I LOOKED UP MY VEHICLE PER THE VIN# AND A OUTSTANDING RECALL EXISTS (GM RECALL# N930018). THE RECALL #N930018 - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID CONTAINMENT. THE RECALL REMAINS INCOMPLETE AND WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE CHEVROLET GARAGE TOLD ME IT SHOWS THEM THAT THE, QUOTE "BULLENTIN NOT AVAILABLE"). THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL CHEVROLET TELLS THEM WHAT TO DO TO REPAIR IT. THE FUILD LEAKING FROM THE TRANSMISSION LINE CONNECTIONS COULD HIT THE EXHAUST PIPE AND CAUSE A FIRE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1992 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH PRO COMP MUD TERRAIN TIRES, SIZE: 33 12.5 /15 TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE TIRE EXPLODED, HE DISCOVERED THAT THE REMAINING TIRES WERE SEPARATING AS WELL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE OF THE TIRES WAS 40,000. HOWEVER, DURING THE LAW SUIT WE WERE INFORMED THAT NHTSA DOES NOT OR DID NOT REQUIRE A CRASH WORTHINESS TEST ON SEAT BACK STRENGTH ON DRIVERS SIDE IF LOADED DURING A CRASH.I AM REPORTING TO YOU THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS AND WE FEEL THAT SOME KIND OF TESTS NEED TO BE REQUIRED.DURING THE TRIAL WE MET SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT COMPLAINED TO NHTSA AND TO GM ABOUT BOTH DRIVERS SEATBACK AND PASSENGER SEATBACKS COMING FORWARD IN A FRONTAL COLLISION.THESE SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB TRUCKS NEED TO BE TESTED OR THE SEATS NEED TO BE REMOVED AND SUPPLEMENTED WITH THE BUCKET SEATS THAT GM SUBED IN DURING THE MIDDLE OF PRODUCTION.GM WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND DID COMPLY WITH THE MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDERS.I BELIEVE THAT THE STANDERS MUST BE REVISED.THE AMERICAN CONSUMER SPENDS 20,000-$30,000.00 ON VEHICLES AND THE SHOULD FEEL SAFE.THE EXTENDED CAB SIVERADO PICK-UP IS A SHARP LOOKING VEHICLE AND IT KEEPS VALUE SO IT IS APPEALING TO CONSUMERS AS IT APPEALED TO ME. THE ELECTRICAL HEAT BUILD-UP WELDED THE HOOD RELEASE CABLE TO THE FENDER, PREVENTING THE OPENING OF THE HOOD.
