I made an appointment August 2nd, 2024 at Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort for my airbag recall. They told me they didn’t have the parts, but would call me when they were in. They never did. I made another appointment for April 6th, 2026, almost two years later. I was called again yesterday saying they do not have the parts, but would call me when they were in. How long does it take for recalls to be fixed? What if I was in an accident and the air bags didn’t deploy and my passenger was severely injured or killed? Unacceptable.

There is a transmission recall for 2009 to 2017 Chevrolet traverses. My traverse has the exact same transmission and engine as the recall but for some reason GM decided not to add my Vin to the recall. My vehicle is experiencing the exact same issues recorded in the recall. I called the GM dealership who could not help. I called [XXX] directly who told me that customers can’t make any decisions like that. This is unacceptable. If there is an issue with my vehicle due to a recall, then my VIN should have been part of the recall so that I can have the issue fixed. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request: *Drivers side airbag component malfunctioned *Yes the vehicle is available for inspection How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? *The drivers side airbag component has been ruptured since 2024 and given that the bag could deploy and kill me the driver along with others in the car is very scary and dangerous Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? *I have been trying to have this resolved with Capital Chevrolet in Wake Forest NC since Sept of 2024. They keep giving me the runaround and even made an appointment for me this morning after multiple calls to have the recall resolved. I took my 2017 Traverse into the service department and received a call around 12:37 stating the "parts were not in the service center". I was told 2 days ago when the appointment was made that the parts were available to complete the recall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? *Only inspected by Capital Chevrolet In Wake Forest twice (1st time when I took the Traverse in for the wheel recall then again today) Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? *The only warning lamp was for the wheel recall but not the drivers side airbag. The drivers side airbag component just popped loose around July 2024. I starting calling Capital Chevrolet and finally reached a service advisor call center in Sept 2024 to attempt to schedule an appointment.
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINEJanuary 30, 2026
Since I acquired the vehicle at around 100k miles, there is a transmission shift wobble at 30mph, 40mph, 45mph, 60mph and 65mph. I drove a manual transmission for over 10yrs prior to this vehicle and when this transmission wobble happens, I just reved a bit and let the gas go so it shifts better into the next gear. I just got used to it, my worry began when the wobble would happen while on cruise control. No check engine light comes on, there’s no computer codes registering, it just shakes and wobbles like the tranny is gna give out around those speeds.
SEAT BELTSJanuary 19, 2026
I went to pull seat belt across me and the whole belt including the box that is attached by a wire cable came with it. It's no longer attached to the floor. I didn't have any signs that it was lose or anything it just broke when I got into my seat getting ready to leave my home.
POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPERSeptember 10, 2025
The component/system that is malfunctioning is coding P-0826. Dealership says replace Transmission.Based on my experience with the vehicle, the transmission is not the main issue. There are symptoms of an electrical issue that is causing the vehicle to lose power, rough shift, stutter and hard shift. This situation began when traveling back from GA to NC. After having stopped at a rest stop, I proceeded to get back on the highway and the vehicle hesitated to accelerate as I merged on to the highway. There were no warming lights, dashboard signaling or anything that happened prior to this to warm of this unsafe issue. With traffic behind me already at speeds of 70mph+, this situation could potentially have caused an accident in which I would have been unable to avoid because the car decelerated, hesitated and did not leave me with anyway to maneuver out of the lane. I fortunately was in the merge lane, which I had to constantly tap on the accelerator in order to get the vehicle to shift into the next gear and finally surpass 40 mph so that I could get back on the highway, potentially being able to maintain a safe speed. The vehicle then jolted after reaching 40mph and then after tapping the accelerator again, I was able to increase my speed. Upon returning to NC, I sought mechanical services from the dealership. They had last serviced the vehicle in October 2024, an oil change and put an additive in the engine. The dealership not only was not helpful, but they were unable to diagnose an issue because the vehicle had no check engine light or any dashboard warnings during the entirety of this issue. It was suggested that I get the spark plugs changed, since they considered it may be a misfire within the system. The spark plug change made it worse, eventually the car shook violently while at a red light and the dashboard lights came on and the car did not exceed 15mph. The car was serviced again and the coils were replaced. The problem still persists.

It's been a year now I've been waiting for my 2017 Chevy Traverse to replace the "SAFETY RECALL" on driver's air bag inflator to be replace by this Dealership. Their neglecting the safety issue that it may explode during deployment due to a manufacturing defect. They schedule me three times, one last year on my maintenance service and two times last month, ever since I got this "SAFETY RECALL" notification from this Dealership, after I waited at their waiting area for 2 hour, Service will say to me that they have no replacement parts for my vehicle. Why schedule and tell me on text messages that you have the replacement part for my vehicle? You don't value your customers and you don't care about the safety of the driver. I'm not recommending a friend to buy on this Dealership. Lucky a friend of mine ask, went to buy her first Chevy Tracks at Bellevue, WA. The Transfer Case exploded causing the drive shaft to bend and the powering steering line to be damaged and all of the parts listed above need to be replaced. There was a loud explosion while driving and the vehicle no longer drove properly and I was unable to steer the vehicle. The problem was inspected and confirmed by an independent service center. No, it happened out of the blue while driving. The service center could not figure out how something like this could have happened without the car being in an accident or something hitting the transfer case which did not happen. It happened when proceeding from a stopped position while continuing after waiting at a stop light.

The battery tray located behind the passenger seat in the floor was compromised by a piece of steel debris on the highway. The battery split in half and battery acid came through the access door in the floor which was also inadequately secured. The door flew into the compartment along with battery acid from the split battery. and came disconnected exposing the passenger compartment. The vehicle is still available for inspection. My wife was struck by battery acid, luckily she had on a winter jacket protecting her arm, the sleeve was completely coated. She did receive minor 1st degree burns on her face and evidence of abrasions on her right cornea as well. If anyone was in the back seat the passengers would have suffered major leg injuries from the impact and flying debris. They would have had major chemical burns from the battery acid entering the passenger area, the acid completely coated the back seat and passenger rear door as well as the headliner. The vehicle has not het been to a dealer due to pending legal actions and insurance review. No inspection of the component has been done as of yet. There were no warning indicators present.

The complaint is GM has yet to provide parts for a recall issued in May 2023. It is August 2024. Anyone that drives our 2017 Traverse will/may put their life in real danger if there is an accident where the driver side air bag sends shrapnel out. There doesn't seem to be any urgency on GM's part to provide remedy. GM's recall statement says to REPLACE THE AIRBAG. So far, we have had zero incidents that would cause the airbag to inflate. My intent is to file a complaint. I received a notification about a recall that was issued May 10, 2023 related to the driver's side airbag inflator that will may "rupture and cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants." I have contacted the dealership that sold the vehicle to me ten times in the past year, and their response has continually been that the parts are not available at this time. Today I was told that GM does not have a remedy to fix this problem. I contacted GM and was told that a part has been developed to solve the problem but manufacturing is slow and I will be notified when a part for my vehicle is available. I asked to have the airbag turned off until the part is available. I was told that GM dealers are prohibited from turning off safety items like airbags. i wanted to mitigate the possibility of metal fragments impaling me or another passenger. My complaint is that GM has known about this dangerous, defective part for over a year and there is no solution. I shouldn't have to ride in a vehicle with these safety concerns for this long. Please persuade them to hurry this process up while me and my family continue to need this vehicle to transport us safely to work and events. Our 2017 Chevy Traverse was recalled over a year ago due to a known issue with the airbag which has shot pieces of metal killing drivers and passengers. A year later we are still left without a resolution for our vehicle. Several attempts to work with the company has proved unsuccessful. The vehicle has now been out of service 365 days which is beyond the acceptable time period for resolving this type of safety issue. A reasonable resolution would be a repair, buy-back, loaner vehicle, or replacement.

This recall is a safety recall and GM should but back the vehicles. The airbags are to help with impacts. I am still waiting for them to figure out how to fix this problem.

Reported to Chevy. They continued to tell me over and over sorry. If you get into an accident there is a remedy but as of now there is not. No dealer can help you. No rental. No money back. They told me to trade it in. You clearly have it stated in other documents it’s illegal for sale or trade. So what the heck am I supposed to do. The air bag light comes on off and on. I have video to prove it.

Received recall notice and have been waiting ever since for GM to actually follow through with the recall. They don’t seem to care and I have two vehicles that falls under the recall. How the government hasn’t stepped up knowing that this issue can cause death is beyond me. What’s the point of a national recall if the manufacture isn’t forced to do something about the recall? No more GM products in my future.

I received a recall notice #N232404980 in June 2023 and after months of hearing from no one, I reached out to my dealership who said they had no parts to replace/repair this recall. After checking with GM today 1/17/24 they still do not have pats to repair this. This is 8 months since this recall was announced and I would think that is sufficient time to get parts to fix this. When you send someone a notice to tell them their car has a defect which has the potential to "result in injury or death to vehicle occupants" I should think they would beworking a little faster to get these parts. I am extremely unhappy with the way GM has handled this and feel like someone needs to get involved to get this resolved.

POWER TRAINOctober 20, 2023
the transmission on my 2017 chevy traverse began shuddering in August 2023 after our family came back from vacation it usually happens between 2nd and 3rd gear and /or 4th and 5th gear going to 60mph. I had changed the transmission fluid around 60M miles per the manufacturers recommendation. I performed and flush and fill with new dexron VI full synthetic transmission fluid on 10/14/23, after the flush and fill the transmission ran better for about a week but it had gotten worse since then. I constantly worry that the transmission will fail when I am on the road and possibly cause and accident. I don't have another vehicle to use , my next option is to take it to the dealer to see what they can do but based on the reports i have read I know that there is no easy fix. I really would like to have Chevy or GM come up with a resolution for all the folks that have this same problem.
POWER TRAINOctober 18, 2023
My Chevrolet Traverse was purchased in July 2019. At that time, the vehicle had 58667 miles. As I drove the vehicle over the next year and half or so, approaching 80000 miles the vehicle would shudder/shake/jerk as I accelerated and shifted gears. At first it was very random and not predictable. The first two times I had my mechanic try to diagnose the issue, they were not able to feel the car doing what I was describing. The issue got worse and more frequent. I took the car to a transmission repair shop in August 2021 at approximately 120000. At this point, the jerk/shake occurred almost every time I shifted gears when traveling at speeds less than 50mph. I was told that a transmission flush/service would help with the issue temporarily but that many Chevrolet/GM models are known to have faulty transmissions and it would eventually need to be replaced. I've parked this vehicle for a majority of the past two years. A combination of COVID and the option to telecommute along with having a spare vehicle in the family, I was able to only drive the Traverse when absolutely necessary. I'm not the only one who has experienced this same shudder/jerk for a 6-cyclinder transmission. There are class action lawsuits out there for other GM models with a similar problem. I'm bringing this to your attention now because it has become as safety issue for me and my family. The last three times I've driven my Traverse, I was unable to accelerate efficiently in traffic which created driving hazards for myself and those traveling around me. The transmission put in this vehicle is faulty and should have been recalled along with the many others over the last couple years. I want this on record and other GM 6-cylinder transmissions reviewed for the same safety concerns.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving between the 1500 - 2000 RPMs the engine would begin to feel as if it were misfiring. The vehicle would seem to hesitate and jerk whenever accelerating as if there was a delayed throttle response. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer twice at which time the spark plugs and boots had been replaced. Sometime after doing so, while driving approximately 35 MPH there was suddenly grinding noise coming from the front-end. After slowing down to approximately 20 MPH, in response to the grinding noise, the vehicle suddenly jerked then stalled. There were no warning lights. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

Contacted, by phone, Uftring Chevrolet, located in Washington, Illinois, to request air bag to be fixed due to recall issued by General Motors (Manufacturer Recall NumberN232404980 NHTSA Recall Number23V334) on May 18, 2023 and again on September 28, 2023. I was told that GM has not offered a remedy for the recall. Dealership did not replace the air bag after two requests to do so. According to the recall's own information, "Safety Risk-An inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle interior, which may result in injury or death to vehicle occupants. Remedy-Dealers will replace the front-driver airbag module." Dealership notified me through their phone system that all calls are recorded documenting my two requests to fix my Chevrolet Traverse.

I have been waiting for nearly 5 months for there to be a remedy available for NHTSA campaign #23V334. I called the local Chevrolet Dealership in Champaign, Illinois and they were unable to assist me. I also called Chevrolet customer service to try and get an estimated time frame as to when a remedy will be available. However, they were unable to assist either, and could not provide me with an estimated time frame for repairs. My 2017 Chevrolet Traverse is a family vehicle. I do not feel safe using this vehicle for my family’s transportation needs when the same airbag has resulted in fatalities/injuries in the US. The manufacturer is taking too long to devise a solution for this safety issue. I am hoping there may be a solution with a third party to manufacture a safe and reliable airbag.

For the already known air bag recall for my vehicle, I have called GM and clearly stated how uncomfortable and unsafe I feel driving my vehicle with such a dangerous malfunction that is meant to save my life, not take it. They told me there was no way they could help, but for me to be patient. I live in a bumpy and windy area, and from other reports, I know can set off the airbags. As for the automatic braking system, we were driving on the freeway with no vehicles or objects in front or even beside us when the system kicked in with the red light and alarm sound while braking immediately and even had my steering wheel lock up. I was able to regain control a minute later, but we were close to a curve in the road that I may have not been able to turn with my steering wheel locked up, as well as a vehicle behind me having to hit their own brakes and quickly change lanes due to our vehicle suddenly braking. I have been to a dealership for diagnosing but they told me they could find nothing out of ordinary. Given I did not trust these mechanics as they have lied before to get money from us and have missed other problems that were easily diagnosed at another mechanic we have seen. Our small town only has few choices of mechanics or dealerships.

There is a recall for our this vehicle that was initiated in May because our airbag inflator may explode causing death or serious injury. We have yet to be provided with a fix, and have been denied a loaner vehicle because the dealerships don't want to part with their limited # of loaners for an undetermined amount of time. We are being told to continue driving around ourselves and our young children and one dealership told us "you probably wouldn't die". This is alarming that they are not providing an immediate fix, even at greater cost to the company, and are rolling the dice on safety.

I have filed a complaint on www.carcomplaints.com, NHTSA, and have contacted the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from 3 different times. I have also contacted GM customer service and voiced my concern for a safety issue not having a remedy and we are already a month and a half into the recall. I was informed from GM customer service that if "I haven't heard anything within a couple of months, to call back." I also asked if it was possible to get a rental car until a remedy can become available. I was informed they would escalate that request and if I haven't heard anything back in a week, to call them back. That was yesterday, June 23rd, 2023. Passenger side mirror blind spot detection started flickering and then remained on while the vehicle is in park and in motion. Shortly afterwards it stopped working all together and began receiving a service side detection warning light on dashboard. While backing up the camera still working but there is no sensor working that detects close people or vehicles. Extremely dangerous for little kids that almost ran behind vehicle. While driving down the highway, I was almost involved in accidents while attempting to make a lane change and did not see vehicle in next lane as it was in blindspot. Issue seems to be very wide spread with this model. A service bulletin was issued for Acadia (same design as the Traverse) for same detection warning. GM dealership reported that the issue is also common which is why the parts needed for repair are on a backorder status with no ETA. NHTSA needs to take action.

Unknown- I received an email from carfax alerting me there was a takata airbag recall on my car. When I called the dealership to get more information, they said at that time, there was no resolution but should have one May 24th. Today is 05/27/2023 and there is still currently no resolution. There have already been deaths and injuries resulting from this airbag issue for other makes and models. I don't feel safe knowing there could be an issue with the airbags. I am wondering how soon before there is a resolution and can rental cars be covered under warranty until repairs are made?
STEERINGMay 24, 2023
Steering wheel randomly gets tight and difficult to turn. Eventually gets to a point where it won't turn. This doesn't occur all the time but randomly. No warning lights go on. Took to mechanic. Didn't happen to them when tested. But they flushed steering fluid and refilled. Taking the car back home. Again steering wheel got tight and difficult to turn. Got to a point where you couldn't turn again.

The steering pump is faulty and the car only has 56,00o miles on it. I have read other people’s same issue on the internet. It is extremely dangerous because you cannot control the steering on the car and you could possibly injure yourself or someone else. 04/08/2023

gm issued a warranty extension/ service bulletin for the rear blind spot modules for water intrusion which can cause the airbag light to illuminate as well as shut off other features of the vehicle on the gmc acadia and other models while excluding the traverse, which is essentially the same vehicle as the traverse. the vehicle listed above is currently experiencing the blind spot module failure, which in turn is causing thee vehicle to stall unexpectedly, blinkers do not function intermittently, remote start does not function intermittently, door locks do not function unless locked from inside the vehicle intermittently and will not start intermittently. all of these concerns are alleviated by replacing the blind spot modules.

For over two months now I have been dealing with GM as well as different dealerships and auto mechanics to try and repair a safety feature on my 2017 Chev Traverse. I have been told by all of them the same issue or needing items replaced yet there are NO parts. They have been on back order for 1+ years with no ETA in sight. This is now causing the computer in the vehicle to malfunction to cause more damage that also cannot yet be repaired. New issue while driving my vehicle - the entire dash cluster goes black (all still tied to the same issue). Speedometer and all gauges drop to 0 (zero) as if the car was not running or turned on. After a few minutes it came back on with every single service/ error light on the dash. This happened 4 times in the span of half an hour drive. GM's aware and not backing their product or helping get parts to repair, yet I am out the money of the car and a car payment for a vehicle that is unsafe. What options do I have as a consumer? How are these safety features helping when they cannot be fixed, ordered, or repaired. Who's liable for this? Why can't this be recalled and corrected? There are many articles as well as service bulletins from GM about this known issue involving not only my year, make and model but also the Chevy Cruze, Impala, Acadia (N172097060 - Special Coverage - Side Blind Zone Alert Module Water Intrusion) and I would like to know how to file a claim, have this be investigated, and get the problem solved not out of my pocket so that I have a vehicle with features to keep me as well as other individuals safe on the road that I pay for. Why is it that GM is allowed to continue using these parts they know are faulty, and need a shield protector to protect against this exact problem but wont cover there own vehicle and product?

SERVICE BRAKESJanuary 8, 2023
I have owned GM vehicles approximately 50 years and have never had brake issues on a vehicle in any of those years. I have always purchased new vehicles and the vehicle was/is a one person ownership. The current vehicle of concern and consideration is a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse with approximately 21,000 miles. Currently the 6 year old vehicle required all brakes and rotors to be replaced as well as a rear driver side caliper. The garage owner had never realized such an early required brake replacement($967.10) as was required, especially with driving habits less than 3500 miles annually. I did contact General Motors Customer Care and their recommendation was to send this incident report to NHTSA for research and consideration. I am in possession of a receipt indicating service performed on my vehicle 1/6/2023 by a professional mechanic and auto service garage in Sodus, New York. I am deeply concerned about the safety and disappointed with the untimely short “wear” of the braking system. Further consideration and recommendation will be appreciated. Thank you for the immediate attention to my issue and I look forward to hearing from someone. Respectfully submitted

The electrical in the car is bad. I know others with Chevrolets and are having the same issue. The power windows nor doors work on my passenger side with the key or door controls. Also their is a squeaking noise when braking in my brake pedal. With new pads and rotors the car don’t stop smoothly, feel vibration in the steering wheel. The car is already having an error for the EVAP canister purge control valve. The car isn’t tht old to be needing to replace this already.

7/5/22 it has now been over a month since we started to have our car serviced at Ourisman Chevrolet of Bowie. On 7/3/22 while driving up a hill in our neighborhood the engine shut off, the brakes gave out, and the power steering stopped working. Had we been anywhere else my children, husband, and I could be dead from being in a serious car accident. This problem was confirmed by the dealer and reported to be caused by a "defective part" being installed. When I inquired about why there wasn't a recall for this part I was informed that it is a rare defect but they the service department receives a vehicle with identical problems every 3-4 months. We received no warning lamps, messages, or other signs that this was going to happen. During the week of Memorial Day we noticed the fuel gauge misreading and the air conditioning blowing warm. This problem was repeatedly reported. The air conditioning was repaired. The fuel gauge continues to misread.

I purchased this vehicle in June, 2021 and had noticed that it sometimes lurched forward a few feet when I applied the brakes. I made an appointment to have the vehicle’s brakes checked. While merging onto 12th Street in Rochester, MN at less than 15 mph, I had to apply brakes suddenly to avoid stopped car in front of me. The brakes worked but the car also accelerated and smashed into the stopped car in front of us, leaving a dent in that car’s rear fender, smashing our headlight shield, and making it difficult for our driver side door to open because the fender and door had to space between them. There were 6 similar complaints about 2017 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles at carcomplaints.com, where I also posted. I called the national phone line for General Motors because I was concerned about safety. GM sent an investigator to my home to take photos and electronic codes. They set up a claim for me, although I was only looking for a potential safety recall. Weeks later, they contacted me to say my claim was denied. When I asked for more details, they told me the engineers had concluded that I stepped on the gas rather than the brake. This didn’t make sense to me since both the brake and the accelerator had engaged. The gas pedal is recessed far closer to the floor than the brake pedal. While it is possible that my boot could have pressed on each of them at the same time since I reacted quickly, it's unlikely. I also wonder if the cruise control had engaged since, on this vehicle, it doesn't turn off and require you to turn it on again when you stop the engine and restart it. I requested the engineering data, which they sent me and I kept.

The high pressure power steering lines in this vehicle are leaking due the proximity of the power steering lines to the coolant lines. Over time they rub against each other and eventually fail resulting in a loss of power steering fluid and a loss of power steering. GM has known about this since Technical Service Bulletin 13-02-32-001E was issued in December 2017, but has failed to notify the customer. This is a safety issue that GM needs to take care of.

PICS SHOW BOTH SIDES AFTER DEFROSTING FOR 20 MIN.

NOTICED A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA WHEN I ACCELERATED AND TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAPPENED IN THE CITY AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT TO TWO MECHANICS WHO BOTH DIAGNOSED IT WITH A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THEY SAID THERE IS A HOLE. THIS CAR IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD AND THIS IS NOT NORMAL. ALSO, MY CAR CONTINUES TO DIE WHEN NOT IN MOTION. ALTHOUGH MY CAR SAYS THE BATTERY IS CHARGED, WHEN I GO TO START MY CAR IT WON'T START. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE NOTHING IS LEFT ON IN HER CAR. IT STARTED DOING THIS TWO WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT IT AND IT HAS CONTINUED SINCE NICE THEN. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT NORMAL EITHER.

MY ENGINE, WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, MADE A LOUD CRANKING NOISE. IT SOUNDED LIKE LARGE METAL PIECES GRINDING TOGETHER. THE ENTIRE CAR WOULD THEN RUMBLE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON. AFTER SITTING FOR A WHILE IT WOULD STOP. THE RUMBLING WOULD HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY TIME MY VEHICLE IS AT A STANDSTILL. IT WOULD ALSO DO A JERKING MOTION WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THE GM REPAIR MECHANICS SAID IT WAS A SMALL VALVE. THEY REPLACED IT BUT THE SAME THING CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. MY CAR WAS BRAND NEW WHEN I PURCHASED IT IN 2017.

THE METAL TRACKS FOR THE REAR CAPTAIN PASSENGER SEATS HAS RUSTED BADLY AND NO LONGER LOCKS IN!! WHEN I APPLY BRAKES, THE SEATS SLIDE ALL THE WAY UP TO OUR FRONT SEATS. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT SEVERAL OTHER METAL INTERIOR SURFACES HAS RUSTED ALSO. THESE INCLUDE THE DOOR HINGES, INSIDE THE SEATBELTS AND ALL THE METAL FRAME OF THE REAR SEATS. DYER CHEVROLET IN VERO BEACH, FL HAS THE VEHICLE TODAY FOR THE FIRST ATTEMPT AT GIVING US A SAFE VEHICLE. THIS CONDITION WAS FIRST REPORTED TO OUR DEALER ON 8-20-18, AND WE WERE JUST CALLED BACK IN THIS WEEK AND WERE TOLD THAT SOME PARTS CAME IN BUT MY SERVICE TECH COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT PARTS OR WHAT THEY INTENDED TO DO.

CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY. DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A CODE IN THE SYSTEM SHOWING THAT IT HAD COME ONE. THEN AS I'M DRIVING WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR, THE TRACTION LIGHT COMES ON RANDOMLY, IT STARTS WANTING TO TURN OFF ON ITSELF. MIND YOU I'M ON A VERY BUSY STREET WITH MORONS GOING OVER 60 MPH BEHIND ME. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT! I WENT TO ADVANCE AUTO CAUSE I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS MY BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH ITS A BRAND NEW CAR. NO. IT WASN'T THEY TESTED IT AND EVERYTHING. SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOOK IT IN FOR A DAY TO THEN TELL ME THAT IT IS SHOWING BATTERY CODES. I HAD JUST CHECKED THE BATTERY THE DAY BEFORE! SO I KNEW IT WASN'T THAT, BUT THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. SO TO PLAY IT SAFE, I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY. I HAD THE PLACE I BOUGHT THE NEW ONE FROM TEST MY OLD BATTERY AND BIG SHOCKER THE TEST CAME BACK AS A GOOD BATTERY. SO I SPENT THE MONEY FOR A UNNECESSARY BATTERY. A MONTH GOES BY AND NOTHING HAPPENS. THEN ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AGO MY SCREEN STARTS COMPLAINING ABOUT "DISK ERROR" THE DVD SYSTEM ISN'T EVEN ON, AND I'M NOT PLAYING MUSIC ON IT EITHER SO IT SHOULDN'T BE SHOWING ME "DISK ERROR" EVEN IF THERE WAS A DISK IN IT. THE [XXX] THING WAS OFF! AND YESTERDAY MY HUSBAND GOES TO DRIVE THE CAR AND IT STARTS ACTING CRAZY AGAIN WANTING TO TURN OFF ON ITSELF. SO I'M DONE. IT'S A HAZARD TO MY FAMILY TO OWN THIS CAR. ALSO, I HEARD FROM AN ACQUAINTANCE THAT OWNS THE SAME CAR BUT AN OLDER MODEL THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING TO HER VEHICLE TOO, AND THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL BUT BECAUSE OURS IS NEWER IT ISN'T COVERED. SO WE GOT SCREWED WITH THIS VEHICLE. THANKS GM. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS DRIVING RIGHT BEHIND ME OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT.

THE FIRST TIME I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I WAS STOPPED TO PUMP GAS, TRIED TO START VEHICLE AND IT WOULD JUST MAKE A SHAKING AND START BUT NOT TURN OVER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY SAID AN ISSUE WITH DEFECTIVE PART, FIXED IT AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN AS SO AS THEY TURNED IT ON SAID IT WAS THE ECM. THE SECOND TIME I HAD AN ISSUE WAS MUCH MORE SEVERE. I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND HIT ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE, MINOR DAMAGE, HOWEVER THE CAR WAS JOLTED FORWARD AND COMPLETELY DISABLED ITSELF, SHUTTING OFF COMPLETELY, AND NEVER ACTIVATED THE ON CALL, OR SOS. JUST THRUSTED FORWARD AND SHUT WHOLE CAR DOWN. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO START AFTER A FEW MINUTES, HOWEVER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE CAR ENGINE IS SHAKING AGAIN. BOTH TIMES CAR IS UNDRIVABLE, AND NEEDED TOWED. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR UNDER 3 MONTHS.

THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH. WHILE DRIVING ALL OF A SUDDEN MY DASH STARTS FLASHING TRACTION CONTROL OFF & THEN FLASHES SERVICE STABILITYTRAC & MY ENGINE LOSES POWER AND STARTS JERKING KIND OF LIKE YOUR ARE RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THIS LASTS UNTIL YOU STOP AND TURN OFF THE CAR FOR ABOUT 5 MIN THEN RESTART IT. BUT IT KEEPS HAPPENING WHEN I GET BACK ON THE INTERSTATE.

WE OWN A 2017 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE WITH 8 PASSENGER SEATING. THE SECOND SEAT MIDDLE SEATBELT ANCHORS ARE VERY PAINFUL TO PASSENGERS. THE ANCHORS ARE ENTIRELY TOO STIFF AND STICK STRAIGHT OUT FROM THE 90 DEGREE POINT OF THE SEAT WITH NO "GIVE" AT ALL. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A PASSENGERS TO SIT APPROPRIATELY IN THIS SEAT -- THE PASSENGER IS FORCED TO SIT A BIT SIDEWAYS TO AVOID BEING DISCOMFORTED BY THE BELTS. THE ANCHORS ALSO MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO APPROPRIATELY INSTALL A CAR SEAT IN THE MIDDLE POSITION. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER.

MY VEHICLE WHETHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION ROUTINELY DOES NOT CHIME FOR A PASSANGER OR DRIVER WITHOUT A SEATBELT. THE LIGHT DOES COME ON BUT IT WILL ONLY CHIME 10% OF THE TIME. I AM NOT HAVING ISSUES WITH IT CHIMING WHEN THERE IS NOT A PERSON IS IN THE SEAT. I AM CONCERNED THIS IS A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE SINCE IF I AM DRIVING AND MY PASSANGER TAKES OFF THERE SEATBELT IT DOES NOT ALERT ME WITH SOUNDS. IT ALSO DOES NOT ALERT ME WOTH SOUND IF I MYSELF FORGET TO APPLY MY SEATBELT. I HAVE CALLED AND SPOKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN MULTIPLE TIMES. ONE OF THE SERVICE PEOPLE HAVE HEARD THIS ISSUE OCCUR WHERE IT WOULD CHIME SOMETIMES WHEN HE DID NOT HAVE HIS SEATBELT ON AND OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY IF THE SEATBELT AND WEIGHT SENSOR FOR THE PASSANGER AND DRIVER ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT IT IS NOT AN ISSUE PER THE DEALERSHIP AND TO ME IT IS AS I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR NOT CHIME NOTIFYING YOU THAT THE SEATBELTS ARE NOT FASENED. THE DEALERSHIP DID TAKE THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE OFF THERE LOT TO TEST IN A DIFFERENT CAR AND THAT VEHICLE NEVER CHIMED FOR THE LACK OF A FASTENED SEATBELT. I FIRST NOTICED THIS WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS AT 500 MILES AND IT IS NOW OVER 5000 AND STILL NOT RESOLVED.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE, WITHOUT WARNING, SHUT DOWN. WHEN I SAY SHUT DOWN, I MEAN SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. THIS WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF ALL POWER TO THE CAR. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, THE LIGHTS (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL) SHUT OFF, THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING, THE BRAKES WHERE DIFFICULT TO PUSH DOWN, ETC. AS I AM NOW COASTING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WITH NO POWER TO THE CAR I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED ON MY FLASHERS. WITH NO POWER STEERING AND BRAKES THAT ARE STIFF, I SOMEHOW WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY FORCE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE AND GET IT TO STOP. I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. I PUT IT IN PARK AND SAT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN. ONCE I TRIED, THE VEHICLE STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE MORNING AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I STARTED UP MY TRAVERSE AND NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE IS SHOWING EMPTY, BUT THE CAR HAD A HALF OF A TANK WHEN I GOT HOME LAST NIGHT. THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUS GOING ON WITH THIS TRAVERSE AND CHEVROLET VEHICLES IN GENERAL. THIS IS THE 2ND DIFFERENT VEHICLE THAT I HAVE OWNED THAT HAS SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE 1ST CAR WAS A 2016 CHEVROLET IMPALA.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2017 CHEVY TRAVERSE WITH ONLY 12000 MILES ON IT WHEN A LIGHT CAME ON FOR "TRACTION CONTROL " WITHIN 3 SECONDS I LOST ALL POWER. THANK GOD I WAS NOT ON AN EXPRESSWAY AT THE TIME. I HAD TO GET MY BRAND NEW CAR TOWED AND THEY SAID A FUSE BLEW AND THEY REPLACED THAT. THEN ANOTHER LIGHT CAME ON AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE MODULE. I WAS WITHOUT A CAR FOR 3 DAYS! THIS COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL HAD I BEEN ON A BUSY ROAD OR EXPRESSWAY. I WILL BE GETTING RID OF THIS CAR ASAP AND DO NOT EVEN FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT TO THE DEALER TO TRADE IT IN! I'VE RECENTLY LEARNED THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM IN GM CARS AND IT'S VERY DANGEROUS! SHAME ON GM THEY NEED TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED.

MY DAUGHTER WAS TANGLED WHEN A SEAT BELT GOT WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK AND WOULD NOT LOOSEN BECAUSE IT WAS IN RETRACT MODE AND IT WOULD ONLY TIGHTEN MORE. I HAD TO CUT HER OUT OF THE BELT. THEIR SHOULD BE A WAY TO OVERRIDE THE RETRACTION ON BELTS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME AND I WAS HOME AND ABLE TO GRAB SCISSORS. U DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD OF DONE IF I WAS IN THE ROAD AS I DON'T KEEP SCISSORS IN MY CAR. I DO NOW THOUGH.

FIRST PROBLEM IS THAT THE FUEL GUAGE FLUCTUATES. SECOND AND MOST FRIGHTENING, WHILE I WAS DRINKING ON WED. THE 19TH OF JULY WITH MY SON, MY TRAVERSE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THAT NIGHT, GOT IT BACK THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM COULDN'T BE DUPLICATED. I'M GUESSING THIS IS THE STANDARD ANSWER TO THESE PROBLEMS. IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME I THAT I KNOW THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PREVIOUS ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I AM ALSO FRIGHTENINGLY AWARE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN DEATHS CAUSED BY THIS. I AM STILL DRIVING THE VEHICLE TRUSTING THAT GM STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES AS WELL AS THEY TECHNICIANS. PLEASE, PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!! I AM AWARE OF THE PREVIOUS RECALLS ON EARLIER TRAVERSES AND I WANT IT TO BE KNOWN THAT THIS ISSUE IS IN FACT STILL AN ISSUE. A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE!!!
