROM A FLOATING BENCH. BY PUTTING THE CAR SEAT IN PLACE AND TIGHTENING THE RECLINE WE MUST BE PUTTING A LOT OF PRESSURE ON THE FLOOR ATTACHMENTS AND ANY ADDED PRESSURE POTENTIALLY PULLS IT RIGHT OFF. THAT SEEMS LIKE A HUGE DESIGN FLAW. IN THE MANUAL ALL IT SAYS IS: IN A COLLISION, YOU OR OTHERS IN YOUR VEHICLE COULD BE INJURED IF SEATS ARE NOT PROPERLY LATCHED TO THEIR FLOOR ATTACHMENTS. ALWAYS BE SURE THE SEATS ARE FULLY LATCHED.*DT *JB *DT*JB*DT*JB

IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 4 MONTHS AND IT HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED PER THE WARRANTY. CHRYSLER CLAIMS THE WINDSHIELD IS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER WITH NO ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL. A CRACKED WINDSHIELD IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT IMPEDES MY VISIBILITY. CHRYSLER HAS NOT OFFERED ANY ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS, ONLY TO WAIT. CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS BEEN SLOW TO RESPOND AND RUDE. DEFECTIVE GLASS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG CHRYSLER PACIFICAS, AS WELL AS AN INABILITY TO FULFILL THE WARRANTY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.

CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR HELP WITH FINDING CARSEATS THAT FIT FORWARD FACING IN THEIR MIDDLE ROW CAPTAINS STOW AND GO SEATS DUE TO THE EXTREME TILT THEIR SECOND ROW HEADRESTS HAVE WHICH ARE NON REMOVABLE IN THE SECOND ROW OF THE VAN. HENCE MOST PEOPLE ARE UNKNOWINGLY INSTALLING THEIR CARSEATS INCORRECTLY BRACED AGAINST THE HEADRESTS OR HAVE THEM PUSHING THE CARSEAT HEADREST FORWARD WHICH ALMOST ALL CAR SEAR MANUFACTURES DO NOT ALLOW. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR SO MANY CHILDREN AND EVEN GOING TO CPSTS MAY NOT HELP AS IT BASICALLY FORCES THE CONSUMER TO BUY NEW SEATS WHICH THEY MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD SO THEY LIKELY WILL NOT AND WILL CONTINUE USING THE UNSAFE CAR SEAT.

OCCURS IN VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS FROM FOG, CLEAR DAY, RAIN, ETC. OCCURS IN MOTION AND WHEN CAR HAS BEEN STILL/STOPPED (IN DRIVEWAY.) SYSTEM ALERTS AND THEN AUTOMATICALLY DEACTIVATES ITSELF. I DON'T KNOW THAT MANUFACTURER AND DEALERS HAVE FULL UNDERSTANDING OF BEHAVIOR; ESPECIALLY THE DETECTION OF WHAT THE CAR BELIEVES ARE NO HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL/FEEDBACK TORQUE.

PACIFICA HYBRID, TWO INCIDENTS: FIRST WAS ON FREEWAY, FAST LANE, DRIVING NORMALLY WITH ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN ALL ACCELERATION AND SLOWED. I WAS ABLE TO PRESS THE BRAKE AND STOP. THE FRONT CONSOLE LIT UP WITH MANY WARNINGS INCLUDING THE FRONTAL COLLISION WARNINGS. I WAS NOT CLOSE TO CAR IN FRONT OF ME BUT A MOTORCYCLE HAD SPLIT LANE PASSED ME VERY CLOSELY AND CUT IN. I HAD TO POWER OFF MY CAR AND START IT TWICE BEFORE IT WOULD GO FORWARD. I TOOK CAR FOR SERVICE, CHRYSLER DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG, REPLACED A COMPUTER MODULE, GAVE IT BACK. LESS THAN ONE WEEK LATER, THE CAR AGAIN SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION AND BRAKED. SAME LARGE SET OF WARNINGS APPEARED. BUT THIS TIME THE CAR DIDN'T ALLOW ME TO PRESS THE BRAKES. I WAS TRAVELING ON CITY STREETS LESS THAN 30 MPH BUT HAD LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND BRAKING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUED TO ROLL INTO AN INTERSECTION AT ABOUT 7MPH. THE BRAKE PEDAL LITERALLY PUSHED BACK AGAINST MY FOOT. I GAVE IT BACK TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP WHERE IT'S BEEN EVER SINCE. CAR HAS 1100 MILES ON IT PURCHASED JULY 14TH, REGISTRATION ON 7/16. APPROXIMATELY 300 MILES OF THE CAR WAS THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TRYING TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. NOW CHRYSLER CORPORATE CARES IS TELLING ME IT'S STILL UNDER DIAGNOSIS (CAR HASN'T EVEN BEEN TURNED ON IN MORE THAN 10 DAYS) AND THAT THE ONLY WAY I WOULD GET RESOLUTION IS THROUGH ARBITRATION "A FREE SERVICE". MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WAITING FOR CHRYSLER STAR (HIGHEST LEVEL ENGINEERING) TO EVEN GET TO THE CASE. I WANTED TO REPORT THE SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE RESOLUTION STEPS FOR PEOPLE TO FOLLOW BUT UNFORTUNATELY I CAN'T. CHRYSLER MIGHT EVEN TRY TO GIVE THIS VEHICLE BACK TO ME AGAIN (WHICH I DON'T WANT). NOTE: DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN VERY STAND-UP. THE PROBLEM IS CHRYSLER CORPORATE.

I JUST WANT THIS THING FIXED. 3 MONTHS IS JUST RIDICULOUS. THIS IS AS MUCH A SAFETY PROBLEM AS IT IS AN INCONVENIENCE.

A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE EXISTS WITH ELECTRIC SLIDING AND RAISE/LOWER TAIL GATE DOORS. THIS IS MY THIRD CHRYSLER PACIFIC, 2014, 2017, AND NOW 2019. ON THIS 2019, IT DOES HAVE ONE DOOR, THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDER, THAT HAS A WARNING BUZZER IF LEFT OPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE DRIVE IS ENGAGED, AND ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO MOVE IN REVERSE. THAT WARNING DOES NOT EXIST IF THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN FORWARD AND IT DOES NOT EXIST AT ALL FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER. SO MANY TIMES, WE INADVERTENTLY AND UNKNOWINGLY DRIVE OFF WITH SLIDERS OPEN AND/OR TAIL GATE OPEN. THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WITH THE DANGER OF ITEMS UNKNOWINGLY FALLING OUT WHILE TRAVELING. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT CHILDREN OR ANIMALS COULD FALL OUT. THE VEHICLE SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO BE DRIVEN IF EITHER SLIDER IS OPEN. NOR SHOULD THE CAR BE ABLE TO BE DRIVEN WITH THE TAIL GATE DOOR OPEN. WHILE THERE COULD BE AN OCCASION WITH THE CUSTOMER MIGHT INTENTIONALLY NEED TO HAVE THE TAIL DOOR OPEN TO ACCOMMODATE AND OVER-LENGTH ITEM, THERE SHOULD BE A BY-PASS SWITCH WITH A CONTINUOUSLY LIT WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH. TO COMBAT DRIVING WITH THE TAILGATE DOOR OPEN, WE HAVE PLACED SEVERAL NARROW VERTICAL STRIPS OF TAKE ON THE BACK WINDOW TO ALERT THE DRIVER. WITHOUT THAT TAPE IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE DRIVER TO BE AWARE OF THE OPEN TAILGATE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ANNOYING. TYPICALLY, IF THE CLOSE BUTTON IS PRESSED TO LOWER THE TAIL GATE DOOR OR THE SLIDERS TO, IF THE DOOR ENCOUNTERS SOME OBJECT AS IT IS CLOSING, IT WILL RETRACT TO THE FULLY OPEN POSITION WITHOUT THE DRIVERS KNOWLEDGE. THIS SHOULD BE TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A NEW PACIFICA FOR OVER A WEEK NOW AND I KNOW THE ELECTRONIC START/STOP SYSTEM IS JUNK OVERALL. ON A FEW OCCASIONS, IT SEEMS THE ENGINE RE-ENGAGES WITH A SHUDDER AND HAS DELAYED US FROM GETTING ONTO A ROAD WHICH IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME OR GETTING INTO TRAFFIC FLOW. THIS FEATURE SHOULD HAVE AN ABILITY TO BE PERMANENTLY DISABLED BY THE OWNER IF UNWANTED INSTEAD OF HAVING TO PRESS A BUTTON EACH TIME THE CAR STARTS. WE PRESS THE BUTTON EVERY TIME, BUT THE FACT WE HAVE TO PRESS THIS EVERY TIME WE START THE PACIFICA IS IRRITATING. HONESTLY, THE ESS SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE FAULTY IN IMPLEMENTATION.

THE STEERING WHEEL PULLS TO THE RIGHT OR TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. HAPPENS RANDOMLY ' NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. WHEN DRIVING AT 60-65 AND PASSING A SLOWER VEHICLE, IT OFTEN REQUIRES FIRMLY GUIDING THE CAR AGAINST RESISTANCE BACK TO THE LANE. REQUIRES DRIVING WHILE GRASPING THE STEERING WHEEL FIRMLY TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM VEERING FROM ITS PATH. WILL ALSO OCCUR AT LOWER SPEEDS BUT NOT AS OFTEN. ALSO, WHEN DRIVING ON AN EXPRESSWAY THE STEERING, SOMETIMES BUT NOT EVERY TIME, BECOMES UNSTABLE IF A TRUCK PASSES IT. IN THOSE INSTANCES, IT VEERS TO EITHER THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT. THE CONCERN IS THAT IT COULD VEER DIRECTLY INTO THE PASSING VEHICLE IF THE DRIVER IS LESS THAN ALERT AND NOT FIRMLY GRASPING THE STEERING WHEEL. DURING A LIFETIME OF DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER BEFORE EXPERIENCED A VEHICLE THAT FELT AS DANGEROUS AS THIS ONE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO PROCLAIMED IT IN PERFECT RUNNING ORDER. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE CHRYSLER (CASE NUMBER 58533009) AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND TRY TO CONVINCE THEM TO TAKE IT ON A TEST DRIVE. HOWEVER, THE DEALER SAID THEY TEST DROVE IT, WHICH IS DOUBTFUL SINCE THE MILEAGE NUMBER DID NOT CHANGE WHILE IT WAS IN THEIR HANDS. THE DEALER HIGHLIGHTED A COMMENT ON A REPORT TITLED 08-ELECTRICAL/BE-ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES/MODULE, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPSM)/DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION THAT READS: VARIABLE SERVO STEERING: WHEN THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE IS INCREASED, THE MODULE REDUCES THE AMOUNT OF ASSISTANCE TO THE COLUMN. POSSIBLY CHRYSLER, IN THAT STATEMENT IS REVEALING THAT THE STEERING MECHANISM IS UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
